  • Details of The Sun promotion revealed at The LEGO Show

Posted by Huw, 05 May 2012 04:50. Filed under Shopping (UK).

Posters revealing the nine sets that will be available with The Sun newspapers in the UK from 19th May are on display at The LEGO Show in Manchester today. I haven't had a chance to put set numbers against them, but as you can see there are:

    - 2 Batman sets
    - 2 Ningago sets
    - 2 Star Wars sets, including a 5 year old Tie Fighter
    - 3 City sets

The doors open in 5 minutes. I sill have a few 1x8 bricks left, so if you're here this morning, come and find me!

Update: Si_* has created a Bricklist showing the sets that'll be available.

No, or Friends...

Good work Huw. Do we know if WHSmith and TRU will be the vendors for the sets as before?

Excellent work Huw. Thank you so much for sharing. I am very excited.

^^ It's not stated on the poster.

Boo, I'm on holiday because last exam is the 18th! Gonna have to bug friends to get them for me.

Posted by GothamConstructionCo in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 05:31

^ Will keep a close eye on the Suns website for announcements ;o)

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 05:31

Huw is there any other way of getting the 1x8 Brickset brick. I'd really like one, but I can't get to TLS.

The only ones I want and the Batman ones. Seeing as my nearest WHS is a little way away, and by the time I get to it they will be probably be sold out, I'll have to try eBay to get my hands on these.

nice find Huw! cool for the batman sets!

The little Bat-boat looks adorable. And I'm a sucker for those little polybag town sets (the go-kart looks adorable, as does the microglider).

Batman Jetski 30160
Batmobile 30161
Ninjago Ninja Car 30087
City Race Car 30150
Star Wars Star Destroyer 30056
City Police Plane 30018
City Fire Chief 30010
Ninjago Hidden Sword 30086
Star Wars TIE Fighter 8028 (from 2008)

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 06:22

^I think I have a couple of those TIEs already. Why do we need more?

Posted by romax in Ireland, 05 May 2012 07:22

I wonder will the Irish Sun be doing the promotion also?
Thanks for posting

^^^ Thanks Grahame!

I wish the Herald sun AU has it.

Posted by Doomtrool in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 08:08

I guess lego are really trying to get rid of the Tie Fighter mini sets. You can get them free with any lego star wars order at lego shop.com and you can get them with this.

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 11:02

Quite a dull bunch really. The Star Destroyer will be good (we have not seen it in the UK yet I don't think) and the mini Batmobile also looks great.

Posted by Mcotter in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 12:58

I winder when you will be able to get your hands on the new Avengers poly bags. I reckon there will be another Sun promotion later on in the year when they will feature in the promotion.

Sad they didn't have HawkEye and Thor, yes... but I guess that giving them out this early would decrease their their Set-sale for the superhero theme.

Ive made a bricklist here
http://www.brickset.com/brickLists/?7089

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 15:23

^Thanks for the list, but I think the TIE Fighter included is this one: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=8028-1 not the one on your list.

Posted by Si_Dorking_Surrey in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 15:42

^ Just checked the list, and that's the one that's already on it ... (and no, I didnt just edit it ;o) )

Posted by TheCahleySlash in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 16:23

Maybe The sun will do what they did last time or was it the time before that and extend the promotion by another week and say it is because of excellent reception or something similar?

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 16:34

^^Oh really...? I saw this one on there earlier: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=3219-1 ;)

Posted by Si_Dorking_Surrey in United Kingdom, 05 May 2012 18:29

^ Guess one of the admins might have edited it actually... anyway, thanks for the heads up.

Posted by jengafett in United Kingdom, 06 May 2012 02:26

oh... thanks a lot! now i have to get up really early and travel for ever to get like 200 of these each! really, I am telling the truth. but anyway 198 of those packets will be going on ebay!

Posted by GothamConstructionCo in United Kingdom, 06 May 2012 02:41

^dont be greedy.

Posted by legoguysw in United Kingdom, 06 May 2012 12:39

Only really interested in the Batman Jetski, and maybe the microlight. Shame there's no Avengers as I prefer them to DC.

Posted by Nesquik in United Kingdom, 07 May 2012 05:38

The Microlight is a very nice model - I picked up a few at Manchester Airport. Most of these are not exclusive, so don't pay over the odds... You can easily get them from airports and even WH Smith have then sometimes.

Posted by GothamConstructionCo in United Kingdom, 07 May 2012 08:31

My local Tesco have some of the previous City polybags for sale from time to time including two boxes of the Tie fighter 8028 for 2.99 GBP each.
