The summer Star Wars sets have all been removed from shop.LEGO.com in the UK. Firox 5000 says that he posted on LEGO's wall when Jabba's Palace disappeared earlier in the week and was told they shouldn't have been put there in the first place. Luckily I got my order in early and they arrived today...

It seems as if the best place to order them now is Amazon.es where most of them can be had for cheaper than in the UK anyway. Postage to the UK is usually very reasonable, too, I am told.

Oh well, I managed to pick up some sets from TRU in France. I'm sure summer sets are usually released on the 1st June.

Lucky or unlucky. I picked up the Millenium falcon this week when it was heavily reduced (it's a bit more now) or pickled up a few star wars. Oh well, just have to wait a few more weeks now.

It doesn't make sense to take them off once they have been on for over 48 hours. They will be back on again soon so why not leave them?

I was really wanting to get the new Jabba'a Palace and the skiff...as i was waiting for the VIP offer... gutted they vanished!! Hope that they are back soon.... I'm also wanting the Kingdoms Chess set.. having phoned Lego as the website says, was not offered it on backorder just to try checking online in a week or so..did notice that they had a link for Lord of the Rings on the shop front page today also but it didn't work... but all this is available on the USA site (along with the Monster Fighters).... its all very odd.

I am glad I have a degree in business studies, it allows me to classify the situation that is occuring whereby UK buyers are having to use Amazon.espania. It's called a gray market.

ADVANCED SEARCH IS HERE! :D http://www.brickset.com/search/advanced/

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 06 Jun 2012 14:43

I have got them all heading my way from various sources (except set 9525 and 9526, which I am still looking to be imported, if you have either of them of both please contact me here: http://www.brickset.com/contact/?CapnRex101).

The Fury Class Interceptor, Jabba's Palace and the Striker Class Starfighter are all on their way from Belgium via Bricklink for below the GBP price, Saesee Tiin's Starfighter and the Desert Skiff are coming from the Lego shop, and the Gungan Sub, Malevolence and Planets sets all arrived today via eBay (blasphemy!) All in all I am very glad I got them in time!

I absolutely agree with Tilius, Supertoys are a fantastic way of getting sets early in Summer and Winter (they almost always have them in time for Christmas) and have super quick delivery times, I purchased the Bounty Hunter Gunship from them on the 22nd of December at around lunchtime two years ago, and received it the next day fully gift wrapped and ready to go! Now that is excellent service.

@Alemas - Great spot!

^^^ ^Supertoys is actually a Dutch outfit, apparently, http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=2795414. I think I'd rather buy fom Amazon.es.

^^^ Purchasing from within the EU is not really buying on the 'grey market'... it is, after all, a 'common market'.

@CapnRex: Not that great, it's in the "More..." section. :P

Posted by aquafreak125 in United Kingdom, 06 Jun 2012 15:10

Why am I not surprised? -_-
I don't understand how other countries can get the new LOTR, MF, NinjaGo and so on summer sets, whereas we get just ONE wave of summer sets early, and even that was a "mistake".
Ah well, I'm supposing all the summer sets will all be on UK S@H by July? So much for using my lego gift card at the end of my GCSEs next week!

Posted by mutley777 in United Kingdom, 06 Jun 2012 15:41

Can't say I am really bothered as I only buy sets In the UK now with 20% or more discount. So I am happy to wait for Argos or Amazon to have them with good discounts!

@Huw,

I still think its a gray market if the host retailer isn't treating the EU as a common market with universal release dates. but yes, good point on the broader common market.

I would add that without fiscal and monetary union across all participants, its difficult to be truly common, in particular on pricing & tax for example.

Big Ben has also disappeared from the architecture sets which is typical that it's a uk landmark. In my opinion it's quite stupid Lego pulling the cat back in the bag especially when almost all of them were on the top sellers.

Also Huw (for those of us who missed out or whether each set is worth buying) would you be able to make picture reviews of the sets like you did with LOTR.

How strange. So glad I ordered my Republic Strike Fighter on Monday, it arrived today. Just in time.

It's a lovely set, by the way.

UK got these summer sets last, but they got the winter sets first.

Lego should of left it. The damage was already done.

Thanks for the hint with Amazon.es. They do have great deals!

Posted by CCC in United Kingdom, 07 Jun 2012 03:44

I find it ridiculous that they are now stopping selling them once released. They are just losing direct sales from those that don't mind paying full RRP.

Posted by BrianOg in France, 07 Jun 2012 04:17

I saw quite a few of them at Toys R Us in La Défense, just outside Paris, yesterday. The Palpatine's arrest, and the desert skiff were there for sure. Was gonna pick up the skiff for the great Bobba Fett plus the free topless Darth Maul minifg, but I'm trying NOT toy buy any Lego in 2012. Thus far I've succeeded apart from two brown Maters (a great deal at a Framprix at €2 each) which I gave to my nephews.

Posted by Mickitat in Germany, 07 Jun 2012 04:31

I don't get it either. And I just received the VIP-mail about extra VIP-Points, too. Big "?", for sure.

Posted by aquafreak125 in United Kingdom, 07 Jun 2012 11:35

Brickmommy I don't think there's an actual release date...I asked Lego on Facebook and they said June but alas as usual we got nothing. Now people are saying August! Surprise surprise the UK is kept in the dark! :-P We can confidently say that they will be available by the end of August though :-)

You know, I posted some pics on the Star Wars Creation page, but it was deleted for some reason.
