Valid Sunday 6/17 through Saturday 6/23, save $10 on Any LEGO construction set purchase of $50 or more.  As always, by "Any", Toys R Us is excluding Star Wars, Super Heroes, Ninjago, Friends and Technic.  Unfortunately, TRU is currently marking sets up so much higher than MSRP, these types of promotions rarely save you any money.  That being said, the last time TRU tried this same discount, they ended up giving you $10 off every set online so long as you had crossed the $50 threshold.  We'll only have to wait another 10 minutes to see how it behaves this time.

Also this week, you can receive a free Batman LEGO set with a purchase of the LEGO Batman 2 video game which releases on Tuesday.  The "free" set can either be the Catwoman Catcycle City Chase (6858) or any of the larger DC Superheroes Construction figures (4526, 4527, 4528).

Rubbish deal from TRU as usual

Posted by rosney in United States, 17 Jun 2012 00:18

When the heck is the next buy 2 get one free deal?

^ With the current markups, I wouldn't be salivating over those BOGO50% deals anymore...

Posted by rosney in United States, 17 Jun 2012 00:31

^ True, but I usually get the bigger sets. Most $100+ sets are not marked up. In that case, TRU BOGO50% is the best deal around, except for the magical now-8-months-since B2GO.

Currently, Toys R Us is marking up nearly every set except for those LEGO Direct sets only available from TRU online. I would expect that they'll be marking those up soon too...

^ ^^ And to be fair, if you look close you'll notice some sets have settled back down. PotC and Harry Potter are at MSRP or lower for most sets (except heaven forbid Quidditch Match for some reason still). And 7965 Falcon is back down to MSRP, and the 9493 X-Wing is even $5 less than MSRP. Now of course this alone doesn't mean much because these sets have been found for better prices in many other places. But stack those with a B2GO and you've got something. Might have to wait until the giraffe's birthday in September by the sign of things though.

^ IMO, you can't count Potter and PotC since every other retailer is clearancing. It's funny that TRU clearancing sets means bringing them down to MSRP... ;o)

deal not showing up yet. past midnight central US time zone. still showing last weeks LOTR case giveaway. i've got $15 in gift cards and rewards, so i'd really like to start with $10 off. if i could find anything at $50 MSRP, i'd get it for $25 out of pocket. but what are my chances of ANYTHING at MSRP??? just checked the Crazy Scientist and his Monster (9466)... and it's $10 over MSRP at $60. no shock i guess.

Still the LotR set, even at 1:38AM EDT.

Yep, the discount/deal is not yet showing up. No $10 discount after you put items in the cart.

I'm not shopping for Lego at Toys'R'Us anymore. I'm disgusted at the price gouging.
I prefer buying from Lego directly, or getting the occasional deal at Target or something.
TRU, I'm done with U!

$39.99 for the Lego Friends cafe', TRU must be out of their mind... I picked it up at Kmart for $23.00, on sale from $29.99. So even at regular price, TRU is a significant mark up.

@Jacob Wilson - Unfortunately, I can't speak for the EU. This is a US sales article and in North America, LEGO Batman 2 will be available this Tuesday.

Monster fighters isn't marked up too much by TRU standards.

4 4200s gets $6 off, 3 4201s get $4 off, 4430 gets to $47, also ALL 2012 racers ARE MSRP ($9.99), 8638 now $45 (it's $55), 8486/any $7.99 cars set at $43 ($4 off), 8639 on sale AND get the $10 off to be $49.98, 4643 is MSRP, pair a $11-12 set to get the $10 off, 8679 is also MSRP ($89.99), and 3182 is a mere $4 above MSRP, so that saves $6.

Mostly City sets, but a few Cars sets as well.

Looks like PotC and HP sets are back up to full, crazier than MSRP prices. That didn't last long.

I saw the ad this morning. Not very interested. Have everything I want from what is on sale and already have LEGO Batman 2 on paid pre-order at Gamestop. Hopefully I get a Lex mini-figure. From what they were saying the other day when I went in to ask about the Villains pack it could be Lex , a Keychain , or a T-shirt now. I did see the local Target has started getting the LOTR sets in finally. Already got them all ,but at least now people will have some alternative to Toyrus if they don't have a Lego Store or feel like paying shipping. Plus to make room it means there may be some Lego sets put on clearance soon at Target.
