    Earlier today, forum member tom4086 posted in the forum that he bought a Haunted House at LDC Manchester, for the original price of £120. Given it's not supposed to be on sale until September, this is presumably another faux pas by the Discovery Centre. Before you all go rushing there tomorrow, it sounds as if there were not many available: he bought one of the two delivered.

    Furthermore, Mikky emailed to say that he bought 9525, Pre Vizsla's Mandalorian Fighter and 9526, Palpatine's Arrest there today as well. He writes "Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but I picked up Palpatine's Arrest and Pre Vizla sets today at LDC Manchester. With 20% off today it was £48 for Chancellor and £40 for Pre Viz. Both lovely and nowhere else that I have heard of in the UK yet."

    I think he's right but hopefully it won't be long before they are available elsewhere.

Prior to seeing this post, I stopped by the LEGO store in Columbus Ohio with the hope that they might slip up and put this out early. No such luck here. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I see it before the end of July (when my 10% off coupon expires).

Lucky them! I am heading to Manchester in the next few days so might be lucky as well and pick up the two exclusives, or even (albeit highly unlikely that more might have been delivered) the Haunted House!

If they're not meant to be sold until september, why would it be delivered two months early? And I thought only 'proper' Lego shops got exclusives, which the LDC isn't one. Strange!

Hi (i am mikky who reported this story) I asked the assistant in the Lego Store how they had them already when nowhere else including Lego directly isn't selling them and she said that the new SW range (and the Monster Fighters as well) are sent direct from Lego and are allocated rather than them ordering them. She thinks that they get some generally unreleased sets just to see how they do at different locations (but i have my doubts on this) and they don't yet have the Sopworth Camel (she said until September), perhaps due to the mini set being offered on the lego web site.
They have 2 rows of the Pre-Vizsla maybe 10 in total and maybe 6 of the Palpatine Arrest left on Sunday afternoon. She also said that when these sets sell out, they cannot order more and are at Lego's mercy of when and if they get more until general release occurs.

I have just been on the lego.com shop and they are showing the Haunted House with a price of £149.99. I'm sure it was £119.99 when I looked a couple of days ago...

^ Thanks for pointing this out. How outrageous! £120 was pushing it but £150!? theres no way I can buy this now! :( thanks a lot lego! They must have read the unanimously positive comments and realised that they could make more money than they first thought - well not from me. I don't think any company should be able to increase the officially anounced price before release. I hope enough people skip this set until lego realises that they're being far too greedy and reduce the price back to £120.

I generally agree on the principle that a sudden jump from £120 to £150 is steep, but perhaps we should have seen this coming after they did the same with the Euro, from E150 to E180. However, comparing it to a main competitor for people's money, such as Jabba's Palace, it is still relatively good value for money.

Jabba's Palace - app. 700 pieces for £120
Haunted House - app. 2100 pieces for £150

For an extra £30 you get treble the number of pieces. I, for one, will continue to buy the Haunted House, but at £120 it would be a lot easier to swallow.

Star Wars sets are always more expensive per brick - presumably because there's licensing to pay. At £120 I thought HH was excellent and I intended to buy 2. But at £150 it's the same price as Town Hall with 700 fewer pieces and the same price as R2-D2 which has the aforementioned licensing attached. Sorry LEGO, that's two fewer HHs you'll sell.
