New Argos catalogue out now

  • New Argos catalogue out now

Posted by Huw, 22 Jul 2012 04:00. Filed under Shopping (UK).

I don't have mine yet, but 61 new LEGO products popped up in the product feed overnight, including the summer Star Wars, Technic, Friends, Ninjago, LotR and series 8 minifigs, although the latter appear to be out of stock everywhere.

Of particular note are Pre Vizsla's Mandalorian Fighter for £49.99 which may well be an Argos exclusive in the UK, and a new version of Life Of George. I'm not sure what the difference between this and the old one is, do you? It's also listed at TRU in Canada so will presumably be available everywhere soon enough.

Remember, you can use our Argos LEGO list to find what you're looking for quicker than searching on the Argos site.

I'm also told that TRU has re-listed LotR sets and has removed its 20% markup. They should be available on line and in-store now. (thanks Kez)

Update: Pre Vizsla's Mandalorian Fighter IS an Argos exclusive in the UK.

Posted by brix in United Kingdom, 22 Jul 2012 04:48

^ yeah :( I tried to reserve shelob attacks yesterday and it said not available for store reserve :(

Got some great buys in Argos yesterday. 3 for 2 on the super heroes stuff and if you spend over £100. So got the Quinjet, Hellicarrier, Two-Face chase and Avenging Cycle for £110 (RRP £182)

They have all 3 advent calendars listed for £19.99 and on sale from September

^ No Lucas Tax on the SW one this year?

Posted by James Skywalker in United Kingdom, 22 Jul 2012 05:50

Argos LOTR sets absent from most stores,, even worse the Helms Deep set I pre ordered for delivery on the 21st is not yet in stock and will not be until the 30th July when I have to ring up and arrange a delivery date. Not impressed with Argos.

Toys r us UK listed the LOTR sets yesterday (21st) on the plus side they are the the same price as Argos and there was 20% off online voucher as well; on the downside their almost impossible to find in store!

The whole UK LOTR release is turning into a bit of a joke for Lego, Toys R us and Argos.

Just been into Plymouth to pick up a set I reserved yesterday (Monster Fighters ) Did try to reserve LOTR sets as well but it showed no stock at all Thought I'd try in store as I was there and ALL the set's were available 2-4 of each An afternoon of building awaits !

Posted by LegoBoy777 in United States, 22 Jul 2012 10:47

^^So does that mean that there is going to be a Friends advent calendar ?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 22 Jul 2012 11:01

Yes it looks like it, contrary to information provided earlier in the year.

@minfignick - I will have to pop in to my local stores and check if they have any of them in yet then! Thanks for the tip.

Hey guys, first post so go easy on me ;-)
Just picked up the 5 largest LOTR sets from TRU at old bury, had reserved them but when I got there they had them on the shelves but tucked away out of sight so think some people may miss them there :-( Really pleased with them tho, very surprised that these licensed sets are reasonably priced for a change :-)

Posted by brix in United Kingdom, 22 Jul 2012 12:37

^ Reasonably priced?!

Posted by MorkMan in United States, 22 Jul 2012 12:48

^^^^ glad to hear about the Friends Advent Calendar. Will you post something official?

Posted by jjb5000 in United Kingdom, 22 Jul 2012 13:05

They are compared to some of the star wars sets Brix, helms deep looks amazing and for £100 notes I dont think you can go far wrong. The only disappointment is the wether top set, that is a tad pricey for what it is :-(

Posted by Kez in United Kingdom, 22 Jul 2012 13:21

I went to my Argos the other day and I got a helms deep set without having I reserve it, they also had all of the lord of the rings sets in stock

Posted by brix in United Kingdom, 22 Jul 2012 13:42

@ jjb5000 I guess we all have our own ideas of reasonable but to me, these really aren't. And the star wars sets are just even more unreasonable

I got mine today & it said that Pre Vizsla's Mandalorian Starfighter is an Argos exclusive. I really want the Malevolence now, but I'm off to America & I think that it will be cheaper over there.

On the 'new' version of Life of George: It is a redesigned box, with the same contents, but the box boasts that it comes with two apps - because they have created a new game as well as the original one. I saw a demo of it a couple of months ago ... it is a bit more like IQ tests ... which you build responses to ... and is more fun than that sounds! (e.g. it shows 3 patterns and you have to build the fourth one in the sequence).

Anybody can download those apps - including people who bought the original box - or anyone else!

So the box doesn't contain anything new.

Those are the facts.

I have been down to my local Argos today and found that they did indeed have the Lord of the Rings sets in stock, despite displaying them as unavailable on their website. Presumably this is some kind of blunder on their part, but I am surprised that the issue has not yet been rectified.

Hi

Don't know if it has been mentioned before, but in the new Argos catatlogue on page 1602 they have the current Police Helicopter, 7741 on sale but on page 1624, item No.12, they have a picture of a different police helicopter which looks very like lego and I think it is proper lego as it is slightly longer than the current model but looks to use some of the same parts and the 2 police officer appear to have blue uniforms. Could this be that argos have used a picture of the new as yet unreleased Police helicopter 4473 for this year?

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2012 16:01

^ I too have noticed this, the helicopter is shown from almost head on and has an open area at the side for Minifigures to jump out of. It looks much better than the current one, hopefully it is indeed the yet to be released model.

Posted by Kez in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2012 17:03

That set is definitely 4473 because on the side of the helicopter there is a sticker that reads 4473 ^^
