The more observant among you will have noticed the colourful S@H adverts on the left-hand-side of this page. Brickset is now a LEGO affiliate which means that, if you access S@H by clicking on the ads to get there, Brickset will get a small commission on every item bought.

Having two ads for different markets is a bit messy, and what about the rest of the world, I hear you ask? Well, it seems the different regions of LEGO do things separately and at the moment only NA (US and Canada) and UK have affiliate schemes. I'll put some country detection code in place soon to show only the relevant one when I have worked out how.

I'm hoping to put direct product links on the relevant set pages, if I can get the data in a usable format from them. There are at present 590-odd different sets listed on S@H and I'm certainly not going to add them manually!

An official affiliate of the lego company, eh? Good for us!

This is great! I will be buying through you guys when I buy my next sets. But the flashing yellow is kind of annoying when you are browsing sets.

Posted by bigz123 in United States, 26 Sep 2007 16:43

does this mean we can now buy things from you guys?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 26 Sep 2007 17:45

No -- toy buy from LEGO S@H as normal. We just carry their ads.

I'll see if there's a less distracting ad I can use.

Fantastic, but such a shame it isn't available to Australian/New Zealand buyers! I would definitely use it!

I have toned them down a bit, LMKWYT...

I just looked at MOC pages and it seems that they are linking to lego.com like brickset. I do not know if they are being paid for this, but I think they are.
Thankyou for fixing the ads in the lefthand corner Huw.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 27 Sep 2007 17:24

Looks like MOCPages are doing the same. I hate big ads and won't let them overpower the site, so be sure to buy through my links and not theirs :-)

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 27 Sep 2007 17:37

Oh, and I have now implemented country detection. UK visitors see the UK ad, everyone else see the US one. I have no idea what happens if someone outside NA clicks the link and buys something; guess we'll find out if someone tries!

Click on the page if u re in Germany and u see the S@H main page

Posted by Huffy1968 in United Kingdom, 28 Sep 2007 17:40

Guess I'd better delete my S@H bookmark... :-)

Do you get any credit for click-throughs?

Posted by exo-builder59, 01 Oct 2007 19:53

Posted by martinlegokitty4n5, 07 Oct 2007 11:29

Yea! Brickset helped me decide what i wanted to buy, (and others). Why didn't brickset do that years ago?
