    Whung has emailed to say that Ferrari and Shell promotional sets 30190-30195 are available in Shell petrol stations in Hong Kong, and 30196 Shell F1 Team can be obtained once you've picked up the other six. I don't know if you need to buy petrol (gas) to get them or not, but hopefully more information will be forthcoming in the comments.

    Update: as suspected, it has (sort of): Here's the page on the Shell.com.hk site (translated through Google) with details of the offer. Spend $400 HKD and get a car for $20HKD.

    Update 2: it looks as if this will be a global promotion, eventually: A page on the Shell.com site states "Not available where you are yet? Don’t worry, the collection is being launched all over the world and could be coming to you soon." (thanks SirBen). If that's the case, and they are 'Only at Shell' it seems unlikely that one of them will feature in the forthcoming Sun promotion we reported a week or so ago. Unless of course the offer is not going to be available in the UK...

    Update 3: I emailed Shell UK and the reply was positive: "Lego promotion will be available globally. However, we do not have information yet as to when it will be launched in UK.  To check upcoming promotions, kindly visit our website www.shell.com."

It says on the Shell HK website that you need to fill up $400 worth of Shell V Energy and add $20 for one vehicle or fill up $400 worth of FuelSave Petrol or Diesel and add $35 for 1.

@Alemas: At current rates, it is $51.58 / 41.92 euro.

So the car is $2.58 / 2.10 euro.

LEGO and US retailers take note - In a world where fuel prices are the same from station to station, the chance to buy a little set like this with the purchase of a tank of fuel would definitely make me go out of my way to a Shell station instead of a BP or Mobil station.

Plus, since I'll have to bring my kids in the station with me instead of paying at the pump, you'll probably sell some candy along with it.

If you click around on the Shell website, there is a link to a "Build and drive" game where you can build each one. In the game, the car has a pull-back-and-go feature. Do the real toys have that?

The words "polybag" and "exclusive" are often used very loosely. TLG did it themselves with the mini Hogwarts promo and that ended up widely available. I think it's entirely plausible that one of these sets will be in both the Shell promo and the next Sun Promo.

I remember when Shell did this years ago when I was little. I never liked sitting in the car while my dad filled the tank...But I had LEGO to look forward to when he went in to pay!

I will be really surprised if this comes to U.S. it's very rare for Shell to do a LEGO promo in the U.S. While not impossible, just very rare. ^ and yes these do have the pull back motors which I've found to be quite nice.

It's not rare for Shell promos to be in the U.S. at all. Both the recent global promotions in the early 2000s were in the United States, as will be this one.

@Isabella and Lego Liker: Yes, and I'm very excited to hopefully gain these pieces in a new color. might even need to drive the 40 miles to my nearest Lego store, more often, so I can refill my tank more (ok, maybe not ;)

Well, for me, my mom has a 26 gallon tank for her truck, combined with gas now at $4.09, and a Shell just 2 blocks from where I live - and another only 13 block away - easy when needed.

A couple updates for you, Huw. I happen to be in HK at the moment. The promotion is running here from August 1-September 30. Two sets are available at a time. From August 1-August 20, you have a choice of 30190 or 30191. From August 21-September 9, it's 30192 or 30193, and from September 10-September 30, it's 30194 or 30195.

I've been to two Shell stations, both of which were extremely hesitant to sell me these without a purchase of fuel. Being a foreigner with no car, I was able to convince them to let me purchase them for them for HKD $35, the price when $400 of regular fuel is bought. One station let me only choose one, the other let me get both.

I also happened upon a promotional truck going around HK with a 1:1 model of the F150 Italia on the back. I believe there is also a model at the New Town Plaza mall in Sha Tin. There is a contest to guess the number of parts it took to built.

A leaflet available at Shell stations appears to show 30196. It includes a Ferrari Race Mechanic with a handcart, a Ferrari Refueling Engineer with a refueling trolley and a Shell Track Scientist with a small rack of jars and samples. According to the leaflet it is free when you submit all six packages at a Shell station, or with the purchase of Shell Helix Ultra Lube change service or two bottles of Shell Rimula R6 LM.

All decorations, including torso designs on the minifigs, are stickers.
