Series 8 minifigs out now in the USA and Canada

Posted by Huw, 16 Aug 2012 14:19. Filed under Shopping (USA).

The word on the street is that series 8 minifigs are now available in the USA in Toys R Us. I've had a flurry of reports today including from people in North Haven, CT, and Orlando, FL, so I guess they could be nationwide. (Thanks everyone!)

With Team GB still on shelves in the UK, I suspect those of us there have a little longer to wait.

Maques has scanned the collectors' sheet, which is the first I've seen of it so I've posted it here:

Update: They are now also available in Walmart in Canada. Powerpig picked some up in New Brunswick yesterday.

This can only be a good sign I suppose, although I agree that the Olympic Minifigures may cause a slight delay for the UK. I have seen boxes of those figures still unsold in WHSmith over the last few days.

Orlando is an hour from me, so I'll go next weekend since over at Disney the new Star Wars Vinylmations will be out. Which Toys r Us were they spotted at?

Posted by pantzman in United Kingdom, 16 Aug 2012 15:04

I've been asked to send a box of Olympics to Hong Kong but in the last week they have all but disapeared except for WHSmiths and I would rather not bother at their greedy inflated price. I wonder if they got sent back after the Olympics ended ready for series 8?

Posted by The_Box in United States, 16 Aug 2012 15:06

It should also be noted that my TRU in New Jersey has had series 8 since last Friday.

Posted by Outer Rim Emperor in United States, 16 Aug 2012 15:07

I bought a few Series 8 last Sunday at my local TRU in Maryland

Posted by legomatt3 in United States, 16 Aug 2012 15:12

I live in the US and would love to get my hands on an olympic series set of guys. Any one in the UK willing to hook me up with a completed set?

Posted by NeilJam in United States, 16 Aug 2012 15:12

My TRU near Pittsburgh got a case of series 8 minifigs on Tuesday, and some more came in today.

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 16 Aug 2012 15:13

Pantzman how much for a set?

Posted by MorkMan in United States, 16 Aug 2012 15:23

That vampire bat seems like an easy one to find via the "feel method" when I get my hands on a box...
It will go well with my Haunted Mansion!

Posted by pantzman in United Kingdom, 16 Aug 2012 15:23

£27.99. Opened, identified and resealed.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 16 Aug 2012 15:29

YES! Now I just hope they'll come here in Germany! :P BTW, who sells Collectable Minifigs here?

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 16 Aug 2012 16:07

I found them in Phoenix AZ at TRU. Found all I wanted, plus some for the kids. Used 2 $5 off purchase coupons with different codes. Not bad.

Posted by tiberium_blue in United Kingdom, 16 Aug 2012 16:16

@Pantzman Slightly discounted boxes are still on sale here: http://www.blahdvd.com/Other/LEGO-8909-Team-GB-Olympic-Minifigures-Complete-Box-of-60/LEGO8909/product.htm

Any body seen them in Colorado

Posted by Yellow in Hungary, 16 Aug 2012 17:05

Series 8 is out in Hungary as well. You can find them in InterSpar supermarkets.

Posted by futilerage in United States, 16 Aug 2012 17:45

The Fred Meyers in Tumwater Wa has 6 boxes of series 8 out. Only got a handful till payday at the end of the month.

Posted by Foxhound362 in United States, 16 Aug 2012 18:56

Toys'r Us in Grand Rapids Michigan has series 8. I just picked up a dozen singles.

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 16 Aug 2012 19:51

My man murphquake found them earlier this week at the Rego Park TRU, Queens.
Gonna' check them out tomorrow if there still on the shelf.

Posted by malachirobertson in United States, 16 Aug 2012 20:28

I saw Series 8 at Toys R Us and at Meijer today. I got to go through a new box at Toys R Us. The fairy was difficult to find. The football player was easy to find.

Posted by Chooch in United States, 16 Aug 2012 21:14

Purchased some Series 8 at a local Fred Meyers in Boise, Idaho - got 20% off - sweet!

Posted by KLegoman in United States, 16 Aug 2012 22:05

Checked the Toys R Us in Springfield MA and they don't have anything yet. I'll most likely be in the area again this weekend and will stop in to see if they came in.

Posted by slave2leia in United States, 16 Aug 2012 22:11

I've seen them at TRUs here in Los Angeles.

Posted by wiredforsound in United States, 16 Aug 2012 22:28

Fred Meyer stores in the Pacific Northwest are stocking multiple boxes as of today. I have an unopened Series 8 box up for trade for an unopened TeamGB box. Contact me.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 16 Aug 2012 22:31

Is it my imagination or is there less and less hooplah with every passing series? Could this be the end of CMF's? I couldn't believe how easy it was to go into TRU and buy the ones I wanted. When series 2,3, and 4 came out, it was a hunt trying to find them, now there is cases of them (series 8) just sitting on the counter next to cases of series 6 and 7.

Posted by atxdad in United States, 16 Aug 2012 23:02

The ToysRUs Austin TX in Gateway shopping center had one box of Series 8 on Tuesday 8/14/12.

Posted by mo123567 in United States, 17 Aug 2012 00:23

@ starfire2

I think they increased supply and people stopped freaking out that they may not ever get a chance to buy them. I see plenty of Star Wars sets from different waves on the shelves and no one is questioning it's success. Lego benefits if they have enough supply to sit on the shelves so potential new fans can casually pic them up after the rabid fans get their share.

I do think series 8 is kind of dissapointing however. I know there are plenty of good ideas left. It just seems that there was not as much effort put into this series.

Posted by blomper in United States, 17 Aug 2012 01:15

TRU in Elk Grove, CA had one box. They said the expect a lot more next week.
As much as I hate buying from TRU, I couldn't wait.

Posted by murphquake in United States, 17 Aug 2012 01:50

@legoDad42, they brought out a fresh box for me on weds.... I'm 100% on feeling them up so far got a full set... Also spend 20 and get one free is going on now.... Got city of Atlantis Atlantis &banana balance games AND 3 S8 CMFs for 68$ with the 15$ off $50 coupon from toysnbricks.com!! Posted by murphquake in United States, 17 Aug 2012 01:59

Btw... Everyone saying that this series is weak should hold judgement til their in hand its actually a pretty nice batch I'm very pleased with my set.

Posted by mo123567 in United States, 17 Aug 2012 02:27

Just got a bunch at Fred Meyer in Beaverton Oregon. There are still plenty left. I had a tough time finding the actor and the Bavarian for some reason but I have at least two of each.

Posted by balkris in United Kingdom, 17 Aug 2012 06:13

Colour me unimpressed... ANOTHER skier, ANOTHER robot, ANOTHER cheerleader... and several others are just rehashes of minifigs available in normal sets, like the Pirate, Alien and Vampire Bat. There are loads more ideas out there, so why do we keep getting the same ones in different colours?

Posted by lilac_cloud in United Kingdom, 17 Aug 2012 07:25

^Agreed. my 6 yr old is excited about the robot and alien, but skiers (and skaters) bore me to oblivion. Looking forward to the Conquistador and Elizabethan actor, but some are quite...uninspiring. Just to name a few - guy holding vinyl/LP, cheerleader, pirate.

However, tradition still dictates that I must own the complete Series 8!

Posted by Joefish in United Kingdom, 17 Aug 2012 07:55

Has anyone got a distribution breakdown of a full box yet?

Posted by shaase in Canada, 17 Aug 2012 08:06

Once again it seems we Canucks get the shaft and receive them last

Posted by quentin00776 in France, 17 Aug 2012 09:23

j'en ai vu ce matin même en france, dans un toysrus !

Posted by legomatt3 in United States, 17 Aug 2012 10:09

Pantzman
How much would that be in US dollars?

Posted by AlphaYoder in United States, 17 Aug 2012 11:43

The TRU near Potomac Mill Mall in VA has them. Grabbed a handful. The other TRU 30 min south did not. Time to start the collection!!

Posted by wiredforsound in United States, 17 Aug 2012 12:06

My Series 8 Box breakdown was as follows:

5x - DJ, Evil Robot, Pirate Captain
4x - Red Cheerleader, Conquistador, American Football Player, Cowgirl, Vampire Bat, Santa
3x - Downhill Skier, Faery, Actor, Alien Villainess, Diver, Lederhosen Guy, Businessman

Posted by AlphaYoder in United States, 17 Aug 2012 12:44

Grabbed 16 randoms and I got 8 characters. TRU has them all in just a bucket not the box. Got 4 of the evil space men :/

Posted by UtarEmpire in United States, 17 Aug 2012 19:30

Bought one in Philadelphia today on a whim, got the Evil Robot or whatever. This is my first "robot" CM, so I thought he was pretty cool.

Posted by mkrey in United States, 17 Aug 2012 20:07

My local TRU got series 6 and 7 well before my local LEGO store. I expect the same with series 8.

Posted by jadblz in United States, 17 Aug 2012 20:24

Thanks to Brickset and all the LEGO collectors out there reporting, I found a set today no problem!
Weird they got 8 boxes on Tuesday and they still had some for me to feel through. Spent 45 minutes feeling out a set. This group was tricky. Is it me or are the packet sides thicker? Either way my hands are hurting, but managed a full set! I'm digging on the Cowgirl,Fairy and a proper Santa.

If you are in the US you can use the email coupon from this week to score $15 off of a $50 purchase!! It worked on them with no problem! Thanks again for the heads up guys!

Posted by Ad the brickmaster in United Kingdom, 18 Aug 2012 10:07

TLC have clearly lost all there imagination.

How many space fighters have we had?

As usual with the latter series, there are a few gems, but most of them we've seen before with slightly different colours and accessories

When it started, CM was really good, but since then, it's gone steadily downhill.

If they just made half the no. of series', but concentrated all the really good, unique figs into it, they would be worth buying a lot more.

(You may be able to tell that I haven't bought one since S4.)

Posted by Sonic_Raptor in United States, 18 Aug 2012 17:33

Dangit... wish I knew about that $15 off of $50 before I purchased. Ah well.

On a related note, apparently TRU is not a fan of you purchasing a full box. Something about not being allowed to do a "bulk" buy. So, I purchased half and my wife purchased the other half... problem solved! :)

Posted by Adiro in Poland, 20 Aug 2012 12:52

Series 8 in the all Poland stores.

Posted by DocDanCan in United States, 21 Aug 2012 13:26

Picked up Santa and Bat Monster at TRU in Roanoke VA today. No other local stores are carrying yet, and TRU had just one half-full box.

I do like this series, but I have to agree that some other more imaginative figures could have been included.

Posted by TC in Australia, 22 Aug 2012 02:58

@shaase - Dont feel too bad, we here in Aust are still waiting..................

Posted by mdmulhern in United States, 22 Aug 2012 10:28

The Woodbridge, VA and Alexandria (Kingstowne), VA TRU have them. There looked to be about two boxes worth at the Kingstowne store. I was searching for some specific ones but think I "felt" pretty much all of them series. Seemed to be a lot of the Actor, DJ or Business man (I could feel the square disk) and skier. Pretzel was distinctive but hard to find. Also, our TRU sells them for only $3.19.

Posted by zoery380 in United States, 22 Aug 2012 23:30

Picked up mine in Grand Rapids, MI. They had two open cases, and a truck coming Thursday or Friday with more.

Posted by Indy4477 in United States, 23 Aug 2012 09:51

Got 14 out of 16 of the minifigures series 8 at Toysrus in Thornton,Colorado

Posted by train_nut in United Arab Emirates, 23 Aug 2012 16:26

We've got them in dubai now. I actually like them better once I've opened a few of them. Not bad indeed.
