Win these minifigs!

  • Win these minifigs!

Posted by Huw, 05 Sep 2012 09:20. Filed under Brickset.

Win these figs! We've teamed up with LEGO's community team to bring you an opportunity to win these rare Super Heroes minifigs that are not available in any sets!

All you have to do to enter the competition is to create a short video using LEGO Super Heroes Movie Maker on your iPhone or iPad.

The best one (defined below) as judged by the Brickset team will win both the minifigs.

    Here's how to enter:

    • Shoot your movie, which should be around one minute long.
    • Upload it to YouTube
    • Post a message in the forum, in this thread, [1] and embed your video in it, by 30th September 2012.

As this is a competition to promote the Super Heroes Movie Maker app, your video should feature LEGO Super Heroes. You could make up your own script involving them, re-enact a scene from a movie, or maybe just shoot something to demonstrate how cool a particular Super Heroes set is, or something else entirely: the choice is yours.

Entries will be judged on execution, originality and entertainment value. Entry is open to everyone [2], wherever you are in the world.

If you have any questions, please ask.

    Good luck!

[1] If you are under 16 and therefore can't post in the forum, drop me an email when you've uploaded to YouTube, and I will post it on your behalf.

[2] There is no age restriction on entering but if you are under 13 you must ask your parent/guardian's permission to do so and ask them to post your video on YouTube.

As nice as it would be to win these, I'm not sure I can justify the expense of buying an iDevice just so I can enter :)

Posted by rmarkworth in Germany, 05 Sep 2012 10:27

On FBTB you only get one minifig, see http://www.fbtb.net/2012/07/10/super-hero-stop-motion-cinema-contest/
Here the winner both of them? That'd be great! Doesn't LEGO provide the prizes?

Posted by Legolijntje in Netherlands, 05 Sep 2012 10:40

No Android!? :O
:(

I don't have any Apple product at all, I don't like that the contest is only for the ones with a iphone/ipod/ipad...
That's unfair.

Posted by orwellian in United States, 05 Sep 2012 10:43

It really disappoints and frustrates me when I see this contest and the one on FBTB - two sites I love and check daily. Like lots of people (and AFOLs), I don't own an iPod, iPad, or iPhone so this immediately disqualifies me for the contest. At a certain point, it feels like an implicit endorsement of this brand/line of products which really bothers me. I have a camera and a phone that are both capable of recording pretty good video, but it doesn't count because none of them are Apple devices.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2012 10:55

@rmarkworth, I decided the winner would get both: winning one without the other would suck, wouldn't it? Yes, LEGO did provide the prize.

^ and ^^, me too, but LEGO is sponsoring the competition specifically to promote the app and gain exposure for it on YouTube. It's a shame there is no Android version though, I agree. Every site that ran a similar competition earlier in the year faced the same criticism.

Can you use pre existing videos

Posted by monkey_roo in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2012 10:57

I think this is a cracking excuse to play with Lego and make a fun short film, even if I don't win I will have fun this evening. Thanks for running the competition.

Posted by orwellian in United States, 05 Sep 2012 11:00

@Huw - I know and I really don't fault you specifically because it's an issue with Lego choosing to develop solely for one company's devices. But if we don't speak up, then no one knows there's a problem.

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 05 Sep 2012 11:49

I was going to say that I don't have an Iphone, but then remembered my mum has one :D

Posted by aaclapham in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2012 12:05

Forget about the competition and just sell me the minifigures - I have been trying to get these 2 for ages!

Posted by ravendragonwing in United States, 05 Sep 2012 12:23

so who at LEGO do we complain to about the fact that if you do not own an idevice you cannot enter? Am equally frustrated with this fact....

Posted by brix in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2012 12:29

^ I feel exactly the same, in a way, it seems those who chose not to/cannot buy an iPhone or iPad are being discriminated against. Surely this competition should be open to all lovers of lego, no matter what devices they own - the main reason I don't have an iPhone/Pad/Pod is because I much prefer spending my money on lego.

Posted by cjg in United States, 05 Sep 2012 12:38

Guys the reason it is only for iOS devices is because those are the only devices with the app. The reason for this contest is to get people to use the app.

Posted by Mickitat in Germany, 05 Sep 2012 12:45

No iDevice here, either.

Posted by Legozrool in United States, 05 Sep 2012 12:55

Have an iPod touch although I don't know if I will enter as I do not have any marvel Lego sets :( really would like to have those figs
(I typed this on the iPod )

And Apple wins another proprietary battle by default. Steve Jobs must be cackling to himself in the great beyond.

Posted by TooMuchLEGO in United States, 05 Sep 2012 13:27

Huw, you just may have given me an excuse to get a YouTube! Now lets hope my sister is kind enough to lend me her iPod... :P

Posted by TheMinifigFreak in United States, 05 Sep 2012 13:51

Is it marvel or dc or is it only marvel? And also when does the contest end?

Posted by TheLEGOmaniac in Denmark, 05 Sep 2012 13:53

And of course I have Android...

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2012 14:18

I personally do not like the Minifigures all that much, particularly Captain America, and while it would be nice to truly complete the collection, not having any Apple products on which to shoot it makes this a futile exercise for me. Good luck to everybody entering though!

Posted by CurvedRoadPlate in United States, 05 Sep 2012 14:42

I downloaded the app and it is DC based (title screens, etc.). Are we supposed to focus on DC Superhero characters only?

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 05 Sep 2012 14:51

No, any super heroes you like!

Posted by Scogali in Australia, 05 Sep 2012 16:31

Can it also include villains in the video so long as there are also super heroes?

Posted by MorkMan in United States, 05 Sep 2012 16:50

I guess if I have no Super Hero minifigs, I can't make a movie, right?

Posted by LegoC10 in United States, 05 Sep 2012 16:54

So, I made a stop-motion video of superheroes last year. It's not using the Superheroes App, but is it okay if I use the video?

Posted by jengafett in United Kingdom, 06 Sep 2012 01:52

well it doesn`t look like you will be able to get these anywhere else.

And I certainly don`t advise buying them from bricklink: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?q=Toy%20Fair%202012%20Exclusive

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 06 Sep 2012 02:35

Awesome!

Posted by Drmnez11 in United States, 06 Sep 2012 14:39

is there a limited number of entries allowed?

Posted by Nightshroud99 in Canada, 06 Sep 2012 15:03

@LegoC10

There's a reason Huw posted instructions and rules...

Posted by Bladedude12345 in United States, 06 Sep 2012 16:25

I think it has to be brand new made with the app.

Posted by Legozrool in United States, 06 Sep 2012 18:21

Someone is trying to sell them for $850 apiece on bricklink wow...... If someone bought those they would be pretty crazy (or rich)

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 06 Sep 2012 19:02

Nah....I'll pass. I would rather win a Green Lantern minifig.

Posted by lotrninja23 in United States, 07 Sep 2012 17:48
