I'm very interested in the museum set. I don't think LEGO's done one of those before. The 2013 modular set is a must have too.

Collectible Friends? YAY! and a swimming pool? Double Yay!

Posted by Zackula in United States, 15 Sep 2012 17:43

You'd think that there would be less robberies with the ridiculously over funded and well equipped police department that Lego city has. The police to civilian ratio is what, like 28:1?

Posted by Legolover9531 in United States, 15 Sep 2012 17:44

No Supehero news?

Posted by Stacy in Australia, 15 Sep 2012 17:45

^^ Bahaha. You'd think that right?

Posted by Zackula in United States, 15 Sep 2012 17:48

I just noticed the zoo and my wallet shed a single tear.

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 15 Sep 2012 17:56

That museum robbery set sounds great, perfect for a Super Heroes of course!

Posted by peterlmorris in United States, 15 Sep 2012 17:58

I really want to see pics of this golden dragon. I hope it's as awesome as it sounds!

Posted by JamesBenjamin in United States, 15 Sep 2012 18:21

@ CapnRex101: the Zoo is Duplo.

Posted by brixton in Canada, 15 Sep 2012 18:28

@Zackula: LOL! So true.

Posted by Legolover9531 in United States, 15 Sep 2012 18:53

@CapnRex101: I strongly agree with this.

Thanks for the credit. :)

The most interesting thing I saw here were the Friends sets. Ninjago looks like same old, so does HF, Legends of Chima sounds like Ninjago, but I haven't seen them yet, and city is just pathetic. More robberies, more fires and more police quads. it's like Lego is beating a bear with a cleaver, and now the bear is puree. Can we get a civilian line of city sets? We have to pay 150 for a Module set.

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 15 Sep 2012 19:50

I like that there's both a Fire Robot (yay for giant robots, I didn't like the Samurai mecha) and another Dragon (now in gold, oooh) for the Ninjago line. The "Garmatron" is interesting, maybe even Garmadon gets a giant robot?

Another line of police and fire is just grating. I know why they do it. But maybe it's nostalgia kicking in - I remember when we had houses and restaurants and cars and harbours and mechanics and the occasional post office. A city should be more than just a police station on every block, and a fire department on every other block.

The "Museum Robber" looks interesting.

And I like the sound of the Legends of China sets, although I'll probably just collect the minifigs like I've done this year.

Posted by ben30024 in United States, 15 Sep 2012 20:27

kai.
fire robot.
$10.
YAY!
also the chima wolf tracker and furno XL sound cool!

Posted by The Green Brick Giant in United States, 15 Sep 2012 20:28

I understand that Lego Police and Fire is popular and they need to do it every few years, but every year?! Why not coast guard? It's still rescue sets but different.

Posted by Dave6249 in New Zealand, 15 Sep 2012 20:39

Oh no. Not more City emerceny services sets. We need citizens! What is a City without "normal" people and houses instead of Fire and Police stations, etc. It is interesting that LEGO has decided to do a Musuem Robbery -they have only done that in the Agents theme. It seems that Speedorz has something to do with Legends of Chima because a few of the LOC sets have Speedorz in their name.
I am looking forward to seeing what these sets look like!

HF is getting weirder and weirder. Ogrum? Scarox? Have we been transported back the Bionicle Phantoka? :P

Ninjago looks pretty good. I just hope the Temple of Light wasn't torn out of Ninjago Roleplay. :P Anyway, the Fire Robot sounds good.

COLLECTIBLE FRIENDS? AIIIII!!!!! *Screams like cheesy anime character* :P

Posted by Bob Clear in United States, 15 Sep 2012 21:14

City used to be interesting:it had airport, trains, and motorized boats. Now it's just police, fire, police, fire, and some more police. I'm always interested in Hero Factory, and the names sound cheesy but still somewhat interesting. CHIMA is a let down though...

Posted by Dodge in Canada, 15 Sep 2012 21:33

Read the 'Collectable Friends' and made an unintended noise of joy!

The Chima sets sound interesting too, especially after seeing the sticker the other day.

This could be a good year! I'll stock up on Kraft dinner now!

Posted by peterlmorris in United States, 15 Sep 2012 21:44

Just want to point out that LEGO does do City stuff other than police and fire. In the past couple of years we've had a pizza place, a transportation center, a bank, a Marina and a harbor. You complainers have to buy the sets before they make more. You don't buy them, so they don't make more. Duh.

Posted by The Green Brick Giant in United States, 15 Sep 2012 21:51

Lego makes 25-30 City sets a year, you listed 5 sets in the last few years that weren't redone Fire and Police sets. The miner sets are neat different construction like sets but we need a year off from Police sets.

Posted by legomaniac in United States, 15 Sep 2012 21:52

City Museum sounds awesome. With that price, I hope it is big and lots of neat stuff.

Posted by Zordboy in Australia, 15 Sep 2012 22:25

Yeah, I really liked the Mining sets. They were nicely different.

Also, I did buy the Dirt Bike Transporter and the Caravan (as well as the Horse Float and Winnebago from a couple of years ago), because they hadn't done sets like that for a while, and they were different and unusual sets. And it was nice to get some more variety of vehicles for my streets.

When they stop giving us piles and piles of police and fire, I spend. I buy them, as I demonstrated one paragraph above. I have no problem with that.

But yes. It *would* be nice if they tried a little more variety every now and then.

Posted by ninjagoyo in United States, 15 Sep 2012 22:56

Not a single set over $80?
That strikes me as very unlikely. Either the top-end sets didn't make it into this list, or LEGO had major problems moving the pricier merchandise and decided to focus their efforts on smaller sets. But considering their financials, the latter seems unlikely, so I expect there are more sets in all these lines at higher price points that we'll hear about eventually.

Posted by chrismajor2124 in United States, 15 Sep 2012 23:22

Kai's Fire Robot? Garmatron? Oh boy...

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 15 Sep 2012 23:42

@The Green Brick Giant: Also, All the Great Vehicles were not Fire or Police, and we had 8 other sets just in 2012 (and that just for retail markets). Also, Since 2012 was FOREST Fire, the regular Fire needs to updated since it was last updated in 2010.

Posted by Bob Clear in United States, 16 Sep 2012 00:20

@peterlmorris that was 5 out of what, 50, sets? Come on, Lego isn't even trying with city these days. They do have some other stuff like mining, but it's mostly just police and fire. Not that I'm into city, but just saying that Lego has lost some of its creativity

Posted by AddictedToStyrene in Australia, 16 Sep 2012 01:20

A year off from Police sets? Did you not see the Airport, Public Transport, Harbour, Construction, and Miners sets? We've had service stations, a hospital and two ambulances, cargo trucks, cement mixers, tow trucks, a postal van and postal plane, sea planes, tipper truck, recycling truck, big and small houses (creator), an apartment building, a car park, two different cargo trains and a passenger train. And if you don't like any of those, I hear that Lego also do sets which contain lots of different bricks so, get this, you can build anything you want! Amazing!

Posted by ChicoCheco in Norway, 16 Sep 2012 01:54

Oh my god, here we go again - Police quad and fire department. The museum set ion the other hand sounds promising. I wanted to buy a bank set 3661, butmaybe I will just wait for the museum. More farm sets, public services, marina and transportation. I would like to see for example a simple set with a taxi. Post office would be nice.

Posted by Lari in Germany, 16 Sep 2012 03:49

Sets with question marks: 60001 translates to fire-fighting vehicle, 60004 is a fire station, 10519 is a garbage truck.

Posted by Gregorovich in United Kingdom, 16 Sep 2012 05:09

Thanks for the list!

I'm actually very excited about next year's City. According to someone who has seen the Retailer's Catalogue there is - and you may not believe this - things for the Firemen to put out! One set contains a burning house, another contains bins or something, the boat set has a speedboat with a burning engine, and one contains a cat up a tree. Plus there's the museum to look forward to, and some of the sets will apparently contain civillians. I just hope these sets are as good as they sound!

Am I the only one not excited about Collectible Friends? I have no interest in the 'cute' animals. Unless the sets contain good building parts and accessories I won't be buying. Some of the other sets sound interesting; I wonder how they'll do the sports sets with their conjoined legs?

Legends of Chima is frighteningly big. NinjaGo sounds good, though, particularly 'Temple of Light'. That sounds great!

What I'm most excited about is another Series of Collectable Minifigures! Hope this one will have a female elf figure, and some more printed dresses. Also, of the Pink Brick box is as good value as this year's (£12 for all those bricks in rare colours, an exclusive fig and accessories?!), I may have to get it.

Sounds like a fairly good year, I'm just waiting on more info on Superheroes and Star Wars.

I think the prices are meant to all be shown as euros not $s, just looked up a few on the linked site and the price numbers are right but are displayed in euros as you'd expect from a German shop

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 16 Sep 2012 06:34

^ You are right, I cut and paste the list, my source was wrong.

Posted by Graysmith in Sweden, 16 Sep 2012 09:11

Seems like it's high time for LEGO to rename City into something else, like "Action Rescue", considering they have zero ideas for anything that would actually make for a real city theme. I guess in the LEGO world it's all firefighters rescuing police officers from fires and police officers chasing crooks who robbed firefighters. There's seemingly no civilians living in LEGO City.

Posted by Firox 5000 in United Kingdom, 16 Sep 2012 09:51

Ninjago, china don't interest me and apart from the museum robbery this probably also applies to city. Looks like a bleak year (so far) for my Lego budget.

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 16 Sep 2012 10:42

"Golden Dragon"... well there's a set I know I'm obligated to buy even before looking at the picture.

Posted by BTZ4435 in United States, 16 Sep 2012 16:54

What do the sets look like?

Posted by daninu12345 in United States, 16 Sep 2012 22:11

I Want The Temple Of Light!!!

Posted by Joefish in United Kingdom, 17 Sep 2012 06:40

So at least this confirms that the 'Speedorz' mark is associated with the 'Legends of Chima' line - those inertia-wheel ripcord bikes - and not another branch of racers. The particular 'Speedorz' sets to me suggest a mix of stunts, knock-down, and jousting games.

Posted by airways09 in United Kingdom, 17 Sep 2012 16:40

even more police recruits to add to my seemingly never ending collection!! perhaps the museum robbery could tie in with a return of an adventurers theme?
