    Happening October 13 and 14, Toys R Us is calling it their Trade In Weekend.

    I'm not sure of what Toys R Us will have for trading at the start of the weekend, but it is an interesting concept. I am also unsure if it is restricted only to the collectable Minifigure series (Series 8?), but it's worth checking out if you have an army of doubles. Read the details on their website.

    Also: Exclusive Darth Maul is available starting October 12 with a minimum purchase of $35 on Star Wars LEGO.

Yeah I'm going to bringing some CMF doubles and seeing what's up. I don't need that extra tennis player or highland warrior. Also, the Darth Maul will likely be available for purchase, too. Most of the 'free' polybags end up in a bin for $5 each. Last week picked up a few ghosts, week before this mining quad.

How much was shirtless Maul going for a few months ago? ^^

Our TRU has been a mixed bag in terms of the polybags so far. They received a TON of the minig quad, so I was able to grab one off the shelf (on the Saturday) no problem. But with the ghost, they only had a 'limited quantity' and were sold out by the Friday night (not surprising with what it was).

I'm hoping to grab one of the Maul's, but Lord knows what'll be around.

All I know for sure is that I'm taking the morning off work on the 30th to grab the Elrond that goes along with the LEGO LOTR game. Figure they'll have 'limited quantities' of those as well.

I am assuming they are talking about Shirtless Darth Maul. If that's the case, a good deal on him is around $20.00. I think this is a good deal for us Canadians, the deals are far and few between.

I am curious as to how this mini-fig swap works. Can they be out of the package, in good condition? Are we swapping for sealed CMF's? Oh the questions...

Anyone have some more information on this? I looked the TRU site and did not see much information there

@Dodge yeah the quad is now hanging around Wsmonron roo. So's Frodo. I haven't been to my store since Saturday (picked up Helm's Deep 20% off), they had a big bin of ghosts but they looked to be going faster. I have three total so I'm happy. Interesting note for the EB Elrond - with the Lex minifig for LEGO Batman 2, I went in a week after the game was released and asked if they had any extra. My store at least had TONS, they just gave me one. I'm hoping to get an Elrond the same way...

Sounds like a great idea. I know the entertainer used to do trade days for crazy bones / moshi monsters / match attax that were always welcome. Hopefully UK retailers will do the same.

I'd bet that it would be like trading the Hallmark mystery ornaments. Collectors bring their duplicates on the designated day and trade with other collectors. That's what seems to make the most sense to me.

I just left the TRU in London Ontario, was able to pickup 3 of Darth Maul, and pre ordered 3 LOTR games. I also asked about the minifig trade in, and each staff member will have a fig on their name tag, when you trade with them your fig replaces it on their tag. So it seems the first few trades may get the new fig, and everyone else will get a use one. Now he did say, "this is how I understand it". So we will find out tomorrow.

My Financee went to Toys R Us for me this morning when the doors opened and they didnt even know about Darth Maul Until they read the flyer. Another words they couldn't even find their stock. I believe she got a rain check if that is at all possible ?

Called two TRU stores and this is how it works:

When you see a TRU associate, each of them would have a mini figure stick (tape, attach) to their shirt. You can bring in as many mini figures you want to trade as you want. Once you trade your first one, you can find another associate and trade your second one. There is no limit nor no age restriction (you don't need to be a kid to participate into this event). I believe the TRU associates are having brand new mini figures to trade at store opening, but once his/her mini figure gets trade, what you will get is an old one got trade before.

Just got a maul fig along with 9498 from an Ottawa Toys r us. They had a good supply so call and check if you're in the area.

Legoland has a similar trading outlet with all their park employees and they have designated trading outpost in their park where you trade a minifig for a minifig. The problem is that there are no rules and collectibles minifigs soon become random common minifigs from playsets or mismatched minifigs or collectibles minifigs without their accessories. It is a nice idea but difficult to manage properly.

It was a exactly as others had predicted. TRU staff had open packages of CMF series 8 and anyone who got their early traded their mismatched and old minifigures. Unfortunately, those that came later were out of luck. Most just kept their own figures rather than trade for the "undesirables", and believe me the selection was terrible. The event was a bust at my TRU. Staff packed up the table within an hour once they new no one wanted to trade. It would have been better if they organized a big trading event between kids rather than with staff

Horrible indeed,
Got there late afternoom yesterday with my step-son, no clerk had any sign or showing that they had minifigs. Once we found a clerk that had minifigs (not all of them had and seems they were hiding), well the selection they had was most horrible, minifigs without accessories or hair. Most of the minifigs available at that hour had chewing mark, pencil mark and some were even broken.

TRU, should had ask that the minifigs to be exchange should had in be in good to excellent condition with accessories if coming from any series. They should had created a spot were customers to customers could exchange their minififs has well.

My step-son was very dissapointed, so was I. He won't have the luck to go back today since he's with his father and his father is not really into legos.

Strange note: the display of minifigs were empty or almost empty just like parents with dissapointed kids got them a brand new serie 8 minif to ease the sadness

Ottawa area: my TRU clerks knew about the promos and were very kind and all, I called before rushing there to know if it was worth it (the trading) but the employee told me most "interesting ones" were already gone because some people have been waiting in line before the store opened its doors.

But she said thay had plenty Mauls and vol. 3 vintage minifig collection boxes. So I went in the afternoon to get SW Gungan Sub ($89.99... ouch. Christmas present for my son though) and the cashier thought I was supposed to choose between either Maul or the vintage collection. I insisted a bit and he thought my request made sense, called his manager right away and off I went with my 2 promos combined. I tried to buy Maul alone but they wouldn't let me :-) I would have traded the vintage box for 1 Maul anytime, but that will make excellent stocking stuffers.

Off topic: my Wal-Mart have the Monster Fighters Werewolf dicounted at $19.77 instead of $24.86 (TRU was 26.99$!). Makes a really nice "Halloween Present"... if that kind of name can justify the purchase. I thought it was worth mentioning because with Halloween coming, I wasn't expecting these sets to go on sale before Nov. 1st.
