New set news Posted by Huw, Oct 28 2009 4:54PM

Brickset member et314 ran the Swedish blog Legobloggen through Google translator and found out the following snippet of news about the next Cafe-Corner-Compatible building: "Right now the snacks on a set of numbers 10211th. (The set name is as yet unknown). According to the information it must be a building with a corner shop and consist of 2182 pieces. Colour scheme is said to be gray and yellow with black windows. The price data are suggesting a price of Kr 1499.90. Release date is said to be March 2010." Eurobricks is also reporting very similar news so that's yet another set to look forward to in 2010!

£1499.90??? What's LEGO thinking about? That's the most expensive LEGO set EVER! Or is it a typo? MUST be £149.90! BTW, that translation is REALLY bad! What does "Right now the snacks on a set of numbers 10211th" mean?!?

EDIT: I think the "Kr" before the price in the original site doesn't mean the pound but the Swedish currency!

Posted by Lego-Dude in Canada, Oct 28 2009 5:36PM:

I will probably like to buy this as well as the Fire Brigade, but 1499.90! This number is in Swedish Krona (Kr.), converted to British pounds is £129.3637, and American Dollars is $212.4083, a lot less than £1499.90!

Posted by broxi in United Kingdom, Oct 28 2009 5:53PM:

heard this is going to be £97, and $149

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, Oct 28 2009 5:58PM:

Thanks -- you're right, it's not £ but Kr, so I guess £100 will be about right given the usual mark up in Sweden.

sounds like a department store with the name off Grand Emporium.....cant wait.....finally started building 10182 cafe corner tonight.....

Wow, I got on the front page! Thanks! This sounds awesome, by the way!

Very exciting news. If the color scheme holds true then the yellow will make a nice addition to the existing palette of CC style buildings. I would even consider getting two and use the second to build a Post Office using the yellow.

Saw this on Eurobricks yesterday. Still though, it's great to know that the line IS continuing. From the likes of it, it sounds like the designers are hoping to make a whole city block!

I'm looking forward to images. If this is another corner building, are they deisgning and entire block? That would be brilliant.
I hope it is big but not too large, the Fire House seemed to almost dwarf the others.

Miridian on Eurobricks, who has inside-contacts, have used his "mental powers" to reveal that the building is actually tan and grey with dark green windows, and will include five figures - One of these being a window-cleaner using a suspended lift.

Oh, and the name is strongly hinted at being "10211 Grand Emporium".

It is also apparently a corner building, if those on EB are to be believed.

Sounds good, there is plenty of mileage in this range yet, I think we need:

A Police station
A Bank
A Post Office
A Cinema - I know there is a frontage in town plan but how about the whole thing?
An Apartment block - could create a whole block and re-enact Rear Window!!
An Office block
An Embassy might be interesting

I missed Cafe Corner myself but reviews seem mixed so I won't worry too much, especially with all these possibilities.

Oh, wow! So this is why I've had a small peak in visitors. ;) Yes, I'm the editor of that Swedish blogg.

The intel I have right now has changed some, mosly regarding the colorscheme. And I think that when pictures start to leak we'll se the "usual" divided community with some loving it and others disliking it. All I can say is that I _love_ it. Even though there are some things that, in my opinion, don't quite fit in.

How about a pub or a proper hotel?

Posted by legomaniac in United States, Oct 29 2009 11:49PM:

Only If I had a spare room, I could have a great LEGO town. Apartments sounds great, 98% of my minifigures are homeless. Plus a Bank would have alot of 1x2 chrome gold bricks maybe a working vault

Posted by copperwonder96 in United States, Oct 30 2009 2:26AM:

@legomaniac, LOL! 98% of my minifigures are cityworkers. The new Emporium should help bring new types of jobs to Lego City. The only problem however, no one is smart enough to work the cash registers because there is NO SCHOOL!

So this is that "Grand Emporium" thing?

Posted by Wells in United States, Oct 30 2009 2:57PM:

I really want to see a proper cinema done... actually, a proper theater with stage and green room, etc. would be even better. A projection booth above for lighting, perhaps some sort of curtain, and an orchestra pit. I think that would be an incredible set to have.

Posted by sidneyleejohnson in United States, Oct 31 2009 2:47PM:

Also where is the pub/drinking establishment? Or is that the first floor of Cafe corner?

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, Nov 1 2009 12:59AM:

Maybe the new CCC will be a bank, would be cool. I could install a breakaway wall in the back and have some fun with the agents river chase.

Posted by mirandir in Sweden, Nov 2 2009 3:55PM:

GameOn99: No bank this time. It's a "Grand Emporium" which is pretty much just a fancier name for a department store.

Posted by mlavwilson in United States, Nov 2 2009 4:55PM:

I found an image, maybe: http://bricksinsuit.blogspot.com/2009/11/10211-grand-emporium.html

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, Nov 2 2009 5:41PM:

That's a MOC, not the set.

Posted by mlavwilson in United States, Nov 2 2009 6:04PM:

I like the MOC.

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, Nov 4 2009 2:22PM:

I like it to but you can tell it's not it because the people are fleshies, is that indiana jones.

mirandir: I know, i'm just saying that they should make a bank. but not anymore, I made my own, BAW and everything. I'm good.

Posted by StormSworder in United Kingdom, Nov 6 2009 9:21PM:

I'd also like it if they made:

A school
A library
A hospital
A leisure centre
An aquarium

That remade Eldorado Fortress on that website is great. If only they'd release that.

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, Nov 10 2009 11:49PM:

An aquarium would be cool, but how would everything float? not clear bicks, It would not work. I think that the hospital would be better, they need a redo from the 2005 one, if that is when they made the last one.
