Free polybags in the Netherlands again

  • Free polybags in the Netherlands again

Posted by Huw, 27 Oct 2012 15:07. Filed under Shopping (Europe).

Dutch DIY store Gamma is once again offering free LEGO polybags with certain purchases (the previous promotion was this time last year).

It looks as if you have to spend quite a lot to get hold of them for free, but I seem to recall that they could be purchased individually in store either during or after the promotion last time. Full details can be found on the Gamma website.

    The selection is:

    • Fire Chief, LEGO City, 30010
    • Firefighting Helicopter, LEGO City, 30019
    • Car, LEGO Ninjago, 30087
    • Police Aircraft, LEGO City, 30018
    • Police Boat, LEGO City, 30017
    • Mining quad, LEGO City, 30152
    • Hidden sword, LEGO Ninjago, 30086
    • Office, LEGO Friends, 30102
    • Mining Bulldozer, LEGO City, 30151
    • Catching snakes, LEGO Ninjago, 30085

Here's a BrickList showing them all.

Now, who was it who was whinging in the comments about a lack of LEGO promotions in Holland, crazytaxi? :-)

Thanks to Arnold for the news.

Can I start to whine about the lack of LEGO promotions in Germany now? ;-)

Can I stop to whine about the lack of actual promotions in the USA?

What do we get for free? A blah mini figure if you buy a video game for $50-60 that will be $20 in 3 months.

You guys in USA have the best prices for Lego.

Posted by Leggo my LEGO in Canada, 27 Oct 2012 17:09

Yeah, here in canada its not uncommon that you have to pay $20 more for some of the bigger sets.

Made a BrickList of these when the promotion started and sent Brickset staff a notification about it but apparently you didn't receive that (I actually figured you found it not worth mentioning given that you're mainly UK&USA oriented, or so it seems). Anyway, have one of each now, might buy doubles when the price drops; now they're €3,99 each.

If I was US based I would be at every comic con I could be ;-) We don't even get anything special at fairs (not that we really have many)

Also as Blufunk said, your prices are amazing and then you get all the discounts plus BF... I wish we at least had a "discount day" ;-)

^^ Sorry if I missed that, thanks for doing the list.

^ No problem (hope I didn't sound irritated or anything). I'm a bit disappointed about 'our' promotion being somewhat plain compared to the line-up in your Sun-promotion; wish we had some Super Heroes or LotR. But yes, it beats having no promotion at all!

It still bothers me that the "Hidden Sword" is actually a sai. But I love the little Friends office set. And I'd still love the police microlight plane, and the little fire helicopter.

Already got a hold of seven polybags this week. Bought six shelves, each of them got me a free polybag and because I spend more then a certain amount they gave me another one. But I sure needed the shelf space!:-)

@ Huw: several of these are also part of the currently ongoing polybag offer for Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws (which you reported on: http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=4128 ), yet that offer is not mentioned in the notes for those sets.

You have to spend at least 50 euros to get 1 bag. There are special promotions on some products where you get more bags. Like the drill I bought last week for 60 euros, I got 3 bags with the drill and 1 because the price was above 50 euros.

Polybags here again! Yeay!
Its a shame there are no LotR of Super Hero sets. It seems all the really good bags go to GB.
Still. Ploybags, Yeay!!!

@ BJMdotLEGO: Set notes have been updated for those sets which are involved in the newspaper promotion currently underway in Belgium. Thanks for the reminder :-)

Thanks Grahame, and just as a reminder to everyone, we have to do that sort of database update manually and it takes time and effort to do so, which explains why we might not do it straight away.

I also mentioned it a week ago or so, maybe there's something wrong with the mailing system?

Posted by crazytaxi in Netherlands, 29 Oct 2012 04:49

In the same message that I'am 'whinging' that there are no (realty good) promotions at The Netherlands (example: polybags at newspapers, even in Belgium!) I have mention the promo from 'The Gamma'.
The comment from me was that you have spend 50 euros for 1 polybag of 3,99 euros. How much cost The Sun for 1 polybag.....there you have it, and that's my point... ;-)

We Dutch love to complain and have every reason to do it too. Prices are higher than in The US or UK, a discount mostly means a mark up (and believe me, a set that costs 130 euro became a 150 euro set with a discount that brought it to a whopping 140 euro overnight (So set: 8098 (clone turbotank costs a whopping 193,46 dollars instead of the listed price of 119,99)). So when we get a promotional thing with 'free' polybags that have been swimming around for some time in other shops. Well we are kinda bummed out.

Oh, and I love the superhero line but you have to battle your way through shops to get your hands on one set and if you actually want something special (a Thor or a Hawkeye figure) you have to pay 15 bucks just for the sake of it.

Hell, I even saw some fairs where they opened sets, freshly bought from a discount store around the corner for five euro's, to get the figures out and to resell them for 6 euro's a fig.

And this might have nothing to do with free promotions but Holland is a sad, sad, sad country for collectors. And I want some interesting sets instead of rehashed and far from unique figures.

The Friends office poly bag is also available in the blokker near me in The Hague.
