Wicked looking Lego model. I'd never seen it before but the color is great. Just ordered 2, thank you! Not very opportunities roll around to buy a retired set at MSRP.

I might be interested!

Having seen one of these sitting outside a Police station a recent trip to Sicily, I am very jealous that they are available at that price in the US! I could hardly believe that they actually existed. Apparently the Metropolitan Police have one too!

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 05 Nov 2012 17:50

It was sold out over a year ago on the US Lego shops. 28 in stock.

Posted by chowrentoys.com in Canada, 05 Nov 2012 18:30

There are 26 left now! If the demand is there for more then we will see what we can do about making more available. Thank you everyone for your support of this deal. Don't forget to use the Brickset link to purchase this set so that Huw and the team at Brickset can get their referral payment. Thank you, Jack.

Thanks for offering a discount to Brickset members, Jack - much appreciated !

Thanks for the discount. This wasn't on my radar but the discount and advertising helped. I ordered a set.

Posted by Lego_Moose in Canada, 05 Nov 2012 19:42

Do you guys not ship to Canada?

Posted by Isabella and Lego Liker in United States, 05 Nov 2012 19:49

@Lego Moose: I did a test order for Canada, and it shows about 70 countries on the list.

Posted by chowrentoys.com in Canada, 05 Nov 2012 19:56

@Lego_Moose: We ship world wide. You just need to add the set(s) to your cart and go through the check out process for the shipping options to show up. It is the limitation of the software we use so I do want to apologize to all you and all of our international customers for any inconvenience this may cause. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have further questions or concerns. Thank you, Jack.

Hallo everyone! This car it's a Lamborghini - the factory of that dream-car donate two cars to the Italian Traffic Patrol (Polizia Stradale) with the official colours, are normally used to transport organs for transplant!
...of cours I own one... Ciao from Italy

Posted by Bumblepants in Cameroon, 06 Nov 2012 07:17

So glad for a chance to get this at a good price, the Lambos have always been on my 'why didn't I get one?' regrets list. Can't wait to build it

Posted by tdh-br in United States, 06 Nov 2012 16:33

Never saw it before but couldn't resist. Thanks for the great deal!

Posted by rosney in United States, 06 Nov 2012 18:30

$15 shipping to Michigan? Really? I can't justify a shipping charge that is 25% of the price of the thing, sorry.

Posted by tantalus in United States, 06 Nov 2012 18:56

Agreed about shipping, but I did buy one, only because the item is a pretty good deal. But they really should think about lowering the shipping costs. I do enough shipping myself to know that it's way overpriced.

Posted by chowrentoys.com in Canada, 06 Nov 2012 19:08

Tensor,
I checked our system to make sure that there are no glitches in shipping charges and there is not. Chowren Toys NEVER advertise a discount then try to make money on shipping. We occasionally over estimate but we then refund our buyer. The shipping weight for the set is 4lbs 5 oz and shipping box dimension is 16x16x5. Our shipping zip code is 98370. We charged a $2.50 shipping and handling which true for all of our store order not just on this deal. Our handling charges, barely cover boxes, packing material and most importantly our time and effort to pack the box well. You can go to USPS.com and FedEx.com to calculate the shipping charges. Just to put things in perspective. FedEx, UPS and USPS have fairly similar ground shipping rate. But usually FedEx and UPS is faster. FedEx has residential surcharge of $2.75 per package and if you live in a rural area then there is another surcharge of $2.50. That is $5.25 on top of the regular shipping charges. If you have not ship much lately you really would be surprised how expensive to ship things now a day. Base on the response from the orders that we got, we believe that we are offering a great deal for a lot of the reader. It makes no sense for us to offer a real good deal then try to cheat you out of couple dollars. We are always happy to answer any questions regarding our services and charges. Thank you.
Jason

Glad Brickset is important enough now that we get special discounts.

Posted by chowrentoys.com in Canada, 06 Nov 2012 19:45

@tensor & tantalu it is funny you mention about the shipping as I was just in the process of going over all the shipping from today and seeing if there are any over charges. I did find a few and will be refunding those buyers shortly. For those who placed your order yesterday I just want to quickly apologize for the lack of communication as we were experiencing some problems with our email server all day. All of your orders were shipped today and you should be getting the tracking information shortly if you have not already received it. For all the orders placed today they will be shipped out tomorrow. Thank you again to everyone who placed your order with us. We are very grateful for all of your business. Sincerely, Jack.

Posted by chowrentoys.com in Canada, 06 Nov 2012 19:57

There were quite a few duplicate and pending orders that got canceled so more 8214s are now available in our store. Once these run out that will be the end of this special offer. Thank you, Jack.

Posted by rosney in United States, 06 Nov 2012 20:25

Just to be clear, I'm not saying you overcharged, just that it was too much for me at the end of the day. I'm not a shipper, so I can't speak much to costs overall (boxes, packing, labor, etc.) but all I know is that paying 25% of an item to ship is too much for me. It's probably too bad that Amazon has spoiled most people on shipping. I really wish I had suggestions for making it better, but as it is, mid-weight boxes (3-10 lbs) tend to get shafted when it comes to shipping costs.

Posted by vpustote in United States, 06 Nov 2012 22:22

Jack,

Do you happen to send tracking along with your orders. I would like to know about when it will arrive.

Thanks

Posted by bsiu922 in United States, 06 Nov 2012 23:31

Same here, $13 USPS shipping and 15 UPS ground to 94579, hard to swallow! need to pass!

but thanks for the offer for such a great set!

Posted by chowrentoys.com in Canada, 07 Nov 2012 10:39

@vpustote yes, we always provide shipping information once the order has been shipped. We are having a bit of problems with our email server the last couple of days so the shipment confirmation emails did not all get sent out. We are in the process of switching to our back up service to get this problem fixed. We want to apologize to you and everyone who ordered from us for any inconvenience this has caused. You can also log into your chowrentoys.com store account and get the tracking number there. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Sincerely, Jack.

What @Tensor say about Amazon is so true. Here is an article about how Amazon can "spoil" their customer, by not worrying about profit. I wonder what happens when they wipe out all the business that can't do that? Have you notice there are very few if any local toy stores out there?
http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/2012/10/26/amazon_profits_they_don_t_exist_but_the_company_keeps_on_keeping_on.html
Thank you
Jason

Posted by Margot in United States, 07 Nov 2012 11:33

We are spoiled by free shipping. If you ship something yourself then you know that $15 is not unreasonable. Also I prefer to have the UPS, USPS, or Fedex truck come to my house instead of the random guy in a beat up car which has been the trend with Amazon lately. Also, those shipping costs pay my salary. :-) (md-11 pilot)

Posted by rosney in United States, 07 Nov 2012 19:47

For the record, I went ahead and bought one anyway, because Jack seems to be giving his heart and soul here and dammit, I can respect that.

Posted by chowrentoys.com in Canada, 07 Nov 2012 20:57

@tensor thank you so much for you kind words and order. It is just basic customer service not just from me, but from everyone at Chowrentoys.com. We are very grateful for your business. Sincerely, Jack.

Posted by gamesgem in United Kingdom, 08 Nov 2012 18:39

Chowrentoys, you deserve the business, great offer, good customer service is a rare thing these days, Im sure everyone who has taken advantage of this offer will be deligted when they get the set, I know I cant wait.
Thanks and regards.

Try driving a car 10 miles to a store and back, to pick up a box, and calculate the cost. Then shipping might not seem that expensive.

Posted by calirican04 in United States, 09 Nov 2012 01:12

Thanks Chowrentoys! I received my set today. Great packaging and fast shipping to SoCal. Can't wait to build it.
