Advent day 14

Advent day 14Carrying on with the fire theme, today we appear to have some equipment for practicing putting out fires, just so our miniature firefighters can be prepared for the potential Christmas conflagration ...

Advent day 14In the Friends calendar, we have a dog basket and a bone for Wednesday's cute canine.

Advent day 14There have been a few grumbles in recent days about the lack of weapons for the Star Wars minifigs. Today they make up for that, with a little weapons rack so our Hoth-bound figures can now defend themselves.

Very like yesterday, today feels a bit like a 'filler' day; no minifigures, animals, vehicles or micro-scale ships. Not terrible, but not great either ...

City -- 5, not too bad, a few useful pieces for the firebugs out there.
Friends -- 5, again, not a lot to it, but some rare-ish colour/part combinations.
Star Wars -- 6, an accessory pack, like the other two calendars today, but you can now 'complete' a couple of the previous figures.

As Huw mentioned yesterday, I've taken over doing the reviews for a few days while he takes a well earned break. Huw will be back this time next week, but swing by tomorrow to find out if day 15 is going to be an improvement over the last couple of days. And don't forget to let us know your thoughts on today's Advent Calendar sets in the comments section below.

Is it just me or is the Star Wars set a bit of a cheat?
When would you ever not have your figures holding their weapons? A five piece weapon stand is hardly all that exciting - it's got even less to it than the weird one from last year. And actually, in context, the guns belong to people on opposite sides, so they wouldn't be using the same gun holder!
I say put the weapons in with the figures, lose the pathetic five piece stand, and give us another figure/model. The Star Wars calendar disappoints more every day.

OMG!!!!!! I wish I had bought the Star Wars calendar, the double red lightsaber makes it all worth it!!!!!!!

Snooooze . . . . .

A disappointing day in my opinion, the weapons rack is a pretty weak offering, and does not even arm all three Minifigures who require weapons so far (the Hoth Rebel, Hoth Imperial Officer and Security Battle Droid).

I know that we all know that we're going to get Darth Maul, but I think the should include the lightsaber with him, and include another gun today and have a more extravagant weapon rack.

Star Wars calendar has been a big disappointment this year. I like the dog bed.

I wish we had have gotten more than two blasters...

The City one is a 5? it's a box with flames. That gets a 2 just because the box is awesome, can't ever have too many of those. But really? Way too generous with the "reviews".

Starwars calender was pretty good today, not bothered about one lack of weapon. Slightly off topic but I've found some cmf series 9 in whsmiths today. Had a whole box so go and have a look. Great figs. Cheers for the review.

City calendar mark is generous.

For City this is rivalling the 4 wheels for the worst day sofar. A box with 2 flames? Seriously...

Box of fire gets a 5 but micro ATAT only gets a 4???

@The Green Brick Giant
In previous days, it's been the other way around, actually...

Pairing the box in the City calendar with the red hand truck looks pretty nice. I'm having my mechanic wheel around some equipment in it, and I set the stairs "on fire". :D

I think LEGO puts more thought into these than we give them credit for.
Although I must say I agree with the general notion that the weapons should be included with the figures. Wouldn't mind seeing some KotOR or other Expanded Universe stuff next year!

My biggest issue is that there is in no way enough weapons for all of the figures in the SW Calendar. With the Security Droid, the Rebel Trooper, and the Snowtrooper, that is a need for three blasters alone. Add to that the two Officers, and we are sorely lacking in weaponry.
