Advent day 15

Advent day 15Today in the fire-obsessed City calendar, we get a third section of wall which follows on from the previous sections received on Day 5 and Day 8. The accessories today can be assembled to create self-contained breathing apparatus for one of the minifigure fire fighters. The model also includes four more of the always welcome 'brick profile' bricks.

Advent day 15In the Friends calendar, we have a third section for Olivia's sledge. The build is pretty simple, but the parts (all 8 of them) are quite nice. How much longer can the sledge get? (The previous sections were from Day 2 and Day 10).

Advent day 15Another minifig from the Star Wars calendar today; not a rare or unique figure but a welcome 'army builder' - an Imperial Snow Trooper. Technically the figure in this particular configuration is unique to this set - the head hasn't been used on a Snow Trooper figure before, but it's the common 'Imperial Minion' head from the 2012 sets.

I feel that today is a welcome 'step up' from the last couple of days, and the scores reflect this.

City -- 7, another section of wall, with some useful accessories for play.
Friends -- 6, another section for Olivia's sledge, with some interesting and useful parts.
Star Wars -- 9, an always welcome addition to the Emperor's forces.

The Snow Trooper is a nice inclusion in my opinion, although I prefer mini models (when they are good at least), and the other two models look great too. All in all, a pretty good day I would say.

Gonna color the snowtroopers helmet purple and make him a galactic marine.

Huw wasn't generous enough with the scores, and bluemoose is too generous with the scores. O_o

I do love lots of those brick-bricks. But I figure we'll probably get plenty more of those in the years to come.

You may call this advent calendar "fire-obsessed", but it strikes me that it's nice as a change from the previous mainly "police-obsessed" calendars.

Personally, I'm quite fond of the recent trend towards "themed" City advent calendars. While I have nothing against the earlier City advent calendars which would bring in elements from various sub-themes, I like the variety offered by focusing on a different sub-theme each year.
