    Advent day 16In a break from the fire-fighting theme of the last few days, today the City calendar gives us another welcome minifigure - a young female with snowballs, to go with the young male figure from Day 6. As with many of the other figures in this year's advent calendars, while the figure is technically unique to this set (in that the parts have never been used together to create this specific figure in any previous set), the individual parts are fairly common. Still, a great minifigure!

    Advent day 16In the Friends calendar, we get what I assume is a bucket full of snow balls and a broom ... a little bizarre, but there you go. The bucket was originally a Belville piece; while it has been fairly common in Friends sets this year, and has popped up in a few other themes over the years, it isn't a very common piece. The broom originates with the Fabuland theme in the early 1980's, but has been included in many sets in recent years, including many Harry Potter sets, so is now fairly common. 

    Advent day 16Another of the popular mini vehicles in the Star Wars calendar; today it's the turn of Queen Amidala's Naboo Royal Starship (from Episode 1), a ship that continues to be a curious omission from the regular mini-fig compatible line. A nice little ship, and a great partner to the Naboo Starfighter from Day 7. Also, a nice mix of useful parts - 20 parts in total, including a couple of spares.

    Overall a good day, although the bucket and broom still feels like an odd inclusion ...

    City -- 8, a nice figure, in the spirit of the season and a great addition to a 'Winter Village' display.
    Friends -- 4, a bit odd and not very useful.
    Star Wars -- 8, another mini starship for the collection!

Big fan of the mini J-Type 327, still very strange that it's one of a fairly small number of ships that appeared for more than a couple seconds that doesn't have a minifig version of it, especially considering its relatively prominent role in Episode I. At least this shows that Lego hasn't completely forgotten about it!

A nice little model in the Star Wars calendar today, I had held out little hope for it seeing it on the box, but in person it looks fantastic.

Tha mini starship doesn't look anything like the Royal Naboo Starfighter. Or maybe my eyes are off in my old age.

I like the model of the Naboo vessel, but it seems really flat to me.

I think in the Friends calendar the bucket isn't full of snowballs, i think it's kitty litter or something to do with the cat.

It's truly odd, the Sith infiltrator has had five versions yet this vehicle has yet to be made into a set. I would say it's role is very prominent in episode I but it is oftan overlooked.

I theorize that the shiny surface of the vehicle complicates production and the lack of weapons would minimize playability.

The female hairpiece of the City minifigure is one of my favourite, and it has only appeared in about a dozen sets too so it's fairly uncommon. I wish LEGO would use it more often, and in some other colour than dark brown.

Interesting results today! For the first time the Friends calendar isn't out in the lead...it is now tied with the City one with a daily average of 6.88. Star Wars is just a little behind on 6.75.

I'm pretty sure the reason the Naboo Royal Starship hasn't been made into a set is because in the films it's chrome plated. I think chrome Lego pieces are expensive to make so TLG avoids them where possible.

Light silver pieces would do the trick in a cheap-budget version. Although there is still a chance of a chrome UCS version, slightly larger?

I don't think that anything other than chromed bricks would do Amidala's Nabo Royal Starfighter justice, and the cost would be prohibitive. There's a light bley version at LEGOLAND Windsor and it looks pretty drab; a drab AND blocky system scale version would probably bomb at retail....
