YAY! :D More Ninjago in 2014!!! :)

I knew Ninjago wouldn't end! I hope the TV show still continues... :D

No surprise here, I have picked up several Ninjago sets and they are great, but this says a lot about their hopes for Legends of Chima. But this is yet more conformation that the fans' opinions do matter!

It'll be interesting to see how long Ninjago continues as it appears to be Legos third best selling theme ATM.

My son will be ecstatic....my wallet, not so much.

If I have to continue buying Ninjago for my boys, how will I afford to buy Lego for myself. Pleaseeeeee, no more Ninjago

Posted by chrisbstm in United States, 17 Dec 2012 13:47

I got the Kai's fire mech set 70500 yesterday at TRU herein San Diego. I think they had just started putting anything from the stockroom onto the shelves cause it was sitting with the older sets no label or nothin. Anyhow, the set was 12 dollars and I was very satisfied. If they keep moving in the direction they're going, I'm excited for more sets like this one.

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 17 Dec 2012 13:56

That's great news. So what, are NinjaGo and LegendsOfChima going to be competing themes, or are we just getting NinjaGo sets without all the extras (Spinners, etc)? I wish the starting 2013 sets weren't so mech based, partly because I'm always judgemental about Lego's robot designs, but also because I don't see how giant robots relate to being a Ninja. I want more crazy fantasy stuff like dragons and airships. Legends of Chima can already meet anyone's quota for strange creature-themed vehicles.

Cyborg Ninjas??

Posted by FizzleMeSexy in United States, 17 Dec 2012 14:17

I wouldn't be surprised if Ninjago gets a bionicle sized run. Maybe they can actually create a ninja vs pirate set.

Soooo cool yes :D

Posted by vynsane in United States, 17 Dec 2012 14:32

@CapnRex101 - I don't think this necessarily says anything about TLG's faith in LoC, just that they realized the fanbase for Ninjago wasn't ready to move on, and they'd be foolish not to continue to profit from it.

@LostInTranslation - that's Zane. He's actually a robot.

Posted by Chocolate in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 14:33

Yep, Chima's been sidelined because Ninjago is proving too popular with the key demographic to discontinue.

Posted by matt8241 in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 14:34

awesome. i dont buy the sets but im army building the figures. might be able to split em into colour clans :D

Posted by Si_Dorking_Surrey in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 14:41

Chima and Ninjago are actually pretty much the same theme anyway .. races of animals in strange machines. Ninjago snakes are just a faction of Chima IMO.

Anyway its nice that Lego arent just discontinuing it for the sake of it, but it does make Chima seem like a strange move in this light. Branding the Chima factions as part of Ninjago might have made more sense.

Posted by guts16 in United States, 17 Dec 2012 14:54

I'm gonna get all the sets!!!

Posted by Plasmodium in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 14:56

..."Jammers"...?

Posted by Plasmodium in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 14:57

@LostInTranslation: Looks like some sort of Terminator-ninjago stuff going on there...

Posted by Legozrool in United States, 17 Dec 2012 14:58

Oh well I'm don't like them but if it helps Lego make money I'm fine with it :)

Posted by UtarEmpire in United States, 17 Dec 2012 15:01

Chima will probably end up being folded in to Ninjago "continuity", such as it is.

Posted by CapnRex101 in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 15:06

@vynsane - True, this decision makes perfect sense on Lego' part, but it seems to me that if they were extremely confident that Legends of Chima would be as successful as Ninjago, they would not have brought Ninjago back. It also seems odd to me having two themes with the same basic idea of a battling game running concurrently. I would agree with Si_Dorking_Surrey and UtarEmpire that the two themes may one day combine in some way.

Posted by Bailey1902 in United Kingdom, 17 Dec 2012 15:11

I'm really happy that they're continuing Ninjago! I wonder of they might have Robot Ninjas, but the picture looks like Zane did after he was attacked by the Great Devourer in "Day of the Great Devourer"

Posted by Dragon_Master_48 in United States, 17 Dec 2012 15:40

@the picture
Look at the reflection is Zane's eyes; not too sure what that is.

@Plasmodium
A method of not-so-so-secret-secret communication. =P

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that they hopefully won't be ending Ninjago.

Posted by Nabii in Denmark, 17 Dec 2012 15:46

LoC and Ninjago have very little to do with one another (apart from sharing a few Designers) - Chima was never 'replacing' Ninjago (except maybe in the marketing/advertising budget) and any decision made about ending or continuing Ninjago has nothing to do with the Chima theme. Some marketing person in the US linked his excitement about the new theme of LoC to Ninjago ending and for some reason now everyone has to like one or the other? It's nuts - no one argues about room for both Lord of the Rings and Star Wars!

Enjoy having two quite different yet awesome LEGO created universes running side by side (as they will be in January) for as long as you can. This is lightening in a bottle twice over and perhaps the Golden Age of LEGO play themes. The Chima TV show is great and the universe, as you'll find out soon, is just as awesome but distinctly different from Ninjago, this is is going to be a fun ride!

So there are gonna be 2013 summer sets!!!!!

Posted by Clan Stonebraker in United States, 17 Dec 2012 15:59

My 5 year old was soooo excited he took a a picture of the robo-ninja poster with his leappad, (which, though has a white or perhaps grey head scarf, has brown hair unlike Zane's Blond?) Most importantly we want to see more of the series and the return of Pythor and Skales. (and no, Pythor is not dead, I've seen him escape the Great Devourer twenty times on the dvd and doubled checked in slo-mo.) It will also give him and his 3 year old brother time to grow into the more advanced sets.

Posted by m. kalores in United States, 17 Dec 2012 16:45

I don't understand how people see a connection between Ninjago and Chima. Its like connecting Star Wars with Family Guy. Just because Family Guy might have Star Wars episodes doesn't make them going to merge with Star Wars in the future. I'm looking forward to both Chima and the continued Ninjago lines and both are completely different worlds imo.

My little brother says its a christmas miracle.

Ps. what about the final battle on the boxes? hows that work?

i suppose this means that we need a new main villan, since garmadon is good now... or justbturn him evil again

Posted by QwertyLEGO in United States, 17 Dec 2012 18:50

NOOOOO!!! We need some thing different for once!!! D:

Posted by TooMuchLEGO in United States, 17 Dec 2012 19:10

I like how the first comment on the forum is "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" Why would it concern him, it's not like this Ninjago stuff continuing means it's the end of the world...

Posted by Starwarsgeek500 in United States, 17 Dec 2012 19:34

Since Pythor is still alive, maybe he will show up?
Or robot enemies? Other ninja?
Who knows?

YESSSSS!!!!!!!!

Posted by The Green Brick Giant in United States, 17 Dec 2012 21:02

I'm old enough to remember the Ty Beanie Baby mess of the late 90s. Back then Ty thought it would be a good idea to announce that they would stop making Beanie Babies. A few months later they announced that they would continue making them. But by then the fans have ditched ship. I wonder if the same thing will hurt NinjaGo sales.

I haven't ever bought a single set (but I do love the snake mini figures), but I'm buying the $10 mech that is coming out in 2013. Love it. Hope more mechs in 2014.

Posted by tmgm528 in United States, 17 Dec 2012 21:14

I'm a tfol and thank god it's staying not only for buying but I thought all my ninjagos value would go down since they were gone. Also if you look in Zane's eye there is another nindroid or robot thing...:/ interesting. Maybe Cartoon Network will have a lego chima/ninjago power hour.

Posted by EveryNowAndZen in United States, 17 Dec 2012 21:35

I'm actually glad to hear this. Even as a grown man (who should probably get on this "maturity" thing everyone is talking about) I've enjoyed Ninjago, and this is another one of those signs that Lego listens to its fanbase. We're so lucky!

Posted by MrVx in Canada, 17 Dec 2012 21:58

Omg my boys are going to be SO happy!!! I can't wait to tell them tomorrow. I'm going to shamessly use this news to get them out of bed and ready early for school :-D

^You realize you're agreeing to yourself, right?

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 18 Dec 2012 04:30

Is this the same way that Kingdoms/Castle 'continued' in 2012 (one large set and a chess set)... and also 'this is your year!' for Heroica?

TLG don't just make snap decision based on fan requests, sets and themes take years to design and produce so I'm guessing this has either always been a possibility and will be a short run. Or we all misjudged Chima as Ninjago's replacement and in fact it will be a one-and-done with Ninjago coming back in 2014??

Posted by Brickbuilder0937 in United States, 18 Dec 2012 07:37

9 pages into the topic where this was announced the announcer posted this info:

Is Ninjago really ending?
Actually, we have more Ninjago sets planned for next year and 2014! Stay tuned to our website, catalog, and club magazine for more information in the future!

I heard that the Ninjago cartoon is ending and there won’t be any more episodes. Is that true?
We have plans for Ninjago in 2013. We can’t tell you about them just yet.

Is Chima replacing Ninjago?
Even though we have new Chima sets coming next year, we also have new Ninjago sets too! Chima is a brand new theme, not a replacement for Ninjago. You’ll be able to get more information about Chima and Ninjago after the New Year!

History has been made: A LEGO Message Board post has been used as a news source for the first time. :P

Posted by sonsofsceva in United States, 18 Dec 2012 11:07

@Nabii - Thanks for the insight (you should know)!

The reflection in Zane's eyepiece points to another ninja in a ZX uniform with a red eyepiece. Cyber ninja? Steampunk ninjas? We shall see.

My boys would love to have a "LEGO Power Hour" on Cartoon Network, with both Ninjago and Legends of Chima (like the old Nintendo Power Hour - which definitely shows my age).

CAN'T WAIT SO HAPPY THIS IS MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT AND PLEASE BRING THE SHOW BACK CHIMA SHOW IS RUBBISH !
BUT HOW ARE THE NEW ENEMYS REALLY WANT TO FIND OUT!

Posted by murphquake in United States, 18 Dec 2012 21:53

When I read this in my newsfeed the first thing that popped into my mind was a Ninjago movie.

@Nabii, Mark you're 100% right, and I like "golden age of playthemes" I'm glad SW & LOTR co-exist. I'm a SW guy but I liked The Hobbit when I read it in HS and have been getting the sets for parts at least.

@Green Brick Giant, Kai's Fire Mech is GREAT! You'll love it!

Posted by Clan Stonebraker in United States, 18 Dec 2012 22:57

I really don't believe that's Zane, look at the hair. Plus there is the Terminator inference, "We Will Be Back" instead of "I'll be back." Perhaps a league of evil robo-ninjas?

Posted by rockbrick in Gibraltar, 19 Dec 2012 08:31

That is good news, my kids just started getting into it (read: 2nd hand value came down enough for me to get some for them) and now they can keep seeing an evolution of this for 2 more years...
