Advent day 18

  • Advent day 18

Advent day 18A slightly odd model today from the City advent calendar, with a touch of toilet humour ... the fire hydrant is a nice little model (only five elements though), and the dog is one of the modern 'police' dogs with a printed face.

Advent day 18In the Friends calendar, we get a cutesy wrapped gift. Not a great deal to it, and not a huge amount of play value, but a nice little model with a few interesting parts.

Advent day 18Yet another minfigure in the Star Wars calendar today ... this time it's a rebel trooper, most famously from the start of Episode 4, when Princess Leia's CR90 Corvette, the Tantive IV, is boarded by Imperial Forces.

Overall an okay day; the dog and minifigure are nice, and the two models are okay, with useful parts.

City -- 8, a nice little model, with some useful parts, and a great dog.
Friends -- 7, seasonal and cute, with a couple of nice parts.
Star Wars -- 9, someone to bolster the Rebel ranks.

City: The dog looks great with the printed head; the fire hydrant isn't very much, though.

Friends: Average, but fits well with the theme.

Star Wars: A bit... generic?? Not even some sort of specilized rebel, just the average troop?

I think the dog is supposed to be weeing on the fire hydrant! Now we need that loo roll from yesterday.

I have two City calendars, and I got a different 1x1 brick with 1 knob in each. One had the "headlight" version (pictured above) that it's supposed to come with, but the other one came with the other variation (part #87087). Kinda annoying, actually!

I love that they included a dog with the fire hydrant. TLG always have a nice sense of humour.

City and Star Wars look good. LOVE those "generic" rebels troops! Among my favorite troop builder figs. (I'm not a fan of the "generic" Endor dudes. Hoth are ok.)

A nice Star Wars offering today, the calendar is gradually improving I think.

As generic as the Rebel is (and usually the most iconic of Rebels), this is only the third set he's appeared in, after the battle pack and the most recent Tantive IV. Generic in this case is good, because he's rare-generic! I was pleased with the minifigure (but I wouldn't say a 9 - he'd be a 9 if he had a blaster, not sure what would make it a 10...).

^ I agree. I wish he came with a blaster. Mine is attempting to waive his hand and use the Force on the armed Hoth Snowtrooper. Not looking good for him though...

^ Hahaha, I recently purchased the Y-wing, and Cermonial Leia comes with a blaster, which she really doesn't need, so I gave said blaster to my Rebel Trooper instead :)

^^
Mine's trying to use interpetive dance to confuse him. Hard to tell if it's working, all the Snowtroopers have helmets on...

I bought 2 of the rebel battle packs, because it's a great figure...glad to have another (my 10th, since I have the Tantive IV also...a great set!). Though we do have one more bad day of this calendar (I've looked ahead at pictures), sadly...

As long as it's only one more bad one, not all of the rest. I am a day ahead (in Australia), and no. 19 is pretty good in my opinion. Anyway, that's for tomorrow - wait and see :)
