An Official News Report on Cuusoo

  • An Official News Report on Cuusoo

There is, what appears to be, a full, televised, and in depth news report on the Cuusoo Summer Review.

It can be found here and starts around 15:15.

Unfortunately, being uneducated I can only look at the pretty pictures and guess what is being said.  It is, I assume, all in Danish.

What I can tell you is that each of the models is presented and discussed.  I would really appreciate it if someone who knows the language would mind filling the rest of us in on the story.

    Cheers and Thanks in advance!

From the look of it, I don't think it's Lego specific... it appears to be an item about how companies, that happen to be Danish in this case, go about their creative process, and contrasts the professional designer approach with amateur submissions, both unsolicited (the Danish pensioner building biblical vignettes who appears to turn his nose up at the Modular Western) and formally sought out via the internet and Cuusoo in particular.

Just a guess, mind.

Google Translator perhaps?

It's a news story about how big companies harvest ideas from the public, specially about how Lego does it with cuusoo.
The Rifter is described as nice but slightly flimsy, not a play toy. bttf has appeal for both youngsters as a good looking car and older fans of the movies. Zelda is nice but troublesome with too many new molds and pieces like the pointy ears. Western town is nice and they praise the modular system.

The Lego part starts at 15:21 with the pensioner. I don't speak Danish, but I did enjoy seeing the BTTF model and the rest build and been discussed. I loved the look of the Western town. Interesting to see Lego been mentioned like this in the media.

Yes, very nice to see all the CuuSoo models.
I put the whole Lego part up on youtube, by the way.

The pensioner (who is a LEGO Ambassador, and has a site at saksun.dk) isn't "turning his nose up" at the Modular Western Town as Targellian suggests, I believe he's saying that it's the one he's most enthusiastic about because it's "his genre".

I did say "appears"... so I apologise to the chap. :)

The BBC often has Lego items on its' website, including a rather spectacular half-scale Rolls Royce Trent jet engine built by Bright Bricks posted back in July.

Coincidentally, today in the Daily Mail was an article about AFOLs, including some builders who are members here on Brickset, I am not going to risk naming them and missing anybody out :P

Here is a link to the online version: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2253927/Lego-Maniacs-Thought-Lego-kids-Meet-men-women-spend-20-hours-week-playing-millions-little-bricks.html

If anybody's interested, I've just translated the whole thing as a service to the community. It's a pretty interesting story, especially their comments on the Modular Western Town. Here's the link:

the MWT in the video (which was presumably a prototype similar to what might have been produced) is a pretty significant downsize from the Cuusoo model. Seeing that, I'm no longer nearly as disappointed, as the final model would have been ho-hum at best and left us all wanting the "real" thing in twice the size

Thanks a lot Arejh, I will update the article to contain your transcript.

Definately NOT "a full, televised, and in depth news report on the Cuusoo Summer Review". More like a info on entrepreneurs who start businesses with their new ideas. And CUUSOO is mentioned as a curious example of a business idea that help other "business ideas". As for CUUSOO the LEGO company only tell what we already know but shows some interesting models that might be the LEGO designers first take on how the sets might end up looking. The BTTF car looks btw really great.

I find that very interesting, and it was entertaining to watch. Thanks, Arejh, for the translation; there was no way I could have understood what they were saying, unfortunately. The translation made it much more enjoyable. :)
