    10232-3Flickr user motayan has posted a set of images of 10232 Palace Cinema.

    I've no idea where he got them from, they look as if they should accompany an official press release, but that hasn't been forthcoming yet.

    Unfortunately they are all a bit small so we can't appreciate them fully but they are big enough to be able to see that it's absolutely gorgeous!

That looks fantastic, a must have in my opinion.

Now we have seen the inside, it is not overcrowded with furniture etc. although the car doubtless inflates the price a little, so overall I would price this set at around the £120 mark.

I think we have seen the end of the Modular Buildings theme and they will now all be released as Creator models. It certainly looks that way.

Oh my god!! I want it now!! That looks amazing.. really am going to need a bigger house!! Can't wait to add it to my collection... can't wait to see what the movies are... 'forever sorting... wonder if they will do some on line films for us?

^^I know how you feel. I love this model, it has that wow factor that I think the Town Hall was lacking, but the stickers...

With that piece count I feel this will be a 200 USD price. Sad, because I was hoping the Town Hall would be a one done as far as the price increase was concerned.

i do love this model but i can't help feeling that the actual cinema room is a little pathetic. I think it would have made more sense for this not to be a corner model as it would have had more indoor space. i love the star tiles/stickers on the pavement outside though

i like it but i think we will have tol get 2 sets just to have enough people to watch a film or 2 screens or something because 6 seats is not very good and it also lacks furniture, becuase there is not enough basically. And if it has stickers that willl disappoint me a lot

I like it very much but the seat count is lousy and defeats the point of the building's purpose. I think a custom drop in height and spread in width could allow more space and custom seating.

I think the corner building deflates it a bit though, since all that space that would normally be bricks is just a sidewalk made up of 20 pieces or so.

Like others have said, the upper floor is disappointing. No door, wall, or curtains to keep the light and noise out? This is clearly a bad choice for a corner building. Mixing upper case and lower case letters on the sign is awful. I am going to have to modify this set heavily, unfortunately, or maybe just pass on it altogether.

The red baseplate is awesome! only appeared in 1 other set way back in 1978 (231 - Hospital).

Other than that, I am very disappointed with the inside. I was not expecting a full 100 seat theatre but it seems that there is nothing on the 2nd floor. You would think that with the lack of a 3rd floor TLG would have added a lot more detail to the 2nd floor. However; the outside is fantastic!

I had really high hopes for this set but I find myself rather disappointed, especially by the unwelcome sight of stickers.

This set should not have been a corner modular. They left themselves with too little space to design a proper cinema with proper posters that could have been made out of plates instead of stickers.

It's an ok set. It doesn't have the same wow factor that the Green Grocer, Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade and Pet Shop. The exterior of Cafe Corner is also great. The Town Hall set does have its bright spots such as, the front facade, elevator and clock, even though it is a somewhat disappointing set. The only reason I passed on it was because of the price.

The cinema also looks ok. It's not great but as I said it lacks the wow factor of earlier modular buildings. The theatre is small and somewhat disappointing with only 6 seats. I'm not a big fan of stickers so that's not a good feature for me either with this set. However, I do like the stars on the sidewalk outside of the theatre. The lobby/concession area and front doors look good too.

Speaking as someone quite familiar with Cinema Movie Magic and the like, I believe six seats is a bit lackluster, but then you have to take into consideration that all Six Mini-Figures can actually sit to watch the film.

The presence of stickers is a bit baffling, unless, it is a cost cutting measure so that the set won't be as pricy. Printing individual pieces for a singular purpose like a Cinema would more than likely drive the cost of this set up more.

If I can afford it when it hits I'm definitely going to try to get it, I have long wanted all the Modular style buildings and have sadly been unable to afford a single one at this point yet, mostly due to such a tiny budget of late for high end collectibles. I aim to possess this set though because I know it's going to make a splash with my father who worked as a Projectionist for years.

The first time I saw this set I really thought it had the 'wow' factor. But once you get into some of the detail there are a few disappointments - the lack of seating; the terrible car (the grey pole as a bumper doesn't work); the mixture of upper and lower cases in the sign; the windows allowing loads of natural light into the room with the screen... Aesthetically I think it's a beautiful building. It's just not great at being a cinema.

Hmm, the Orthanc tower pic got pulled. Interesting...

Back on topic, the cinema looks great! I could see this selling for the same amount as town hall, due to the piece count, but a lot of the the parts are teeny-tiny ones, so I could also see it going for the regular modular to UCS R2-D2 price point.

As others have said, the exterior is stunning. Possibly my favourite facade yet. I actually like the mix of upper and lower case letters on the sign, it's quite stylish. And the roof and pavement (are those stickered stars? I think because there's so many it would make sense to be a print) are great too. Overall just an excellently designed building.

Interior is a big let down though. Not even a tiled floor in the lobby? How will they watch the film when there are no covers for the windows? Though with only that many seats they're not going to make much money anyway. I think if the floor downstairs were tiled it could have been very nice, but the cinema room is just a complete disaster.

I think the beautiful exterior makes up for the interior, but still somewhat disappointed. And if all the decorations are in fact stickers, that would be a further disappointment.

Could Lego have added $100 to the cost and added another floor with more than 6 seats, bricks with printed movie posters, etc? Sure. But within reason of a marketable product, I see nothing to complain about with this beautiful set. I am excited! The movie posters are a wonderful extra, as far as I'm concerned. I would be very surprised if this were more than $199. My best guess is $179.99 USD. If it ends up being $149.99, it'll just be a very pleasant surprise.

According to the box it contains 2196 pieces which is about the same as the Grand Emporium and slightly less than Fire Brigade. Based on that the price should be $149 but I could see it being $179 in keeping with the Haunted House.

Despite the stickers I will still buy this set. It does look very nice from the outside and that's the area that I see most of the time anyway. I don't really play with my modular houses, I just arrange the figures to set a scene. I can do the same with a cinema no problem. I think it will look very nice lined up with my other modulars.

Lovely! It looks like the movie posters are "The Brick Separator" (Horror), "The Mystery of the Monorail" (Action), and "Forever Sorting" (Romance).

Also, it's likely that the stars on the sidewalk will be printed, since they do not put stickers on floors, simply because they would scrape off with play.

And it has 6 seats because it's obviously intended as a red-carpet private-screening theater for A-list premiers! =D

Whether this set turns out to use stickers or printed tiles or a mixture, I am slightly disappointed. I prefer the 'pure' look of the earlier modulars (and the Creator line in general) where it's all about building with Lego bricks. The printed clock face on the Town Hall was the thin end of the wedge...

Guys. Obviously, the Cinema is equipped with the latest smart window technology. Allowing them to change from clear to opaque with the flip of a switch!

I love this Modular's look. I think both the exterior and interior are really nice. Plenty of room inside to add a tile floor, a light brick, and some more seats!

@smackfu - I agree on the corner model point, but the car is just an unnecessary (in my opinion) add-on. I would much rather have seen more furniture and seating inside for the same price, or perhaps £10 knocked off the cost.

The more I look at the model actually, the more I tend to agree with others, the inside is perhaps a little too sparsely furnished. I like having some space inside to avoid everything looking like a bit of a mess, but there could be at least 12 seats quite easily, there is plenty of room to add another row at the front and back. Never mind, the seats do not look to be made up of particularly rare pieces as far as I can see so it should not be too difficult.

The thing to bear in mind with these Creator/Exclusive products is that the interior of a building has always a very low priority. With some exceptions, most of the modulars are pretty sparse inside and don't exactly scream value, whereas the architecture itself is what sells the product.

But, to put things in a different light, I would rather pay that little bit more just for a proper furnished interior. I'm guessing the reason some people are disappointed is because the screen 'room' itself is so open and compact, but it's important to remember that this isn't a multiplex theatre. We're so used to larger screens and spaces that it's easy to forget how just how small early theatres where, and while they may not have been as small as within this product, I do love the fact that it speaks a community theme.

Generally speaking however, I think the building itself would have benefited greatly from not being a corner design, as a lot of space just appears to be wasted. They could have at least added a door to the entrance of the screening room

I'll look forward to modding this however, so all is not lost! The car is completely unnecessary, so again, it should be easy enough to design and integrate your own.

I now find the plain faced happy faces on the minifigures disturbing now that I'm accustomed to seeing my minifigs with more detailed expressions.

Another nice modular to add to my Lego main street. I'm going to have to get extra copies of them stickers.

As an overall package I'm disappointed. Now that I've seen the interior shots it gripes me that budget could have been better used investing in some varied colour tiles to furnish the ground floor instead of that awful car. The red baseplate does not excited me anymore than grey. The sparseness of the floors and uninspiring wall colour choices make it look very sad. It could of been so much more. Definitely not the best modular in the series so far for me.

People, its not a mixing of upper and lower cases, its just a font that has a stylised "a" character. Such fonts do exist..... If you are still crying about it, then it will be a handful of bricks to put uppercase "A"s in there anyway.

And the people who are complaining about windows on the building - thats part of the Lego style - so people can look inside the buildings etc - do you also complain that the Star Wars ships aren't airtight and that most of the two-storey Lego buildings don't have anyway for the minifigures to climb to the second storey? Come on!

Exterior and ground floor look pretty good, but I'm disappointed with the first floor - at the very least they could have fitted an extra row of seats, but even that would have left it with woefully small capacity.

Having said that, I wasn't taken with the Town Hall at first and it's grown on me. Hopefully this will too.

My dad hunted down pretty much every modular building and bought them.
I imagine he'll get this too. The detail is fantastic right down to the stars on the sidewalk and what appear to be posters in the windows.
Really interested to see what the title is of the movie that's showing.
EDIT: It seems it's "Three Clicks and a Snap" or something along those lines.

Antsbull, you obviously don't own any of the other modulars. The windows are there for purpose of pretending the little Lego people live in these buildings, not for us real people to look through to see the stuff on the inside. Anyone that owns these will know you can't see squat through those windows unless you use a flashlight or have added interior lights. The point is that movie theaters are supposed to be dark and quiet from outside noise so you can see and hear the movie. This Lego movie theater would totally suck for watching movies, assuming you could get a seat!

I've looked over the images a few times now and must say the more I look at them the more I want it! The interior might look a bit bland at first glance but if you look closely there seems to be lots of little details and touches particularly around the refreshments bar downstairs.
Although only 6 seats doesn't seem much, if tlg would've put more in some people would complain that building them would be repetitive!
I think the interior suffers a bit because of the corner design although the exterior looks gorgeous with the entrance and palace sign on the corner. Not too bothered about stickers as I the hardest thing will be applying them perfectly straight with no air bubbles or creases.

i love the palace cinema for its chinese theatre style. i will pick up 2 copies. however, there are certain aspects of this set that i am quite unhappy about:

1. this set is tanned like the grand emporium. i would like to see a different rare colour, or even a new colour. i think each of the modular buildings so far is a unique colour.

2. the car is too flat. i suppose that's the intention, cos the fire engine from the fire brigade is also flat. lol!

3. oh my gawd! stickers!! the stars, posters, signage and screen are all stickers! this is unacceptable!!

I am some what surprised by this set in both good and bad ways. I love the theme of a cinema and in my opinion I think it was right to choose a corner building. The minifigures are great except the one from the pet shop though. The reddish base plate is awesome too! And that there isn't anything on the side walk on the outside, that way you can see the movie posters. Considering the Palace Cinema is about 2100 peices I estimate 150$.

There also some down sides to this lego... I don't see a need for the limo or car and its flat anyway. The color bugs me to considering the Grand Empourium was the same color. They could have gone with a different color more rare or even black would have been nice. And the flooring layout isn't very good either, theres only 6 seats, but the bottom is nice. What bugs me the most is the stickers, while looking through the pictures I noticed alot of them. They could have used printed bricks.

Over all this will be a buy for me because it will nice to add to all my other 7 modulars.
P.S. what do you think the next modular building will be next year 2014? I'd like to see more houses or maybe even a restaurant or hospital?

Though I find the outside of the model rather impressive and detailed, the inside is rather disappointing on how few seats are included, no sealing door to the screen and the windows too. Unless this set is cheaper than the town all, I can't see myself buying this modular.

I think the price may come in around $149 USD. The Fire Brigade has almost 200 more pieces...and the Town Hall has more then 600 more pieces, so the price might yet be reasonable. It also does not look like to many exotic pieces either, most look fairly common. Either way a rather impressive model.

I have to agree with the Green Brick Giant, the sidewalk that's used to make this a corner building could have been put to much better use on the interior. Also, it seems like they give vehicles in the modular sets in lieu of a third floor (FB has the fire engine and only two floors, this has limo and only two floors). I think most folks would gladly take a third floor over another fairly average vehicle.

This set is not terrible but I feel like it's a little... unfinished. Of course, it is Lego and modifications are always possible but for the price that will be charged ($150 is my guess based off piece count) the interior just seems like the most plain since CC.

I'll buy it cos I think the modulars are the best thing Lego has going but I genuinely feel there has not been a GREAT modular since GG. Here's to hoping for 2014!

Gonna need 2 of these and make a proper non-cornered variant. The projectionist needs his own little space separate from the screening area and more floorspace will accommodate this and more seats. A longer floor-plan will allow the screen to be at one end and more rows of seats. 4 should be sufficient. Speaking of the seats, each successive row could be raised by a height of one plate to allow the rearmost seats to have a clear view over the front row.

The windows have to go. Well, they are actually quite nice as decorative features on the exterior, but they must be curtained or otherwise blacked out/blanked off inside. That's trivial. Better yet, a small office space with the windows separate from the main room could be possible. Capitalizing the "A" isn't going to be an issue.

That horizontally-oriented door on the roof has to go, just like with the Fire Brigade.

Stickers do not concern me in the least. I always clean parts on which stickers are to be applied with alcohol and I have had very little issues with stickers lifting.

After seeing the interiors I have to say this looks like a £90 set, just begging to be modified. A second set would be used to add a refreshment room on the ground floor and an extra 12 seats in the cinema area upstairs on the first floor with a few extra parts.

Or use three more cinema sets to make the cinema into an Imax multiplex. :)

if that is really a new modular building, I would be ok with it. But I would really prefer to see some "modern architecture" buildings in the series rather than another reference to the "good old times" of the 1930s and 40s...

Well, a lot of modern architecture doesn't have nearly the detail intricacies as older stuff does (generally speaking). And it seems pretty clear that Lego is very much interested in showing highly-detailed facades on these buildings. I doubt glass-walled offices would sell as much.

The El Capitan and Pacific theaters in Hollywood, The Chinese Theater Locale, all have windows from the second floor up. These theaters had the auditoriums in the back sections and offices above and around them. If this Palace Cinema is in homage to the great movie houses of Hollywood, it does a great job. I look forward to it and as so many posts have mentioned; moc it to fit your desires!

@Konstantin: I hope you're trolling. If you need parts that don't come in a particular set, the way to get them is to BUY them, not steal them. I imagine there's hardly an AFOL in the world whose conclusion when getting minifig heads they don't like is "oh, well, I guess that means I have to steal some replacements".

The reason for the expressionless smiley faces is for two reasons: classic appeal (after all, traditionally, the plain smile was the ONLY minifigure expression) and consistency with the previous modular buildings. The only modular building to break from this trend was the Market Street, which stood out in other ways as well (for instance, being a LEGO Factory set rather than having generic LEGO branding like the other pre-2013 modular buildings, and being designed so the floors could be rotated any direction). Frankly, I've never had a problem with it. I'd probably swap out the heads if I wanted to use the modular buildings in a LEGO City layout, but that would probably be far from the only modification I'd make.
