    The third annual Brickset user survey has been running for a week now and already there has been some 1300 responses, so thank you to everyone that's taken the time to respond.

    If you haven't yet, there's still time: you have until Thursday 31st January to let me know what you think of the site and what needs improving.

The search box and how it is able to help me search by certain categories as I type into it.

Hate:

The Older Articles link at the very bottom of the page only exists for the front page, once I click on it, it shows me articles going back 15 days, but there is no link at the bottom of the page saying Older Articles in order to go back even further in article history. -That irks me because WordPress based sites allow you to keep going back as far as you like.

Apart from that, top job Huw!!!!11

you need to add preliminary pictures to the sets, that way we dont have to search other places

No reputable LEGO fan site will post confidential preliminary images: it's not in our interest or LEGO's. You'll have to continue to hunt for them at less scrupulous sites, I'm afraid.

Could there come a feature to easy go to the next/previous set detail page? Like an arrow that appears when you move your mouse to the side of the screen.

I think The Hobbit should not be a subtheme of The Lord of the Rings. Same author, same world, but they are still two entirely different books/series. This would make it a whole lot easier to look at just Lord of the Rings sets, like Lego Shop@Home has them.
Not too relevant or important, just a pet peeve of mine, most likely.

Apart from that, I really don't have any complaints at all. Keep up the amazing work! :)

^They should call it Lego Middle Earth, and just have two subthemes. The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings could then be under the same thing.

I already completed the survey, but a suggestion came to me later and I want to add it here, if I may.

I think it would be nice if commenting was left open indefinitely for news articles, so that users can still discuss them for a long time after they have been published. I say this because I don't venture much into the forums and don't know if there are parallel discussions going on there.

Glad to see the survey's return. Many thanks to Huw for his work and for taking our opinions into consideration. I look forward to the future of Brickset and the possibility of new features.

On a separate note, what ever happened to the Minifigure Galleries? Those were fairly popular and I recall a period of a few months when we got continual updates. I guess that stopped since the last updates were from CM series 7 and the first wave of LoTR.

Very good work Huw and a continuous positive attitude deserves recognition.

We could only suggest 1 improvement and my choice was voluntary donations. I know considering how much time I spend on the site I would happily donate. However My second choice would have been a "Positive thumbing" system where users can give a "I like this" Thumbs Up to a review or post. Users can then search (through various filters) for the most thumbed article/post of their choice and presumably its likely to be the best one of its kind because its been 'thumbed' the most. No "I dislike" / Thumbs down though please - lets keep this a positive place to be.

^^ The main reason we close commenting down once an article has expired is that before we did so, we found that a lot of childish would revisit old articles and post a load of rubbish knowing that we were unlikely to read and moderate them.

Also, you'd probably find yourself taking to yourself most of the time...

^ I am way behind on the minifig galleries: series 8-9 Team GB, Hobbit, Alien Conquest, Chima, and so on. I intend to do them some time, but it takes time to set the 'minfig studio' up, and ages to photograph, post-process and prepare them for the gallery. So, bear with...

@King J, I am increasingly inclined to agree with you. I suspect it will get changed before long, although I notice BrickLink calls their category 'Hobbit and Lord of the Rings' http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=S&catID=789.

@King J: I've created a new theme for Hobbit sets.

I've also attempted to subcategorise the four 2013 LOTR sets, http://www.brickset.com/browse/years/?year=2013&Theme=Lord of the Rings. My memory of the movies is slightly rusty so if they are not quite right, LMK.

I've already done the survey, but something that I would like to add is a way to see the retail value associated with each set. In MY SETS, I'm given the retail value for X number of the sets I own. Can we get an individual breakdown of that? If we already can, is there anyone who can tell me how to do that?
