Four more stores to open in the USA

  • Four more stores to open in the USA

Posted by Huw, 22 Feb 2013 06:50. Filed under Shopping (USA).

The LEGO retail store expansion shows no sign of slowing down this year. Four new stores for the USA have just been announced:

    Danbury Fair, Danbury, CT
    West County, Des Peres, MO
North Star Mall, San Antonio, TX
    Fashion Place, Murray, UT

I'm told that the latter will be the first in Utah.

Thanks to Xarquar for the news.

Wow! They are expanding quickly. Now they just need to open one in ME

Posted by epyon396 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 07:20

I have my fingers crossed for a Pittsburgh store. It would be fantastic to be able to drive 15 minutes instead of 4 hours to Philly.

Posted by Irene in United States, 22 Feb 2013 07:56

The Danbury Fair store will be the first in Connecticut.

That is because there is no factory store at the Enfield, CT offices/factory of Lego.

Up until now the closest stores were in Massachusets (Naitic and Burlington), with a store "over the Hudson River" in West Nyack, New York. All of these stores are about 2 hours away.

Danbury Fair is about an hour+, right on the way to the new store at the Westchester, NY Lego Discovery center.

My cup runeth over. So, maybe I'll be able to visit more often, pick up Lego points, and collect those "club" monthly builds.

Posted by Margot in United States, 22 Feb 2013 08:14

Yay for Connecticut! Definitely overdue!

Posted by Andhe in United Kingdom, 22 Feb 2013 08:37

They really are taking over the world...

Posted by jditoro3 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 08:44

Ya, I keep hoping for one in Eastern VA. Otherwise it's a 3-3.5h drive to any of the closest three stores.

Posted by Kalhiki in United States, 22 Feb 2013 08:44

Finally! I store in the St. Louis area. That's just around an hour away from where I live.

Posted by lego613master in United States, 22 Feb 2013 08:46

When is Fargo, ND coming?!?! :(

Posted by Oligarchy in Canada, 22 Feb 2013 08:47

open in Canada!

Posted by Frederick B. in Norway, 22 Feb 2013 08:49

Please, please open a store in Norway.........

Posted by Paul Boratko in United States, 22 Feb 2013 08:56

I cannot believe that a Pittsburgh area store still does not exist... Especially after 2 highly successful Kidsfest events there in 2011 and 2012...

Posted by tmgm528 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 08:58

/\ A Pittsburgh store would be nice especially for trips to visit my Uncle and Aunt.
I do wish there was one closer to me in Ohio. There is one around one and a half hours away but it would be nice to be able to drive 20 minutes and get to one.

Posted by hewhocaves in United States, 22 Feb 2013 09:14

I've got to add my cries for a Pittsburgh store to the growing cacophony. Unless LEGO wants to put one in my hometown of Morgantown WV! But I'll gladly take Pittsburgh over the 4+ hour drive to Columbus OH.

Posted by Ausone in Canada, 22 Feb 2013 09:18

They should open one in Buffalo or Niagara Falls for Canadians. Will save about 30% just buying at regular price in the US....sigh

Posted by kfb11 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 09:19

Danbury is an improvement over driving to one of the FOUR stores in the Boston area. The Hatford area would be an ideal location since it is mid-way between Boston and New York.

Posted by legonet.jimdo in Italy, 22 Feb 2013 09:20

Open in italy!

Posted by Namanbricks in United States, 22 Feb 2013 09:26

Yay another one is missouri

Posted by jeremy1973 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 09:30

Buffalo would be great!!! I have to drive 2 hrs to Rochester, NY.

Posted by Gustoffr2d2 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 09:35

Finally I will get to enjoy a Lego store Grand Opening and the monthly build fun. Thanks for the St. Louis store!!

Posted by jedie in United States, 22 Feb 2013 09:40

UTAH!!! So excited to go to a grand opening. Still a 4 hour drive, but I'll take it.

Posted by The Green Brick Giant in United States, 22 Feb 2013 09:41

They need more stores in different areas. All four MA stores are 20 minutes outside Boston.

I never knew there was one near Rochester NY. They should have stuck it in Henrietta, I would have applied there.

Posted by legomaniac in United States, 22 Feb 2013 10:04

Aww none in Louisiana still. One day :)

Posted by kingbrick in Switzerland, 22 Feb 2013 10:20

Open in Switzerland!

Posted by sarlacc98 in United Kingdom, 22 Feb 2013 10:23

YES FINALLY ONE IN UTAH :D

Posted by doubledbrick in United States, 22 Feb 2013 10:33

Are there any dates posted out there yet I would like to know when the one in Texas opens

Posted by jasor in United States, 22 Feb 2013 10:45

Bah. KC MO and DALTX are still the closest to me. I would take one even in Tulsa... oh well.

Posted by mozrall in United States, 22 Feb 2013 10:50

Buffalo?? You do realize that there are already 3 stores within an hour of that city (2 in Toronto, 1 in Rochester)

Posted by emilewski in United States, 22 Feb 2013 10:53

Danbury, CT store opens May 3rd.

Posted by ericjohn in United States, 22 Feb 2013 10:53

I'm going to whine and moan for a Pittsburgh store too. My closest is a 4+ (one way) trip to Washington DC. Pittsburgh is only an hour and a half. The Olympics gave Pittsburgh consideration, but LEGO is a no go. Really?

There are so few posts here right now, and three are calling for a Pittsburgh store. That's got to mean something, eh?

Posted by calmkiller in United States, 22 Feb 2013 10:55

I would like to see one open in Pittsburgh as well. The closest one to me is in Tyson's corner, and I usually never go to DC for anything. I got to Pittsburgh at least 4 times a year even though its 3 hours away. Harrisonburg VA would be nice as well....

Posted by phonciplebone in United States, 22 Feb 2013 10:57

YAY for Connecticut. BOO for being so far away from Hartford. I need one closer so I can get a job there.

Posted by legohead511 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 11:10

Finally, a store in Utah! One I can actually reach!

Posted by Lordmoral in Puerto Rico, 22 Feb 2013 11:22

One in Puerto Rico please.

Posted by tmgm528 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 11:27

@Eric John
If it takes an hour and a half to pittsurgh you could make a 3 and half hour trip to Beachwood Ohio from where you are. It wouldn't save much time but a half hour is a half hour.

Posted by twoninerken in United States, 22 Feb 2013 11:43

Finally in Utah!!! No longer do I have to wait for visits to California to visit a lego store!

Posted by Jasper Parnebrick in Canada, 22 Feb 2013 12:03

Open one in Moose Factory please!

Posted by orwellian in United States, 22 Feb 2013 12:04

I'm going to be something like the 7th person in this thread asking for a Lego store in Pittsburgh! I'm tired of driving the whole way to Columbus and so are my friends in northern WV!

Posted by that guy from that show in United States, 22 Feb 2013 12:08

Sigh, still no store in Omaha or Des Moines. I suppose I sould be thankful though, it seems like awhile since a Lego store has opened in the United states.

Posted by Zander in United Kingdom, 22 Feb 2013 12:16

@lewa99 regarding "they just need to open one in ME"

Indeed. I'm sure they would sell lots of LotR and Hobbit sets in Middle Earth.

Posted by vamproe in United States, 22 Feb 2013 12:20

Fashion place in Utah ! ! ! ! !
15 minute drive........

a smell a grand opening trip in my future !

Posted by lewa99 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 12:25

@Zander By ME I meant the initials for the state of "Maine"

Posted by MoonKnight in United States, 22 Feb 2013 12:29

A LEGO store in Utah???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for this moment my entire life.

Posted by ApolloVI in United States, 22 Feb 2013 12:33

If Utah is getting one, it can't be long until Idaho gets one. Boise needs a Lego store! 6 hours to Utah is still way too long of a drive.

Posted by TBOC in United States, 22 Feb 2013 12:39

There''s going to be one in Saint Louis - it was in the paper a while ago, should be open by May. I reported this to the news months ago, why wasn't it there?

Posted by xboxtravis7992 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 12:46

I let out a nerd squeal when I saw the Murray Utah location. And only a 30 minute drive from my home town to!

Posted by meiguizi in United States, 22 Feb 2013 12:48

I'd be all for a store in Pittsburgh. As long as it isn't in the South Hills, because I doubt my wallet would hold up very long.

Posted by The Green Brick Giant in United States, 22 Feb 2013 13:16

Boise is in the middle of nowhere, and not a well know city that people will visit loads. Salt Lake City is famous, it's a travel city, people will drive near it going to and from places in CO and CA and has 10 times the amount of people as Boise.

So I wouldn't hold your breath.

Posted by mumsie45 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 13:24

ya a store at west co.! st louis finally gets lego store!

Posted by stevotherad in United States, 22 Feb 2013 13:40

I hear ya legomaniac! I thought surely the build a vampire event in the French Quarter was a sure sign that they were considering one for LA.

Posted by lippidp in United States, 22 Feb 2013 13:52

I wish they'd open one closer to my house so I don't have to drive 10 minutes to the one in Pleasanton.

Posted by TBOC in United States, 22 Feb 2013 13:57

Oh dang it, I'm sorry. Didn't see it up there. Either way, I'm glad Missouri finally got one... in at least 30 minutes of my house, too!

Posted by TH3_L3G0_G3N1U5 in Canada, 22 Feb 2013 14:31

We need one in the middle of Canada, everything else is too far away! Wahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by ben9996 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 15:07

The Danbury store is still an hour away for me. It's a start, however. I just went to the Natick store yesterday and that's two hours away from my house.

Posted by epyon396 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 15:15

9 out of 53 comments talking about a Pittsburgh store.
ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION, LEGO? :P

Posted by LegoPandaStudios in United States, 22 Feb 2013 15:28

YES, YES, YES! FINALLY, A STORE IN CT!

Posted by Soundczar in United States, 22 Feb 2013 15:44

I live in the greatest place on earth, north of Boston, only 15 minutes from TWO different Lego stores! It is the best.

Posted by Starik20X7 in Australia, 22 Feb 2013 16:00

Open one in AUSTRALIA. We don't have a single one in the entire country!

Posted by Brendan in United States, 22 Feb 2013 17:07

Northern West Virginian here who is tired of only seeing Lego stores when my work sends me to NY, Baltimore, DC or Cleveland. For the love of all that is plastic, put one in PITTSBURGH!! And that is number 10!

Posted by zeldafanatic15 in United States, 22 Feb 2013 17:14

The St. Louis store was announced a couple months back, it kind of slipped through. Glad to hear about the other stores. Does anyone know when they usually announce what dates the store has it's grand opening? My hometown is St. Louis(Moved to DC about 5 months ago) and I had already planned on visiting in May, I just would like to schedule it so I'm in St. Louis for the grand opening, as I've never been to one and I always hoped St. Louis would get a Lego store.

Posted by Jason LEGO in Canada, 22 Feb 2013 17:28

Still waiting for one to open in Vegas so I have something to do while my wife looks at shoes.

Posted by DarthLuke824 in United Kingdom, 22 Feb 2013 17:28

Grr! Lucky USA. I really wish there was one in Leicester UK. Just a 15min drive away from me!! My closest is Sheffield which is 1 hour away! Well you never know...

Posted by NeilJam in United States, 22 Feb 2013 17:43

Yeah, the Pittsburgh area really needs a Lego store.

Posted by f-man in United States, 22 Feb 2013 18:00

I wouldn't want to bring religion into this, but God has finally answered my fervent prayers for a store in Utah.

Posted by Kulturkampf in United States, 22 Feb 2013 18:01

YES! I live just 30 minutes from Fashion Place!!!!! This just made my life.

Posted by TBOC in United States, 22 Feb 2013 18:51

zeldafanatic15 - It opens in May, said the newspaper article about it. Not sure when in May, though.

Lego store in Utah? There goes my paycheck. All I can say is it is about time. This was the best news I've had in weeks!

....Wow another 4 more, and yet Australia can't have one go figure!

Posted by SuperDKong in United States, 23 Feb 2013 10:05

More LEGO stores opening is always a good thing.

And everyone wants one just 20 min. away rather than 2+ hours away.... :P

Well, keep buying LEGO. The more money LEGO makes, the more they can expand. :)

Posted by clanure in United States, 23 Feb 2013 10:12

My wife is already predicting our financial demise now that there is one coming to Utah. Only 30 minutes away. Finally I don't have to pay shipping for S@H stuff, nor wait for TRU to get something so I can have the privilege of paying extra for it. CMF's in abundance and at retail prices! I haven't been this excited in quite some time.

Posted by Wrestarena in United States, 23 Feb 2013 11:39

Finally...a LEGO store in CT!!!!

Posted by Sputnix in United States, 23 Feb 2013 13:08

@Lewa99 Lego Maine is so ready for a store, the Maine mall practically has a space all ready for them. LEGO seriously consider a store in Portland, it has all the precursors to a LEGO store - Apple, William Sonoma, Macy's, LUSH, Coach, etc... are already there.

A little off topic, but I'm forming a LUG in southern Maine if any members are interested I have a facebook page set up:

https://www.facebook.com/MaineLUG

muchos ciudades con plantas de lego no tienen tiendas de lego.
es muy triste

Posted by The Reviewer in United States, 24 Feb 2013 00:23

California has the most Lego stores of them all, yet NOT one of them is near me.

Posted by Albus in Australia, 24 Feb 2013 01:18

Four more...? FOUR more...? First in Utah?!?! What about the first in Australia? :(

Is there even one in the Southern Hemisphere?

Haha, oh well, maybe eventually one will come. Aside from postage, I don't really mind ordering online for exclusives and all. A store is just a convenience thing, and I am usually smart about how I order online when I do, getting the promotions and deals, and getting as much as I can for the postage amount. I wouldn't mind a Pick-A-Brick wall - It'd probably be a great way to splurge money though :)

Congratulations to everyone in those states however! So lucky... :D

Posted by wallybreit in United States, 24 Feb 2013 03:58

Finally one in Utah! I have been pestering TLC for a long time to get one here. I used to have to wait until my trips to California (a 12-hour drive) to visit one. I hope TLC keeps up this expansion around the world so that eventually every LEGO fan will have a store within a reasonable distance.

Posted by LindsayJoy in United States, 24 Feb 2013 14:57

And I only have a 3 minute drive with no exaggeration, yes! I seem to be the luckiest one here. Easy free parking quick stroll and there. Its not as huge as the one in Downtown Disney which I can get to in 3.5 hours to really overdose, but its still fantastic!

Posted by borracho79 in Panama, 24 Feb 2013 15:29

There is a LEGO store opening in Panama City, Panama soon!.. It will be located at Multiplaza Pacific Mall.

If this was the world of percy jackson, I wonder if LEGO have finally gotten a hydra...;-)

Personally though, I think LEGO should expand outside the very much tapped market that is america and open in other places lke Brazil and Asia.

Posted by The Green Brick Giant in United States, 25 Feb 2013 10:04

The USA is tapped for a reason, more LEGO is sold there than probably all LEGO sales in the rest of the world, minus Europe, combined.

Posted by Sethro3 in United States, 25 Feb 2013 11:40

Someone mentioned Des Moines, IA at 250,000. I think they look at more than just population. Kansas City just got one recently and they have professional sports teams and a much larger population with KS/MO/suburbs combined than Des Moines.

I've been clamoring for one in Omaha, NE which has over 400,000 people, plus it is within a few hours of Des Moines, and southeastern SD, plus Lincoln, NE at another 250,000.

I don't mind the drive down to KC, but since we rarely get down there I don't spend too much time in that store.

Posted by renatta in United States, 25 Feb 2013 18:57

Wow, count me in with those excited for the Utah store!! Half an hour away, easy. Thanks for the news, I will be watching for more details on this one. The only LEGO store I've ever been to before was at Disneyland, CA, too far away to go to any events.

Posted by Bycougars in United States, 26 Feb 2013 21:31

It's about time they get a store in Utah I have been waiting years to hear something like this. Finally one that is a twelve min drive instead of a twelve hour drive(California). I will be there opening day for sure!
