Free Friends set in Girl Talk magazine

It's not all bad news with regards polybag promotions with publications today: Rich at BrickFanatics is reporting that the current issue of Girl Talk magazine comes wihe a free Friends polybag, 30106, Ice Cream Stand.

I think the magazine costs £2.99 so it's not a bad deal, even if you don't have young girls in your family to give the magazine to.

I like the polybag (particularly the ice cream cone piece and lolly), so I will probably be picking one or two up.

This is going to be embarrassing. "It's not for my daughter, it's for me"

I bought 3 earlier in Tesco, and felt so much more relaxed than when buying The Sun in WhSmiths.

Of course in the states, 30106 is at Targets - though I didn't see any at mine today. Lots of 30251s though.

I wouldn't be caught dead walking out of the store with this.

^^ Do you have Target DPCIs for either? It's a bit of a long shot, since I suspect they won't show up in the online stock tracker anyway, but I thought I'd ask.

Nice, read this minutes before the wife asked me if there was anything I needed from Sainsburys, well actually...

I now have two copies (even though I already have the polys).

Do you guys actually collect the Friends theme?

Great timing, just after the announcement of the end of The Sun newspapers promotional association with Lego. I think it's far more appropriate for lego to run promotions with publications such as this, that are aimed at children. I hope we'll see lots of promotions like this in future.

I have never seen so many pink & purple magazines/comics when looking for this mag in WHS today! I found 2 copies and used the 20% off voucher. £4.16 for 2 copies.

It would be less embarassing buying this with The Sun.....
But I may end up buying a couple in some newsagent where they don't know me. :)
I'll never be able to go there again......

Let's hope this is a good sign for polybag promotions in the UK. It makes much more sense to be giving away lego with a kids magazine, this may be a shift in TLGs marketing strategy, and hopefully will mean polybags continue to be available through these means in the future.

It is a lot more expensive for AFOL to buy them this way......
But if you know when the magazine is due to have them I guess they could be reserved for you?

Posted by Venunder in United Kingdom, 07 Mar 2013 08:04

Ironically this type of trashy celeb gossip magazine is probably far more damaging to the psyche of young girls than any page 3 image in the Sun.

Has anyone in Ireland seen these with the Lego friends polybag? I saw it in a few shops with all the other free crap but no polybag. :(

Just picked this up for my daughter. She was more interested in the other junk that came with the mag than the Lego. It's now stored in my Lego room to build another day...

Thank goodness I have a six year old daughter!

Posted by pooohbear in United Kingdom, 07 Mar 2013 15:46

I bought four from Tescos, the guy said "wow I thought I had problems, just having two girls" I made no comment and headed for the door.

Ha, whenever I shop for Lego with my son he busts me and tells the cashier "these are all for my mom, she's addicted to Lego".

Is this going to be around all month? I might ask someone from the UK to get me some but I don't want to tell her to get it NOW!
