It appears that Lego is opening yet another LEGO Store in Western Canada.

This store will be opening in the Southgate Centre Mall In Edmonton Alberta.

I believe this will be the fifth LEGO store to open in Canada, the second for Alberta. The store is scheduled to open in Spring 2013.

Thank you Brickset member Multani for the great news.

I'm predicting another 50 or so replies moaning about the lack of stores in everyone's area...

There are currently four stores in Canada, with three more slated to open this year: Southgate Centre in Edmonton, Yorkdale Mall in Toronto, and, according to this post on EB, Guildford Mall in Surrey.

So, yeah, five minutes from my apartment. Also, I ride the bus to the Southgate transit centre to catch the train to the UofA every other day. Sometimes on the way home I have fifteen minutes to killOHGOD TAKE ALL MY MONEY NOW LEGO. DOUBLE VIP POINTS DAYS~~~

I fully expected an Edmonton LEGO store to turn up in our famous West Edmonton Mall. Southgate has done major renovations in the past few years and added some more exclusive/high-end stores, though. Really nice because SG is so much easier to park at and fun to walk at, and now I can not only take advantage of double VIP without worrying about free ship, but I can take my daughter to their store events!

Awesome news! Suck it Calgary! ;)

Guildford Mall? YES! I live like 15 minutes away from there taking the bus!

With idle hope wishing for the country to be 'The Netherlands' once upon a time... instead of US, UK or wel anywhere else in the world!?!

Happy shopping in Canada!

Uh, you do realize Calgary's had a LEGO store for several years right... first in Canada in fact. :)

Now all you Edmonton people can stop crowding our store :P

@tomcatt - I hit it up everytime we've been down to Lethbridge to visit the in-laws. It was the only thing Calgary had that was better than in Edmonton. Now I don't have to detour. ;)

Kinda surprising in two ways. Calgary got the LEGO store first. Surprising because WEM (West Edmonton Mall) often gets many stores not otherwise in Western Canada OR Canada at all first. Two, surprising because Southgate is getting the LEGO store instead. Which is great. WEM parking is a nightmare. I avoid the big mall at all costs.

Man, we can't even make hockey jokes, both teams suck so hard right now.
