Hmm maybe I'll take use of this deal...

If you are able to call a US Lego Store they might be willing to take your order for SNS (Shop and Ship) if the product is not in the store. Then you get free shipping (to a price point) and then you should get your VIP points.

I'd love to take advantage of this deal... however my supply of cash is low. I would have probably got my dad to order 2 Death Stars but TRU is 'out of stock'! I really wish I lived in the US sometimes... for Lego reasons only!

I noticed that today. I was going to report it, but you beat me to it. 3:52 AM, sheesh, you guys are fast!
I'll consider picking up a little, but SW prices can be a insane...

Is this promotion only for online purchases? Or is the buy 1 get 2nd 50% also in stores?

Posted by cjg in United States, 25 Apr 2010 23:46

krysto2002: Actually, it probably wasn't that early. We are both in the US and you have to keep in mind that Huw's in the UK.

The promotion is for online and in stores. We figured a SWLego sale might be forthcoming as the shelves at our TRU had been stocked to the brim earlier in the week. While I can't speak for online, I can tell you that there were no limits on the number of sets you could buy at our store, which is usually how it's done. As for online, TRU almost always removes the LEGO DIRECT items before a big sale. Some of these items then show back up as available the following Sunday. That being said, the AT-OT DROPSHIP and TANTIVE IV currently show as IN STOCK online. Awesome.

As always, you need to match up like prices to maximize the deal and you have to take in account which sets have been excessively marked up by TRU. We were lucky in that our TRU was flush with stock. I believe I saw every current SW set including the older Dooku's sailor, the AT-TE, the Republic Gunship, and the Hyena bomber. I was torn but finally ended up buying 2 Endor and 2 Han/Tauntaun sets. The Han/Tauntaun set was at MSRP and the Endor was just $5 more than MSRP.

As far as matching up sets by price, the following is what I found:

Republic Venator / Republic Gunship approx $130 USD
Endor / Home 1 / AT-TE $105/$109/$90 USD
X-Wing / Dooku's Sailor / Anakin's Y Wing / Attack Shuttle / Arc Fighter $60/$61/$62/$63 USD
AAT / Tie Defender $52/$53 USD
Swamp Speeder / Separtist Shuttle / Vader Tie $30/31 USD
Tauntaun / Freeco / TriDroid / Alliance Tank Droid $25/$27 USD
Hyena Bomber $21 USD
Battlepacks $12/$13 USD

It's a great way to save money on Lego sets they've ripped us up for in the past; (they charged $6.99 for a set that was supposed to be sold at $3.49) I would buy the Republic Dropship and AT-OT, but I'm trying to snag all the Prince of Persia sets before they become too popular.

P.S. The Venator Cruiser, Tantive IV and Dropship/ AT-OT are all back in stock, SNAG E'M
