Lucky Brits!! When does the U.S. get them?

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 07 May 2010 16:32

I got the robot, the ninja and the diver today... but the diver came without his head! :( I mean how often does that happen?

Posted by R4-G9 in Canada, 07 May 2010 16:39

i called my local toys r us, and they had the minifigs in there system, but no shiping dates yet.

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 07 May 2010 16:42

@Zwing I remember reading on another thread that you can't get the replacement parts, Lego just send you a free keyring instead. I will be heading down to Argos tomorrow morning.

Posted by kurttkrueger in United Kingdom, 07 May 2010 16:52

I've managed to reserve 5 at my local Argos (not allowed to buy more this month, she who must be obeyed has commanded it!), so will attempt to get them tomorrow.

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 07 May 2010 16:53

I reserved some for collection tomorrow, say what you want about Argos but that reserve & collect system is very handy. To anyone thinking of going tomorrow I'd definitely check online first to see if they have them in stock at your local branch, and if they do then reserve 'em quick!

Posted by Jayko543 in United States, 07 May 2010 16:53

Based off of Argos, the 'figs will be around $3 in the US?

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 07 May 2010 16:59

@LegoCoastGuard - Thanks for mentioning that, I was thinking I will find another random lego head to replace it and/or buy another diver

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 07 May 2010 17:05

@Zwing, there do seem to be some quality issues with these, you are not the only person to find bits missing.

It's unfortunate that they do have a bit of cheap-and-nasty feel to them, don't they. The plastic is definitely not as good, or the surface finish so perfect as regular figs. Let's just hope and prey LEGO don't start making all their figs in China.

Posted by Greyface in United States, 07 May 2010 17:16

Does anyone have a barcode cheat sheet for the US?

Posted by mokey2345 in United Kingdom, 07 May 2010 17:16

ive just reserved 10 minifigures at argos and hoping i dont have any missing pieces

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 07 May 2010 17:19

@Huw - I compared the ninja's headgear with the same piece in 7195 and they did feel different to me. Now I know I am not alone with missing parts.
Ps: sorry about that link for the space shuttle yesterday. I did not know about it. if anyone wants to see pics, there are some improved one at eurobricks - with zoom aswell :)

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 07 May 2010 17:45

@ZWING: Did you check the ninja's bag for the diver's head? Perhaps they had a disagreement in the carton before your purchase...

Posted by Republic Commando Sev in United States, 07 May 2010 17:51

@Jayko543: They will be $1.99 here in the US.
That's too bad their cheaper in quality than normal figs...
Sev

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 07 May 2010 17:55

@yellowcastle - I checked all three bags I got today and they were all empty but I kept them in case I need to take the diver back to my local argos. The only thing that could of happened is if when I opened the bag in the car the head fell out the bag, so I will check the car.

I found a video review on all the minifigs: http://www.youtube.com/user/Toyshansolo#p/a/u/0/ciNDlprYkK8
I really can't wait till they get out...

@cjg: What's Wrong with you? Didn't you Read ANY other posts? June 1st.

Posted by AZFIREWOLF in United States, 07 May 2010 23:24

I think that we are all going to be very interested when it comes to the full availability of the minifigures. No one has told us how many are going to be made of each minifigure. I bet you that there is a limited supply and that if you get a chance to buy them you better take your chance or it is going to be gone. Causing you to pay crazy amounts for them on the secondary market.

Posted by Buckbrick in Singapore, 08 May 2010 00:05

I just got a complete set over the last 2 days. We here in singapore are one of the fortunate few countries to get these first. Man, most shops here sold out in 2 days. So I advise the folks in UK to run, don't walk.

Firstly, these are marvellous minifigs. What some of you have mentioned about quality is right. Don't get me wrong though. The printing are spot on and the colors vibrant. The only difference is the plastic used. It is lighter than the ABS used in regular minifigs. Some other plastics might have been used. I have come to conclude that China made minifigs (identified by the number moulded into the hands) are here to stay. From an economy perspective, how else could we have gotten them at this
price? This is not a bad thing anyway. The quality is faultless, considering all factors.

Posted by voyanui8768 in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 01:42

Its a shame about the quality of the figs, my cavemans gots different colloured hands to the rest of his body;). I went into a whsmiths on monday and asked if they had the figs but they said that they did have them but they were in the store room and they werent allowed to sell them.

Posted by one wag in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 02:08

Argos Fareham west street do have them (well they did yesterday afternoon) limiting customers to 10 figs at a time.

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 02:40

I just reserved mine! So I'll pick them up later

@Zwing, my spaceman had a small chip on the side of his helmet so I went to the LEGO customer service, replacement parts and then selected 'faulty/broken part recieved with new set'. LEGO e-mailed me back and said they would send a replacement part (when they come back into stock on 18/05/10)

Posted by brickzone in Ireland, 08 May 2010 03:17

Argos in Ireland have them in at least some stores. Boxes on the counter at the cash desk, or in the display racks by the queuing area. They are listed on Argos.ie so you can check if they are in stock.

Smyths Toys are apparently due to have them soon also (I asked at the customer service in one of their stores).

Posted by mokey2345 in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 04:49

i just got 3 super wrestlers,2 cowboys,2 tribal man,spaceman,cheerleader and a crach test dummy

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 05:25

@BrickBob09 - thanks, I will let everyone know when I get the head :)

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 06:32

You can work out which minifigure you get using the following barcodes (if you don't have the scanner then just look at the different spacing between bars). Also, a preview of all 16 series 2 collectable minifigures - the Mime looks great!

http://bricks.inof.de/docs/minifig-barcodes/minifig-barcodes-a.pdf

Posted by primetime in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 06:33

@kurttkrueger.

Same here. I have just sent my wife to get me five more (I got ten last week) as Argos have suddenly got them in stock. I reckon that's my lot for this month too but I'm trying to get a robot before my sons do.

The minifigures remind me of the Panini World Cup stickers of old, only I refuse to pay for Panini stickers nowadays (50p a pack, look like they're printed on an old inkjet, complete rip-off, etc).

I managed to sell my crash test dummy swaps on eBay so there's always that option.

Posted by EdwinJackson in Norway, 08 May 2010 06:44

Any Norwegians here?... if so, have you seen them in the stores?

Posted by timbutnice in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 07:42

Just back from Argos in Kingston, picked up the clown (yay!) and crash test dummy (not so yay).

The clown is very easy to 'feel' the knobbly head is a giveaway

The barcodes on the left of the back of the bags are marginally different, anyone know if there is a picture of all the barcodes yet?

cheers,

timbutnice

oops ...must learn to read earlier posts, thanks avacadoturban

Posted by Hguin in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 07:48

I got mine today thanks for the info.

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 08:10

I just got another three from Argos, 2 skaters and a ninja. I can't believe I got a double in 3 packs!

Just wondering how many swords should the ninja have? Mine came with two but the image only shows one (also my space man from WHSmiths came with two visors)

Posted by cyberdude2403 in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 08:13

Thanks for the info on here that Argos had then .. reserved 20 online last night .. however as it turns out my local Argos (Northwich) had them all sat out on the shop floor (as they do some Argos items) .. so reserving them might not work (e.g. they could in theory sell your reserved stock I guess)

Anyway out of the 20 I had 10 duplicates .. I knew this my checking printing out http://bricks.inof.de/docs/minifig-barcodes/minifig-barcodes-a.pdf .. and then cut down each barcode and then double checking them ..

So back to Argos with the 10 duplicates and explained the store manager what I was trying to do .. I had with me the 6 barcodes I needed .. he even helped me to find the missing ones I didn't have using the barcodes I had taken down .. (only took 2 - 3 minutes to find the missing 6 figures) .. and then I got a refund on the 4 figures I didn't need .. ( thus allowing somebody else to buy the neat minifigures)

Anyway Northwich Argos on the Retail Park must have had around 20 - 30 mini-figures left out .. remember then are on the shop floor .. near the tills

Just waiting till series 2 now

Posted by Brickmatic in United States, 08 May 2010 09:59

I am finding the reports of poor quality control (cheap plastic, cheap printing, mismatched colors, missing parts, broken parts) rather disconcerting. What happened to "Only the Best is Good Enough"? When I first heard about the collectible minifigs I wasn't that interested and then as the pictures and details came through my interest has grown to the point where I want multiple complete sets of these. However, this quality thing is causing me to rethink that.

Posted by nameloc in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 11:02

id almost given up getting any, then by complete fluke found argos in corby has some, managed, after a frantic dash to get there, to pick up the only 10 they had left!!!!!
amazingly no duplicates!!!!!

skater- new hair excellent
zombie- whats not to love
nurse-new hair excellent
cheerleader-excellent (if only red, claire bennett)
robin hood-ummm....verdict out
diver-ok
ninja-why oh why oh why (did they run out of ideas?)
caveman- great new hair/beard combo (what a monobrow on head)
crash test-no idea what he useful for
cowboy-nothing new, but my favorite figure

now i want more....i dont even care bout duplicates.

Posted by darthdc in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 11:38

got 3 more from Argos (3 in Birmingham city centre) - all different. Magician, Robot and Nurse. Great that the packets are on display - most figs can be identified by one accessory (if the base and leaflet don't get in the way)

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 12:05

Well, back from town, and here are the quantities of boxes:

Argos - 1 box Toys R Us - 1 box

... I only got the Demolition Dummy from Argos, and the Robot from Toys R Us, but at a local independent toy seller they had 4 boxes! Got me 3 Zombies, and will be back to get 2 Magicians and maybe more!

Posted by mokey2345 in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 12:05

realy want to get the skater

Posted by boy007 in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 13:50

Who's a lucky boy then.....

... I have two Argos within 2 miles of me and managed to clear out both 39 from one and 34 from the other, they both only had 1 box each so sorry to all those in Yeovil.... Oh and I got both the original display boxes as well and both in great condition!! Time to start checking the bar codes!! Will keep ya posted...

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 13:56

@boy007 Lucky, more like greedy. I'm glad I don't live in Yeovil if people like you are snatching everything left, right, and centre. That's just not cricket :-(

Posted by boy007 in United Kingdom, 08 May 2010 14:44

@ avacadourban. I wouldnt call it greed in fact i will be collecting a full set with one box and selling the rest with what they are, on ebay with a low bid, i am really not out to make money I am here to collect so I apologise if i came across in an inconsiderate way. Oh and they would only let me have the box if it was empty! :-)

Posted by absolutelylez in France, 08 May 2010 15:03

To all Brickset users! While the quality of these figures is lower, they're still pretty darn good! The printing is quite excellent and well, honestly, I've been playing with Lego since age 4 and I had to really examine the thing properly to notice any differences between this from China and the Danish original.

And seriously, buying these Lego figures in massive lots is very disappointing. Lego is a toy for all, especially for children, and hoarding the fun from who it is aimed at is most self-interested. They're only Lego people!!! Do not buy them in massive lots.

Posted by Greyface in United States, 08 May 2010 17:08

I won't buy in mass they'll have tons of these in stock eventually. Who cares who they're aimed at, LEGO is a hobby for many users and I don't care if some five year old gets a forestman instead of the ninja they wanted 'cause people bought in mass and got tons of ninjas. Tough luck, and there are no laws saying you can't buy in mass.

Posted by madaboutlego in Ireland, 08 May 2010 17:11

Great day for Ireland!
Down in my local Argos in the Republic of Ireland they had a box of Minifigs!!
Only got 15 packs as €2.79 here and no clown or cheerleader so will try and sneak back tomorrow for a few more.

Posted by rtjepsen in United States, 08 May 2010 18:16

If your figure is missing it's head you can go the the lego website under "customer service" and order a new one for free. I've had to do that a couple of times, when Lego has made a mistake.

Has anyone got any more recent info of release in Australia - any more clarity on dates or shops - thanks

Posted by lust2luv in United Kingdom, 09 May 2010 13:12

Tried my local Toys R Us again today and they had 2 new boxes in - so if you're in the UK it might be worth trying TRU again. Managed to get my son every missing one except for the wrestler, and stocked up on zombies for myself.

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 09 May 2010 13:39

Does anyone have an unopened ninja for swapping? LEGO may claim those ninjas are useless, but they seem to be experts in hiding themselves from me! Get in touch if you can help me out, cheers :-)

Following on from atkinsar does anyone have a unopened nurse they can swap/sell? (Cash in post)?

@Crt2: Oh. I didn't know it was June 1st. I probably read it before but just forgot. I wish we didn't have to wait so long. :(

Posted by mokey2345 in United Kingdom, 09 May 2010 14:40

does anyone have a skater or zombie spares

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 10 May 2010 00:12

For anybody looking for sealed packets going spare, I have almost a complete boxful (55 packs) put aside to be picked up later today. As I only want 16 packs (one set) for myself, I expect to have a lot of packets (possibly a whole set or two) remaining sealed and untouched going spare. The best part... I am not interested in profiting from my Lego hobby, so anybody happy to cover the £1.99 per packet (and postage) is welcome to have them... if nobody wants them, i will be returning them all to the store so that others may enjoy them. UK only (sorry).

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 10 May 2010 11:55

Just a quick post to say: Regarding my above post, here is a lesson for us all... I did not get a complete set from 55 packs. I had 10 of one, and 8 of another two, which suggests either the box was a combination of other boxes, OR the store had already received returns from another store (thus altering the mix). So I do still have a lot of sealed spares, but I am also still missing some myself (The Forestman and Skateboarder). I'll post a list of what I have in my profile later.

Posted by absolutelylez in France, 10 May 2010 18:10

I'd love to swap some of my figures - does anyknow where or how we can do this? I have an unwanted ninja, diver, and emoskaterkid...

Posted by avacadoturban in United Kingdom, 11 May 2010 08:36

Finally ... got the complete set (with a few extras of my favourite figures, like the Zombie + Caveman), and one of the display boxes! Roll on Series 2!!!

Posted by cjg in United States, 11 May 2010 11:06

Someone needs to set up a website where you can trade your collectible minifigs. Maybe bricklink could do it. Even maybe brickset?

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 11 May 2010 16:00

I would like to swap figures, too... (this is where i wish i knew how to make websites)... if anybody has a Skateboarder and a Forestman (sealed packets preferably) for swap, send me a message with what you don't have yet and we can trade.

Posted by Pulpdiction in United Kingdom, 11 May 2010 17:08

I've bought 15 and got 5 duplicates, that's pretty high, I would have expected 2 or 3 but 5, there must be some that are more limited than others.

Posted by cjg in United States, 11 May 2010 20:21

My Dad knows how to design websites. I don't think he'd be willing to do it for this though.

Posted by Zwing in United Kingdom, 12 May 2010 11:27

I found the divers head today so it was not lego's fault after all. I feel great now I have a completed diver :)

Posted by dfish04i in United Kingdom, 12 May 2010 12:34

Since sunday I have 12 of the 16, But the number rises to 17 with duplicates. I have two Roin Hood/ Forest Guys, two Magicians, two Nurses, three Indians. I don't care but I did think i'd have all 16 cos I printed off the guide and took it into toys-r-us where two members of staff helped me get those i was missing, Bit of a bummer about the duplicates but hopefully next week I will get the cowboy, diver, clown and zombie. :)

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 12 May 2010 14:18

@dfish04i... I have an unopened diver (and an open one, if you wanted to be sure), do you fancy trading your spare robin hood for my diver?

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 12 May 2010 15:18

@dfish04i...and I would swap you a sealed cowboy or clown for a nurse, my barcode identification has been 100% so far :-). Contact me through Brickset if you're up for it.

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 12 May 2010 19:16

Re: barcodes. Same here, 100%, I find them to be quite distinctive for each fig. Here's hoping they do series 2 in the same way.

Posted by mattaus1994 in United Kingdom, 13 May 2010 13:13

I have 11 out of the 16, that number is now 20 with duplicates ¬¬ haah all already opened, i have 4 spare forestmen, 3 caveman, a cheerleader and a magicain for sale or trade, sale price is £2. contact me on matthewhrichards@hotmail.com for more info.

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 13 May 2010 15:52

@matthaus1994: email sent, would like to swap 2 figs.

Posted by Pulpdiction in United Kingdom, 15 May 2010 04:20

I completed the set yesterday at John Lewis using the bar code printout, I went through the box sequentially and found that gnerally the minifigs were in groups of 2 or 3 within the boxes, so you were likely to find 3 zombies together and 3 cavemen, etc, not sure if this was just luck or how they are arranged, so I guess I'm suggesting you are selective and don't just grab a handful if you are not using the bar codes foe help.

Of course it could have just been chance.
