There's an article on Marketing Magazine's website about LEGO's marketing campaign for the minifigs which it says are launched this week. You can read the whole article by following the link but the last sentence will be most interesting: "Lego will also be offering a free Minifigure to readers of The Beano next month". I wonder if they'll be attached to the front of the comic or whether you'll need to send off for it? How much does the Beano cost these days? There's reference to this on the Beano website as well, and it says it'll be in/on the 5th June issue.

Is Beano in the UK only? I can't figure that out from the site.
EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. It is only in the UK. :(

beano is £1.35 but will probably be £2.50 with the fig

As a longtime collector and avid fan of the Beano it usually costs about €2.00, or £1.45. Yes, it is a UK based comic. It has been going for over 70 Years and is Britain's second oldest comic (Second to the Dandy, which started a year earlier by the same people). I myself will be anticipating this a great amount.

well this willl certainly make me go and buy a few Beano comics in June! I haven't bought one for years...is it character specific? Do we get Dennis the Meance? In fact how cool would it be to have the full Bash Street Kids gang from the same comic morphed into Lego minifigs....now i'm dreaming..

If this is just a collectible minifg from the normal range, not sure I'll bother, unless of course it's cheap. An exclusive fig would be real nice but somehow I doubt it.

I do like the reading the odd Beano magazine, so i'll probably pick this up.

I think they will be on the front of the comic, last time they gave away mini-figs in the beano (which were the nesquick rabbit) they were on the front so are all other free giths, however they could be in the competition thing Gimme Gimme I think it's called

Hmm i used to get the beano maybe ill get it again if the mini fig is on the front
(i can get it mini figs from WHS, so no Point in waiting a week for it to come)

not much point in getting it unless you dont live near argos, whsmith or toysrus or if you get the beano! it will be £2.25 or £2.25

Would be cool if it was a fig unique to beano, but I agree, its likely to be one from series 1. Still good news if you're struggling to find any and only want the odd one to sit at your desk. I wonder whether it will be the same fig on every copy, or totally random (as i'm looking for a Forestman and Skateboarder).

I wonder if the fig won't be with the Beano, but in Beano Max magazine. Beano max is more of a proper magazine and it normally has a few gifts per issue (they are all in a see-through bag round the magazine). I think it costs about £2.99 normally. Another reason why I thought that the fig would be in Beano Max is that on this months issues front cover is a big picture of Lego Harry Potter game (I'm guessing they review it).
