Free collectable minifigure with the Beano

  • Free collectable minifigure with the Beano

Posted by bluemoose, 02 Jun 2010 12:38. Filed under Shopping (UK).

As we reported a couple of weeks ago, the makers of the 'Beano' comic in the UK were planning to include a free minifig with a future issue of the comic... well, today, that future has arrived :-)

This week's 'Beano' includes a sealed minifigure pack, so it's not easy to get a specific figure. It also includes a collectable minifigure-based sticker sheet & poster.

Based on previous experience with Lego being included as promotional gifts with comic books in the UK, these are likely to fly off the shelves very quickly, so, if you want one, don't hang around!

Thanks to 'William' and 'Rob' for sending in the news.

That is cool and a little bit weird at the same time... Beano and lego collectable minifigs? I guess It's ok.

Is a Beano more or less expensive than buying a Minifigure on its own?

Posted by WilliamH in United Kingdom, 02 Jun 2010 14:34

Beano is £2.25, minifig is £1.99 (if you can still find any!)

Look at it as 26p for the stickers and the poster

In the middle of the comic is a pullout that has Lego facts, puzzles and general promotional material about the figures. It also says you get 5 free minifigs if you subscribe to the Beano. In my day the Beano only used to cost 28p to buy!

i might get it for the free stickers,is it at tesco?

Beano's a kind of mix between a kid's comic and a kid's magazine, plus at the end of the year they put out a thick book with a collection of comics & other stuff in it -- makes a good holiday present.

so its just a random figure right? not a uk exclusive?

Posted by The Guy With The Bricks in United States, 03 Jun 2010 00:19

I find it very funny that every time a UK exclusive is offered, people from the US complain. And then when a US exclusive is offered, the UK complains. It seems that Lego "always" releases "everything" to the wrong country!

I've a question. How is Beano? is it just for the kids or can older readers enjoy it as well?

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, 03 Jun 2010 05:47

i'll get it now!

@knuclear200x i have not read it for a year or two but the beano that i no was good for about 5-13?

Picked up a Beano at lunchtime. GBP2.25 for a Series 1 Collectible Minifig (mine was a diver which I really like), Series 1 Collectible Minifig themed sticker set and an A2 size poster of the Series 1 Collectible Minifigs. A bargain!

It's quite hard to look at the barcode to find out which fig you are getting but I still managed it - I sorted through them until I found the skater! The lego mini mag isn't that good but the poster is cool.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 03 Jun 2010 15:14

Well done, voyanui8768. I grabbed the last 2 copies at my Tesco this evening. One was a nurse and I haven't opened the other one yet.

Posted by absolutelylez in United Kingdom, 05 Jun 2010 19:30

The poster that comes with it is quite large and excellent! I must admit, I quite enjoyed the stickers too :)

Posted by Superlegos1 in United Kingdom, 06 Jun 2010 06:28

Any ideas where i can still find it? I've looked up sainsbury's, CO-OP and a few smaller news agents but i'm going into town so i guess i'll try tescos.
