Thanks for the info yellowcastle, I did check that out earlier this morning. I'm a VIP member, but right now I'm broke so this probably isn't my best luck. :-(

I'm really hoping the new wave of Star Wars sets will be up before the 20th..

Is this worldwide?

Posted by Sky-guardian in United States, 07 Jun 2010 11:34

Very cool! i just might buy a set.

@LegoCoastGuard - the "Double VIP Points Banner" does continue to appear online even when I changed my country to Austria, UK, etc.

Posted by cjg in United States, 07 Jun 2010 11:39

@LegoCoastGuard: I checked. It is in the UK also. I checked the main countries, and it is also in Canada. It's not in Australia though. The other countries it IS in are: Spain, Portugal, Luxembourg, Italy, France, Germany, Denmark, Austria, and Belgium.

yup ordered 5 of those collector minifigures :D

That's good! I got a VIP card a few days ago. And this will help because I'm ordering some parts for a set I'm making my friend. Thank you Lego!

Looks like it might be time to finally bite the bullet and grab that Imperial Flagship, before it's discontinued.

Why now!!! No!!! I'm going to Legoland in July!!! All the summer sets aren't even released yet anyway! I don't like ordering off the Canadian site because prices are nuts and shipping is the price of another whole set! I'm not ordering through the US site again... I have enough sets sitting across the border at my aunt's house!!!

What a great offer this would have been in July!!!

VIP doesn't work in the park stores; the Legoland parks aren't owned/operated by Lego anymore (they are owned by Merlin Entertainment group)

Posted by brickmatt in United States, 07 Jun 2010 14:11

bluemoose - why did lego sell out/transfer to Merlin? Do they have any say in the management of Legoland?

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 07 Jun 2010 15:25

Lego sold the parks to Merlin in 2005 to raise money to get themselves out of the severe financial problems they were in at the time. Lego retain some say over how Merlin use the 'Lego' name, but have little/no say in how the parks run on a day-to-day basis.

Thanks for all the info, bluemoose. It's too bad there's a 5 per customer limit on the minifigures - I'd order a few! Are they being sold yet in any other stores besides TRU?

Posted by vynsane in United States, 07 Jun 2010 16:08

Looks like you can instantly get yourself a $10 credit towards the end of this promotion by buying the Shuttle Adventure set, since it's slated to be available June 19 in the States! Too bad you can't use the credit on the purchase with which you accrue it, only good for the next purchase... Still, not too shabby!

Hmmm.....Tempting. But I Don't Like Paying Shipping.

Posted by Skut in Australia, 07 Jun 2010 21:06

Note to any Lego staff reading this: you need to make the VIP Program available to Australia & NZ too. Sites like Brickset, as well as the Lego Shop At Home Site itself, make it easy for Australian Lego buyers to see what lousy value we get compared to Europe and the US. A loyalty program like VIP might go some way to redressing the balance.

you also get 5 bonus points when you order a toystory product

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 08 Jun 2010 03:46

"you also get 5 bonus points when you order a toystory product"

Isn't 5 bonus points basically worth 25p in the UK ? Way to go, LEGO ! Either that, or you can get up to a 20% discount on Amazon and pay no shipping.....

Joking apart, LEGO are going the right way with promotions etc., but I'd still love them to match the likes of Amazon and Play with respect to free shipping. I would definitely use shop@home more if they did. As it is, anything but the big exclusives tend to get bought from elsewhere

Posted by aquafreak125 in United Kingdom, 08 Jun 2010 09:42

meh, i dont really order from shop@home because of the shipping, so not that much great news unfortunately for me.
Got to agree with "DrDaveWatford" though, amazon and play do eye popping offers, it would be great if shop@home would as well, it would gain a lot of more customers.

if you go to a lego store and they don't have the product, you can order in-store and get free shipping from lego.com..

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 08 Jun 2010 21:53

Question: If you sign up to the VIP program ONLINE, (which is done by agreeing to the program just prior to the checkout of a purchase), do you get credited with the points for that purchase when you register the number they email? Or does that first purchase not count.

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 09 Jun 2010 02:01

@legomatt, you get the points for that first purchase. If you sign up online when purchasing there is no need to register the number as well, it does it for you.

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 09 Jun 2010 16:25

Thanks atkinsar, that's good to hear.

This was a great deal -- ordered my Grand Emporium Monday, and received it yesterday. Couldn't believe how quickly it shipped!
