    2853835: White Boba Fett Figure
    More details...

Earlier this year, at Toy Fair New York, Lego gave out a small number of white Boba Fett figures to invited guests at their stand. They also announced that a larger distribution (around 20,000 world-wide) would happen later in the year, as part of the 30th anniversary of the release of 'Empire Strikes Back', episode 5 in the Star Wars saga.

There is still no definitive news on when or how the release will happen, but a few of the poly-bagged figures are starting to trickle out into the real world, so the release date must be getting close. Now we have a set number, I've added it to the database.

For those that don't know, Boba Fett is a very popular character from the Star Wars films; during the original character development, it was planned that his body armour would be white, as can be seen in various concept drawings, but they finally settled on a more colourful design. This 'prototype' white Boba Fett has been the inspiration for figures released by other toy manufactures (e.g. Hasbro) in recent years.

I've read that they are inserted in only the new Slave 1's. And that you get one every time you buy a Slave 1. That's what I read somewhere at Eurobricks.

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, Jul 7 2010 7:45AM:

''They will NOT show up randomly inserted in 2010 sets''

''The white Fetts are intended for fans, so the distribution plan will not follow previous limited figures such as C-3PO or Darth Vader, or even the Stormtrooper. LEGO is figuring things out as they go along.''

Posted by legobob in United States, Jul 7 2010 7:47AM:

hmm well it looks cool maybe it will be another "get one free with a purchase of $75 or more"

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, Jul 7 2010 7:51AM:

The new Slave 1 had a very brief release through Amazon.France a couple of months ago; Huw managed to grab one & posted about it here - http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=650
No mention of a white Boba Fett fig ... there's lots of wild speculation that gets posted on the Internet, but I wouldn't recommend trusting any of it ;-)

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, Jul 7 2010 8:00AM:

I'm certainly hoping that these will be given away with shop@home purchases, similar to what was done with the recent spaceman magnet.

Posted by Jarod98 in United States, Jul 7 2010 8:02AM:

@I like Lego - If you're correct, then that seals the deal; I'm getting the '8079-1: Slave I'!

@bluemoose - The reason Huw didn't get one was probably because Lego just recently decided to give fans a white Boba Fett.

@DrDaveWatford - I bet they'll allow that; although I'm not 100% sure.

I don't exactly understand why Lego would give us two Boba Fetts in one set (even if they have a different design). If I were Lego, I would do what legobob said "get one free with a purchase of $75 or more".

Lets see what happens.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, Jul 7 2010 8:26AM:

Lego announced the plan to release 20,000 of them way back in March; Huw got his set in May.

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, Jul 7 2010 8:52AM:

In 3 years it'll be 30 years of Return of the Jedi, so what can we expect from that, a white Jabba? :-)

Just kidding, but I'm sure there will be a special SW promo with that, too.

Posted by Zacherano in United States, Jul 7 2010 9:03AM:

Maybe they will have some kind of deal where the first 20,000 people to purchase the Slave I worldwide will get the white Boba Fett. I think that is the best case scenario. I'm tired of trying to obtain figures randomly inserted into sets. The figures are so great for anyone to have, but I think they should only be given to the fans who care the most. That's why I like this method. :-)

Posted by KJM72 in United States, Jul 7 2010 9:44AM:

Maybe another TRU promo. Remember the chrome Stormtrooper from back in March? Spend $25 in LEGO Star Wars stuff, and they would toss one in the bag for you.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, Jul 7 2010 9:46AM:

The problem with inserting them exclusively in Slave 1 sets is that 'fans that care the most' is *not* the same as 'fans who have the most money'.

Posted by legobob in United States, Jul 7 2010 10:47AM:

@DrDaveWatford and Jarod I agree it will be like the mini V19 torrent

Posted by Orange Lemons in United States, Jul 7 2010 11:11AM:

@KJM72 I hope that's how it will work. Then it will be much easier to obtain and if you call in a few days before the release, you may be able to get to TRU that day and easily have one.

On another note, I saw one of these go for like $200 USD on eBay, I bet he's kicking himself now.

Posted by shieldsy in Ireland, Jul 7 2010 11:13AM:

I hope they are going to released in the new slave 1 set but I have a feeling they wont.:(

Posted by Jarod98 in United States, Jul 7 2010 11:18AM:

@legobob - I remember that; Lego also advertised saying something like "Add this set to your purchase for only $3.99".

Posted by Sky-guardian in United States, Jul 7 2010 12:31PM:

Not really into star wars, don't even care. why don't they give you a rare city mini fig?

Posted by weerwoefski in Belgium, Jul 7 2010 12:34PM:

It's strange that they would take back the classic mold with this exclusive fig instead of having the new one where the helmet and rocket pack are two separate parts. The version included in the new Slave I was finished quite a while before these polybags were first distributed. So they upgraded the fig at first, but downgraded again for a later set (Slave I has been in stores here for quite a while now)... Strange!

just noticed that there is a bar code on the back of the white boba fett, so these must be intended to be sold at some time. i want one of these very badly. will be buying the new slave 1 besides the fact. once the truthis out about how to get the new white boba fett, i will be trying my best to get one. not off ebay. i was able to get one of the vaders and troopers but missed out on the gold C3P0.
they made a gold C3P0
they made a solid gold C3P0 ( ever hear of anyone getting one of these)
Chrome Vader
Chrome storm Trooper
Bronze Boba Fett (wonder who got this)
White Boba Fett
Whats next a real fuzzy and furry ewok of chewbacca

Posted by grelb32 in United States, Jul 7 2010 12:59PM:

I've never really been interested in the SW 'exclusive figures', as they've always been just a fancy version of the regular figure. However, I might just have to get this one (if it's available to buy), as it's not just a fancy edition of a regular figure, but a piece of Lego SW history...

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, Jul 7 2010 1:08PM:

No white Boba in my Slave 1 unfortunately...

Posted by vynsane in United States, Jul 7 2010 2:23PM:

TRU in Hong Kong has them as a give-away with a $1,000(HK) purchase at their 'New Product pre-launch day':

Posted by I like Lego in Canada, Jul 7 2010 3:59PM:

Wait! I remember! I think they were given out free when you purchase some amount of Lego in Europe.

Posted by swlego@hf in United States, Jul 7 2010 5:16PM:

Their is no way it would come with the Slave I set.

Posted by legobob in United States, Jul 7 2010 5:17PM:

@Jarod98 wow who would do that other than collecters a very few I mean 3.99 what a rip off

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, Jul 7 2010 6:18PM:

Maybe like the space magnet offer thats happening right now but only if you buy the summer starwars sets

Posted by ShatteredGnome7675 in United States, Jul 7 2010 7:32PM:

I want to actually get one of these as I have missed every other exclusive SW figure so far. I hope they plan on a not-too-limited release, although 20,000 could go fast, so i hope i can get one.

Posted by yoni1993 in United Kingdom, Jul 7 2010 9:41PM:

i was told that they where give out in a store in spain when you buy a slave 1

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, Jul 7 2010 10:03PM:

I'll probably miss out on this like I did with the TRU Chrome Stormtrooper event.

Posted by lego star wars dude in United States, Jul 8 2010 12:30AM:

hope they sell them at toys r us

Posted by renesisx in United States, Jul 8 2010 1:09AM:

In Sweden they gave you one of these White Boba Fett with every purchase of Slave 1. They just put the polybag in the shopping bag with your purchase, they're not inside the box for Slave 1.

Posted by Skrytsson in Sweden, Jul 8 2010 7:25AM:

In Sweden these White Boba Fett have be given away for free in 100 chosen stores when you buy SW Lego for 300 SEK (appr 40 USD) or more. Each store has a quantity of 30-40 Bobas. This campaign started for a little more than a month ago and I think most stores don't have any left. I got seven of him.

Posted by superkalle10 in Sweden, Jul 8 2010 8:11AM:

That's kind of funny Skrytsson that your username reflects what you just did in your post. (Skryt = Brag in swedish). 7 bags from a dealer!

Posted by blazetrooper501 in United States, Jul 8 2010 9:42AM:

The white boba fett might be a tru promo like the chrome stormtrooper event.I also hears rumors that some might be given away at star wars celebration V this year.

The exclusive minifigures I have are
1.chrome stormtrooper
2.luke that came with the lego star wars the visual dictionary.

I hope i could get one if not I will go to ebay.

Posted by Skrytsson in Sweden, Jul 8 2010 10:24AM:

Yes, Superkalle10, that's right! :D How many do you have?

Posted by Orange Lemons in United States, Jul 8 2010 10:40AM:

I'm guessing this will be a TRU exclusive (a 'buy x amount worth of star wars LEGO and get a white Boba Fett') because of vynsane's previous post of that TRU pre-product launch day and how others without TRU are getting them from other dealers similar to TRU.

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, Jul 8 2010 10:59AM:

@above Hmm, maybe but I'm thinking more from LEGO.com than TRU?

Posted by superkalle10 in Sweden, Jul 8 2010 11:29AM:

@ Skrytsson - About the same :-)
There! Now I did it too, ha, ha...

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, Jul 8 2010 5:05PM:

either way its a must have for me :P though it would make things easier if its in TRU

Posted by Sirre in Sweden, Jul 8 2010 5:28PM:

@ Skrytsson - I got myself 7 Boba Fetts as well. I emptied their remaining stock of those figures. :D

Posted by Darren Coppinger in Ireland, Jul 8 2010 5:41PM:

I hope this promotion is also in Ireland

Posted by andy16806 in Norway, Jul 8 2010 6:31PM:

In Norway I got one from my local Toy shop (Ringo). I didn't have to do anything special to get it, but they know I'm an AFOL :)

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, Jul 8 2010 8:17PM:

btw for some reason you cant want or own either the white mandolian warrior or the spaceman magnet

Posted by c.lee.r in United States, Jul 8 2010 8:49PM:

hope these come out soon. and are easy to get.

Posted by legoisawesome in Canada, Jul 9 2010 12:00AM:

why do this set dosen't walk by it self?

Posted by Skrytsson in Sweden, Jul 9 2010 7:28AM:

Sirre - I took the last one on NK Sthlm, three of the seven last ones in Lekplaneten Kista and some more in a store in another town (the last ones there too). Superkalle, which store did you empty on White Bobas? :P

(And now I bragged again...)

Posted by grelb32 in United States, Jul 9 2010 12:18PM:

@Skrytsson: Did you have to purchase a certain amount of Legos to get the White Boba, or do you buy them like you do the impulse buy sets?

Posted by superkalle10 in Sweden, Jul 9 2010 12:33PM:

@grelb32 - You had to buy Lego for SEK 300 (approx 35 USD) to get one Boba. But it's like Skrytsson says, if you're a well known AFOL, you got a few extras, however not too many - the stores were aware that they were only given a very limited amount.

This whole white Boba thing exemplifies a very strange strategy from TLG. The know that these minifigures are highly sought after by fans. And instead of going out and declaring the release plan for the world, they small-start in Scandinavia, with the result that the prices sky-rocket on BrickLink. I don't think that's fair to all Lego SW fans around the world. Bad TLG, bad!

Posted by Be-Burger in Israel, Jul 9 2010 1:33PM:

I'd pay a lot to get one.

Posted by cheese654 in United Kingdom, Jul 9 2010 4:03PM:

Posted by Indy1 in United States, Jul 9 2010 4:51PM:

@Be-Burger - I would too.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, Jul 9 2010 6:23PM:

If you want to pay a lot of money for one, check out ebay, they'll be able to help you out ... ;-)

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, Jul 10 2010 7:15AM:

I'd pay £5 at most...

Posted by dotnetters in United States, Jul 11 2010 12:33AM:

Thats funny...good point there are plenty already on ebay averaging around $75 each.

Posted by xymox in United States, Jul 11 2010 2:18AM:

how in the states will we know anything about this ?

Posted by kazachfett in Netherlands, Jul 11 2010 3:22AM:

there's a big chance they will give them at legoworld zwolle in the Netherlands. like a few years ago when they would give you a mini tie fighter that special promo one.

Posted by balkris in United Kingdom, Jul 14 2010 8:20AM:

hmmmm, just bought £200 worth of the new lego in TRU Leeds, no mention of a white Boba... damn. looks like eBay for me :-(
