It hope they will be in the UK soon and I will not make the same mistake I made last time, I will snap up the ones I want ASAP!

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, 14 Jul 2010 15:45

Hmm, thats good, won't buy any this time around most likely. I will be Interested to see the reviews tho

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 14 Jul 2010 16:02

Hope they're not out in the UK whilst I'm away for 3 weeks!
Did anyone else notice that Argos started selling series 1 for £1.49 towards the end of the run?

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, 14 Jul 2010 16:05

Did they? Shame, I might have got one :(

Posted by BrickBob09 in United Kingdom, 14 Jul 2010 16:07

@atkinsar: That might have been due to their end of catologue sale. I hope somewhere else will sell them cheaper!

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 14 Jul 2010 16:08

Off to Legoland Windsor this weekend. Will keep an eye out!
Atkinsar - I did notice they went down to £1.49 - yet as usual as soon as Argos advertise a good deal they sell out quickly.

Posted by Jayko543 in United States, 14 Jul 2010 16:14

Yay, its this, or the 2H technic sets . . . Oh what to chose, oh what to chose!

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 14 Jul 2010 16:17

Oh Brother! Hmmmmmmm.......Harry Potter or CMs?............Harry. :P

Posted by JohnnyWashngo in United Kingdom, 14 Jul 2010 16:23

Oh yeah - can't wait to see these start appearing in the UK. I know a couple shops in my area with loads of series one figures left though so it may take a while :(

Posted by Orange Lemons in United States, 14 Jul 2010 16:49

I'm hoping these show up quicker in the U.S. than series 1, and by reading the last few comment from people in the U.S., it seems there will be less demand for these. The only one I want out of this series is the spartan, the phararoh, and maybe the explorer guy.

Posted by Shijima in Canada, 14 Jul 2010 16:55

@ Orange Lemons - The only ones you want, are only the ones that EVERYONE wants. (minus the explorer)

I know I want lots of the Pharaohs (take off the hat and sceptre for a regular Egyptian), lots of the Spartans. And at least two or more of the rest of them. (again, minus the explorer, will only get one just to keep the collection whole.)

Posted by Kobacca in United States, 14 Jul 2010 17:19

They are cheap plastic. Blah, great minifig designs gone to waste. But it is about time for series 2 to arrive.

Posted by just2good in United States, 14 Jul 2010 17:31

@ Shijima
Not really, as my top 5 (in order) are:
1. Surfer
2. Pop-Star
3. Life Guard
4. Explorer
5. Sombaro man

Posted by ellchr in Canada, 14 Jul 2010 17:51

It's crazy how much time the company must be taking just to make the new accesories for series 1 and 2, and the minifigures themselves, too

Posted by KJM72 in United States, 14 Jul 2010 17:52

I'm not as crazy about this series, to be honest.

Posted by EyeExist in Denmark, 14 Jul 2010 18:04

The karate minifig's trophy is very very cute. It's a detailed golden microfig...

Posted by Carnigee77 in United States, 14 Jul 2010 18:08

What month are these supposed to come out in the U.S.?

Posted by brickmatt in United States, 14 Jul 2010 18:09

I still haven't been able to get the last one I need for Series 1! I've been able to look through just one shipment at my Toys R Us, and haven't been able to find them anywhere else. I may have to resort to eBay if TRU and Target don't get them.

Posted by just2good in United States, 14 Jul 2010 18:15

@ EyeExist - Post pics please. :)

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 14 Jul 2010 18:40

Well wasn't the release in North America made a month after Europe's stock?! So I guess if Europe will be seeing them in the end of July or the start of August, then NA will see series 2 in Sept?! Those are each a guess... but even so, these minifig series have been moving fast.

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that hopefully Lego has bigger stocks of these 2nd group. Whether Europe or North America, they'll go like hotcakes.

Even when I was visiting my grandma in Regina I checked the local TRU for series 1. The lady checked the computer and said they'd been sold out and their last shipment was gone within two days. I think she said series 2 would arrive sometime in August....

Posted by legomaniac in United States, 14 Jul 2010 18:41

Definably want:
Karate figure
egypt man
and roman soldier
None of the others appeal to me, I wonder if LEGO stepped up the quality?

Posted by f-man in United States, 14 Jul 2010 18:48

LEGO is really bugging me with the fact that series 1 was out before it hit stores like Walmart or Target in the US which customer service said there would be. I will buy as many as possible from LEGO Shop when they get on there

Posted by Manco Fett in Australia, 14 Jul 2010 19:21

can't wait to build me a squad of spartans!

Posted by wildcherryp3psi in United States, 14 Jul 2010 19:54

I'm kinda scared to mention seeing minifigure series 2 anywhere when they come out, these things go like hotcakes!

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 14 Jul 2010 20:14

i want the complete set, plus a few extra spartans and mexicans.

Posted by The Shamrock in United States, 14 Jul 2010 20:18

Can't wait to try and find these before somebody with no life comes on by and buy's the whole freakin' tray!
/sarcasm

Posted by i like guitars in United States, 14 Jul 2010 20:33

these are gonna be hard to get, i was lucky to get the series one but i havent seen any in stores since.

Posted by dereksmom in United States, 14 Jul 2010 20:46

I want to get the pop star and the karate master.

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 14 Jul 2010 21:08

gave up on these collectable minifigures as lego gave me five crash dummies instead of them being different

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, 14 Jul 2010 21:24

@ The Shamrock - I fully agree.

If, by some miracle, I can get as lucky collecting these as I was with Series 1, I hope to acquire Spartan(s), Mime, Mariachi Player(s), Pharaoh, Vampire(s), Surfer, and Skier.

Posted by maximiliam in United States, 14 Jul 2010 21:44

Crash dummies are the most common of series 1.

Posted by Carnigee77 in United States, 14 Jul 2010 22:17

I have the whole series 1 (got them at Borders Books) And want most of series 2 except for maybe explorer and police guy.

Posted by rainstorm26 in United States, 15 Jul 2010 00:24

Anyone know if they are made exclusively in China?

Posted by Griff13 in United States, 15 Jul 2010 01:10

I got lucky with series 1, I ordered the five from Lego.shop and got two Crash Test Dummies, a Forest Man, Skateboard kid, and the Cowboy. I was bummed and gave up getting any more, then one day I walked into my Toys R Us and about passed a brick! There on a back shelf was two whole cases. Here I was with on barcode sheet trying to just look at the barcodes to make sure I got 16 different ones and hoping like heck no one would come in and try to buy the whole case while I was looking. It was next to imposable to look and see if I had different barcodes or not, but then a kid (life saver) in the store walked up to me and said "here is the barcode sheet from brickset.com you can have it if you help me find a Forest Man" so I did and I was able to complete my set plus a few extras and the kid got his Forest Man. Wonder if I will be that lucky with Series 2?

Posted by nexus15 in United States, 15 Jul 2010 01:27

Would people be kind enough to let me have one of each before they go after their second or third helping? ;)

Posted by Darthblaker74744 in United Kingdom, 15 Jul 2010 01:27

im goin to use the barcode method and it actually works, I put the barcodes on my ipod touch and match it to the one on the packet so that way I don't have to buy more minifigs than i need or waste money! lol

Posted by voyanuitoa in United Kingdom, 15 Jul 2010 02:33

I hope some collectors finally accept that they dont have too buy 4 boxes, as someone did at a store I went to, to get a complete collection. Hopefully the distribution of the second series will be random in each box.

Posted by kurttkrueger in United Kingdom, 15 Jul 2010 03:55

I'm a little more confident about getting the ones I want with Series 2.

I've just got hold of the new iPhone 4, and i-nigma actually works when scanning the barcodes, I assume because of the better quality camera.

Posted by mission_zed in United Kingdom, 15 Jul 2010 04:24

The UK supply of Series 1 was pretty good in the end, so hopefully things will be less crazy this time round. I'm going to try to restrict myself to the modern minifigs, and skip the Spartan, Pharoah, etc but I'll probably fail miserably and get the whole set.

good I really want these

Posted by minifigforlife in United Kingdom, 15 Jul 2010 08:46

I can't wait to get these. I really like the Karate one.

Posted by jinxjinx550 in United States, 15 Jul 2010 09:11

The explorer, aviator and witch figures kind of bore me, because they're so close to figures (and accessories) that already exist. The ones I'm thrilled by are the Mime, the Disco guy, the Spartan and the Pharaoh, plus basically all the accessories for the other figures. I'm really curious to see how the weightlifter's barbell is constructed, because if it's built of multiple bricks, they could be really useful new pieces.

Posted by Lego Minifig Man in Canada, 15 Jul 2010 09:31

The new series 2 figs are fine. But I have to admit, I kinda want the surfer, vampire, and the gladiator. But then again the mime and the little gold minifig thing the martial arts guy has would make cool additions to my collection. But I'm kinda doubtful I'll buy too many of them. I was really lucky last time and wanted 2 minifigs and got them when I bought only two packets! Woo!

Posted by didgeboy in United States, 15 Jul 2010 09:52

What would be great is to post the barcode "codes" for the figures so that those who want specific figures can get what they want ahead of the buy it all groups. Cheers.

Do you think we could set up a trading system for series 3 and further? I know that I really don't want a bunch of duplacits.

Posted by flpanthers1 in United States, 15 Jul 2010 15:32

I like Jayko's idea. I have some Series 1 extras I would love to trade for Series 2 and maybe 3 when they come out.

Posted by Agreenbrick in Sweden, 15 Jul 2010 15:53

Luckily people up here in the north of sweden arn't really up to date in lego news, so I managed to get every figure in series one, and will probably get every series 2 figure... Also, I think the toy store still has series one, considering the fact that the box was nearly full every time I went to buy one!

Posted by Tommyo3000 in United States, 15 Jul 2010 16:10

This looks even better than series 1 in my opinion. That spartan is my favorite!

Posted by blabla in Canada, 17 Jul 2010 01:12

From what I've heard, series One and Two are going to be the most limited series', as LEGO was testing out this new product's marketability. I've also heard reports that Series Three+ will NOT have the second identifying barcodes.

My guess is that these will start showing up in North America between mid-August and early September.

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 17 Jul 2010 01:35

To be honest, if they keep releasing new series' at such breakneck pace, i don't think many people will be able to keep up. In doing so, Lego could end up killing the goose that lays the golden egg. It would make much more sense for there to be one series that lasts the whole year (and thereby satisfy so many many more people, allowing time to collect, to swap, not to have to worry about shortage of stock as they maintain production until a certain date, which in turn would keep the hoarders/scalpers at bay etc). Than have such quick-fire seasonal bursts which wear everyone out, and ultimately would see sales drop off as people bow out of such a rapid expansion. Collections are only enjoyable when you feel you have the time to collect them, and the confidence that the next range isn't for some time yet. At the current rate of release (every few months), anyone collecting them all will end up needing a second home to store the ever-expanding range in, and a second mortgage to afford so many figs in one year (on top of the ever-inflating price of sets). They need to learn the lesson of series 1 & 2, and then slooooooww doooooowwwwwn.

Posted by Sand Raider in United States, 17 Jul 2010 13:56

I really only like the Spartan, pharoh, and surfer. I might find another one I like.

Posted by ensign_dave in United Kingdom, 17 Jul 2010 16:46

The two last minifigs will follow shortly.
Close-ups of anything?

Posted by R4-G9 in Canada, 17 Jul 2010 20:34

how long do you think it will take to become public?

Posted by lego8x8 in United States, 17 Jul 2010 22:27

Here are some of the problems I saw with Series 1.
a) Release time - Series 1 came at the end of the school year, probably the worst time for kids to trade stuff. They should have been released in the mid summer, so kids have a full collection (plus extras) when beginning school.
b) Limited availability at stores
c) Limited sellers (ToysRUS, Borders and a few others)
d) Underestimation of market audience.
e) Lack of response to consumer needs.
f) Price, ToysRUs starting charging $1.99 then went up to $2.49/pack. Borders was selling them at $2.99. Internet $6/pack. Ridiculous!
g) LEGO.com selling only 5 packs per customer? Give the customer what he/she wants.
h) Complete lack of communication between store managers and LEGO distribuitors. Nobody knew when the packs would be available, where, how many, how often, etc.
Series 2 should be advertised in stores before they arrive. So, customers don't have drive spend more money in gas, petrol, train or bus trying to find the minifigures.

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, 18 Jul 2010 12:58

@legomatt.........Really, you really think that, that's..........just dumb

If lego slowed down, the sales would plumet, it would NOT keep away the horders and scalpers like you faticized, it would just make more. That would just make people lose interest in the figures. If you do not want this enough to go look for them or to even do something as simple as pick up a phone to see if anyone has them, than i don't think that person even needs to have any, welcome to the jungle, you gotta be fast, hit hard, not give under pressure and be ready, series two will be worse, just so everyone knows, you have to be even more prepared, so get ready, this is no picnic, this is collecting, not plates, or china or something like furniture, no, this is fast pased, hard core collecting, so stop whining about not geting what you wanted last time and man up for this time

@lego8x8, if they let people order them online unlimited, they would go even faster, and how would that help.

@every one else, why do none of you people want the mime, he is AWESOME, i have only seen one person want the mime, come on, love the mimes to, he is crying on his other head, and thi is why =..(

Posted by bagofshhh in United States, 18 Jul 2010 21:20

Anybody have a printable list of bar codes similar to the first wave? Thanks!

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 18 Jul 2010 22:00

@GameOn99: I merely suggested a possible solution to the common complaint that a great many have had, i.e. that the series failed to meet a wide enough audience and sold out too soon due to under-production.

I think you will find that Lego agree with this 'dumb fantasy'. Lego WANTED this to be a children's collect & swap series, not a 'blink-and-you-miss-it' feeding frenzy. I see no 'whine' in this statement, nor any reason to get personal with that paragraph of baseless assumptions about my (and others) characters.
I find your assessment of how collecting should be some kind of testosterone-fuelled action sequence rather distasteful. You make it sound like a cheap war movie-script, and I've done enough collecting in my time to know it's just not the case. Grossly underestimating demand is bad business, as the manufacturer could be making more money and pleasing more customers.

The only reason this series was so short-lived, and therefore difficult to get, was entirely due to under-production. But as you seem so keen to attribute this complaint to our failings as men, you may like to know that I happen to own a complete set, plus a sealed set, and some additional spares (which I celebrated on my profile page many weeks ago). Is that 'man enough' for you? Personally, I think many will be insulted by the suggestion that they missed out for not being 'enough of a male', especially the females amongst us.

Incidentally, regarding my 'dumb fantasy': secondary markets ARE directly linked to supply; if a product is produced in large quantity so as to flood the retail market for an extended period, the secondary market does not come into effect until much later due to that ready supply (i.e. you can still buy them elsewhere), and with much less margin for profit due to the quantity previously available reducing later demand (i.e. everyone's now got them). Markets trade off supply & demand, its basic business. Compare Batman figs to Castle figs, or a Stormtrooper with Greedo.

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 18 Jul 2010 22:05

And on a point where we do agree, the MIME is one of my favourites too. :o)

Posted by kiwishark in New Zealand, 18 Jul 2010 23:34

Yep. Mime , Mexican, Spartan are my must haves. I'll probably end up getting the lot though:-) We haven't had any shortage of supply in New Zealand. Hopefully this holds true for series two.
