A new theme for 2010? Look on FBTB.net for a picture taken from this weeks San Diego Comic Convention. The picture is taken from the LEGO Prince of Persia booth. The figure in the picture is not from Prince of Persia, but I'm not going to spoil what the figure is. Just click through, and then come back here and tell us what you think.

It looks like Pirates of the Caribbean!

Posted by Jarod98 in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 10:21

I agree with ern120 it even says so!

Posted by brickmatt in United States, 23 Jul 2010 10:24

ern120 It is - that's what the picture says, and although I'm not a movie person, I've seen the movies for sale before and that definitely looks like the captain. I know Mega Bloks had some Pirates of the Caribbean sets before, perhaps they didn't renew their license.

Posted by nath8888 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 10:24

That could either mean that lego makes cool pirate themed sets, or they could end up with another cheesy movie theme.

Posted by kempo81 in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 10:28

i concur; definately looks like looks like pirates of the caribbean. maybe that would explain why there was only 1 new pirates set (10210) released in 2010??

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 10:36

Yep, I Agree thats Almost definitely pirates of the caribbean
(Assuming Lego has got this license) It's very cute... May have to spend Some money on these sets... Rats
Hey, If these are sets can we call them POTC?

Posted by starwars4ever in United States, 23 Jul 2010 10:47

Thats Jack Sparrow, so its obviously Pirates of the Carrabian!

Posted by astronautravi in United States, 23 Jul 2010 10:53

Yep, POTC. This theme could be as big as Star Wars.

Posted by legoman98 in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 10:54

Probably for next year to tie in with POTC 4th film

Posted by AMthedude in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 10:56

Meh. As much as I like Pirates of the Caribbean I'd rather Lego made some more original themes rather than expensive liscences. Still, I'll probably end up buying a few sets, just because!

Posted by fubuki in Japan, 23 Jul 2010 10:58

As big as Star Wars? You really think so?
Like how Indiana Jones was as big as Star Wars?

Posted by Carnigee77 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:01

Pirates of the Caribbean would be good if Lego does it right.

Posted by JCC1004 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:02

Wow! Pirates of the Caribbean! I hope they sell cool minifigs, maybe even a Black Pearl!

Posted by EarthlingJJ in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:08

but riding a camel?? Hmmm...

Posted by legoguysw in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 11:09

It'll go the same way as Prince of Persia- big first wave that ultimately ends up on sale a month after release.

Posted by diehardlegofan in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:12

Well LEGO has already made a deal with Disney, so it wouldn't hurt to make Pirates of the Caribbean sets.

Posted by redsoxfan1997 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:12

Jack Sparrow...I will say the mini figs and sets from a theme like that could and would be awesome but I don't want Star Wars to go.If Pirates Of The Caribbean Replaces it i'm fine with it but they may be very expensive judging from the detail on him.

Posted by Renegade007cjh in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 11:14

Am still waiting for a Lego James Bond theme... I know, I know... it's never gonna happen. But I can dream, can't I?

Posted by mrdennings in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:14

I don't know it seems a bit iffy to me, almost like someone planted one of their own custom figs ... however it is supposedly in the Lego display case at SDCC and I'd like to think that Lego would be aware of its own products and what exactly it’s displaying. In all honesty I’d like to see more pictures of it like by a second party taken on another day to verify if this was/is planted by Lego legitimately to create some web hype (kind of like how they snuck in the two Hoth battle packs into that video they released a while back)or if some fan snuck in his own custom during setup and no one caught it until someone asked a rep about it two hours into the show and someone did damage control hastily pulling it from the case and disavowing all knowledge of its existence.

Posted by mrdennings in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:16

...Of course an announcement at SDCC of a new license agreement by Lego and Disney would also go a long way in alleviating my suspicions...

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 11:24

Nope, star wars lego won't go. Think, Is the POTC movies more popular than the Star Wars ones? No, thus star wars lego is more popular (Not at first no, but in the long run). Star wars also has far More 'stuff' eg, the clone wars, actions figures, video games etc
@legoguysw I suspect that too, though with the 4th movie coming out it may last a lot longer...

Posted by Orange Lemons in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:25

Looks good to me. I see why the actual Pirates theme is being discontinued now since those were a big hit. I can see this being almost equal to Star Wars, as said in some previous posts. If this is done right it could be LEGO's next cash cow, seeing how popular the un-licensed version was. Now we may see a larger variety of those 18th/early 19th century soldiers.

Posted by Darthblaker74744 in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 11:28

that was definitely jack sparrow i think Disney made PotC so it sort of makes sense

Posted by Kobacca in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:31

Ahh, can someone post this picture on Flickr or something, because for some reason my computer won't allow FBTB and I'm dying to see it....

Posted by mrdennings in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:34

@kobacca its on the FBTB flicker page and you can see the pics on the Eurobricks page as well.

Posted by vulpixsmi in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 11:37

I might some these POTC set :P

Posted by Maerskblue in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:40

Looks like LEGO was listening or somebody knew something way back in 2009:

http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=372

Lots of comments on POTC after this comment was made:

Posted by bluemoose in United States, Sep 17 2009 4:50PM:
LEGO have to plan theme releases well in advance; the release of Pirates this year was probably an experiment, to see if there was demand for such sets. I think everyone is agreed that it was a success, but they are probably already committed to other themes next year ... planning for future releases is a whole load more complicated than most people realise. I'm certain that Pirates will be making a reappearance in the next couple of years ... and just an observation - Pirates of the Caribbean a Disney franchise, and LEGO & Disney have been getting very chummy recently ...

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 23 Jul 2010 11:42

THAT HAD TO HAPPEN!!! Pirates of the Caribbean HAD to happen, sooner or later! Can't wait to see LEGO's version of the Kraken that swallowed Jack Sparrow...

Posted by Sky-guardian in United States, 23 Jul 2010 11:44

Maybe that why they took out lego pirates!!!

Posted by atkinsar in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 11:58

I'd be surprised because I thought Mega Blocks had the POTC licence (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mega-Bloks-Pirates-Caribbean-Chest/dp/B000BGOGBW). I dunno maybe that licence wasn't exclusive or maybe it has ended.

I liked the first POTC film but 2 & 3 sucked in my opinion, not holding out much hope for 4 either. Of course, that doesn't mean that the sets wouldn't be good though, although I think they've already done a lot of similar sets in the pirates line anyway.

Posted by Yankeesboy08 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 12:08

Im really looking foward to it:]

Posted by Legoboy01 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 12:12

Im looking foward to them. I hope they make a black pearl set!!!!!

Posted by f-man in United States, 23 Jul 2010 12:14

I don't know, it almost looks like some of the custom made ones I've seen. But still, it would be nice!

Posted by the_collector in United States, 23 Jul 2010 12:16

I hope this is for real, it would be awesome, especially the lego versions of the dutchman crew

Posted by Jon_Brick in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 12:31

I though it was a really good custom at first but I really hope it's from the lego company.

Posted by mrdennings in United States, 23 Jul 2010 12:41

SOOOO...any one Going to ComicCon this weekend?

Posted by Kobacca in United States, 23 Jul 2010 12:44

^Thanks for the link mrdennings
I saw it and I can't wait. It's 'for real' all right!

Posted by M-Tron Hero Kodiak in United States, 23 Jul 2010 12:47

Well, if this is the case, it will help me convince my wife to let me get some more legos per month, since she loves those movies. Anyone else in the same boat as I am (pun intended :) )?

But Lego DID just redo the pirates line. So would they invest in this for something that already came out? No problem for AFOLs with liking the movies, but parents of kids who want more pirate sets when they may have a boat already on a shelf? It looks cool, but we can only wait!

Posted by Firox 5000 in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 13:00

Yay ! it's jack sparrow which means soon we will see Lego Pirates of the carrabean , I will definately try and buy all those sets that come out.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 13:09

This makes me happy ... and it proves my pre-cognitive powers are strong :-)
@Maerskblue - Thanks for digging out that link! ;-)

Posted by Commander-Cody in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 13:14

I smell a £100 Flying Dutchman and Black Pearl, with small sets from Isla de Muerta, Isla Cruces and Singapore

Posted by I like Lego in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 13:19

Maybe, maybe, Jerry Bruckheimer is coming out with another Pirates of the Caribbean movie, and Lego's making sets for the movie! That's the only possible reason.

Posted by andy0002 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 13:20

SWEET!! i'm a pirates fan and this is just unimaginable!! i'm gonna buy every single set! only draw back is that after the last pirates line ended i slowly got away from LEGO and more towards video games so... i have alot to purchase... guess i could use a summer job next year ...

Posted by spencey1980 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 13:20

i hope they make it better then Speed Racer Lego.
Now we need more 2011 lego set pics.

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 13:22

Hmmmmmm.....Intresting. Never been a Fan of PotC But The Figure Looks Good. :)

Posted by jacksonb526 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 13:23

What LEGO POTC Sets will we get? I Hope we have a Isla Cruces Battlepack!

Posted by UNSC in United States, 23 Jul 2010 13:26

... And thuss ends the rest of my life. You may ask why do you say that.... the simple answer will be confusing to you but not to me. My 6 year old cousin is in love with POTC, even though he closes his eyes during the parts that he finds very scary. He also wants to build lots of LEGOs after I told him about them. So this means I will have to deal with his favorite possible Lego theme. The only reason I am caomplaining is because all the lego sets I have bought for him lose most of their pieces after about the first day they are buit.

Posted by MisterB in United States, 23 Jul 2010 13:35

this is exciting. wonder if we will see a Lego video game as well from this license??

Posted by Tommyo3000 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 13:41

Wow thats awesome! I'm not surprised because first of all, they're coming out with a new POTC movie, Lego already has a license with disney, and they discontinued the other pirates line. I hope its not fake! :)

Posted by natro220 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 13:56

I wouldn't be surprised if they did it like Toy Story - release sets pertaining to the original 3 movies, then come out with sets for the 4th movie to coincide with its release in theaters. I agree with previous posters, a lego Black Pearl, Flying Dutchman, and various location and scene specific sets would be awesome! I'm sure Disney and Lego realizes there's a great untapped market for this, as the Lego market and Mega Blocks market usually don't overlap that much. I know I would NEVER buy a Mega Blocks set, and thought the Black Pearl Mega Blocks set was really not very good looking.

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 13:59

It would be really hot it Lego got the theme ... However it could just as easily be a custom figure the creator of the display added for laughs.

Posted by Legoluch in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 14:01

Awesome! But the detailing on Jack Sparrow is almost too great..too much for Lego? Well anyway it would be really amazing if they released the series... I'm going to miss you my old friend Star Wars ;(

Posted by patch in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 14:06

three words.OH MY WORD!This looks awesome!I was hoping for a PotC theme. It is possible, as lego have already made a few Disney liscences, and that may be why it's in the PoP booth.@Maerskblue,Hmm interesting link.P.S.Does anyone have any idea why jack is riding a camel?

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 14:15

The figs appearance at SDCC is clearly a clever bit of 'teaser' marketing; I wouldn't read anything into him riding a camel. The reason he's in the PoP display is the link between the PoP & PotC movies - they are both Disney properties. The fourth PotC movie is "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" & is currently due for release in late May 2011.

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 14:21

For sure Jack Sparrow. The ship models should be a lot of fun!

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 14:44

Yeah, when I told my sister about this she said there was going to be another sequel... of course given the way the last one ended it's no surprise Disney looks to make further profit. And knowing Disney they plan to milk its products for all it's worth. Like others have said, Lego and Disney are currently working together. I do see the Pirates theme running longer than Prince of Persia becasue it does have a lot more to work with (seeing how they'll be four movies). A theme does seem more possible the more I read into it.

Posted by BioFreak877 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 15:08

It's not Jack Sparrow, it's CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow!

Posted by RagingCelt in United States, 23 Jul 2010 15:15

Wow! Nice to see LEGO picking up the POTC run. The megabloks series was a little sad. As for the naysayers and the folks questioning the wisdom let us remember a couple of things: POTC is an established franchise with well known and well developed characters. Never mind what we all thought of 2 and 3 POTC was a cultural force. (Gad, honestly, the whole world turned in to freakin' pirates for a couple of years there.) And finally, Cap'n Jack is really a nifty character and that is one slammin' mini fig!!

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 15:16

^^ So you have heard of him ;-)

Posted by power miner2020 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 16:05

The minifig is very rare (and wierd)

Posted by loganevanlegos in United States, 23 Jul 2010 16:14

That minifig is awsome!! POTC all the way! But what about Lord of the Rings. ;)

Posted by Carnigee77 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 16:15

I hope you all realise your jumping to loads of conclusions.
And i would have to decide between PotC and the new jedi starfighter

Posted by peanut3197 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 16:22

Definently Pirates of the Caribbean, Hope the sets are as cool as Captain Jack Sparrow looks

Posted by Jon_Brick in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 16:31

LotR is unlikely to become a lego theme because their hasn't been a movie in that series since 2003 which means their's not a huge market for it. Also, even if The Hobbit becomes a movie anytime soon they're aren't that many main characters which are in both The Hobbit and the LotR trilogy, unlike with other themes where multiple characters are in multiple films.

Posted by bader in United States, 23 Jul 2010 16:35

Makes sense with the Disney license... Thats why they cancelled Lego Pirates... to make way for Cap. Jack and co.

Posted by bader in United States, 23 Jul 2010 16:36

If it true, and the characters look as good as the teaser, we have some outstanding sets and figs coming our way!

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 23 Jul 2010 16:40

Thats.....amazing.....

Posted by lego123456gh in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 16:54

It would be cool if they made lego dr who.

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 17:12

I agree 110% with lego123456gh: Doctor Who will be amazing. Maybe more popular then starwars, and thats saying something
The Pirates of the Caribbeans looks good but I never liked that boats....is this replacing starwars?
Couldn't the Jack Sparrow minifig be some kind of fanmade custom?

Posted by Kobacca in United States, 23 Jul 2010 17:20

LEGO Lord of the Rings would indeed be fantastic. With the current lego challenge having a picture of a group of Elven minifigs on surfboards, I thought it might be the slightest intimation (slightest) that we would get Elves sometime...

Posted by legomaniac in United States, 23 Jul 2010 17:26

As long as LEGO doesn't get a license to make twilight sets, then im ok :)
I like the pirates of the caribbean, seems interesting in what LEGO has in store.

Posted by MarvelZombie2099 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 17:38

Since news came from Comic Con, I had my fingers crossed for a Marvel license. Oh well. POTC will be a lot of fun too.

Posted by Kalhiki in United States, 23 Jul 2010 18:09

Jack Sparrow is on his next exciting adventure!

Posted by The Guy With The Bricks in United States, 23 Jul 2010 18:15

@ceroknight
Sorry, but Dr. Who doesn't have anywhere near the fan base that Star Wars has, especially internationally. I highly doubt that any line will sell better than Star Wars, ever. There have been very few cross-generational, cross-cultural media phenomenons on the same level as Star Wars in history

That said, I think POTC could be a very interesting line. I don't know why people think it will replace the Star Wars theme though. I highly doubt the SW line will end now. They are still Lego's most popular sets, and they keep many AFOL's engaged and collecting.

Posted by Pulpdiction in United Kingdom, 23 Jul 2010 18:26

This looks cool, maybe buy a couple of these sets. Dr Who would be rubbish, not interested in Lord of the rings either, but maybe a bond series, that could be good, the cars anyway, imagine a lego Lotus Esprit turning into a submarine.

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 23 Jul 2010 18:30

@MarvelZombie2099, Disney just grabbed Marvel Entertainment a few months back. Lego can take some after a few years.

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 18:38

yes i see what you are saying crzypainter..dr who is not popular everywhere....I guess i was exaggerating :S however it will be nice.

Posted by Orange Lemons in United States, 23 Jul 2010 18:40

@ ceroknight: LEGO has extended the Star Wars license already, so it's not being replaced by anything until it stops selling.

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 18:54

i am glad to hear that orange lemons :-)

Posted by j013 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 19:13

Why in the world is lego doing Pirates of the Caribbean? When mega block did Pirates of the Caribbean it crashed and burned!

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 19:36

@j013: WELL DUH, that was megabloks, mega bloks sucks.

I can't wait to see the ships, i hope they make the whirlpool scene from #3, that would be SOOOOOOOO EEEEEEEPPPPPPIIIIIICCCCC, TWO SHIPS with playu features, maybe swining ropes, some sort of feature in the middle, it would be just amazing, i want to see if they do anything from numbers 2 or 3 and have davy jones' heart, it would be interesting, and handy if you want to maximize indiana jones ToD Mola Ram playing, hahahahahahaha, anyway, no dout this is going to be real very soon, maybe even 2010 if we are lucky, i mean hey, it could happen, i so hope so, this is going to be so amazing.

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 20:41

Maybe we're getting our hopes up for something too early.

After all, what started this talk anyway?! A figure seen at comic con. I don't suppose anyone asked about the display while they were there? Was it put together by a fan, or sent by Lego? Cpt Jack Sparrow smells of custom design.

Posted by legofanatic2414 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 21:35

Pirates of the Carribean?!! Fantastic! Fellow members, this means any future Disney movies will have a 85% chance of becoming a short-lived series. LEGO Winnie the Pooh here I come! :P OOh, IF this really is real I SO want a Davy Jones and Barbossa!! I would do anything for a LEGO Stitch (My favorite) and WALL-E

Posted by itsaturkey in United States, 23 Jul 2010 22:32

Better then Star wars? uhh yeah thats NEVER gonna happen. star wars has been around for around 20 years, and is probably in the most famous movies of all time, well most famous 6 movies :P sorry if i seem a bit strong but im a strong SW fan, and Halo fan. but anyway i think PoTC is a creative way to have pirate sets, but im sad because its licensed which means its going to be 2 times more expensive. and i also think lego is getting a tad lazy, they used to only have only 2 or 3 licensed themes (SW HP) now they have 6. (SW, HP, TS, PoP, PoTc, Cars)
if theres any new Disney sequals that are action/adventure have a good chance of being lego-ized. just like TS and PoTC. but i am glad lego is doing a pirates theme. for some reason i feel that this theme will only last 2-3 years.
so, how 'bout some Alien and Predator legos ;P LOL that day will never come!

Posted by jagdjh in United States, 23 Jul 2010 22:37

@ lenjonxiii - Apparently there are already two Hobbit movies in production and scheduled to be released in 2011 and 2012. http://derhobbit-film.de/indexengl.shtml

Posted by Jon_Brick in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 22:44

I agree that Star Wars will pretty much never be topped but I also think that PotC will be a huge money maker because the movies grossed a ton of money worldwide and Disney is planning for more than one movie following At World's End (so I've heard). I also would love to see some Force unleashed II sets and more Marvel lego, maybe sets from Avengers, Spider-man or X-men.

@jagdjh Thanks for the update.

Posted by legomaniac in United States, 23 Jul 2010 22:49

I wonder if LEGO will do a Tron theme? :D its made by disney

Posted by Jon_Brick in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 22:55

@legomaniac Tron would be awesome.

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 23 Jul 2010 23:14

wow four liscensed themes in one year......yes starwars is unbeatable because of the fans it collected for more than a decade now....
i dont think POtC will work because of megablok....as you all know, everything about megablok is garbage....so when 'building toys' consumers see these products, they will think its megablok garbage and wont buy these (yes there are people out there who doesn't know the difference between lego and megablok). This will go to other themes that megablok did including Marvel, Halo and PotC.
And I still think this Sparrow figure is a custom made by a lego+PotC fan.....

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 23 Jul 2010 23:58

YIPE! *Sudden Realiztion in Progress*..............Are You Thinking What I'm Thinking? DAVY JONES' CREW!!!!!!!! I Cannot WAIT to See What they Look Like!

That Aside, I Think This New Line Will Be Very Possible to Make With The Upcoming 4th Movie, "On Stranger Tides." :)

Posted by popchik in United States, 24 Jul 2010 00:03

@ legofanatic2414 Actually, Lego has done Winne the Pooh. Duplo, 2000.

Posted by the_collector in United States, 24 Jul 2010 00:04

I really hope this is for real, and at the same time i hope its not. Yes,lego PotC would be amazing, but if it is real, someone said Lego eould be handling six licenced product lines, each making alot of money, which means something else is probably going to end, and by the looks of things, something big. And the only big thing is, well, Star Wars. I fear the end is near for their most sucsessful line.

Posted by Carnigee77 in United States, 24 Jul 2010 00:31

Look, there is absolutly no way that the Star Wars line will end soon. It has the biggest fan base and most sets.

Posted by Scoutjo5 in Canada, 24 Jul 2010 00:45

Pirates!!!! As long as there is a ship I will be happy! Thanks for the picture anyways. I actually saw the picture on Eurobricks first.

Posted by The Guy With The Bricks in United States, 24 Jul 2010 01:12

@the_collector: I'm sorry, I don't quite follow your logic. Many themes+ making lots of money= cancelling the biggest, most profitable theme? How does that follow at all?

The Star Wars line is going to continue for some time.

Posted by Orsie in United Kingdom, 24 Jul 2010 02:41

ah i knew it would happen i got some of mega blox POTC for christmas once it was rubbish! (mind you most mega blox is) when i heard disney was changing over to lego i realised that POTC would go with them

Posted by BrickDaddy in United States, 24 Jul 2010 04:20

Saw the setup today at the Comic Con. Kicking myself that I didn't notice this, but since it was hidden in the Prince of Persia line I didn't look closely there. I'm sure it was a real teaser figure though, I remember where the camel was too, just didn't pay attention to the characters. The setup was large 4-shelf locked display cases around the perimeter of the Lego Booth. Each case was a theme, and just showing the sets, with plaques giving the names and suggested retail prices.

You had to expect they'd do this, timing of the Disney License acquisition, POTC4, and release of Lego Pirates for just one year, could not be coincidental. We know Mega Blocks had the licenses for the previous movies,so for me the question is not whether Lego will release POTC, but will they only have a license for POTC4 content? That would likely mean no Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, Leviathon, possibly Davy Jones and crew depending on the new plot.

Posted by Axel6430 in France, 24 Jul 2010 05:24

Oh no! So it was why the lego Pirate line was cancelled? I'm getting tired of those licenses replacing classic themes. The only license I can stand is LSW.

Posted by legowasta in Netherlands, 24 Jul 2010 07:56

Great! Now I can finally make a decent Bob Marley minifig! ;-)

Posted by BioFreak877 in United States, 24 Jul 2010 08:03

My sister is gonna scream for me to get Will Turners minifig, but i am actually interested in buying a few of these sets and seeing how they play out. I hope this theme can last longer than others have lately!

Posted by miniman30 in United Kingdom, 24 Jul 2010 08:08

Oh dear, am I the only person not liking this? I hate the films but I am hoping some of the sets will have a slight resemblance to the Walt Disney Attraction
(see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_of_the_Caribbean_(attraction))
The idea of having a lego version of the burning village and 'wife auction' from the ride really appeals to me, lots of trans orange pieces :D

Maybe we'll see great MOCs of the PoTC ride attraction? That would be cool. LEGO PoTC will be a step up from Mega Bloks just because the figures will be LEGO minifigs opposed to those monstrosities the other company makes!

The theme song to the PoTC is going through my head right now.

The 1st time Cap Jack Sparrow is on screen in the 1st movie has to be one of the best ever movie introductions to a character of all time when he sails his "ship" (which is submerged in the water up to the mast!) into the docks and then steals money from the dock worker.

Posted by legobob in United States, 24 Jul 2010 08:59

boo lego is making too many cheesey movie themes for 7 year olds I mean why they already have pirates this is just another misstake of lego this all started with the discountiueing of bionicle WHY LEGO WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Captain Aardvark in United States, 24 Jul 2010 10:42

Maybe its just a joke or something, with the captain making a cameo appearance in a POP display. If it is a real theme, it could be pretty good...

One can never really be sure with these new licences. From what I've seen nothing has caught on quite as much as Star Wars. This license set the bar for all others. Indiana, Toy Story, Prince of Persia. We go through quick phases with these and after a few months no one remembers them. I'm a little skeptical with these new license sets. Lego makes a ton of money from them becuase they are the latest and greatest but none have the lasting power of Star Wars. The only license in my opinion that is worthy of a comeback is Batman.

Posted by brccoins in United States, 24 Jul 2010 11:07

This is very exciting. I can't wait to get my hands on the Black Pearl!

Posted by mrdennings in United States, 24 Jul 2010 12:30

Guys I'm Sorry to have to do this however I've found another gallery of the SDCC lego booth displays and unfortunatly from what i've seen it is noticibly devoid of a Captain Jack Sparrow Riding a cammel, Now to be Fair there is only one picture with a camel in it and there is always the possiblity of the displays being repossed so its possible that he's just been moved to another stand (I focused pretty much only on the PoP stuff) But...Well Ill let you guys look for yourselves... again...Sorry

oh yeah and sorry if im not suppose to post outside links to other sites but i thought this would be welcomed

Yes! I've always wanted to have an actual carribean battle. Perhaps Pirates is following the same fate as Castle?

Posted by LeGoB12A21 in Canada, 24 Jul 2010 13:52

LegoPops-if they brought Batman back that would be awesome!(considering he is my favourite hero)

Posted by Sand Raider in United States, 24 Jul 2010 20:25

It could just be a custom figure some random person put there to get peolpe excited. Also, Johnny Depp, Kiara (spelling?) Knightly, and "Will Turner" (I don't know the actor's name) aren't going to be in the fourth movie.

Posted by Roketah in Australia, 24 Jul 2010 20:35

THey are making another movie so I guess but mega bloks already ous rights

Posted by labrat in United States, 24 Jul 2010 23:56

I read a POTC Wiki awhile ago that said an employee of travelers tales (the VG company that made LEGO Star Wars the Video Game) has already mentioned that they are designing a Lego POTC Video Game. It will be released Dec. 2011. If that is true, you can bet Lego will release Lego POTC in 2010. I can't find the page agian to post the link. Help me find it...you're my only hope.

Posted by nadnerb112 in United States, 25 Jul 2010 00:41

Well this should be true, because the new movie is coming out next year so yeah. Wait... How do you people know whos is gonna be in the movie and who isn't? And Im asuming that this will be like TS 1,2, and 3. There gonna mix them all up and have something that is in every movie , like for the TS pizza planet set. They will make some sets possibly around X-Mas and then have the other POTC4 sets either in oct. or aug,im guessing :?

Posted by mrdennings in United States, 25 Jul 2010 00:59

I think its safe to say that Jonny Depp will be in the 4th POTC movie what with him being the SOLE content for the "Pirates of the Carribean 4 on stranger tides" Teaser at ComicCon That and the fact that its public knolwedge that he's signed a contract to appear in a 4th movie...That and he's in Hawaii FILMING said Movie... however Will and Elizabeth will not as he's currently busy ferrying the Dead to the underworld and she's busy kinging over the pirates, that and exects have stated that thier story arch has been completed (something they should have done after the 1st movie if you ask me)

Posted by legocity1 in United Kingdom, 25 Jul 2010 05:59

just wait a second lego made Indiana Jones to celebrate the release of the new movie and then toy story 3 and now POTC lego could celebrate the release of the new movie.

Posted by peanut3197 in United States, 25 Jul 2010 13:27

Looked on wikipedia and Pirates 4 (On Stranger Tides) is due for release in May 2011, so I am guessing LEGO will release sets to go with the previous 3 movies, just like they did for Toy Story and Indiana Jones, then release more sets for the NEW movie. However that is just a guess
Go to wikipedia.com and go to the POTC page which will give you a link to the page for movie #4, it will tell you all about the movies's plot, cast, and more

Posted by labrat in United States, 25 Jul 2010 13:32

Here it is, the link I was looking for:

Lego POTC Video Game? that would be Brill!

Posted by legocity1 in United Kingdom, 25 Jul 2010 15:59

why are all the lego original themes turning into licensed theme for example
-- adventures turned into Indiana Jones
-- pirates turning into POTC
what's next Atlantis turns into the little mermaid

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 25 Jul 2010 16:01

@legocity1: Don't Forget PoP Replacing Indy! Double Buzzkill! :D

Posted by circoloco in Poland, 26 Jul 2010 05:25

There will NOT be Pirates of Carribean from Lego in 2011, not in 1st half a year at least.

Posted by legoman98 in United Kingdom, 26 Jul 2010 05:28

@circoloco how do you know?

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, 26 Jul 2010 06:40

^ Yeah, *agree*

Posted by circoloco in Poland, 26 Jul 2010 10:24

I have a store and have newest information earlier. There will be new (old) licenses in 2010 from Disney but not Pirates.

Posted by legoboy545 in Canada, 26 Jul 2010 10:41

hopefully they make Jack...........(the monkey) more detailed than the other ones lego has released

Posted by legoman98 in United Kingdom, 26 Jul 2010 11:40

On wikipedia on the 3ds page it says warner bros will release a new lego game next year. Probably POTC is what everyone is saying. As its WB it will most probably be another movie mad into lego game linking POTC.

But why is the rum gone?
(Sorry. Had to bring that up)

Posted by minifig051 in United States, 26 Jul 2010 21:14

@Crt2: I don't think Lego is done with Indy yet. They haven't made the tank and the Holy Grail Temple from TLC(The Last Crusade), the map room(with Sallah minifig) and the tent(with Toht and a white-suited Belloq)from RotLA(Raiders of the Lost Ark), the palace, the rock crusher, and maybe the plane from ToD(Temple of Doom), and a set with Mac and Ox minifigs from KotCS(Kingdom of the Crystal Skull). Indy's just taking a vacation because Lego is busy with new licenses like TS, PoP, HP, and Duplo Cars. If PotC doesn't come out next year like circoloco says there won't, Indy's coming back. PoP will definetly be gone by then, so there's going to be a spot open. Indy will be back next year if the PotC sets come after the video game comes out, and they probably will because we know about the game now but didn't see any plans for sets yet. One big peice of evidence that Indy's coming back is that the Lego site web page is still there, it's on Products pg 2. Also, Indy has alot of fans, including me. Maybe not as much as SW, but still a good amount. We'll all be glad to have Indy back.

Posted by circoloco in Poland, 27 Jul 2010 05:15

I saw all offer for 1st half 2011 and part of 2nd half. I can say that Lego does not have offer POTC in 1st half a year. Maybe there are planing to do something in the 2nd half a year but I did not hear anything about. I am not allowed to spred information before but: there will be 2 new (old) licences in 2011 as well, new figures action....

Lego Johnny Depp and Kiera Knightley. Should be great minifigs. They can do a masterclass with lego Alfred Molinas, Harrison Fords and Sean Connery. Looking forward to Helena Bonham-Carter and Julie Walters this year too. If only Lego Batman had featured Lego Michael Cain. Hollywood theme emerging from the licenses? We can do Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland now.

Posted by circoloco in Poland, 27 Jul 2010 08:35

What do You think about Disney's Cars made from Bricks ? :-)

Posted by DrathMaul1997 in United Kingdom, 27 Jul 2010 15:48

@Don didn't tron come out 10 years ago? If so then it's hardly for the age group LEGO's looking for...
@circoloco Look at below. Or did you mean 'real' lego? :)
http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Duplo&subtheme=Cars

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 27 Jul 2010 16:17

@darthmaul1997: they are making another tron movie

Posted by minifig051 in United States, 27 Jul 2010 18:29

@circoloco: What do you mean by "2 new (old) licenses" ?

Posted by circoloco in Poland, 28 Jul 2010 07:02

ehh, ok I tell You some guys:
- Duplo will be Winnie the Pooh again
- Cars will be made from bricks (not duplo)

Posted by astronautravi in United States, 28 Jul 2010 12:44

Sweet! Cars was an awesome movie...can't wait for brick (non-duplo) version

Posted by minifig051 in United States, 28 Jul 2010 14:56

Cars made from regular bricks? I wonder how big they'll be. It could be Creator-sized (like Super Speedster), or Racers mini-sized (like those fold-out track sets). More likley they'll be mini-sized if they make buildings, and probably will. They might do both like they did with TS. They had those big-sized Construct-a-Buzz and Construct-a-Zurg sets. Wait, more licenses? This could delay Indy's return! HP and TS might still be around (TS still needs to come out with Lego Patato Heads and Slinky Dog), so Indy might be coming back and he might not. If he doesn't come back next year, he'll come back eventually. Oh, and the Lego Indy web page still being there isn't as big a peice of evidince as I thought. The Mars Mission, Agents, Pirates, and Spongebob(I hate Spongebob, I'm glad he's gone) pages are still there too. We know those themes aren't coming back.

Posted by shieldsy in Ireland, 28 Jul 2010 15:53

I really hope this is true because im a big big fan of potc. And I think there is going to be a new lego star wars game next year. (sorry for being off topic)

Posted by jlegofan in United States, 28 Jul 2010 18:22

I'm guessing that PotC might come out to replace Star Wars because Lego's license with LucasArts ends in early 2011. Also, the fourth movie comes out in May.

Posted by astronautravi in United States, 28 Jul 2010 19:14

@minifig051 cars'll probably be ts r/c size

Posted by circoloco in Poland, 29 Jul 2010 04:59

Lego Cars would be good move as Cars 2 movie will come in 2011.
Star Wars is to be continued next year, 5-6 sets will be realsed in Jan.
City will have 2 new (not licensed) lines also.

Posted by legoman98 in United Kingdom, 29 Jul 2010 06:07

@circoloco What 5-6 new star wars sets are being released in January and what 2 new city lines are there?

Posted by circoloco in Poland, 29 Jul 2010 07:23

New city lines will be "city space" and "city harbour", Star Wars not now, patient must be :-)

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 29 Jul 2010 12:40

@Circoloco: Hmmmmmm.....Do You Know if Toy story will Be Continued? Also, I Can't Wait to See City Harbour!!! :)

Edit:Oh! Oh! Will Harry potter Be Continued!?! Please say yes! Please!

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 29 Jul 2010 12:43

@minifig051:Ha! You Were Wrong! And Just So you Know, Mr. Potato Head and Slinky Dog are Copyrighted by Different Brands, So Lego Can't Make Them. That's Why I Asked if TS Will Be Continued.

Posted by astronautravi in United States, 29 Jul 2010 12:50

City space will probably be like this, I guess:
http://brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Town&subtheme=Space%20Port
City harbour should be awesome!

@Circoloco: Please tell us what the new star wars sets r gonna be :-]

Posted by j013 in United States, 29 Jul 2010 18:03

awman i cant wait to see what lego dos in 2011.

Posted by minifig051 in United States, 29 Jul 2010 18:55

Well, I guess TS will be gone next year. HP might go away then come back when the last 2 movies are made (the last book is going to be split into 2 movies) So Indy most likely will come back next year! The only other licenses will be Cars, SW, and Duplo WtP. @jlegofan: SW isn't done yet. You said the license with Lucasarts will end, but you didn't say Lucasfilm. Lucasarts just makes video games, Lucasfilm does the sets. That's why they made that SW video game recently. SW (and Indy) are safe. (also, circoloco said there'll be more SW sets in January) New Lego City Harbor sets? I have the old ones. Emergency will probably be next. I have the old Harbor, Airport, Police, Fire, and Emergency sets. And they've all been (or going to be) replaced! Oh well. I'll just take then apart and use them as spare parts. @circoloco: How do you know about the 2011 sets?

Posted by LobsterWarrior in United States, 29 Jul 2010 21:01

Eh, I think it was probably just a joke.

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 29 Jul 2010 21:38

@minifig051: I Hate to Correct you, Again, But Everyone Knows About HPatDH Being in 2 Parts. On The lego Related Note, The First one's Coming out in November, Which Makes it Very Likely This Theme will Continue. And The Second One Comes out May '11. So I Have High Hopes They'll Continue it.

Posted by ledaKat in New Zealand, 30 Jul 2010 02:51

If that is for real I will be very excited! That Jack Sparrow figure looks perfect and there are many fantastic characters and sets they can build from those films. I will be on the lookout for more info about it.

Posted by circoloco in Poland, 30 Jul 2010 05:09

@minifig051: About City: Police will also be replaced next year, and there is high propability that this line will be avaible even in Dec2010.

There will be Minifigures vol.3 also, but propably without barcodes.

About my knowledge? I wrote before, take a look.
Please notice I am not allowed to spread all informations before specyfic time. All I can tell You in Aug/Sept.

Posted by legoman98 in United Kingdom, 30 Jul 2010 14:33

@circoloco So you can tell us in 2 days time (1st Aug)?

Posted by minifig051 in United States, 30 Jul 2010 17:35

@circoloco: Police replaced again? They did this with Fire, too. If they replace Coast Guard and Farm it'll be every City sub- theme will be replaced at least once! There's going to be a big Lego City set disassembly at my house soon. I'm glad I didn't get alot of the old sets.

Posted by jonbuddy in United States, 31 Jul 2010 11:30

@legocity1 & CrT2, That's not what's happening at all. It just looks like that. Liscensed themes are their own entitiy.

Posted by circoloco in Poland, 01 Aug 2010 17:05

@legoman98: no, close to Sept I guess. Soryy I cannot tell everything. It's half of 2010 now guys, take fun of what You have now :-)
