    Collectable Minifigures/Series 2, 2010
    More details...
    ©2010 LEGO Group

They are now showing up in LEGO brand stores in the USA and apparently they were briefly available from ToysRUs.com, but sold out within an hour (so says the ugly duckling).

I am told that the official release date is September 6th, so expect them to appear at LEGOshop.com then.

Also, as you may have read in comments here, BOTH Advent calendars -- the City AND the Kingdoms ones are available in U.S. brand stores, priced at $35!

I would like to take a second and thank those responsible for running and contributing to this amazing website (huw, bluemoose, yellowcastle, ect)! This website is a must visit each time I am online.

Thanks to those who share their info about what stores have the minifigs and which ones do not. Back in late May when Series 1 hit the shelves here in the US people posted their findings. Even though the closest store to me that people reported finding the minifigs at was in Massachusetts and I am in NY I went to my local TRU and was able to secure a set for myself and a couple of friends.

Now that Series 2 has hit some stores in the US I was able to buy these figs online at toysrus.com thanks to Legogirl19 posting the link in a different discussion here on Brickset. The LEGO online community is AWESOME and this is another example why this is so!

Thanks Brickset!

The lego store in Austin, TX at Barton Creek Mall has both advent calendars. They came into the store on Monday, August 23.

Posted by yakop in United States, 24 Aug 2010 20:04

The store in Columbus OH had the minifigures and the advent calendars.

Posted by 1265 in United States, 24 Aug 2010 20:16

Great news on the advent calendars. Gotta head to the Lego store to pick up both calendars. I doudt they will still have the minifigures. Nonetheless, my 60 I ordered at toysrus.com shipped today. Wonder if it will be a box or single packages.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 24 Aug 2010 20:28

I struggle to believe that TRU.com sold out in one hour. After I ordered mine, I checked on the website like 3 hours later and they were still available.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 24 Aug 2010 20:57

I will only want the Kingdom one. I feel that the City Calendar is too expensive for what is in there.
As for the figs I am glad Legogirl19 (thanks again) provided that link as I got the number of packs I wanted and well before they ran out (whether temporarily or not). I also got my shipping notification so I know they are on the way.
Although something struck me as odd.
I could only find though online if I used the link provided by Legogirl19. If I went to the TRU.com website and tried to search for them or search for Lego I could not find them.
So that was weird and I dunno if anyone else had that issue as well.

Posted by 1265 in United States, 24 Aug 2010 20:57

@starfire2 - I don't believe the 1 hour hype either. It's more like 6 hours.

Posted by pizzicato in United States, 24 Aug 2010 21:22

I also had the same issue, you can't search "LEGO Minifigure Volume 2" or any of those words on the TRU, it doesn't come up. Very weird.

This is very interesting news, although I'm not much of a fan of the Collectible Minifigs I know a lot of people are. The main reason I am commenting is to talk about the Kingdoms Advent Calendar, which is is awesome! I am a huge Kingdoms fan (even though I only have three Kingdoms sets), and I've been waiting forever for the Advent Calendar to come out. At first I didn't want it, but a second look made me notice that it had nine minifigs: a Queen, a Female Peasant, a Male Peasant, a Blacksmith, two Lion Knights, a Skeleton, a Dragon Knight, and a Wizard. Plus, it has a pig, a chair for the queen, some armor and a small dungeon. I can't wait to get it!

@Nannan - That's exactly what I thought right away.

@bmwlego (and everyone) - I completely agree with you (although I'm not much into the Collectible Minifigs).

@1265 - Did you buy 60 separate Collectible Minifigs?

@starfire2 & 1265 - I agree, how could a store sell out in an hour?

Posted by DougHnut in United States, 24 Aug 2010 21:53

Toys R Us in Northern Cali had a box come in today. $2.99 each, limit 4. Bummer that I just had the old european pdf with the series 2 codes in my pocket and RedLaser for iPhone doesn't have the barcodes on it yet (has series 1). I also couldn't get the pdf from this site at the counter because I'd guess Apple and Adobe don't like each other. So I only bought 4 randoms ones. Fortunately I got the Vamp, Mime, Mariachi and Pharoh by feeling bags or more likely just plain dumb luck. My kids went absolutely bananas. 12 more to go...

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 24 Aug 2010 22:11

I didn't go hog wild on TRU.com yesterday when I read about them having the packs. Partly because I had already bought 15 packs at Lego store, and partly because I only need 5 more characters and whether I bought 15, 30 or 60 I may or may not get the ones I want. I too have an iphone and was very disappointed series 2 was not in the reader. When you scan the bar code to the right it just says product of Lego. So much of our trip to Lego store was spent feeling packs for the different elements. Luckily the guy next to us helped us too.
Today we went to our local TRU to see if they got in their shipment of minifigures and they had not received them. There was also a guy waiting there too. He said "I always get a whole case". Definitely an eBay seller.

Posted by Thatlegoguy in United States, 24 Aug 2010 22:18

What's wrong with eBay sellers?

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 24 Aug 2010 22:26

I don't have a problem with eBay sellers. I have sold on eBay before, but some of us would like a chance to get our hands on them for our own collection first. Because of the eBay sellers me and my kids missed out on series 1. Our local TRU sold out of series 1 in less than 20 minutes all 3 cases they had. The local Lego rep told us she was there and saw a couple come in and buy 2 cases. Not too fair for kids. Sorry if it offended anyone.

Posted by grendelscott in United States, 24 Aug 2010 22:34

Thanks again to legogirl19 for the heads-up on tru.com. I got my shipping notification today. :) I hopefully ordered enough to get two full sets (the first goes to my niece, the second to me). They definitely didn't sell out in just an hour.

I did hear from a co-worker that the Chandler, AZ store had them again today, with the limit of 16. I might try to run over there tomorrow to check out the advent sets.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 24 Aug 2010 23:16

Let me first start off by saying I am not an eBay seller. I bought a bunch of packs from TRU online because I want a set, my GF wants a set, my Brother wants a set, my nephews want a set, etc.
BUT Do not BLAME eBay sellers.. As they say "Do not hate the player hate the game."
Lego KNEW they had a hit on their hands when people were discussing these in news groups for the past 8-9 months, especially with Series one. But did they increase their production order? NO, they did not.. If Lego wanted to stop the eBay sellers two simple things would need to occur.
1) Increase production to the point where the market is saturated with these and they really are how Lego wanted, which is to see these sitting around on Checkout counter aisles with the rest of the dime store products for anyone to be able to pickup as an afterthought (at least I am guessing that is what they may have had in mind)
AND/OR
2)Make every one the same rarity, which is common....

The way I see it Lego knew the demand for the Series one and apparently did not do much to increase production for Series 2.. at least enough so far, as I am seeing more ways to get these, but Lego created the series 2 monster when series 1 sold out so quickly.. Those who did not get many, if any, series 1 are now overcompensating to get series 2 and now people that would not normally buy a box are looking to get as many as they can, but again did Lego say or do anything to stop people from thinking they would sell out this easily? No, at least not at this time..

Maybe Series 3 will meet one of the above points, but I doubt it, because the demand means buzz and that means that Lego will always sell these out of their warehouses, which really appears to be the name of the game...

I hope I am wrong, I hope Lego goes 'HAH' and puts out another 10000, 20000, 30000, etc. but if Series 1 was any indication I doubt they will.
If I offend anyone I apologize, as this is just my opinion and I am not speaking for Lego or TRU.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 24 Aug 2010 23:26

I just got back from the Lego Store in Tysons Corner, VA which had both advent calendars as well as Series 2 Minifigures. The Castle Advent Calendar is great (especially the figures and cauldron) but I was a little put off by the price. I ended up just picking up some Series 2 figs as well as the great Helicopter/Limousine set. While I still think I prefer Series 1, I really like some of these Series 2 figures as well as the accessories such as the mini statue, speeding ticket, and ski hat.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 24 Aug 2010 23:45

@starfire2 - I think we were all frustrated by the scarcity of the Series 1 figures here in the states. But I don't think "box" buyers bear the blame here. Retailers in the states appear to have just been caught off guard by the immense popularity of these figures. Based on the posts here from our European members, it would seem, at least anecdotally, that the Series 1 figures were much more readily available across the pond. But I definitely see some improvements with Series 2 so far. Lego stores have increased the limit to 16 per person and there hasn't been as much, if any, delay between initial TRU sightings and the first Lego Store sightings. Additionally, I don't recall us ever being able to buy Series 1 figs on the TRU website yet we were able to buy Series 2, if only for a few hours. :o)

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 24 Aug 2010 23:52

@ yellowcastle did your local Lego store limit the amount of figures you could get?
@ madforlegos Again, did not mean to offend anyone. I just like many others would like to be able to have some for my kids and myself. In a way I like the limits some stores put on the amount you can buy, that way everyone gets a fair turn to buy them. I definitely think Lego dropped the ball on this series (1 and 2). I think they should have released them in a whole set with a display case for $40-50. I think most people would have bought them. I know I would have.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 25 Aug 2010 00:20

@ Starfire2, Thank you, but the Apology is not needed :-)
If you thought I directed this at you, I apologize. I directed it at everyone that I have heard saying, or at least making it sound like they are saying, that the eBay sellers are solely to blame.

Although I would say that most people buying in stores are those who are looking to build sets and not sell on eBay. I believe those eBay sellers were ones that were probably buying figure packs by the 1000's on TRU.com.
The limits are OK in stores, BUT the issue is that if you are limited to 5 packs, and you are one person I understand. BUT people are hitting stores with their kids, and significant other, so now 20+ figures could be gone (and the kids may not even want them, BUT since it is 5 figures per person then they can get them....) When you come back the next day you may not see them again and will wind up with 5 figures only...

I bought 60 packs through TRU.com and I really hope they send me a box and not just 60 packs as I really want about 3 sets that come in the box, and spares (as again I want a set, my GF wants a set, and brother and my nephews will need to fight over the last set :-) ).
Then I would not have to worry about fighting over them in a store, or having to get there when a store opens, or being subjected to only picking 5 packs. Although I have read that some TRU's limiting to 16 so you technically have a chance to get one of each for a set.. if they let you sit at the counter and pick one of each bar code. But then you always run the chance of someone else just running up and just grabbing a bunch to buy if you are looking for a set.

The display case set probably would have been a better way to go, but then they probably would have sold out too, as people could list them on eBay for double the price.. :-(
I think the easiest way to counter the buyer/sellers would be to make a TON of them and come out saying as such.. that way these day traders... errr, eBay sellers would not make anything on them.

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 25 Aug 2010 00:29

@yellowcastle, I'm not so sure that I buy Lego being caught off guard by the demand. I mean I am pretty sure people have been buzzing about this on newsgroup sites (and this site I believe) since these were rumored in December/January... If Lego does check newsgroups, which I thought someone that is a Lego rep said they do, then I would like to think they would have said 'Whoa.. lets make some more to be sure" I mean they are 2 dollars a piece retail... I cannot imagine Lego having spend a lot to have these made.
But maybe I am just way off track on that opinion, but I would like to think that Lego is smarter than this.. then again they did stop making the 9volt train series. :-)
As you say, it seems like these appear to be more readily available than Series 1 (at least so far, I mean they are only now hitting TRUs across the US and CAN and are only popping into Lego shops now, lets see if they are gone after only 1 month like the series 1 were in the US) but I think the other thing causing massive buys is again the limited availability of Series 1 here causing people, like myself, to panic and get a bunch quickly.
Time will tell I guess :-)
Meanwhile I need to start saving up for Series 3 :-)

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 00:41

I am just happy I got 15 at the Lego store and 18 more on the way from TRU website. Hope to finish my set and give the kids the ones they want.

Posted by stevenli in United States, 25 Aug 2010 00:45

@madforlegos - From my understanding, Legos filled all demand on preorders made for Series 1 and 2. They didn't short anyone on the product. They ordered 40,000 for Legoland, and the stores got a good allotment too.

What DIDN'T happen is that the Big Retails sat out on this one. Only TRU did an order, and that was pitiful in size comparatively to others. The small retailers made out like bandits on this one. Borders reaped great benefits as did Entertainment Earth. They had to foresight to get in at ground level.

I don't blame TLG on the low series 1 stock in the US. I blame to major retailers that didn't ORDER ANY.

Series 2 obviously has higher stock #s as TRU actually had them online for a decent amount of time and more than a few buyers took up 60+ per order it seems without issue.

Series 3 will no doubt see a complete flood and regular stocking of figures IMHO as fair weather resellers exit the market and the big retailers over compensate by ordering huge amounts of stock for the Spring release.

Posted by pizzicato in United States, 25 Aug 2010 01:06

series 3 will have no bar code? So that means I will have to buy tons and open each package to find out?

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 01:31

If series 1 was 8683, and series 2 is 8684 what will series 3 be? Considering 8685 is a lego bionicle set. Has anyone noticed that or is it just me?

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 25 Aug 2010 01:56

@starfire2, maybe it will be 16 Bionicle minifigures... :-)

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 02:03

Haha that is funny!!!

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 25 Aug 2010 04:22

Regarding the advent calendars, I'm a bit old fashioned about these things and think it's a shame that there are already reviews meticulously laying the calendars bare and telling us what's behind each window ! Just for once it's nice to have a surprise and not know what I'll find until I open the window on each day of December. I might be an adult, but am not ashamed to admit that for the last couple of years I've opened a window per day just as Lego intended, and plan to do the same this year ! Each to their own, but IMHO we should keep these advent calendars 'secret' until December.....

Regarding the minifigs, I think some of the eBay sellers provide a great service. I can't spare the time to trawl through boxes of minifigs (assuming I can even find stock) trying to assemble a full set of 16. After a frustrating search for all the series 1 figs which left me with tons of duplicates (not always possible to check the barcodes before buying) and having spent double what I really needed to by the time I had the full set, I was very happy to buy the complete set of series 2 figs sealed in their bags from an enterprising eBay seller. I paid around 50% more for the privilege (i.e. it worked out at around £3 per fig rather than £2), but I ended up spending less in total because I didn't get duplicates, and it took me no time at all. So from my perspective at least, some of these sellers are providing a really useful service.

Posted by Thatlegoguy in United States, 25 Aug 2010 06:55

eBay sellers do provide a great service. The time spent hunting, and completing sets is mind boggling. I compare it to someone taking a treasure chest and scattering the treasure all over the place. There is a premium placed on the work spent getting those fine treasures back into the system.

Posted by Be-Burger in Israel, 25 Aug 2010 07:07

Does anyone know if the quality on the calendars is up to normal LEGO quality?? Or are they Chinese-quality?

Posted by brixton in Canada, 25 Aug 2010 07:09

Wal-Mart in Canada doesn't have any limits on how many figures you can buy. I'm happy with the series 1 and 2 sets that I bought. I wish series 3 had barcodes too. Some of those figures sound interesting but I think I'll limit myself to 4 figures for series 3 since I don't want duplicates.

Posted by Huw in United Kingdom, 25 Aug 2010 07:53

^^ Advent calendars, so far at least, have been normal quality.

Oh, and @bmwlego, way up the top, thanks! It's a pleasure!

altough im slow with u guys, thanks yellowcastle 4 that update. i live close to Tysons Corner

Posted by AZFIREWOLF in United States, 25 Aug 2010 08:42

When it comes to the Ebay sellers you can go on Ebay or go to bricklink. I have always found that the sellers on bricklink are nicer and easier to work with.

Posted by voypro in United States, 25 Aug 2010 08:44

Personally I thank God for ebay sellers on these figures. I want at least 3-4 sets for figures for my kids collection.

I got box of series 1 for $200 (shipping included) ebay. My TRU price = 60x$2.99 =$179.40 plus sales tax (for a total of $190.16)

If I have to pay $10 more to get them off ebay... my gas running back and forth to TRU cost me more.

Also, when some TRU's (including the website) charge $1.99 and some are charging 50% more ($2.99) I rather support some ebayer than a price gouging Giraffe.

Posted by diehardlegofan in United States, 25 Aug 2010 09:47

I wanna get all of series 2

Posted by Tervlon in United States, 25 Aug 2010 09:54

The LEGO stores are releasing them earlier than expected, they said Sept. 1 was the release date. So if you need them and you have a LEGO store nearby go get 'em. My local stores (Tysons Corner and Potomac Mills, VA) are pretty much sold out I was able to get a complete set and extras last night (thanks to my wife, who is an excellent barcode reader!). They must have sold a dozen cases at Tyson's last night, it was a bit of a mad house at some points.

It bothers me that LEGO said they'd release them at their stores on Sept 1 (or 6th) and yet is selling them a week early. People who aren't in the know are getting left behind yet again. If it wasn't for WAMALUG members I wouldn't have known.

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 10:41

i got a shipping notification from TRU for my order of 60 and it's listed as 2 line items 8 and 52. It's probably unlikely that they'll ship the display box, but I wonder if that suggests 8 packs from 1 case and 52 from another. Perhaps, it suggests 8 surfers and 52 spartans :). Oh well, can't wait to see what i get in the mail.

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 11:41

TRU is showing the minifigs as IN STOCK again.... catch is it's now $2.99.

gone

Posted by Tervlon in United States, 25 Aug 2010 12:20

HA! TRU.com had them again for $2.99 instead of $1.99? Wow, they are taking supply and demand seriously.

Posted by Sword2211 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 12:29

I just ordered a box off bricklink , I wish I could have gotten that tru 1.99 deal I got these for a much more expensive price

Posted by Sword2211 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 12:42

Is 2.25 a bad price for 1 pack?

Posted by Crt2 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 13:27

Just called my TRU. All out. :( I'll Probably be Getting a City Calendar this year Though. :D

Posted by camoran in China, 25 Aug 2010 13:30

@sword2211: price after tax and allow you to check for the barcode to identify? If say so, I will go for it :)

Posted by voypro in United States, 25 Aug 2010 13:37

Hey TRU, Why not $3.99 or if they sell too fast at that, $4.99 or if they still sell too fast $5.99....

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 25 Aug 2010 13:50

@voypro: unfortunately the ones who are buying so many of them, are indeed causing the price to go up. It is a simple case of supply and demand. They feel they will run out quickly, so they up the price to slow the sales to last longer. They know they will sell them, so why not up the price. That's the American way.

Posted by doodguy in United States, 25 Aug 2010 13:58

TRU in Pinole, CA (SF Bay Area) has them behind the customer service counter and limiting customers to 1 per visit!!!!

Posted by jth781 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 14:02

The Northpark Mall LEGO Store in Dallas TX had them instock at least as of 12 PM but they where going fast limit of 16 per person

Posted by legogirl19 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 14:14

Just received my TRU.com order of 60, unfortunately no box! It was random selection, but I was able to make 1 complete set with what I had received! Here is the breakdown of my order contents:

7--Karate Guy, Motorcycle Cop
6--Singer, Lifeguard
5--Mr. Maraca
4--Disco Stu, Witch, Weightlifter
3--Pharaoh, Vampire, Spartan, Mime
2--Ringmaster
1--Adventurer, Surfer, Skier

Hope everyone is able to complete at least one set with their orders!

Posted by brccoins in United States, 25 Aug 2010 14:18

I'm not even going to bother calling my local TRU and trying to get my 5 per week this time. Last time I just ended up with a bunch of the ones I didn't want. The whole distribution of these is a joke. I'd rather just pay the premium and get them from online sellers. It isn't worth the time and frustration to me.

Posted by ncbarrett in United States, 25 Aug 2010 14:26

@legogirl19 most of us didn't get to get an order from tru.com :P Still hoping to find a mime, surfer and skier in a store.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 25 Aug 2010 14:48

@legogirl19 - that's too bad about not getting a standard box assortment. At least you got 3 Spartans!

Posted by madforLEGO in United States, 25 Aug 2010 15:32

@legogirl19, kinda disappointing actually, you'd think they have boxes to send out. but at least you got the 1 set, and like yellowcastle said the 3 spartans is nice.
I'd imagine that in a pinch you could probably pickup a ringmaster and adventurers surfers and skiers off of eBay to complete another set or two if needed. Id also imagine those not going for a lot because the Spartans will probably be the big sought after ones, along with the DJ, witch, and the Mariachi.

After reading the above comments I can see why people are just going to eBay sellers as it may cost more but the cost of going to a store, fighting for a box, or trying to get 16 packs, or going all the way to a store and getting 1,5, or 6 is disappointing to say the least ...
I was lucky and ordered 60 bags from the TRU online but I am a little nervous after hearing legogirl19's report of getting packs and not a box. I'll see what I get I guess... hopefully not 60 adventurers.....

Posted by cara in United States, 25 Aug 2010 16:27

You can sign up at the lego shops for telephone notification of when a product comes in. They only phone you after it goes out on the shelves. So if you want series 3 (for example) sign up for that a few months in advance then if they go out early least you will find out the same day. For something that you know normally goes on the shelf on a Monday the shop normally knows what they are getting on the Friday. My one if I phone they will confirm if they are getting them for the Monday so I don't have to waste a trip on speculation. - Cara (who's still trying to find a spartan).

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 16:30

Has anybody even seen pics of series 3?

Posted by beefygrefe in United States, 25 Aug 2010 16:44

@starfire2: There haven't been any pictures yet (unless something has come up over the past week that I haven't heard about), but they have been seen in a retailer's catalog. One of the more active Eurobricks members saw the catalog and posted his recollections of what he saw...it was a week or two ago but it did make the front page Eurobricks.

Posted by 1265 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 16:45

@legogirl19 - You received yours fast. Getting 1 set out of 60....not great. However, your assortment is not so bad.

Curious for the folks who ordered at least 60 and received them or in shipping.....where is it being shipped from? My 60 is listed as one order and shipped from Columbus, OH.

Posted by lovelyuba in United States, 25 Aug 2010 17:21

I read a lot of comments here. Looks like a lot of people looking for a Spartan. I need one too. I also read comments in Uk section. Somebody searched the whole box of minifigs and found 3 spartans... Does it mean that there are only 3 complete sets and the rest is random? So if 3 people came in and bought the whole set, you can only find everything else but not Spartan... or am I wrong?
Then its easier to buy from ebay, at least I know its there... Just don't want to pay $15!

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 25 Aug 2010 17:27

@lovelyyuba - yup. Just 3 Spartans per box. So if the box has been picked through, you're not likely to stumble upon a Spartan. I luckily was able to find one last night between the 2 mostly full boxes at the counter.

Thank you yellowcastle! We are talking about the same store you and I went to. I went this morning and was the 1st one in the store with my kids looking for this Spartan and we didn't find it. I wasn't surprised. Just thinking right now that if I go there every time when I find time they are most likely not going to have this minifigure. And thats a lot of effort to find just 1 ...

Posted by skyscraper in United States, 25 Aug 2010 18:26

just picked up some from a washington TRU :) got a spartan ! no rush for them there maybe it was cause they didn't put them out in the morning so all the early birds missed em :)
yes they are all 2.99 now :( I think popularity might go down a bit, or at least to casual shoppers

but guess what everybody now that their 3$, buy em cheap from bricklink >:) 2.50 + ! I guess thats the only up side :P

Posted by crazyawesomeyeah in United States, 25 Aug 2010 18:35

darn it. the spartan is a rare. i was hoping it wasn't

Posted by captainsamus in United States, 25 Aug 2010 18:55

The minifigs were up for nearly 9 hours at least, because I ordered mine at around 11:40 AM EST and they didn't go oos until nearly 9:00 PM EST.

Anyway, should have mine tomorrow as well. I live an hour from Columbus, and it sucks having to wait 3 days for them to travel 60-70 miles, though.

Also, here is the policy on returning TRU.com orders to the actual store...looks like you should be able to return whichever figs you don't want, but you'll only get store credit, not an actual refund.

"Items purchased at Toysrus.com or Babiesrus.com may be returned directly to Toysrus.com/Babiesrus.com or at your local Toys"R"Us or Babies"R"Us store except where the packing slip states, "Not returnable in stores." Please note the following policies regarding returns to Toys"R"Us or Babies"R"Us stores:
Refunds on items returned to Toys"R"Us or Babies"R"Us stores will be given in the form of merchandise credit only; and
Returns to Toys"R"Us or Babies"R"Us stores will otherwise be subject to the applicable store return policy. "

Looks like I was lucky to get the Spartan (and the complete set). I didn't realize these (the Spartans) were rare. Does anybody know if the cheerleader from series 1 is rare? I searched multiple locations for that minifigure when series 1 was in stores and couldn't find it. ToysToysToys and Urban Outfitters had series one in stock a couple of weeks ago for $6 and $10 per pack but I didn't bother trying to find the cheerleader because the mark up is ridiculous.

Posted by camoran in China, 25 Aug 2010 20:09

Went to LEGO store at Santa Clara on Monday and yesterday. Only found 2 Spartans one for myself and one for my gf. I don't collect the whole series but I still took the vampire, surfer, witch and Pharaoh. Also I got several Amigos. I may try to group a Mexican music band :D

Posted by camoran in China, 25 Aug 2010 20:27

@brixton: I didn't realize the cheerleader was rare, at the very beginning. I remembered I still could find 2-3 out of about 30 packs in LEGO store during the first week series 1 released. I totally agree with the ridiculous mark up you were talking about. Although I am not a set collector on both series, I still had a hard time to find the Clown. Finally I have to ask my cousin in Asia helping to keep one for me in regular retail price, other than bidding it on ebay. My cousin told me the demand of the collective minifigures in his country was not as crazy as in the US. Does anyone know how LEGO will depend the quota per each country?

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, 25 Aug 2010 21:05

It's a bit funny to read comments on here about the figures selling out everywhere already. Where I live (Pennsylvania), the figures haven't arrived yet. Tuesdays were typical shipment dates for TRU stores here, and as of this Tuesday, still nothing. I hope PA will get some next week, otherwise, I'll be annoyed if the state never receives any shipments prior to Series 2 selling out completely in North America. The only Lego Store in the state also tends to get new items in at least a week later than other official Lego stores across the country.

Posted by j013 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 21:08

@camoran: the cheerleader is rare i got 12 minifigs from series 1 and 3 were cheerleaders. infact about half the box my toys r us got was cheerleaders! maybe thats were they all went.

Posted by TexasLegoman in United States, 25 Aug 2010 21:11

First time posting here so hello to all. Love this site. OK, I went to a store yesterday and they told me they had just gotten the mini figures in. I ran over and could not believe it, they where series 1, I bought over 30 of them, 2 I had never found and all the cheerleaders. They should have more as was 2 full boxes, the store is in Houston Texas near the willow brook mall. It is call USA toys, they also had a lot of older sets that I have not seen in like 1 year, the agents, sponge bob, the troll castle, Indiana Jones, all look like to me normal prices. I just came from the TRU in sugar land Texas, they got 2 boxes in, I just bought 2 complete sets and all the Spartans, Mexican, and pharaoh, there are charging $2.99 each. I grabbed 1 of the boxes and they let me have that. I called the Lego store in the galleria last week and was told they would have the minis Monday. When I got there they changed it to September 1st. 5 limit and they think the line is going to start at 9:30 maybe sooner as they have had 100's asking. They open at 10am. The store in sugar land manager told me another truck is coming in Saturday so they should get more in. Well hope this long message helps someone get these hard to find items.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 21:14

Here in Phoenix AZ our local TRU's have not received them yet, however our local Lego store has. That is unusual because or local TRU's seem to get all of their Lego stuff 3 weeks before the Lego store does.

Posted by pitfall69 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 21:31

I'm getting some at my local TRU tomorrow. The manager said only 30 figures are coming in which I thought was odd.

Posted by voypro in United States, 25 Aug 2010 21:33

RE: duplicates, If I could get any figs for $1.99 +tax will gladly take anyones duplicates... in the package of course. I am sure others would as well.

So Please don't take em back to the store.

Posted by Brick114 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 21:33

does the lego store in tysons still have some? i still havent bought any, i found series 1 totally by accident

Posted by 1265 in United States, 25 Aug 2010 21:37

I would classify the Cheerleader and the Spartan as "high demand" vice "rare." Therefore, they demand more of a premium price on the secondary market and are most collectable for there uniqueness.

@jo13 - Not buying "half the box....was cheerleaders." Would of been nice. Maybe a toysrus employee pulled all the cheerleaders out of the boxes the store got and someone else mistakenly put that box out for the customers. HaHa!

Posted by voypro in United States, 25 Aug 2010 22:34

@1265 - EXACTLY! Anything that make someone want several of the same figure (visions of building a cheerleading squad, or garrison of Spartans, group of ninjas ), increases the popularity, and the secondary market price.

When you see series 6 or so you could see another factor. Personally, I see all of the Monsters soon being worth a bit more (Zombie, Vampire, Witch) I am going to guess that future series will see other monster types (werewolf, Mrs Frankenstein, mummy) I would call something like that a sub set of the Lego Minifigs. That would be an element that could increase demand to the person that start collecting in say series 5-6 and goes back and picks up a select few he might want.

Production will increase to better meet demand. That may be TLG producing these at 3 times as many. This is why I don't think brick and mortar retailers are doing themselves any favors by price gouging.... because guess what TRU, when TLG sees your selling them for $2.99, instead of the SRP of $1.99.... your $1 wholesale price just went from $1 to $1.50.

Posted by lovelyuba in United States, 25 Aug 2010 22:37

Brick114 - My husband went to Tysons Lego store in the evening and they didn't have any. They told him try September 1st. where did you find series 1?

Posted by MisterB in United States, 25 Aug 2010 23:51

Concord, Nc Lego Store had them on Monday and limited people to 16 packs and i went by again on wed afternoon and they had already sold out of their entire stock and they dont expect anymore until monday or possibly the week after.

Posted by atmail35 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 01:00

I have to say that it seems like the Lego Stores listened to customer complaints about the 5 limit on Series 1. A 16 limit makes a lot more sense.

I feel lucky that I have a few Lego stores nearby, it's frustrating that TRU/Borders and others are selling over the MSRP of $1.99. Greedy I guess. I think that it is lousy for those who don't have access to the Lego store.

Anyway this series seemed anticlimatic since I was able to get 14 of the 16 in one batch and the other two the next day. Sort of takes the fun out of it, LOL! But I do appreciate that I don't have to go to the Mall 4-5 times to buy only 5 at a time. Less stress.

Posted by GV357 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 01:33

is it me or do these feel way cheaper than series 1??

Posted by AZFIREWOLF in United States, 26 Aug 2010 08:42

I posted this in another feed. Thought it would be a good idea to post it here.

The nice thing about TLG is that they are currently not limiting the number of minifigures that you can buy. I bought 16 today and was shocked when I was told that I could get 16. Which translates to almost getting all of them. I missed one. Now I have to search for one. Oh well. Either way 16 is better than 5.

Way to go TLG.

Picked up my toysrus.com order from the post office this morning, and found some good news and some bad news.
The good new is that the sent me the display box! At first I thought it was still sealed, but it wasnt, it had been opened and the bags were all in a dissaray inside. This leads to the bad news...they only sent me 55 packs when I ordered 60. Looks like I'm going to have to email them so they can refund me the 10 dollars.

Haven't gotten a chance to see what the distrubition is as I had to go to work, but hopefully I get at least one full set.

Posted by LEGOCollector2504 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 13:59

I joined this site today after many years of being a visitor. Let me start by thanking Huw for starting this amazing website. On the topic of the minifigures, I found a display box at the Madison, WI TRU today. I snatched twelve of the figs (with the help of the excellent barcode sheet). I received all but the Spartan, Pop Star, Lifeguard, and Jungle Explorer. Feeling the packets is also most effective on this series. The Witch and Mr. Maracas are very easy to find.

Posted by captainsamus in United States, 26 Aug 2010 14:14

So it looks like my box WOULD have been a complete box if they hadn't forgotten to give me the five. My box was a standard distribution as per the Eurobricks review, except I'm missing 3 vampires, 1 DJ/Disco Dude, and 1 Pop Singer.

I'm guessing they took a sealed box and opened it to verify it contained 60 figs, and then either forgot to put 5 back in, or 5 spilled out in between that point and shipping it.

Posted by Yankeesboy08 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 15:09

YES!!!!I just guaranteed myself a Spartan pharaoh and a karate master:) even though I don't have them yet:( I will have them by Tuesday or Wednesday:):):):)

Posted by 1265 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 15:37

@captainsamus - The five that were missing most likely occurred because an employee removed 5 of them to fullfill another order and than someone else mistakenly sent the box thinking it was a full box.

You call to get the missing 5 or request a refund for the 5?

My 60 is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.....so we'll see how I fair.

Posted by BoobyToy in United States, 26 Aug 2010 15:39

Posted by 1265 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 15:43

@BoobyToy - Good for you!!! For being a sealed box......how do you tell, i.e., tape, perforated, etc.?

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 16:08

Still no series 2 minis at my local TRU in Phoenix. Has anyone who lives in AZ seen them in any place other than the Lego store in Chandler?
Also, I put my order in on TRU.com the same day as everyone else, but have not received them yet. Guess I live way farther west than anyone else here.

Posted by mitchellbike58 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 16:19

I also purchased 60 from TRU.com when they still had them in stock. Out for delivery today, I'll update with the mix that I received once they arrive!

Posted by BRICKDAD in United States, 26 Aug 2010 16:36

I just bought a complete box of 60 from bricklink.com for $135.00 US shipped! That's $2.25 each!

We should all stop supporting TRU and others who decide to jack up the prices. Just type in "minifigure series 2" on bricklink. The store belonging to "Toms Brickstore" is who I bought from. Plus this way you are guaranteed to get 3 sets. You must buy at least 1 box to get them. You cannot buy less than 1 box of 60.

I am tired of calling TRU weekly and the employees saying "uhhhhh I don't know".

Posted by nandel in United States, 26 Aug 2010 17:13

I ordered mine from TRU.com, and it looked liked would be here before the end of the week, but the UPS tracking info says it hasn't even left the Ohio Distribution Center. So... I have no idea when they will come or why it hasn't been shipped. Is anyone else's oder been delayed like this?

Posted by pizzicato in United States, 26 Aug 2010 17:23

I thought I would get my delivery today from UPS, but instead I see on the tracking info - "TENDERED TO LOCAL POST OFFICE". What?! Now I have to wait for another 1-2 days for the post office to sort it and deliver to me. I guess that's what you get from TRU's free delivery!

Posted by erol312006 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 17:27

The TRU in MESA AZ has them but are only letting you buy 5 each person....

Posted by erol312006 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 17:28

Your better off getting it on bricklink ---

Posted by erol312006 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 17:32

5 each person is kinda stupid atleast let a person buy 16 for one set....
and yes you can only grab bag them she said..... whatever she gives you thats it...no picking and matching she said....no returns ....
man that lady was very rude to that one person buying them
i saw this while i was on line for something else since i already have these

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 17:32

My order still says it is at the distribution center. It has said that since tuesday. I should have paid for express delivery.
@erol312006 thanks but that is way too far for me. I think I will just wait for my order. If I don't get what I am missing I think I might sell my extras and buy the ones I need.

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 17:52

Just grabbed some spares at TRU (Minnetonka, MN). They hadn't changed their tags yet so, even though they rang up at the new $2.99 price, I was able to get them for $1.99!

Also, the Lego store at MOA will be getting more on Sept. 1st.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 18:00

It must be getting closer to Christmas, TRU has begun the price gouging!!! ;) Glad I bought my stuff before the markups!!!

Posted by tylox15 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 18:32

Logo store had a new box out, limit 5 per person per day. I got got 10 of them for $1.99 price (2 of us). They also had both Advent calendars. TRU had out a partial box for the $2.99 price got the remainder needed for the set EXCEPT the Mexican. Love the Spartan!

Posted by minifigleaf in United States, 26 Aug 2010 19:09

Good grief! This must be last area in the country to get them. I have 5 TRU's near me and none of them have gotten the series 2. And the one Lego store within reasonable driving distance has got them but refuses to put them out until next week! I was hoping to have them in time for my son's birthday on Monday, but no deal. Sigh. Never thought I'd be jealous of Texas!

Posted by pizzicato in United States, 26 Aug 2010 19:09

just check the link on TRU website again and now the price is $2.99!! I have a feeling the stores near me will be charging $2.99.

Posted by wildcherryp3psi in United States, 26 Aug 2010 19:44

@ erol312006, I'm sorry you also have had a bad experience at the Mesa TRU, they always seem either rude, unhelpful or have no knowledge of the products they stock or are to be stocked in their store.

Posted by Legosmama in United States, 26 Aug 2010 20:11

I had ordered 75 at the $1.99 price, mainly because I was seeing if they actually would ship that many. They did ship all (except 4 were missing and they credited me the difference plus shipping since they are sold out). They were not in a box, but there was 3 complete sets, which is perfect since I have three boys, and then extras of almost all of them. We were at our lego store today, bought both advent calendars, and they said their limit would be 16 for the minifigures. My children will be very happy!!

@ minileaf Happy b-day to your son. My son turns 16 on monday a well.

Starfire2, Happy B-day right back at your son! Mine will be 10. He practically only wants Lego for presents and is already getting several nice sets from us, but he's really looking forward to the minis. Me too for that matter, but I'm getting tired of stopping at TRU everyday since last week to check on the them (the staff is starting to look at me funny). Ah well, I still have one unopened zombie in my personal stash that I could give him to tie him over I suppose. He never got one of those.

Posted by crazyawesomeyeah in United States, 26 Aug 2010 22:18

i've checked my Toysrus near me, and they say they don't have any. they're getting a truck tomorrow, and she said that it was "No guarantee." oh well.

Posted by 1265 in United States, 26 Aug 2010 22:37

Good for thoughs who are doing what they can to find the minifigures....however, I find the time, energy, gas, and/or sanity outweighs the effort put forth. I've given up on the searching and/or arranging my schedule to secure these little guys......much rather pay a higher premium to keep me real.

Posted by grendelscott in United States, 27 Aug 2010 00:06

Checked the PV TRU today (for those AZ hunters that are interested). No minifigs, but they had the City Advent. Needed to you use my reward coupon by this weekend, so I figured I would stop in. My shipment of 60 will hopefully arrive tomorrow.

Besides the minifigures and the advent calendars. I thought I would let everyone know that the Costco set of the year is the Fire Helicopter #7206. The price is a costco price of $29.99. A $10 or so savings.

Ok All
I have gotten my Packs from TRU (60 packs purchased) and like others TRU shipped via UPS to the USPS, so I had to wait one whole extra day.. not really a big deal (sorry if I offend anyone, but I would say be lucky you got them before complaining about having to wait an extra day)
So the count was this:
Pharaoh 3
Pop singer 3
Vampire 4
Spartan 3
Disco king 3
Ringmaster 5
Lifeguard 4
Adventurer 3
Karate Master 5
Surfer 3
Witch 4
Mime 4
Motorcycle Cop 5
Mariachi 4
Skier 3
Weightlifter 4
(Did not get a Minifig box though, only shipped in a shipping box)
Kinda funny that an adventurer of all seems to be a rare, same with the Skier, surfer, etc (I can understand the Spartan).... I guess it is nice that they have more Witches and Mariachi in boxes (probably because it is easily to feel out the Witch and Mariachi.. especially the witch, those packs seem to be huge.
My friend got the same exact count from their 60 packs so I am guessing this is the count from a box (or close to it).
It stinks that people are having bad experiences getting these.. and this really does not bode well for a series 3 release to be honest... Especially since there will be no bar codes. Although I find it difficult for them to have rarity and not have some kind of way to determine via the packaging what is in what for box counts as I sincerely doubt that you will find a box with nothing but rares.

As for the Advent calendars I am going up to the Lego store on Saturday. I hope they still have the Castle ones.(They can keep the overpriced City ones)

Posted by legokenny in United States, 27 Aug 2010 01:45

I was able to get some minifigs from the Lego store in Colorado today.
I had to wait till after work so i didn't get there till about 7:00 and I got all but 5.

Here is what I am missing:
Pop singer
Lifeguard
Karate Master
Mime
Weightlifter

but I got 2 extra vampires (one by mistake)
one extra Mariachi, Adventurer, and Disco king
if anyone wants to trade let me know.
last time I called 3 of the TRU in my area they did not have any, that was wednesday, Ill call again friday when they get another truck.

I was also able to pick up a castle advent calendar! Very nice, and they seem to have maybe 7 left. and there were only a few minifigs left, the ones I remember putting back were Motorcycle Cop, Mariachi and Ringmaster.

Alright gang, got my order of 60 from TRU.com in the mail today as well. They came in an opened box, and I am pretty pleased with the variety. Was able to make 3 complete sets with them. The count was as follows:
Pharaoh3
Pop Singer 3
Vampire 4
Spartan 3
Disco King 3
Ringmaster 5
Lifeguard 4
Adventurer3
Karate Master 5
Surfer 3
Witch 4
Mime 4
Motorcycle Cop 5
Mexican 4
Skier 3
Weightlifter 4

Good luck everyone!

@Majinkhaos - You are very welcome! I just can't figure out why others are still obsessing over TRU when I just told them how to buy them for less. Plus get it in the original box.

BTW They shipped mine in less than 24 hours after placing the order! $2.25 each! Come on my fellow Lego friends!

@Brickdad I assume you got yours off bricklink (I got mine from Tom's brickstore)

Posted by BRICKDAD in United States, 27 Aug 2010 13:41

@Sword2211 - Yes, I did get mine from Bricklink. Tom's brickstore too! Glad to hear you were able to get a great deal too!

Posted by chantastic in N/A, 27 Aug 2010 13:43

@BRICKDAD Yeah, I bought from Tom in Germany as well after I saw your post. The USD is pretty strong vs. the Euro now so the exchange rates work out in our favor. After California sales tax, the same box would have been $132 (assuming the store doesn't mark it up and assuming I'm even able to *find* a box). So it only cost me $3 more (less than the price of a gallon of gas) and I don't have to drive to my local TRU every morning anymore.

Posted by BRICKDAD in United States, 27 Aug 2010 13:56

@chantastic - I am so glad that so many others are benefiting from this. After all most of us buy these to collect. Not to profit or gouge prices like TRU. I bought a case of 60 because I have 2 sons and a the 3rd set will be for my friends son. They will be so happy.

I agree with you about the whole driving to TRU all the time to find out if they have them. I call them on Tues and Friday when they recieve trucks. They never know what I am talking about and they never have them. But, they know they will be jacking the price up.

Posted by l44l44 in United States, 27 Aug 2010 14:11

@everyone who bought minifig box on BL - I was thinking about ordering from Toms Brickstore as well, but was just curious how one person got their hands on scores of boxes of these, and why they might be selling them dirt cheap. Thanks

Posted by minifigleaf in United States, 27 Aug 2010 14:15

Tom just put them all on sale, so they are even less now. I'll admit that I enjoy the "hunt" as it provides some distraction from other life issues right now, but I've been getting sick thinking about how much gas I've burned the past week.

Posted by BRICKDAD in United States, 27 Aug 2010 14:27

@l44l44 He is probably some kind of Lego distributor in Germany. He has thousands in stock. So he probably buys them very cheap. If you are worried about it, don't be. Paypal will protect you if something goes wrong. Plus this guy has over 1400 feedback. They are $.12 less per figure now than what I paid! Great deal!

@ minifigleaf I love the hunt too! But it was getting ridiculous!

Posted by chantastic in N/A, 27 Aug 2010 15:42

To add to Brickdad's comment, Tom is also probably getting an influx of business from brickset readers, so he probably decided to lower his profit margin because he's getting so much volume now.

But NO!!!!....it's NOW $3.49 each at TRU!!!!!! I guess with all these phone calls inquiring about it, they know it's super HOT item.

Posted by beefygrefe in United States, 27 Aug 2010 16:55

pizzicato: some of the price changes might just be the differences between regions in the US. Companies like to tweak the price from state to state...plus I hate to think that we're going to see much more of a jump in cost on these

Skier x 1
Maraca Man x 3!
Vampire x 5
Singer x 3
Traffic Cop x 2
Ring Leader x 3
Disco Dude x 2
Trojan x 1 =(
Surfer x 1
Karate Kid x 1

Missing the Witch, Adventurer, Life Guard, Weight lifter, and Mime.

I have some LEGO VIP points saved up, so I'll probably finish my collection and add a few trojans if I can in the next few days.

Received mine today, too.

I only ordered 12 and got:
Karate Kid x 4
Ringmaster x 3
Weightlifter x 2
Witch x 1
Mr. Mariachi x 1
Disco King x 1

I wasn't trying for the complete set, but am still hoping to collect the Surfer, Mime, and Skier.

@xena6296 I am not in CA, but very close by. I am in Phoenix AZ and still waiting for mine. I hope they come soon. Getting a little jealous of all the people who have theirs.

Posted by xena6296 in United States, 27 Aug 2010 18:19

@starfire2 Thank you for the info, it seem that I have to wait additional 2 more days after you got your shipment. The UPS tracking report show they are crossing one State each day, long.... wait!

Posted by jwsmart in United States, 27 Aug 2010 18:49

Got my order of 64 from TRU.com today. No display box - but I got the correct quantity.

3 - Pharaoh
4 - Vampire
3 - Spartan
1 - Disco Stu
2 - Pop Star
7 - Ringmaster
4 - Lifeguard
3 - Adventurer
3 - Karate Master
2 - Surfer
7 - Witch
7 - Mime
5 - Motorcycle Cop
4 - Mexican
6 - Skier
6 - Weightlifter

Now I've got to go hunting to complete sets for two nieces and a nephew.
Have these popped up on any of the northeastern TRU's yet?
I've been calling 3 TRU's on Long Island every couple of days. No Luck.

Posted by 1265 in United States, 27 Aug 2010 19:19

UPS just dropped off my package. Yeah!!! I ordered 60 and received a sealed display box. Box arrived perfect....thanks to UPS. I hate receiving things through USPS. I'm happy....now I can sleep without worries.

What's the record for the most commented post? I'd like to know if this broke a record...

I saw both the advent calender and minifigs at my TRU today. The minifigs were mostly gone, with about 15 left.

The price: USD $2.99. (Resulting in me only buying two: the Explorer, and 70s rock star guy). Should be $1.99...

Anyway, the answer to ebay sellers, kids, AFOLS, etc. is to just make more... at this point, it seems like LEGO should know to make TONS more. At least for series 3.

Posted by GameOn99 in United States, 27 Aug 2010 20:09

I saw box after box in the Orlando / Kissimmee Florida Lego store at downtown Disney, the limit is up to 16 per person, but they let you have more then one purchase to get around this. I have two of each one now and am going to go back for more maybe.

I cannot believe some of the people there though, I was sorting them out on a display obviously studying and pouring over them for at least half an hour, and at least 8 people, most of whom where ADULTS, came up and started stealing from the box my friend the manager gave me to sort through when there is 5 time as many RIGHT NEXT TO ME, and worse still, people were yanking them from my piles laid out in front of me, what the French toast? They were even taking from the box and mixing up the done/unchecked piles so I could not use box statistics to confirm what I had. I ended up having to sort through the box on the shelf which was 5 times worse. It was a nightmare, but for some reason, just seeing them and sorting them gave me adrenaline I never feel, it was crazy, and I loved it. and what do I find at the checkout, an untouched display box tucked away in a corner on a low, out of the way counter area they never use (literally) that was super wide open, I flipped that I did not do my sorting there, hahahahaha, but yeah, Orlando / Kissimmee downtown Disney, now carrying. And they kept bringing boxes from the back and refilling the tray, so there was QUITE a healthy supply, not one box like toys-r-us, which still does not have them.

I even got some other people that I met when I found series one there sorting after me, we helped each other out and gave the secret to some others and got them sorting to, it was cool with the workers, I got connections ;) but I did not have the cheat sheet so I gad to go on barcodes alone and not get any spares and purposeful duplicates, lame.

I even got to keep the box afterwards =)

@xena6296 Mine says it is at mail innovations in Rancho Cucamunga CA (sp?) as of Aug. 25th. It went from Ohio to CA, just to backtrack to AZ. God I hate TRU shipping. If I had known they were going to send my package this way, I would have paid the extra for 2 day shipping.!!!!! (pulling my hair out!!!)

Posted by 1265 in United States, 27 Aug 2010 20:31

@ GameOn99

That's why I buy wholesale and/or pay a premium to avoid the chaos. My time/energy tracking down the little ones are not worth it.

Posted by grendelscott in United States, 27 Aug 2010 23:02

Well, mine arrived in AZ at least, as of 1 PM today. Maybe I'll get lucky and get them tomorrow. *crosses fingers*

@grendelscott where in AZ are you? I am in Phoenix.

Posted by i like guitars in United States, 27 Aug 2010 23:51

Anyone in southern california see these in stores yet??

Posted by minifigleaf in United States, 28 Aug 2010 00:11

guitars, they appeared (finally) at one of the TRU's near me in LA today (Friday), but they jacked up the price to $2.99 and limited it to five only. This is up from $2.49 and unlimited purchases at this store for series 1. Ah well, at least my kid will get a couple on his B-day. I didn't check any of the other TRU's in my area though. I hear that the Lego store in Ontario apparently put them out this week, and the Glendale Lego store has them but won't put them out until next week according to the staff. Manager's discretion.

@starfire2 I'm in Scottsdale.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 28 Aug 2010 02:53

@grendelscott ok maybe when we each get our mini's, if we get duplicates of ones we don't need/want we can set up a trade?!

Posted by i like guitars in United States, 28 Aug 2010 19:14

alright just got my order of 20 and it broke down like this from ToysRUs.com

1 mexican
2 weight lifters
2 skiers
1 dj
1 surfer
2 spartans
4 ringmasters
3 witches
4 lifeguards

kinda annoyed about the 4 lifeguards, but happy about the 2 spartans

Does anyone know when Lego S@H will supply the packs?

Posted by jwsmart in United States, 28 Aug 2010 20:17

OK, just got back from a long day of shopping, then an equally long time of counting and re-counting.

The TRU store in Lake Grove, NY has Minifigures in stock - when I got there, there were only 2 boxes on the shelf (both open). When I had called earlier in the day, they said they had gotten 24 boxes that morning. My guess is they're not putting all of their stock out immediately. The price was $2.99, there was no limit.

So, if you live in the Northeastern US, check your TRU's.

I also hauled it out to the Garden City Lego Store. They still had a respectable number on the shelf. $1.99, limit 16 as expected.

Posted by Duraz in United States, 28 Aug 2010 20:38

I went to the WA lego store yesterday and they said that they would get the minifigs Tuesday.

Posted by cara in United States, 28 Aug 2010 20:59

Lego S@H should just wise up for the next series and sell complete boxes. Especially since series 3 won't have barcodes so I figure that is the way I have to go to guarantee a set.

Posted by shoobathelemur in United States, 28 Aug 2010 21:29

Just finished raiding 3 TRU in Clearwater, St. Pete, and Wesley Chapel, FL. Was pretty excited to find a total of 81 minis. I even got a series 1 fig that had been hidden behind one of the shelf displays. However, I only managed to find one complete set due to only a single spartan. Gonna unload the rest on ebay. Not really so much for profit but I have no use for the others. I just wanted a whole set.

One TRU employee said a man spent nearly 3 hours feeling the bags trying to get 16 different ones. Wow....

Posted by voypro in United States, 28 Aug 2010 22:26

Spartan, Spartan, Spartan! Lego... get a clue, time for a Gladiator themed line.

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 29 Aug 2010 01:24

The Elmhurst, Queens Center Mall LEGO Store has Series II mini-figs already on the shelf. No limit. Snagged a bunch today. Looks like about 30 more packs were still there around noon Saturday. Got 2 Spartans...Now just 298 more to go for my 'Battle of Thermopylae' MOC...;)

Posted by miniman30 in United Kingdom, 29 Aug 2010 10:38

Woo, Legoland Windsor sell them (LOTS of them) I have about 10 now :D

Posted by pitfall69 in United States, 29 Aug 2010 11:50

Here's a question. Since the US barcodes are different than the European barcodes will either package variant be worth more than the other?

Posted by Toyz4me in United States, 29 Aug 2010 15:30

Found 1/2 box of mini-figs 2 laying around at local Brooklyn NY TRU...found out why when the price rang at $3.49 a pack + 8.875% tax...OUCH!! Only picked up a few packs (((

Posted by legoDad42 in United States, 29 Aug 2010 16:23

@Toys4me...check out the LEGO Store at the Queens Center Mall. They had a bunch of Series II on the shelf early yesterday for the regular retail ($2.00/fig). Call them up to see if they still have more so you don't have to be gouged by TRU's prices.

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, 29 Aug 2010 18:07

Pennsylvania is still lacking in Series 2 minifigures but we now have the City Advent Calender. I didn't buy it as I'm waiting for the Castle Advent Calender to arrive. I don't know about the only Lego Store in the state, though. Perhaps they finally received the minifigures.

Posted by Zacherano in United States, 29 Aug 2010 18:40

I am so excited about these coming out! I called two local toy stores who stocked the Series 1 figures several weeks ago, and I have not received any calls back yet. I'm confident that they will get them in though, it seems like they have not yet appeared everywhere in the U.S.

Posted by Toyz4me in United States, 29 Aug 2010 21:22

@legodad42 - Thanks so much for the info. Will definitely give it a look when I find the time. Work still trumps Lego )) LOL!!

Posted by bigmike2k3 in United States, 29 Aug 2010 21:25

I ordered 20 from TRU and here is what I got:

1 - Pharaoh
3 - Lifeguards
2 - Mimes
1- Pop Star
2 - Mr. Maracas
1 - Surfer
1 - Cop
3 - Ringmasters
1 - Weightlifter
1 -Skier
1 - Disco Guy
1 - Adventurer
2 - Witches

I happy with the overall mix, but I was hoping that I would get a Spartan, if only to avoid having to find one/buy one at a huge mark-up...

Posted by quaffapint in United States, 30 Aug 2010 10:40

Called the King of Prussia, PA Lego store and they said they got nothing in their shipment today and that the actual release was not till Sept, so to check back then. Odd - since they got some last Monday.

I was kinda disappointed with our TRU online order of 20 - so may triples of things.

Posted by bmwlego in United States, 30 Aug 2010 11:43

TRU Massapequa NY had them in yesterday! Helped an employee from another TRU complete a set with the barcode decoder that was linked to from Brickset from Dew's flickr stream. Thanks Dew and Brickset!!! Chris, if you read this contact me so I can get you into our LUG!

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 30 Aug 2010 13:15

I think all boxes are packed the same way. And if so, you can find 2 of the Spartans in the right side and the last 1 in the middle section. I'm up to 4 now so, as noted by someone else earlier, I'm just 296 short. :o)

Posted by crazyawesomeyeah in United States, 30 Aug 2010 15:58

thanks yellowcastle! oh, and btw yellowcastle, are there anymore minifigures at Tyson's Corner anymore?
you don't have to go there and tell me. if you do, that's great!

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 30 Aug 2010 16:14

Ok I got my order of 18 today. I know you see 18 and say "that's a weird number?!" But I thought my odds were no different if I ordered 18 or 80. So here is my breakdown:
Mime x 1
Spartan x 1
Lifeguard x 2
Witch x 2
Vampire x1
Surfer x 3
Karate guy x 4
Ringmaster x 2
Skier x 1
Mariachi guy x 1
So I got what I wanted. I would still like another mime for my son so if you live in the Phoenix AZ area maybe we can set up a trade. I have a lifeguard, surfer, karate guy(s), ringmaster(s), and skier to trade.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 30 Aug 2010 16:17

PS I am also interested in some series one characters. I can trade for a tribal hunter, cave man, or nurse.

Posted by yellowcastle in United States, 30 Aug 2010 16:36

@crazyawesomeyeah - It's my understanding that Tysons did indeed run out of stock later that very same night. But I believe most LEGO Stores will be getting new stock just in time for the September 1st release date. I'd also expect them to show up as available on LEGOShop.com in the next 48 hours or so. I'm curious if the limit online will also be boosted to 16 minifigures.

Posted by legogirl19 in United States, 30 Aug 2010 17:59

@ yellowcastle, I can confirm the Spartan placement in the box, as that is the very same locations that I found them as well. I specifically remember this as those were the only ones I purchased out of a brand new box @ TRU for 2.99 each!

As for the withholding of the minifigs until Sept. 1st, I am witness to this as well!

The Lego store near me had a bunch of them last week! I went in on Sunday to see if they had put out more, and the entire display had been taken down! I asked the employee about it and he said that they were holding the rest until "the Sept. 1st release date", which is what I had originally been told as well as all other customers! It's definitely going to be a crazy day @ the Lego store on the 1st! All I have to say is I'm glad I have my sets already!

I wish the best of luck to the rest of you that are still "hunting"!!!

Posted by tomahawker in United States, 30 Aug 2010 18:35

My box of 60 arrived from TRU.com on Friday. It was a complete box, and I just finished cataloging it. Here's what I found in each row of 20 bags:

Left Middle Right
1 (Pharaoh) 0 2 1
2 (Vampire) 0 4 0
3 (Spartan) 0 0 3
4 (Disco Stu) 3 0 0
5 (Pop Star) 0 3 0
6 (Ringmaster) 0 3 2
7 (Lifeguard) 0 0 4
8 (Adventurer) 2 0 1
9 (Karate Master) 1 3 1
10 (Surfer) 0 2 1
11 (Witch) 0 0 4
12 (Mime) 4 0 0
13 (Motorcycle Cop) 4 1 0
14 (Mr. Maracas) 2 2 0
15 (Downhill Skier) 0 0 3
16 (Weightlifter) 4 0 0

It looks like my totals for each minifig are consistent with other complete boxes. Hopefully this info is helpful if you are searching in a box at a store.

i have 15 minifigs all but the Vampire!I ordering it and the forestman(i lost the forestmans feather somehow so im getting it off of Bricklink and giving the rest of the figure to my friend) so I have all of series 1 and 2 .

Have an extra Mime and Motor Cop if anyone wants to trade

@ pitfall69

"Here's a question. Since the US barcodes are different than the European barcodes will either package variant be worth more than the other?"

I would say no. I would however think the likelihood of a collector wanting all of the USA or European barcodes in his set to be one type or the other is higher.

I use to sell vintage star wars figures and I saw the preference that you speak of on packaging. Here is the difference. Visually the SW figs had either USA packaging or "Tri-Logo" packaging (I think french, spanish and Portuguese?) The front of the Tri-Logo was aweful and all lettering, put simply the USA packaging "looked" less busy and was preferred. (Except for a few figures and figure variations that were ONLY release in tri-Logo packaging)

I have both European and USA lego minifigs, other than the barcodes there is no difference in packaging. Ultimately, here maybe a slight preference for the USA packs, but only slight.

Remember next series have NO barcodes, so people will be collecting them out of the packages.

TRU at Dunlop, in Phoenix, AZ has them(as of 10am Tuesday) in but are limiting to 2 per person.

I managed to buy:
1x Spartan
1x Vampire

I also exchanged two duplicates(nice cashier) with receipt from when the TRU on Bell had them for 1 day on Saturday for:

1x Surfer
1x Mr. Maracas

This is mainly to help my fellow Arizonan's that have posted here to track these elusive figures down.

P.S.
Called TRU Bell Ave and also TRU Tatum Blvd. and they have no stock.

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 31 Aug 2010 15:01

I live near the Dunlap TRU and am glad I bought mine online from TRU.com. I didn't know they would do that. Maybe they had so many people ask about them that they decided to limit them. What are they selling them for? Also spaceghostpirate I have extra figures, so if you want to you can contact me. I would be willing to sell them for $2.00 each (that's what they cost me on TRU.com minus shipping).

Posted by legogirl19 in United States, 31 Aug 2010 15:35

I have just noticed that Series 2 is now officially on the Lego site :
http://shop.lego.com/Product/?p=8684

There are also games, bios, movies and downloads :
http://minifigures.lego.com/en-us/Default.aspx

So exciting!! Maybe at midnight the site will be updated and they will be available for purchase!!!

Posted by spaceghostpirate in United Kingdom, 31 Aug 2010 16:00

@starfire2 - I imagine it was due to high call volume that TRU Dunlap that they put a limit on them. I know that the Lego store in Chandler, AZ got them in on Monday 23 and limited them to 16 per day per customer. Still they sold out of 1000(yes one thousand) in about a day.

I did a blind drive and was there when they opened so I had first touch of the case.

TRU Bell and TRU Goodyear got a box of Series 2 last week and sold out by weekend. I was lucky to be at TRU Bell on Saturday and friend and I grabbed 5(limit) each.

If I can't find another shipment Starfire2, I would be willing to buy that extra Karate Master (x1) for a friend.

Also the TRU stores are selling them for a marked up $2.99 per pack + tax.

P.S. Called Lego store and they have the Kingdoms Advent 2010 back in stock for $34(as of Monday). Not sure if I want to drive to Chandler, as I hear it should be appearing in TRU soon. I picked up the City Advent 2010 but am pretty sure I am going to take it back.

Happy Hunting!

That's awesome news about another LEGO store coming to the valley, although I want them to open one in Scottsdale Fashion Square (even though it would make me forever poor).

I stopped by my local TRU after work today to see if they had gotten any minifigures. They told me they got 3 cases about 2 weeks ago and they sold out that same day, even with a limit of 10 per person. I had been calling them numerous times over the past month and they always seem to "play dumb" like they didn't know what I was talking about and of course they never know when they are going to get them. Now they tell me they had them two weeks ago? I find that hard to believe since this post only started one week ago today?? I am so mad >:(

King of Prussia, PA Lego Store has them. Just got back - got our few remaining ones the kids really wanted - still shy of a complete set, so may get a couple more (or might get them in our lego.com order).

Was funny helping people get the ones they wanted using my android app :). The Lego store people were patient with all of us though.

I keep camping out TRU's only to find its a TRU 25 miles away that opens up at 9am and is in the middle of the area everyone commutes to that gets them. But when I asked today the cashier said no but we do have these and bring out a few packets of the chrome storm trooper :) So I now own 3. They were 2.99 but the Alien in a ship is 6.99 !!! oww.
