High-street chemist Boots currently has 3-for-2 offer on most LEGO sets. They appear to have most of the latest batch of Star Wars sets, so it would be a good opportunity to stock up on Slave-1s.

See what's in stock: they even do free delivery on orders over £45.

    (thanks Markey)

They've got enough decent stuff in stock to make this worthwhile at the moment - Slave 1, General Grievous Starfighter, Plo Koon's Starfighter, City Airport etc.

Only downside is that you can't order the Star Wars sets for instore collection, unfortuately, so we'll just have to hope that they package the sets properly and don't send them via destructo-post like some UK retailers.....

@DrDaveWatford - I have ordered online from Boots before, I'm sorry to say the box was not in the best shape when it arrived. Whether this was a one-off or not I don't know but thought I'd let you know.

Whenever Boots do these offers, they always seem to be clever in that they never have 3 sets that are the same price, therefore reducing the saving you can make unless you buy multiples of the same set.

Now, can I really justify getting three Slave 1's, it works out at just over 50 quid each and I've already got one! Think I might have to pass on this one, maybe if they put a few more of the summer SW sets in the offer I'll reconsider.

@atkinsar - thanks. I decided to take the risk as I was waiting for some meaningful discounts on the Summer 2010 sets, but I'm well aware that there's a chance the boxes may be damaged, in which case I'll just reject the shipment and get my money back.

Pity they weren't doing the Clone Turbo Tank as well - that plus Slave 1 and the City Airport = £80 saving which is well worth having.

@DrDaveWatford - Getting them sent to a store is a good option. I had Battle of Endor and Highway Transport from them last year and they arrived in store in perfect condition. Plenty of airbags inside. Also Boots last year added some more sets after a week or so. So it's worth keeping an eye on what they have - the Clone Tank may well turn up.

Thanks for the News Huw, I Didn't even know that Boots sold Lego :)

I've ordered 3 sets myself, never bought from Boots before. Reading previous messages, I'm getting a bit worried they might be damaged when they get here.

i may just have to order a general grievous starfighter the closest boots to me just sells make-up e.c.t

@Dr DaveWatford: "destructo-post... our motto: if it aint damaged ,your lucky" :D

hmmm, interesting, but I must say I am struggling to follow Boots product mix. I don't think even the biggest Boots sell much in the way of Toys or Lego, and I would have never dreamed of checking Boots on line for the £70+ Slave 1 set. lol

Its got me thinking though, I might hold on and see if they stock some of the Potter lego later, as there might be a nice average price reduction to be had if say Hogwarts drops in to this offer.

As far as the current range on offer, I think its only useful to budding ebay sellers who want to buy three Slave 1s for an average of £55 and try to make a profit.

Would really appreciate feedback from anybody in terms of packaging quality.

I will have to skip this one too. You can get the turbo tank on amazon for £90.15 which I recently got.

@Jabba - all 3 items I ordered were shown as "not available for in store pick-up", otherwise that's exactly what I would have done. As it is, I have to brave destructo-post and hope for the best !

@DrDave - that's annoying, they must have changed the policy since last year.

I'm going to pass on this one....if they had more range of sets (I cant find any hero factory sets) then i would buy them...UK TRU needs to put an offer on though!

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 18 Sep 2010 12:07

Never seen LEGO sets at Boots...

Posted by DrDaveWatford in United Kingdom, 19 Sep 2010 04:18

@aquafreak125 - TRU in the U.S. are clearly streets ahead of their UK TRU counterpart when it comes to offers, but there are a couple of good deals at UK TRU right now. I picked up the latest AT-AT yesterday £20 off, which is £10 less than you can get it at a LEGO brand store or shop@home. Given that it's a TRU exclusive, this might be as good as it gets.

They also had the new yellow truck, and the exclusive blue and white TRU version, both £10 off at £19.99 (which is however the RRP....) and £29.99 respectively.

@DrDaveWatford - Thats the exact set I got at Toys R Us. I also got a free chrome stormtrooper (not sure if you did?) that I sold for £10, so basically its around £70 net, so a really good deal.

My order arrived this morning, and there was no damage whatsoever :)

Just taken delivery of 3 x 3182 City Airport. Fantastic service, no damage.

Placed my order on Friday and took delivery yesterday, so very pleased (6 sets in total, with a saving of about £60!). Slight cellotape damage to one of the sets, but the rest were pretty much immaculate. Just need to see if this Argos 3 for 2 offer is genuine... my credit card's really taking a LEGO hit this month!!

Cheers, guys - I find your positive experiences reassuring, although I won't be able to relax entirely until I inspect the goods.....!

@Renegade007cjh - you and me both - I've also reserved 3 sets at Argos, just gotta hope that the deal is on....
