    Current deals and set spotting:

    • Target has 20%-off all LEGO, including Series 2 minifigures (!), until next Thursday the 14th of October (Thank you Worfe1979)
    • Big W has released the new Harry Potter sets out for sale - at the Big W I visited they were not with the rest of the LEGO, but on a seperate pedestal display near the Layby counter.
    • Myer has 20%-off all LEGO until this Sunday the 10th of October 2010. Reports from other Australian states seem to indicate that Myer also has Harry Potter sets available for sale.
    • K-Mart has some LEGO sets listed on page 13 of their current catalogue. These include the Star Wars Hoth Wompa Cave. There are reports also that the Prince of Persia sets are being heavily discounted at K-Mart.

(Of course, with the current strong Australian dollar, it is very tempting to purchase overseas through eBay or BrickLink!)

    Happy shopping Australia!

Minifigure Series 2 at Target are going at $3 a pop - grab it fast while you can!

Chadstone Target has a good supply. Southland is sold-out I think. City Target almost finish. Malvern has good stocks - about 7 boxes when I went there last night (but no more Spartans - I picked 8 of em clean).

Not sure about the other stores - just call up at the numbers at Target.com.au.

Not all Target stores have the S2 Minifigs available, they seem to have mysteriously disappeared from 3 of my local stores. I don't think they had all sold out of them.

Are there any of the 7848 Toys R Us City Truck sets still available? It looks like I'll be returning soon to Melbourne for work.

Bust My Buffers, 20% off Series 2! I can feel my wallet shrinking already...sadly, if my calculations are correct, that's only 80c off, making them $2.95ea. Oh well, any saving is a good saving.

Oops, sorry about the Thomas The Tank Engine reference at the start of my comment. Can't help referencing or quoting Thomas in everyday speech nowadays. Is there such a thing as being too much of a fan of something? :D

Don't forget - retail for series 2 Minifigures is $3.95 AUD on Lego.com.au. However, Target selling them for $3 flat - which means 25% cheaper.

Thanks for the Australian Harry Potter news. I went today and got what I was after...20% off at Myer, so more like the price it should be. I rang the Australian Lego club customer service office 1 week ago to find out the release date in Australia and what shops would be stocking it...they said no retailers were signed up to sell any of the HP sets...strange?

Posted by CharlieTheFunEngine in Australia, 08 Oct 2010 21:01

Hmm, today at Target, huge void on the shelf where the minifigures used to be. Ah well, at first I thought I wasn't going to be able to get any. At least I have one.

@Grahame - try the Knox Toys R Us - that's in Wantirna South, about a 30min drive from the CBD if traffic is clear. I was there about a week ago and they seemed to have a good supply of 7848 truck sets. Selling for $69 Aud. You might want to give them a call before going though, just in case they've sold out. Out of the country at the moment, so looks like I'll have to wait till the next lot of sales to pick up the HP sets. Happy shopping everyone!

Anyone looking for Minifigures Series 2 should try their local Toys R Us, I found them at Knox in Victoria on Saturday and the retail for $2.99 ea.

@ scoopi68 - Very strange indeed. Sure makes it sound like Myer, Kmart, Target and Big W are all stocking the Harry Potter sets illegally.

Posted by catmil in Australia, 11 Oct 2010 01:00

Woo! I have some illegal Lego, then. I saw Harry Potter sets at Big W, K-Mart and Target on Saturday. Took advantage of the 20% off at Target for some

Earlier in the week at K-Mart I got 7573, Battle of Alamut, for $80. Was marked down to $99 for a week or two before that. A few other Prince of Persia sets on sale, too. And a couple from Star Wars. 7778, Mid Scale Millennium Falcon, was about $25

Would someone please explain to me where to look on the Minifigures Series 2 packaging to determine which figure is in the pack. I looked at boxes of Series 2 figures at ToysRUS earlier this week and the barcode on every packet was the same and was not the same as any of the barcodes on http://www.1000steine.com/brickset/miscellaneous/8684Barcodes.pdf. Thanks.

Posted by CharlieTheFunEngine in Australia, 14 Oct 2010 04:01

@ catmill - I doubt it's actually illegal, it was just a joke. The guy at LEGO Club Customer Service that Scoopi68 was speaking to probably just shrugged it off or didn't know what Scoopi68 was talking about...

@ Fredred - Barcodes all the same? Extremely odd. Sorry, can't help you with that one mate. We must have a variant on our hands...

Posted by Alepou in Australia, 14 Oct 2010 06:45

@Fredred, Look at the narrow barcode on the back below the red lego sign. The big barcode (with numbers below it) is the same because it tells the check-out the price of the figure. The small one tells us what is in the packet. Hope that helps

Anyone chasing any Lego set this weekend, use this at your local Toys R Us! Just print it out and take it with you.

@ Alepou - Another 20% off? Why doesn't anyone ever have more than 20% off? Too bad I don't live near a TRU.

Attention Australian LEGO Fans!

Sorry for the two posts in a row but I thought this would be the best place to share my news so that it would be read by as many Aussie LEGO Fans as possible!

The Full-Scale LEGO House episode of James May's Toy Stories will be shown on a Friday night at 7:30pm on SBS1 (Australia) very soon! That's all the details I can find so far but I'll post another comment when I find out the exact date.

I couldn't watch it the first time it was on but I've read the companion book to the series, I'm an avid fan of Top Gear (only the UK version - the Australian one is just blergh) and I can't wait to see Captain Slow build a LEGO house.

More news as it comes to hand.
