Mini-site update on LEGO.com - Ninjago & Pharaoh's Quest

  • Mini-site update on LEGO.com - Ninjago & Pharaoh's Quest

Posted by bluemoose, 15 Oct 2010 09:29. Filed under LEGO.com.

There have been hints of these mini-sites coming on-stream over the last couple of days, but they've now gone live on the US version of LEGO.com. Other regions should follow, but for now the links below should work; if not, you may need to temporarily change your location settings on LEGO.com to English/US.

The two mini-sites are teasers for two new themes expected in December or January, Ninjago and Pharaoh's Quest. As usual for new theme mini-sites, they don't have a lot of content yet; expect them to be expanded over the coming weeks and months, so check them often. Thanks to r4-g9 for emailing this in.

Take a look & let us know what you think !

Pharaohs quest page is cool, i've seen the set images and they're really cool!
Ninjago page has nothing, so i cant have an opinion on it yet.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2010 09:49

Both work for me. I'd suggest trying again. It looks like the Ninjago minisite is Flash-based, so if you're having problems with the new LEGO.com top-level page, you'll probably have problems with this too. Obviously it isn't going to work with iDevices (iPhone, iPad, iPod). On Windows or Mac, make sure you update to the latest Flash player (v10.1).

The NinjaGo page reminds me of Real Ultimate Power, it's got that campy "Ninjas are awesome, they can do anything" type of vibe. The Pharaoh's Quest page is cute, too. Both are well designed.

Posted by vwong19 in United States, 15 Oct 2010 10:35

interesting. it finally worked after i upgraded my flash player. it looks like the pharoah, explorer and ninja from the collectible minifigs are going to be the frist used widely in regular sets. they both peak my interest. i had no idea that these themes were coming out.

Posted by icepick in United States, 15 Oct 2010 10:38

They are both way funny. Love the wit LEGO is putting into these new themes.
I'm excited for flying mummies. :D

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2010 11:06

HAHAHAHA!! That Ninjago quiz was funny!! Is your mom a ninja??

Posted by legowomen1980p in United States, 15 Oct 2010 11:08

they are gone...
what did they look like???
what did you guys see?

Posted by starfire2 in United States, 15 Oct 2010 11:20

I was able to view it on my ipod touch but when I tried on my mac, it said page not found for both. Maybe they pulled the plug for now?

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2010 11:21

Both mini-sites still work for me; I've tried another computer, and a different browser, & it works fine, so it isn't running off a local cached copy. I'm linking from the news article above.

PageNotFound, this comes up....re-post your links then..

Posted by HQuiff in Ireland, 15 Oct 2010 11:49

Heh! Much prefer the new "Not Found Page", as apposed to that shocked looking Kid. ;) Really like the new Pharaoh's Quest page. Can't wait for it's release.

Posted by finger2314 in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2010 12:08

Whats with the pharoah quest page- need a code, I can't do anything without one!

Posted by cat.boy in United States, 15 Oct 2010 12:40

The code is "pharaohs quest"

Posted by Duraz in United States, 15 Oct 2010 12:58

The links work for me but I couldn't find out how to get to the mini-sites from lego.com. Usually new mini-sites are in products but they weren't there this time.

Posted by lego8x8 in United States, 15 Oct 2010 14:06

My guess is that these sets will be out right before Xmas at TRUs. That may be the reason why TRUs has been having so many specials and sales over the last few months. They are making room for new inventory. The last ninja sets (1999) had black, white, red, grey and green ninjas. Let's see if LEGO will make purple and other colors like they did with the Castle sets a couple of years ago.

The Brickset Effect has struck again! They've been removed.

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2010 14:22

@LegoCoastGuard, it has!! I like that new art in the background though.....

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 15 Oct 2010 14:24

@Doctor Leg, LegoCoast: What do you mean? They're still there...

Posted by Matthew in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2010 14:26

@Doctor Leg O'Brick - Sorry I was wrong, try on Firefox. I won't remove my last comment though because it will just cause confusion. I really thought they had gone but then I read the article at http://toysnbricks.com/ I don't know if you lot are using IE but I'm using Chrome which could explain it. It works on Firefox though.

EDIT: Alemas, explained now.

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2010 15:04

For me, both mini-sites work perfectly on Firefox, IE8, Chrome, Safari & Opera. All are the latest versions, with Flash player 10.1 installed.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 15 Oct 2010 15:09

@bluemoose: Hang on... has Huw tested Brickset on Firefox 4 Beta and IE9 Beta?

Posted by Leela in Poland, 15 Oct 2010 15:55

Ninjago is "page not found" but Pharaoh's Quest looks cute :)
For me it doesn't work on new Firefox but works on ancient version of IE. Must be magic.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 15 Oct 2010 16:01

@Leela: Ninjago works for me. Set your country temporarily to the US.

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2010 16:13

Right, i will start with Alemas. For me, my computer is well, old. The screen is 33cm wide and the back is 55cm or so. Made in 2002 or so it crashs 99% of time, stops for 20 minutes when i log in, makes a noise like a tardis and the speakers steam after 10 minutes of use. This means that i can not get them up on my magic wooden box.....

LegoCoastGuard, i have something called widows.......

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 15 Oct 2010 16:46

@Dr. Leg: Hm, curious that you use the metric sytem instead of imperials, and you're English... :/ Anyway, the screen size is the same as mine! Mine is thinner too. A LOT thinner. And it's from... 2005/2006? But what do you mean by "all that tec you where talking about"?

Posted by Captain Blockbeard in United States, 15 Oct 2010 16:47

Neither mini-site work for me despite using Firefox, and my location is set for English-US by default anyway as well.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 15 Oct 2010 16:48

@Cpt. Blockbeard: They work for me!

Posted by R4-G9 in Canada, 15 Oct 2010 16:53

i think that there will be a new page from the pharaohs quest journal every day, because last night their was only one page.

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2010 16:58

@Alemas, sorry about that, must stop trying to read five comments at once....
@R4-G9 yes, i think that will happen till the day it makes it out into the open.

Posted by Carnigee77 in United States, 15 Oct 2010 17:04

a google translate tool bar poped up on the top of my screen saying that this page was written in indonesian and had been translated for me...

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 15 Oct 2010 17:57

At around lunch both mini-sites were offline. Now that I'm finished my school day they appear to be working. From first appearance I really like the Egyptian theme! Better yet I had bought the old Adventures temple not too long back so it looks like they'll be plenty more fun sets to add. The ninja one doesn't say or show much... kind of don't have the time to read all the weird text.

Posted by ceroknight in Canada, 15 Oct 2010 18:55

Weird If I click the inks I can go to it but if I go to products I can't find it :s
I have seen pictures of the PQ sets and they are fabulous! Much better than ninja go!
Thank you for sites

Posted by Anak in Hungary, 15 Oct 2010 19:08

Hey, the background music of the Ninjago page came from the old video game Seven Kingdoms! It's the japanese theme. Funny!

Posted by CharlieTheFunEngine in Australia, 15 Oct 2010 19:32

@ superbrick - bluemoose was just letting fans know about the new mini-sites. He hasn't "ripped off" anything.

Posted by Kalhiki in United States, 15 Oct 2010 19:34

Decent. No mini-site if ever anything spectacular. Though I am excited for Pharaoh's Quest. Ninjago seems meh. I'll have to see some up close pictures before I make an opinion.

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 15 Oct 2010 19:51

Well just "Google"ing the words Lego Pharaoh's Quest you can see the odd image. Nothing that will spoil all the sets... but one image of some accessories looked hot. I do think the Egyptian theme is really worth saving up for.

I really don't know why Lego always tries to keep early images from getting out...? Everytime I see an image of the 2011 sets it just tells me I'd better save more money; so my Lego fund is much bigger in 2011!!!

Posted by legomatt in United Kingdom, 15 Oct 2010 20:23

@finger2314: Oh dear, tut tut tut... failed at the first puzzle, back to archaeology school with you (joking). The parchment to the left shows you a letter-by-letter translation of the ancient glyphs, you use it to translate the code on the diary cover. (And you can download it if you want - I found right clicking to 'save target as' worked).

Even though they're 'just' teasers, I actually enjoyed them. FUN! :o)

Posted by CharlieTheFunEngine in Australia, 15 Oct 2010 20:43

Drat, even mini-sites take ages to load up on the new LEGO.com on my PC. And it's under 18 months old!

Posted by Ypres in Canada, 15 Oct 2010 20:53

@TinyTurbosCityAndToyStory < Is there something wrong with your computer?! Or is your internet just slow...?

Both the Lego Website and Mini-sites load quick/easy on my laptop and home computer.

Posted by freindboy in United States, 15 Oct 2010 21:01

At approximately 9:00pm EST, both sides went down.

Posted by CharlieTheFunEngine in Australia, 15 Oct 2010 21:03

@ Ypres - Ah, yes, forgot to check my speed before posting my comment. My current internet speed is 45.2Kbps.

Posted by R4-G9 in Canada, 15 Oct 2010 23:16

they are both there

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 16 Oct 2010 07:41

@R4-G9, their back!!
@Alemas, about that comment, im not 100% English....

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 16 Oct 2010 07:44

@Dr. Leg: Hm? What do you mean? You're not English then!

Posted by Doctor Leg O'Brick in United Kingdom, 16 Oct 2010 07:51

@Alemas im half english, half Irish.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 16 Oct 2010 08:44

@Dr. Leg: Ah-ha. So I imagine the Irish (and half-Irish) use the metric system... Oh well, BACK ON TOPIC!!!

Posted by c.lee.r in United States, 16 Oct 2010 09:12

page is down no matter what area i select.

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 16 Oct 2010 09:20

@c.lee.: Errrrmm... you're right. Doesn't work for me.

EDIT: They BOTH now work. Weird.

Posted by SwiftHydro in Canada, 16 Oct 2010 09:24

well, it turns out mommy's half ninja, and flying mummies officialy freak me out.

Posted by JaseTJ in United States, 16 Oct 2010 15:54

Can't wait for either theme! Pharaoh's Quest looks like it'll be good, especially since I'm reading 'The Kane Chronicles' 'The Red Pyramid' book, which is awesome! and for Ninjago: Ninja's are just awesome, new Skelle-ish pieces are gunna be awesome, and who cares if its a game or how fun the game is??

Posted by javierulf29 in France, 16 Oct 2010 16:52

None of them are working for me... Page not found and I'm on the US website... weird...

Posted by Alemas in Germany, 16 Oct 2010 17:04

@javierulf: ...and they work for me. Am I being privileged at the LEGO site I wonder?

Posted by codysims in United States, 16 Oct 2010 19:18

Despite Ninjago being a boring little spinning game, think of what you can use the peices for! Plus, the figs are pretty cool. Pharoh Quest also looks vert cool too! Flying mummies? Awesome!

If you don't like it, then don't buy it. It's as simple as that.

Posted by Duraz in United States, 19 Oct 2010 12:40

pharaoh's quest is gone.

Posted by CharlieTheFunEngine in Australia, 20 Oct 2010 02:33

Why are the sites up, then down, then up, then down, and then other times they work for some people while they are down for others? What is going on?

Posted by bluemoose in United Kingdom, 20 Oct 2010 03:14

Remember that these mini-sites haven't been officially launched, & that there are still no links to them from the rest of the LEGO.com site. They are probably still undergoing testing by LEGOs web development team, hence they keep coming & going. For me, the Ninjago mini-site still works, but I'm also getting the 'page not found' error for Pharaoh's Quest.
