    This week, Toys R Us is running another BUY 1 GET 1 50% OFF sale.  However, this sale excludes Star Wars, Harry Potter, Space Police, Creator, Bricks and More, and LEGO Direct sets.  As always, be sure to buy similarly priced sets in order to maximize the deal.  Additionally, with a $20 purchase and while supplies last, you will receive a Retro Fireman Minifigure Magnet.  Lastly, visit your local Toys R Us on Saturday October 23 between 12 - 2pm for their LEGO Bricktober 500 where you get to build, decorate, and race your own LEGO car.  You also receive a free "LEGO" driver's license!  :o)

    Update:  Online, the magnet is automatically added to your cart and trumps the BOGO50% deal unless you add a 3rd qualifying item to your cart.  I thus recommend that you head to your local store where this will not likely be an issue.  Otherwise, you can remove the magnet from your cart to claim the BOGO50% discount.  This occurred with the double promotion last week as well so hopefully TRU can get this fixed prior to the upcoming Holiday season.

FYI, You cannot get both the BOGO50% and magnet with just the 2 sets.. You have to buy another set to get the magnet, then buy two sets to get the BOGO50%.. which I think stinks.. Maybe the brick and mortars are better and they will let you get both....

SO if you want the BOGO50 it sounds like you need to remove the magnet from your cart. Then you will get the discount

@madforlegos - I noticed that as well last week with the Halloween bag. To me, the Retro Fireman Magnet is not as enticing as the BOGO50% so I would probably recommend just removing the magnet if you're buying online. This should not be an issue in stores and you won't have to worry about shipping. Also, the BOGO50% deal usually applies more than once in store.

@YellowCastle: Yeah, the BOGO50 is definitely better than the Fire Fighter... I put in an order before 12am EDT so I could get the Cavalry guy, I hope I get them....
But I'd rather get a few more train sets than the firefighter (besides I have a ton of those anyway :-) )

Although With my order on Saturday I got both the Cavalry guy AND the bag.. so I dunno if at the end of the week they just wanted to get rid of them both or what...

I mean the BOGO50% could have been a better selection (Fire Brigades come to mind as well as the Carousels), but the train sets are not cheap and any chance to get those on sale is nice, plus free shipping is still there for purchases over $100 as well so it beats fighting traffic and listening to screaming children at the local TRUs... Plus I do not expect a BTGF to be coming around again anytime soon (but then again there still is one more week left in October after this so who knows)

The Lego Bricktober 500 race is poorly done. I know because I tried out the latest Fathers Day Race here in Canada, and it was bad!

The thing you do (for the CDN one) is build a car, put it at the top of a ramp (held back I a rectangular piece of plastic) , and then the Toys-R-us employee pulls the Piece of plastic, and the car goes down in each of there separate ways.

The bad part was some cars didn't go down (like mine's twice), or the car drives into the side o the wall. And the bad part was, you have to wait 10-20 minutes to try again. And all the little kids were beating me.

When looking at the TRU newspaper ad, the price range given on the promotion is $2.49 to $299.99. The only piece that's $299.99 on the TRU site is the Taj Mahal, which I was really hoping would be eligible. I called TRU's customer service folks a bit ago, and they acknowledged it appeared to be an error as the Taj wasn't included (and was quickly out of stock two weeks ago during the great sale). I'd also hoped the Emerald Knight would be included, but no such luck. Scored a couple of advent calenders so I should be happy - with the BOGO deal, a $10 coupon and about 15 minutes on the phone with a TRU rep, I got the advents for $19 apiece and the free minifigure.

I went to my local TRU, and bought exactly $20 worth before the discount, had a five dollar rewards coupon, and got out of there for eleven dollars and change. Definitely worth going to the brick and mortar store for that deal.

I think it's time for me to finally cave in and go for the City Public Transport and Kingdoms Lion Knights Castle. Now, I'm so glad I didn't buy the Transport set alone with a 20% off coupon the other day.

I need to buy 2 gifts. What happens if the recipients return them...will one only get credit for 50% and the other at full price if I give a gift receipt? Also would the minifigure magnet need to be returned? I was going to keep it for us since i'd only get one.

Again, the train station sold out very quickly. It was actually listed as in stock when I clicked on it, but when I tried to add it to my cart, it said it had sold out. :(

Does anyone know how to determine which TRU will carry the train station and level crossing in store? They are not listed as "online only" items, but I've checked a number of TRU stores locally and not been ablt to find them in stock.

Bricktober was a big rip for me....I went to the counter and the deals were, 1. Get a free lego bucket ($7.99 value) and 2. Get a retro cowboy minifigure, ok cool. I'm figuring the lego bucket is like really small or something w/a few pieces. WRONG! I get to the counter and they give me some small yellow bag with the lego logo on it. What in the world, it's no bucket, it's a BAG! So I am awaiting to get a magnet and she was like all out, nothing I can do about it. But, I did get my new lego family home :), that was worth it though!
