Neato. It's not in the U.S. though. Oh well, I wasn't going to buy it anyway.

Posted by mastermind in United Kingdom, 01 Mar 2008 14:34

But it is in the U.K!It looks awesome!I'm gonna buy it for sure!

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 01 Mar 2008 14:44

I'm New Zealand! I'll be first for once. Wait, no, I don't want it. Hey, Grahame lives in the same city as me!

Posted by SillyQuack in United States, 01 Mar 2008 14:48

If I lived in any of those countries, and it wasn't my brothers birthday, and if we hadn't bought a Wii I would get that. Just have to wait till summer.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 01 Mar 2008 14:52

Can't find it at S@H.

So it isn't a false alarm this time?

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 01 Mar 2008 15:54

Ironic! it's $270 in NZD

Posted by copperwonder96 in United States, 01 Mar 2008 17:15

It's too expensive to release in the U.S. early. Likely due to the drop in the U.S. Dollar and failing consumer confidence (they didn't poll Lego Post Dark Age Buyers though, we'd buy it even if we had to sell a lung). You'll notice that a lot of the new sets will be pricier ($20 to $30 USD more, especially for sets over $100!) I wouldn't doubt that inventory will be low in the States and thus will be hard to get in the U.S. for some time.

Posted by copperwonder96 in United States, 01 Mar 2008 17:18

If it's $270 in NZD, you're looking at $199 (maybe more in the US) Hopefully less and more like $149 because of logistics.

Posted by mrdoofa in United Kingdom, 01 Mar 2008 18:33

I live in the UK and have ordered it already!!! Can't wait for it to arrive, Just look at the detail on it!!! I have already created a space in my lego town for it between Cafe corner and Market street.

Posted by LuvKernow in United Kingdom, 01 Mar 2008 18:48

Ouch... Expensive. Will have to wait to get it after I've done the car repairs. Oh, and paid for petrol for the month (Now 5 quid/10 dollars a gallon round here...)

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 01 Mar 2008 20:17

Nifty! just saw the interior!

Posted by eros in Australia, 01 Mar 2008 21:15

Just bought it for $149.00 Australian dollars. That has to be a mistake since cafe corner is $250.00 AUD.
Processed my visa payment though.
I wonder what will happen...

Posted by MinifigHQ in Australia, 01 Mar 2008 21:58

eros, why wouldn't you have waited for it to ship before making a statement.......pretty obvious what will happen isn't it, the price will be adjusted accordingly.

Posted by Mog, 01 Mar 2008 23:06

I think it'll be a little bit more than Cafe Corner in the US...probably around $159.

Posted by legolover94 in New Zealand, 02 Mar 2008 01:04

Yay!! Im in NZ. But I'm going to wait until its going to be in toyworld. Its cheaper.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 02 Mar 2008 01:16

Wonder if my toyworld will get it in. The large sets they heve are mainly Exo-Force, the Sentai Fortress. wonder if they'll get more. They will start appearing on trademe probably.

Posted by Wolfy 8880 in Australia, 02 Mar 2008 02:17

Thanks for the tip-off, Eros. I'm not interested in the modular street range at all, but with that introductory price I couldn't resist. Just ordered it and some of the Exo-force run-out stuff. :-)

Posted by legolover94 in New Zealand, 02 Mar 2008 02:38

My toyworld is selling it for NZ$200 and i get 25% discount so its really cheap.

Posted by Wolfy 8880 in Australia, 02 Mar 2008 03:05

150 NZD, in the real world, without postage charges? Grab it! I just hope the 2300 pieces it says on the S@H site is correct, and I haven't just ripped myself off. I've seen mistaken piece counts change before, and I know nothing about this set.

Prices currently shown on S@H:

AUD 149.99
GBP 99.99
EUR 149.95
(or EUR 149.99 in some countries - incredible, does 4c really matter!?)
DKK 1299.00
NZD 269.99

Obviously, when stock arrives in North America, the U.S. price will be USD 149, and the Australian price will be bumped up to $269 in due course. I'll be interested to see whether the Canadians get CAD 149 or 200+... I'll bet it's the latter and sets off another spate of online whinging from Canadians. ;-)

Posted by legolover94 in New Zealand, 02 Mar 2008 03:08

Its hasn't arrived in the shop yet but it will arrive in about end of march. And i don't have to pay shipping Wolfy 8880. So NZD $150 is pretty cheap.

Posted by brickzone in Ireland, 02 Mar 2008 04:42

Woohoo! It's €129.99 for Ireland, just like Town Plan was! Makes up for the lack of physical shops here with Lego, and high shipping costs to Ireland.

I've ordered mine, along with over the same amount again on other sets!

Posted by Wolfy 8880 in Australia, 02 Mar 2008 05:16

Why are you yelling "Woohoo!", brickzone? Are you in pain? €130 is almost 250 AUD.

Now that I've been outed (I didn't bother checking all the eurozone countries, only five), I have to ask why the discrepancy? Does the Irish price include GST/VAT, or is tax added on to that €130? Or... is Ireland one of the few real free-trade countries?

Posted by lego12 in United States, 02 Mar 2008 12:50

SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 02 Mar 2008 12:52

I could go Austrailian and get it cheaper.

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 02 Mar 2008 20:06

US price is $149.99. They have it on display at my local Lego store (MoA) with the price tag on it.

Posted by Mog, 03 Mar 2008 02:53

I remember when MoA was my local LEGO store...*sob*

$149 isn't bad at all.

I just need to decide between that, Cafe Corner, Town Plan, or Hobby Train (plus an engine, tracks, and all that jazz) for my first "big" LEGO set...

Posted by bmwlego in United States, 03 Mar 2008 05:24

Mog
The Hobby Train is an excellent buy and your local LEGO store might still have a deal on 9v tracks. Mine sold an oval for I think 16.99 or maybe even cheaper. The Hobby Train has a huge piece count for the discounted price of 50 bucks. Town Plan is a great set but Cafe Corner is amazingly beautiful, takes several hours to build and comes with colors that are not as easily available such as dark red, dark blue, brown and tan.
I have all of the sets you have mentioned and I am not disappointed with any of them.
I will be buying Green Grocer and when I do I'll make the hour plus trip to the LEGO store so I can get the loyalty stamps and get my coupon for doing so.

Posted by UKver2.0 in United States, 03 Mar 2008 11:54

And don't forget, if your local Lego store is out of stock and the item is available online, they will order it for you with no shipping charge. And you still get the loyalty stamps!

Posted by Classicsmiley in United States, 03 Mar 2008 12:09

This set is also now available from the US S@H website.

Posted by OracabessaGirl in Canada, 03 Mar 2008 12:46

You were right, Wolfy. GG is $220 CAD! And the $19.95 S@H is charging for shipping certainly does nothing to improve my mood. I'm now trying to decide whether it's worth waiting for a free shipping promo. Decisions, decisions.

Posted by Wolfy 8880 in Australia, 06 Mar 2008 03:17

Just checked and they've changed the Australian price from 149.99 AUD to 249.99 AUD. Pooee! They haven't dispatched my order yet, so I hope they don't try welching on it.

Posted by chucky12 in Australia, 06 Mar 2008 18:47

Wolfy8880 - Did they confirm your order? My order has been "In process" for the last 6 days but they haven't dispatched my order either. Let's hope that the 149.99 WAS an introductory price...otherwise....not happy!
Funny enough, my email confirmation was in Eur149.99, rather than AUD149.99. Hmmm.

Posted by Wolfy 8880 in Australia, 06 Mar 2008 23:28

G'day Chucky, interesting that you mentioned the currency. I was reading a thread on Eurobricks last night wherein someone said their email was in GBP rather than AUD. I've just checked my order, both the email and on the website, and there is no currency denomination at all, just the numbers. I'm wondering whether you and they are seeing Windows/Outlook being too clever and adding a default currency symbol or something like that. To answer your question directly, yes, I got the email the next day and, like yours, my order is "in process".

Posted by mjb in United Kingdom, 07 Mar 2008 12:15

Just picked this set up from the Lego shop in Milton Keynes, UK. On the back of the box is a picture of it with the Cafe Corner set which looks small next to the Green Grocer set.

Posted by eros in Australia, 07 Mar 2008 19:52

News from Australia:
Green Grocer just shipped @ $149.00. Doesn't say what currency.
Please be Australian dollars.

Posted by chucky12 in Australia, 08 Mar 2008 16:59

Yeah! Just got confirmation that my GG has been shipped, @149.99. There was no mention at all as to what currency it was charged at. As yet, they haven't deducted it for my account, but I'm hoping that they don't charge a conversion rate.
Hope you get yours soon, Wolfy8880 and eros :)

Posted by mrdoofa in United Kingdom, 08 Mar 2008 18:47

I have got confirmation that my Green grocer has now shipped from s@h, I have already checked out the instructions on legos website and it looks so good I cannot wait to start building it!!! I ordered 10184 and 4996 at the same time as these also look brilliant.

Posted by RangerTam in United States, 11 Mar 2008 15:29

Actually arrived yesterday!!! It's hubbys bday present though and I told him he has to wait until the 29th (weekend before birthday) to build it. The box is huge though! And the piece count is what it says.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 12 Mar 2008 00:48

And what do you mean the piece count is what it says? do you sit there and count them all out?

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 12 Mar 2008 14:25

I think what SHE means is that the size of the actual model matches the size of the piece count.

Posted by eros in Australia, 12 Mar 2008 18:23

ok today's visa statement confirms $184.99AUD (includes shipping). Fantastic.

Have other sets had this "introductory" price or was it more likely a mistake?

Posted by eros in Australia, 12 Mar 2008 18:26

Forgot to ask, how long does standard shipping to Australia usually take?
(I think Lego.com says 18 working days".

Posted by chucky12 in Australia, 12 Mar 2008 20:25

G'day Eros, TLC charged me the "introductory" price as well, so I don't think it was a mistake. And my order says it will take up to 18 days to arrive.
Funny enough, the entry in my account says it was from Lego London. Go figure......
I wonder if all GG will arrive like the one in this link?

Posted by MinifigHQ in Australia, 13 Mar 2008 07:23

My Green Grocer's arrived today, and I will spend the next few nights building them.

Posted by mrdoofa in United Kingdom, 13 Mar 2008 10:16

My GG arrived yesterday, sadly it didn't arrive like the one on the above eurobricks link, it was just packed with air filled packing pillows!!! If all lego sets came like that I bet lego would sell a lot more!!! I will post a review as soon as I have built it.

Posted by Wolfy 8880 in Australia, 17 Mar 2008 13:20

Eros, chucky12: my order shipped the same day as yours. I tried to PM you both last week, rather than bore everyone else with this chatter, but you aren't allowing private contacts. Since all three orders left the warehouse at the same time, I'm eager to compare arrival times - I'm in Perth. It'll be nice if they come this week, before the long weekend.

Posted by eros in Australia, 17 Mar 2008 18:29

No worries Wolfy. I'm in Perth too though so will probably arrive same time.
Where abouts are you chucky?

ps Wolfy, Myer in the city is currently selling the 1000 piece 7784 Batmobile for $68.00 reduced from $129.00. Not normally something I'd get but at that price I picked one up.

Posted by Leggodt94 in United States, 17 Mar 2008 19:08

Hey, just a very quick and off-topic question but where is Perth located?

Posted by legolover94 in New Zealand, 18 Mar 2008 00:32

Perth is in Australia.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 18 Mar 2008 01:49

Thought so. Capital is Canberra and you have a new Prime Minister. Well, relatively new, compared to ours which who is ancient. Anyway I asked the Lego Company about postage and it said 18 business days.

Posted by Wolfy 8880 in Australia, 18 Mar 2008 02:11

Western Australia. But inbound airmail usually comes via the Eastern states. If chucky is over east, he can give us a heads-up.

The Batmobile, eros: I saw one at that price in Adelaide in January, at a BigW or Kmart, but the box was open and I couldn't be sure all the bags were present. Plus, I have enough black LEGO to last a lifetime - they'd have to practically give it to me. (I like Exo-force - bright colours.) Are Myer having a general sale on LEGO, or was it just that particular set?

Speaking of black LEGO, I have a disassembled Rogue Shadow that I want to build into a Black Helicopter, that will land on the roof of the green-grocer. (Ta-da - back on topic!) It might look like an innocent green-grocer's shop, but it's really the Agents' secret headquarters.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 18 Mar 2008 02:24

Cool. I would like to have loads of black pieces to make towers and things. The green grocer is highly detailed because of the colours though.

Posted by Luke Skytalker in New Zealand, 18 Mar 2008 02:28

I just read a reveiw of the Cafe Corner and the modular houses are getting excellent feedback. I almost want one!

Posted by eros in Australia, 18 Mar 2008 07:46

It was just the Batmobile Wolfy. Lots of cool parts in there that I didn't previously have.

Posted by chucky12 in Australia, 18 Mar 2008 08:36

Wolfy, Eros: I live in sunny Queensland. Will let you know when I get it. My wife's dying to crack it open :)
It would be interesting to see who gets their's first.
My local Myer isn't discounting their Lego range, so it looks like its a local thing (lucky you!)
Love the idea of GG being an Agent's secret headquarters! Good thinking, 99

Green Grocer arrived (in Perth) today :)
The nice postie left it at my front door.

Posted by chucky12 in Australia, 28 Mar 2008 03:35

Eros, got mine on Tuesday, so there is a discrepency of two days between the East coast and the West. Hmm.

Posted by eros in Australia, 28 Mar 2008 04:51

I expected about that sort of delay chucky.
The only time I seem to get stuff before the east coast is from places like sendit.com (for dvds)in the UK.

So have you started Green Grocer yet?
I have a couple of other things to finish first but am content drooling over the box.

Posted by chucky12 in Australia, 29 Mar 2008 09:20

Finished it already. And it looks fantastic next to CC. Although I am a little disappointed in that it lacks more furnishings, the details (internal and external) are way better than CC. Worth every bit the "Introductory Price". Hope you enjoy the build.

Posted by Wolfy 8880 in Australia, 04 Apr 2008 04:36

Just finished it this morning. Built the ground floor one day, the first floor the next day, then there was a delay for a few days when a fire-breathing dragon appeared, and I had to enlist the help of some time-travelling Vikings to run it out of town, before I built the second floor and roof over last night.

For the record, I wasn't home last week but am told mine arrived on Thursday morning, the same as Eros'. And I'd like to publicly thank Eros for his tip-off regarding the price, and Chucky for letting me know when they were arriving. Thanks, guys.

(Why is Radia from Alpha Team standing on the roof? Could there be some truth to the rumour that secret agents use that shop as a safe-house?)
