  • Brickset welcomes new moderators

Site update Posted by Huw, May 13 2008 5:30PM

I have recruited three new moderators: fellow Brickish Association members Martin, bluemoose and Doctor Sinister. Their job will be to make sure we all play nicely in here, so please behave so they don't have much to do :)

  • Massive launch at LEGOshop.com

    LEGOshop.com news Posted by Huw, May 12 2008 2:09PM 7888-1

As predicted last week (okay so I had insider information :- ) ), the Mars Mission sets are now available from LEGOshop.com Europe as are the Coast Guard and Batman sets! Plus for our junior members there are new Duplo Castle and Thomas the Tank Engine sets as well as a Circus set.

Update: they are now in the feed and listed on http://www.brickset.com/buy/uk/new.aspx

  • New RSS feeds

Site update Posted by Huw, May 9 2008 4:18PM

Want to know when sets are added to LEGOshop.com but don't want to visit it every day? I now have the solution: Subscribe to one of Brickset's new RSS feeds.

If you're using FireFox or Internet Explorer, click on the RSS icon RSS icon on the toolbar to view and subscribe to them. If you're using another RSS reader, the feed URLs are:

Let me know if you find them useful. I might add others for 'sales and deals' soon.

  • Limited Edition Mars Mission set

New set news Posted by Huw, May 9 2008 3:22PM 7649-1

aj bellinger has once again come up with the goods and has sent us pictures of 7649, a limited edition Mars Mission set. I suspect it'll be exclusive to Toys R Us and LEGOshop.com.

  • Brickset users own over half a million sets between them!

Site update Posted by Huw, May 8 2008 5:51PM

Over the last few days you have collectively added 1000-odd sets to your 'sets I own' lists which now takes the total to over 500,000! Unsurprisingly, the top 25 most owned sets are all Star Wars bar one, and I have to say I'm surprised what that one is (take a look yourself).

    Here's to the next half-million!

  • General Grievous now available from S@H!

    LEGOshop.com news Posted by Huw, May 1 2008 4:45PM 10186-1

The eagerly awaited General Grievous model is now available to order from LEGOshop.com, £65 in the UK, $90 in the US, which for once is a slightly better exchange rate than usual for Star Wars sets.

It'll be a few days before he appears in our product feed, but don't let that stop you using the yellow link on the left to get to LEGOshop.com to order him!

  • Pictures of new Batman sets

New set news Posted by Huw, Apr 22 2008 3:50PM 7888-1

An anonymous reader has sent us pictures of the new Batman sets. They look sweet, particularly the tumbler, which to fans of the recent movies, is probably the most recognisable Batman vehicle.

  • Coastguard sets listed on Amazon

New set news Posted by Huw, Apr 22 2008 1:39PM 7726-1

Djsouthtown wrote to say that the coastguard sets are now listed on Amazon UK. You can see prices, but not order them yet.

  • Factory space sets now available from S@H

    LEGOshop.com news Posted by Huw, Apr 19 2008 5:24AM 10191-1

The two LEGO Factory space sets can now be bought from LEGOshop.com in Europe. However they seem a tad expensive to me. At £70 (or €100 in Germany) for under 1000 pieces they do not compare well with Market Street, for example, which is £10 cheaper and has about 400 more parts. They don't seem to be available from LEGOshop.com in the US, but I suspect they'll be somewhat less than $150, which the exchange rate would suggest given the European prices.

  • New Indy Set

New set news Posted by Huw, Apr 10 2008 5:43PM 7628-1

This was found on the Japanese Toys R Us site, and would appear to be a TRU exclusive.

  • UCS General Grevious Image

New set news Posted by Huw, Apr 8 2008 4:49PM 10186-1

Thanks to AJ Bellinger who has sent us an image of this forthcoming UCS set, which looks pretty good to me.

  • Speed Racers Now Available from S@H

    LEGOshop.com news Posted by Huw, Apr 1 2008 6:10PM 8161-1

The sets are now in the data feed. I picked the yellow/red one up at the weekend in the LEGO brand store in Milton Keynes. It's actually rather good particularly given the price of less than £6 per car (including the 10% Brickish discount). A lot of nice curved pieces and no useless single-use parts.

  • A few news snippets...

    LEGOshop.com news Posted by Huw, Mar 20 2008 5:10PM

It's a bit quiet for news at the moment. I guess the frenzy of early year activity of new sets hitting the shelves is over, as is the toy fair season. Here's a few snippets of recently reported news:

    • bsmarthen advises us that some of the Speed Racers sets are now available in KMart in the USA
    • There are some better pictures of the space Factory sets, 10191 and 10192 floating about so I have added them here
    • Argos in the UK has 25% off all LEGO and'll give you a £5 voucher when you spend over £50 and a £10 one when you spend over £100

Last but certainly not least, a very exciting piece of news:

    • A book with details of 8000 LEGO sets released over the last 50 years is being published in May. This will be particularly interesting to us here at Brickset. We'll at last be able to determine how complete our database is, and maybe even find sets missing in the book. It will be available from LEGO brand stores, S@H and can be pre-ordered now from the publisher's site. As soon as we get a copy we'll post a review here.

  • Indiana Jones video game release dates

    New set news Posted by shima55, Mar 15 2008 9:01AM 7623-1

The newest entry in the LEGO video game series, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, now has definite release dates for the U.S. and U.K. The U.S. release is on June 3, 2008, and the U.K. release is three days later, on June 6, 2008. Mark your calendars and start saving for this highly anticipated game!

  • The reign of the Empire is over

    LEGOshop.com news Posted by shima55, Mar 3 2008 1:43PM 10030-1

Two of the biggest LEGO sets ever, 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer and 10143 Death Star II are currently on sale, possibly clearance, at the U.S. S@H. 10030 is already on the top sellers list, so grab these great sets while you still can, before the only opportunity to get them is Bricklink.

  • Green Grocer now available in U.S.

    LEGOshop.com news Posted by shima55, Mar 3 2008 1:35PM 10185-1

The new Green Grocer set, released over the weekend almost worldwide, is now available for everyone, as it showed up on LEGO S@H this morning for $149.99. 7041 Troll Battle Wheel also showed up, as well as 8953 Makuta Icarax, for a full $5 less than at Toys'R'Us. Sadly, 7041 is currently not available to U.K. consumers, but almost every other 2008 Castle set is, so there are plenty of other sets to choose from.

  • Toy Fair pictures of autumn releases

    Posted by Huw, Mar 2 2008 3:06PM

Pegasi sent me a link to what looks to be the most comprehensive collection of photos of forthcoming sets taken at the (presumably New York) 2008 Toy Fair. Check out the photos on flickr then discuss them here.

  • Green Grocer Set Now Available

    LEGOshop.com news Posted by Grahame, Mar 1 2008 2:07PM 10185-1

The Green Grocer set is now available for Shop At Home customers in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

[Unfortunately our product feed is usually 2 days late, so the 'buy now' link for UK customers isn't appearing here yet. You can still click on the yellow ad. on the left of this page and buy it though -- Huw]

  • New Factory space sets!

New set news Posted by Huw, Feb 28 2008 11:53AM 10191-1

Pictures of two new space sets, first hinted at on the LEGO Factory themes page, are featured in the latest BrickJournal (which, incidentally will be available in print), have turned up on Brickshelf.

There are definitely some AFOL-influenced features on these and it will be interesting to find out who had a hand in designing them. What do you think of them? The ship looks cool but I'm not sure about the monster!
