- Photos - Excellent quality in most cases.

The set database and the owned set/wishlist feature is priceless, especially with the easy to use checkboxing. (Mark as have, mark as wish)

Over 18, Hungary

Overall, I think that the site is great. It has become a new resource to me for tracking amd cataloging the sets that I have and want.

Over 18, United States

I enjoy the database the most. That it was initially drew me to the site when I came out of the Dark Ages. Currently I am subscribed to the RSS feed for the site news and frequent the forums almost daily.

- Easy to use set list maintenance
- Nice interface
- No hyper-active forums with crazy images, signatures, etc.

I love the news you post on home page, and the newest set additions to the database, located under what used to be the New at Lego.com and is now the eBay auctions listed. I feel like you all make it possible for us members to see upcoming sets before a lot of other enthusiasts out there.

Brilliant unrivalled databse

Over 18, United Kingdom

The forum has to be the best lego forum I'm on. The database does it's job excellently and is easily searchable.

Over 18, United Kingdom

New minifigure photo galleries are awesome.
Appreciate the Amazon watch pages.
Extra photos per set is great (I asked for this last time around).

Over 18, United Kingdom

I've mostly used Brickset as an easier means of looking at instructions, and Brickset does that far better than Peeron. I like the addition of the ACM, although I haven't used it much.

Over 18

I like most the "Set I Own" feature.

You do well lego sets database.

Over 18, Italy

The amazon stuff is really useful.

Good reviews of new lego sets. Very much appreciated!!
Database with many items.
Good presentation on home page and other parts of the website. News items are well written and very readable.
General opinion: my favorite site for information on lego.

Over 18

It's a really good site. It's a daily read for me, and an essential reference.

Over 18, United Kingdom

Your site provides early and informed lego news, with good images.

I like the clear listing of set details (top right corner) on the set details pages particularly No. of pieces, price, price per piece and no. of minifigures. The links to instructions and reviews on the set detail page are also very helpful.

I like the Amazon bargain information - for timing my purchases.

Your Minifigure galleries are excellent - and are a great reference.

I like the overall design of the website site. It is clear and uncluttered, and easy on the eye. All links works well.

I like the way you list sets in the Browse section, by year or theme.

I like the Wallpaper repository. I like the fact that you have saved images no longer available at lego.

I like the fact that you cover worldwide events, and have news from correspondents from different countries. It is a pleasant change from USA centric websites. I'm UK based, Portsmouth, actually, so quite local.

Over 18, United Kingdom

The concept of being able to gauge exactly what sets one owns is a homerun here. I like the front page and news displayed.

Over 18, United States

Database, user reviews, speed of news items, bargain news.

Over 18, United Kingdom

What I like most is the accuracy and the amount of data in the database. Easy to search, even for themes and groups of sets.
I also like the "My Sets" feature. And the new ACM is very good.

It also a very good feature that you can filter out the news stuff so you can see news only related to your region. Too bad there are little or non news from Scandinavia or Norway. But that could also be my own fault not giving you any tip about news when I (we) get it...

Over 18, Norway

Set information! It's very good.

Your news stories are good; this is the first place, though not the only place, that I check for news about new sets and Lego in general.

I appreciate the way you honor Lego's (sometimes odd) photo restrictions.

Over 18, Canada

I just check for the latest news on legos in the US. I like the front page that show's the sales.

Over 18, United States

Absolutely love it!! Great source of information for finding lego/ duplo and year produced.
Some of the older images are a tad too small/ fuzzy but I don't think that is your fault.
Keep up the good work.

Over 18, Australia

Enjoy hearing news about new sets (especially collectors and non-official sets), great set database with reviews and links to instructions and other sites (perfect all in one site). I enjoy the reader reviews, marking favorites, sets, etc. Very customizable to my personal tastes.

Over 18, United States

I appreciate the listing of new items. I always (usually on a daily basis) check this site first before I go the Lego site proper. You are usually ahead with the information by several days.

Over 18, United States

Great Lego news. I like staying current on what is coming out and what Lego is up to. I also like the forum to know what others think about Lego products. The reviews give insight into the sets I haven't purchase and help make my decisions.

Over 18, Canada

LOVE the database that lets me track the sets i own, and how we can browse based on year and or theme.

Over 18, United States

I love the news and infomation that's really helpful and well laid out. I also love the addition of the forums as it helps me keep in contact with people. I also think the ebay and other shop feeds are great as they help you source the best price. While Bricklink would be great to add on, I get they are difficult. Keep up the amazing work you are doing!!!!!!!

Over 18, United Kingdom

This site is fabulous at sharing product information for multiple countries! One of the best parts of brickset is the fact that I have gained an incredible understanding of how the Lego Corp, and other businesses (such as Amazon and TRU) sway the LEGO market. I always like to know the unseen factors in a hobby, and brickset is a window into the underbelly of a well-designed LEGO business.

Over 18, United States

I love the forum! It is a great way to interact with follow AFOLs and get tons of information; without that I don't know how I would get that. It creates a sense of community. And I love the database (which is what first brought me to BrickSet).

Over 18, United States

the fact that all the sets are easy to find and in one place, also you can share your collections with other people withiut taking a million pictures

Over 18, United Kingdom

Pretty much everything you guys do here I like! the only critique i had for your site was something that you were already doing which i just didnt know about (new filtering) and after a brief search I saved myself some embarassment (well aside form mentioning it here) Keep up the good work.

Over 18, United States

Excellent inventory of available Lego sets; I use Brickset to keep track of my collection (and my children's). Keep it up.

I also like the News and reviews of sets features.

Over 18, United Arab Emirates

Brickset is possibly the place I go first for Lego news. I love it when you provide info on new set availability. News is the primary reason I come here, which includes sales and discount updates. My secondary reason to come here is to browse new sets.

I'm a very big fan and user of this site. As I indicated above, you run a very extensive and useful database, which is my number 1 resource for set info and the digital backbone of my collection. Images are super and I really appreciate the advanced collection manager, though I still have a lot of data to add. I visit Brickset on a daily basis (more than once a day), I hardly ever skip a day.

Over 18, Netherlands

Quick way to find the sets by their names. I like the site a lot because I can easily order the sets by type, names, year of release etc. The best thing is the rating and review section because I can find the best rated sets that I would buy in the future.

Over 18, United Kingdom

I have enjoyed the forum the most this year. I feel more connected to others in the hobby as a result of participating in the forums as frequently as I do. I enjoy the discussions members start and respond to. I also have provided info on sales to members and learned info regarding sales through the forum and find this to be an invaluable tool. I know other sites are out there sharing sales and deals info but I like the grass roots method of sharing info on the Brickset forums better.

I visit the main site less often now and hardly comment there on news topics as I find the forums more active and less crowded by kids.

Great job as always Huw!

How would one become an admin/contributor to the site?

Over 18, United States

EVERYTHING! This is simply the best lego information, resource, community, and importantly NEWS site there is. It is clean (in both design & behaviour), crisp, uncluttered, accessible, accurate and trustworthy.

The only other site i need apart from this is bricklink to see parts lists.

Over 18, United Kingdom

Your adherence to a specific scope of the LEGO "spectrum" (official LEGO products) is what helps keep your site strong and fosters trust in your content.

The mobile version of the site for smart phones and the ilk is excellent. I think the ways you have made the data available to LEGO fans, both in the public and individual-based modes, is nothing short of brilliant and takes what you have available to an entirely new level.

The addition of the Bargain Watch for Amazon deals is fantastic. I have a folder of ten LEGO sites I open up every day - two of them are Brickset (the home page, and Bargain Watch).

The minifigure database is rather nifty. The amount of time put into this cannot be small. I can't say that I have made use of it anywhere near what it is due. I look forward to making use of it in the future.

You guys rock!

Over 18, United States

Over 18, United Kingdom

I like that you have added the graphs to track the price of currently available sets over time. This is a really helpful feature.

I like that it helps me organize my lego collection and find sets I might be interested in (and along those lines, I know this belongs below, but it might be an extra bonus if I could organize my sets even further, for example, in a super lego house with multiple collectors who share sets).

The organization of the site where I can look at a set and instantly have a lot of information about a specific set is super rad.

I really enjoy this site. I discovered it this year, and I am really happy I found it. I check it every day, it is a nice little bit of fun each morning.

Over 18, United Kingdom

For me the most important thing is having a database which contains all Lego sets ever created. I look things up, for a certain year, of a certain thema,...
It's complete and organized well.

Second thing is the fact I can follow up the sets I own and execute queries on them: for example show me all my minifigures.

I also like the reviews and the links to Eurobrick reviews + the data mining which keeps all kind of stats.

I have never been on the forum, so not really an opinion on that.

Over 18, Germany

The core database of sets is second to none and recording of sets owned and wanted (and the minifigures) is easy to use and invaluable. The news is generally good, but not the main reason I visit the site (I also have an issue with it, see other response below). I do not read the set reviews or use the forum, so I didn't feel right marking them highly and there wasn't a "no applicable" option - so my responses there are probably unhelpful, sorry.

I've only just had a look on the forum yesterday and seems interesting and friendly. The database is great, for the past year i've been trying to sort out a large collection of old lego i've been given, and this has helped, i just wish there was a way of making all the none lego to vanish :-)

I love your news! I wish however that you can give some of the news faster. One example is the monthly build at the stores. By the time Lego send me the email with the information I can't make it to the store to get it. If I knew which one was coming up it would be great.

I really love the buzz that happens on your site when the new series of minifigures hit the streets. I also love the buzz when you introduce new sets.

Not really a negitive so I am putting this here, Please don't assume that people go to the forum. It is really long and time consuming to get the info from it. Maybe post hot topics in the news section.

Over 18, United States

Thanks a bunch for the ACM - it's great! I have a lot of work ahead of me to enter all my sets!

The site is very straightforward to find things, and easy to use. Information is timely, relevant, and up to date.

I also love the forum! There's a wealth of information stored in the heads of all of the members, and it's wonderful to be able to share that. I feel the quality of the forum posts is good for the most part. However, it seems there are some forum users who post a LOT and their posts devolve into basically a one-to-one discussion with another forum poster. There might be a dozen posts within a few minutes from the same 2 users. From what I can gather, much of the time these are younger users (teens perhaps), so I can see where this might be the way they are used to behaving online. I find it distracting, and most of it doesn't really increase the value of the topic - just a bunch of useless banter. I've only seen this in a few places, so it's only happening occasionally, or the mods are removing it before I see it! :) On the whole, the forums are great and most discussion is right on topic..

All of the set and minifigure gallery images are high-quality, and I really appreciate the time taken to get all those.

The changes to the set reviews from last year are great - I feel there is much better quality in the reviews.

I really like that the minifigs for a set show up in the space below the set photo, and that it shows if you have that fig.

Over 18, Canada

All of it. Well... perhaps the one of the best things is the way that you can record your sets and see all the pieces and download those pieces into a list. I enjoy looking at reviews before purchasing sets as gifts. We enjoy looking at all the sets that we don't get in NZ (or can't afford to get sent to NZ).

I also like being able to look up reviews of the sets I'm not familiar with, to get a sense of how they might work and what their pluses and minuses might be. I guess these are the core tools of the site, though, so I guess I have to say that the bells and whistles aren't really as useful to me as the old faithful tools. That being said, I haven't ventured into the forums, which I plan to do one of these days. Anyway, your site is really one of my favorite of all time, because of those tools it offers.

This is really one of my favorite websites in the whole world wide web. I look for news on the homepage a few times a day and view the forums several times a day. The news page is great and I don't usually need to go to any other sites for LEGO news. The only things missing are the unauthorized photos of new sets, but I completely understand and agree with Brickset's policy towards this (but I still want to see them). Thank you so much for putting the age restriction on the forums. I think the forums are well-moderated and respectful. The mature tone of the forums is refreshing. The search is excellent and finding sets is very easy. The database is fantastic and I don't think it has any shortcomings. I enjoy updating my collection and finding news sets to want. The links to peeron, bricklink, and the Eurobricks reviews are very useful. The speed of response is great. I like the data mining section and would like to see more of that. The Amazon Bargain watch feature is so useful--thanks to all involved in that (Huw and Dr. Dave?)

I really like the ease of use and overall look of the site, the forum in particular is very user-friendly IMO. The administrators that I have dealt with are all incredibly friendly and I like that they are always open to suggestions regarding possible improvements to the site.

On a related note, I think it's brilliant that the site is constantly being updated and tweaked based on these suggestions. The Amazon and Argos bargain pages are immensely helpful and save a lot of time trying to find where something is cheapest. I like the fact that although the site is UK-owned and run, it tries to target a broader audience and has a global perspective.

I like the fact that Brickset tries to maintain a good relationship with TLG by respecting their wishes with regard to leaked photos and sets, and that as a result it seems to me to be a more credible site than others. The overall look (lack of advertising and not overly cluttered) of the site and tone of the articles back up this credible impression as well.

The information contained in the database is clear and concise and, as far as I can tell, accurate. The photographs are of excellent quality and I like the feature whereby you can enlarge the images by clicking on them.

I love the Brickset forum, I've made a lot of good friends through there. The dicussions are for the most part interesting and the level of moderation is just about right in my opinion. I think it is an excellent thing that the 16+ rule is in place as I believe the quality of the discussions would severely deteriorate if this were not there.

Overall, I probably haven't remembered to mention here everything I love about this site but suffice to say that I think it is excellent and I now never go elsewhere for Lego news. Keep up the good work!!

I like your integrity (ie not jumping on every leak of info) and the respect that must earn from TLG.
I like that it is (slightly) British biased, or at least feels that way to me (a Brit) or not so American/Europe dominated like say Eurobricks or Classic-Castle.

You respond well to input and suggestions, and the site has a smaller community feel, despite being frequented by many and having over 1000 (?) memebers on the forum.

I like the collecting focus.

The competitions were fun and create interest, but annoying when won by some randomer who we've never heard of or seen since :P#

The forum has been a nice addition and added to the community feel. Helping one another with shopping news, trading etc.

I've enjoyed the interviews with builders/designers/Lego related people, and spotlights on products and events.

Over 18, United Kingdom

Like the personal, interactive use as a database. In this way you are sharing your collection online on an open platform for ideas and reviews about the sets of yours and others collections. I've never found this unique concept with other hobby/collectable sites and the more interactive 'My Sets' is just adds to the fun of browsing which always turns up a forgotten or unknown set to learn about.

The reviews are fun to read and write and help make a community feeling, that users are a welcome part of the website, adding to its content- this is really good, rather than many 'elite' hobby sites that shut you out. Also this review platform brings like minds together as does the forum.

The up to date news is first rate and thoughtful, even tweaked now for country and timezone preferences- lots of hard work by someone? While Shopping tips are very fresh and relevant.

Love the logo, colour and efficiency of how everything always works properly. The pictures are mostly great although some rarer old sets need better jpegs.

Also like the ethos of the site and communications to readers, including; 'wearing a paper bag over your head' to buy the tabloid promotional sets! and the hint that plastic production in China is probably a bad thing.

Your site is very useful. One of my favorite things about this site is your notifications of what is happening around the world regarding Legos. I have saved a lot of money due to your site informing me of sets that were on sale. Thanks!!!

I also like your "discontinued" page, although it is sometimes not up-to-date and the information is inaccurate. For example, you site does not show the Kingdoms Castle (and a couple other Kingdoms sets) as sold out even though Lego shows it that way. Conversely, it has shown the large space shuttle set as sold out at least a couple times, yet it's still for sale. Even still, I do like the idea of showing what's gone.

Over 18, United States

How you moderate postings to ensure that it does not become a forum. The minifig galleries. It will become even better as more are added (star wars, new series of CM's, power miners, etc). The consistency of updates to the site. I dont not always like the updates that are made, but i like that it is always changing! Contests to win prizes. Perhaps a monthly or quarterly contest with lego prizes (hopefully sponsored by Lego).I really like the two contests that you have run already. Perhaps prizes could be relevant to the contest much like the official Lego super hero contest was. Upcoming set release information is fantastic. WE have nabbed many poly bag sets that we otherwise would have missed out on due to stories and/or comments posted here. Thanks for all of your hard work. Feel free to contact me if you need additional information or need any assitance.

Over 18, United States

I think the site is well managed. Updates are made quickly when new information is available. The forum has been very useful to get access to a wide variety of experts from building techniques to collecting knowledge.

Over 18, United States

Database is awesome; this is the main reason I found the site and it's the main reason I keep coming back. All of my potential LEGO purchases are preceded by a check into the database (I am obsessed with price/brick stats), and the sheer extensiveness of the database historical archive is mindblowing.

The forums is lots of fun, and I probably send far too much time there. The news tends to be even better because news posts are usually interesting/useful whereas the forum is hit and miss. The ability to control which type of stories show up in the news feed is even better. Now if only the forum was smart enough to sort through the nonsense forum threads and eliminate from my view the ones that are pointless.

The site is not sleek and pretty, but it's functional, fast, reliable, and not cluttered with lousy graphics. Minimalism is best.

I also feel that the atmosphere is almost always appropriate. The MODs do a great job, and no forum threads ever get out of control (even the silly ones).

I personally really enjoy the adult friendly nature of the site. Being involved in a hobby that isn't common to a lot of adults, it can be nice tip know there are others out there. It's also nice to have some "Adults only" areas, like the forum, to discuss the hobby without the immaturity that is frequently present at other sites. The quality of the discussion is directly influenced by the age restriction.

I also appreciate the "heavy" moderation on the news posts, as some people have apparently not yet learned basic internet protocols for interaction with a public site.

Over 18, United States

I'm not a member, though the ebay bar is tempting me to sign up so at least it's vaguely relevant :). I found you this year when looking for a set database to help me figure out what people were selling on ebay. I've never come up with a blank in the database, it's been very helpful and I come back to it again and again. I occasionally read reviews of the sets. I also like the list of retired sets, so that I can know to go get things I've been holding off on before they're going for double their price on ebay. I don't check it that often though, and find it not always completely accurate. I think things get listed there when lego.com temporarily runs out, I almost had a panic attack when I saw 10218 listed there a couple of months after it was released :).
So, though I don't advertise it to friends and family, I'm on the site now on a daily basis to see what news there may be, I don't check anywhere else, unless you link to other pages in a posting. (But really the Lego is all my daughter's and husband's, really (well, until I get my Robie house in 12 days, not that anyone's counting :) ) ).
I don't think I've used any of the other features.
I like the Amazon watch lists, though I wouldn't be terribly disappointed if they left, Amazon has figured me out as a Lego buyer and sends emails.

The database itself, searching, tracking I own and I want and very quick and elegant without unnecessary clutter! Great work! The forum is a great addition to the site. The new Amazon bargains in News is nice, but, see below.

I love the clean layout and ease of information-finding. I use Brickset together with BrickLink when searching out info about sets, etc, and Brickset, for the info you have, makes it easier. I also like that I can easily keep track of my collection.

Keep up the great work!!!

In short, I like the ability to see what we have, keep track of our collection, read reviews, and meet other LEGO fans.

You guys do all of it well. Keep up the good work.
I like the my sets database, I just don't have the time to keep it up to date - see next question.

There isn't a function on the questionnaire above, for those who DON'T use the forum to say they don't use it. Obviously, it may sway the voting if people are putting a 6 or a 1, depending on which they think represents - "I don't know any better - because I don't use it".
I put a 3, because I didn't want it to get a low mark, but I didn't want it to get a high mark - you know what I mean - sorry :-(

Love the advanced collection Manager and the database. I update the "My Sets" page with every new set to buy, and it's great to have a very detailed inventory.

Everything is done very well with the site, it is a credit to you and your team.

the site is constantly giving news about lots of things and a database indicating sets from every LEGO line is surely useful. Having a link for almost every set's building instruction is great!
