By in United States,

I'm still on the fence about it. The price tag is making me shy away, as I thought it would be a little more detailed.

It sort of just looks like a $60 mini-figure pack to me, but I also suppose that was sort of the original idea too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Chinese take-out boxes!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This looks like a quality representation. I don't love the price, but 7 licensed figures, the price seems about right.

I can't wait to get this since I just started watching the show.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My "meh" senses are tingling...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lame.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice set and great figures but I think this is a miss for me at that price. I like the show but there's just not enough there.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The poorest transition of fig design from Ideas proposal to official set imo

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think its a really good representation of the show however its, for me, not worth the price tag, there aren't enough iconic objects from the show and they should have given bernadette different coloured outfit to avoid her and penny looking too similar...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow! That's pretty awesome and a nice allotment of minifigs! Woo Hoo!

*They even got Sheldon sitting in his "spot"*

I'll be getting one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As someone who doesn't watch the show, I would prefer they spent the money on interior detail rather than mini-figures. Without those, there is not much to it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think this marks the end of me collecting all of the Cuusoo/Ideas sets. I'm not a fan of the show and, for this price, I'm certainly not a fan of the set. I am looking forward to the marble maze, though!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, I love it. I wanted two (one for display, one for inclusion in our LEGO town), now have to find a way to get three (the third one for the parts) without my wife getting mad at me.

Only criticism is I wish the nanofigs weren't solid colors but were actual figures instead.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice set.
They got Sheldon in his "spot" on the couch, but any fan knows that Raj usually ends up sitting on the floor, not in the chair!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So want this set

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There are 7 minifigs and 479 pieces. City sets have the same price point for this amount. Pieces are a little bulkier but less figs. New prints on faces and bricks. This is far from overpriced. What is misleading you is the scale, since this is a living room not a vehicle or something that is larger in real life.

Just try to get a SW or Marvel set with the same amount of stuff for this price.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I agree, the price per piece ratio is really high, but if it is like the other ideas sets it will contain at least a whopping 29 PRINTED pieces, yay! (minifig parts included)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sigh. I like it and would like to have it, but not at that price. That is not more than a >$40 set in my opinion. While it is licensed, this isn't like TMNT or LotR or other themes that involve lots of interesting new pieces. If this set was more affordable, I would jump on it, but as is I might just use it as inspiration for something of my own creation. Do like the Howard and Raj minifigs, though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My interest all depends on how many of the details are created by stickers. If they are printed, I'll probably get it. If stickers, probably not.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@LegoAthos: Judging by the HD pic, the only sticker that I could spot was the entryway pillar. The rest look to be printed. :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think the price/piece count is about right, TBH. ~500 for $60 with all the licensed figs seems good, but the problem is that the piece count comes from a bunch of tiny 1x pieces. If this set was say $50, I would pick it up easily. Price/piece is usually a good judgement, but when all the pieces are 1xs, then that ratio becomes quite skewed. I honestly think they jacked the price up a bit in hopes that BBT fans would purchase the set, and they're hoping to make more sales from a broader audience. I think they could have added the front door or the kitchen or something though to make the pricepoint more appealing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks like something that fans of the show will love, but for non-fans, there's really not much that sells this set, except for perhaps some interesting new torso prints. I agree that this just seems like an over-blown figure pack. And now with LEGO Dimensions there's a better way of just releasing licensed characters as Minifigures, so hopefully this'll be the end of this type of thing on LEGO Ideas, but I doubt it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like how they used the gun piece to angle the lamp on the desk! That's a technique I have never seen before!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@inversion: Of course it varies, but there are SW and Marvel sets that have better price ratios than this one, for example the AT-AP from last year. I agree that the scale is a bit misleading, but at the same time I think that a living room set that consists largely of small basic bricks and tiles should be less than a vehicle composed of larger or more specialized pieces, even if the brick count is the same.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@ModularRoger AT-AP only had 5 figs and 3 of them were the droids which I never count as genuine figs. 7 uniquely printed figs is a LOT compared to that.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I love how close it is to the original Ideas set, it's basically a 1:1 transition from proposed idea to full set. Yes, 50 € would have been nicer but I am a fan and those 10 € more don't kill it for me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It is the nearly the same as the submission. Neat.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have a bad feeling about the stickers. In an interview with Lego regarding stickers, they basically said that if you're going to include some stickers, they might as well go all-in and fill up the whole sheet.

My biggest disappointment is that some of the female minifigures are showing some skin on the torso, which makes it harder to re-use them.

I think if they simply covered all the studs on the floor with tiles, it would make it much more presentable. Even the big simpson's house has all the floors tiled. If I get this, that would be the first mod I would try. Or move the whole crew into an empty floor in my Corner Cafe. :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hmm, I might be replacing a few parts with different colours on that. I bit too much brown.

Otherwise, great.

Gravatar
By in United States,

the table and room are a little small, but this set looks awesome!

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

omg, I had such high hopes for this... I like the show, and was looking forward to this, but they did a crappy job! At least they could have given us action figures on the shelf colored to look like Comic book heroes, not just single color microfigs in blue and red... so disapponted...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Its barely changed! So happy and excited!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

$59.99 US / EUR 59.99? - Let me guess, that'll be £59.99GBP.
Regardless of price, as a physicist I relate to these characters in so many ways, and absolutely love the show. A definite purchase from me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Missing Brick - when has a figure outside of CMF ever go for that low of a price? Just look at eBay for any licensed figures (which these would be) and you'll easily see most new figures will go for upwards of $10 easily. I'm not sure what that is compared to pounds, but definitely more than what you are estimating them to be worth.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm confused. All of these updates on the site from a few weeks ago show all of the different sets that had reached 10,000 supporters on Ideas and were being submitted for the review. Then, on that video which showed the new set chosen by the designers, that ball maze thingy was chosen and the other candidates were different. Now I see that another winner from a different set of candidates was chosen. How are there two winners?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Actually Doctor Who has gotten pretty huge over here in the United States.

I'm actually really worried about being able to get myself a copy of that set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Buying 2 myself.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Everyone who is planning on buying the set, just pause and ask yourself..
is this really worth it?
It's just 1 room and a few characters for more than 60$. The set itself is boring. It's just a bunch of minifigures sitting around eating food.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks like I'll also be investing in an Iron Man and Captain America statuette to replace the red and blue ones on the shelf.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@legos1731 - The Big Bang Theory was chosen in a previous round of Lego Ideas. It takes a while for the set to go from the "winning" phase into planning and eventually selling phase. The maze set will likely go on sale several months to a year from now, after it gets the official design treatment.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really hope the Dr. Who set isn't ridiculously priced like this set it. I mean it has a lot of details but not enough to make me buy it at that price point. No specialized pieces, no hard to get pieces in rare colors, and the show in general is annoying. I don't think I have ever been able to sit through an entire episode before determining how utterly stupid it is and flipping over to something else. Deffinately a skip for me and not even close to the quality of other projects like the Exo Suit. This set is what most people like to call "Fan Service".

Gravatar
By in Canada,

This will appeal to fans of the show, no doubt. For the rest of us, not so much. I despise this show, so I'll pass. Seems a pretty hefty price for it, I'm assuming it will be $79.99 Canadian?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

What is the whiteboard picture/drawing? (Far left of the picture)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

We have it on good authority that the UK price will be £49.99, although this has not been absolutely confirmed.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Also, @legos1731, there is no "winner" from each round, in the sense that the projects are competing against one another. Theoretically, all sets in a review period could pass, just as all could fail.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Not as cool as the original idea. That one has more details.
I was especially looking forward to the printed mini-minifigures and a super small size Death star.
But still, for the price it is a good set. Obivously some concessions had to be made.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@SimonJohnson - the whiteboard will be Sheldon's Pictionary clues for "Higgs Boson Particle".

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I appreciate every LEGO set that doesn't look like a children toy from 100 m away, but I can't stand the show. Wait and see if I might get this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

No Game of Thrones "Winter is coming" sword by the door? That's always the first thing I notice when I'm watching the show...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Honestly people, some people like certain things others don't. If you don't like the show or set fine, but there are people that do. I will be buying the set because I like it and I like the minifigures. They will be a great themed edition to my collection. I just don't understand why the bashing has to happen just because someone likes something you don't. To me, this set is worth the price. I am sure there are licensing costs involved and isn't something that can be spread out over multiple sets like the Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc. Sets

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Doesn't Raj usually sit on the ground? Haha anyways looks pretty good

Gravatar
By in United States,

OK EVERYONE LISTEN HERE!
IF YOU ARE ANOUT TO COMMENT ANOUT HOW MUCH YOU HATE THIS SHOW, PLEASE STOP.
No one wants to hear people griping about how awful TBBT is, in their opinion. If you are upset that this got made into a set, too bad. No sense spoiling it for others just out of spite. If you are upset that the set is not detailed enough and has poor mini figures, that's okay. THAT'S what Brickset comments are for, not for hating on the show. I am sick and tired of seeing every other comment on every TBBT article be about how much you hate the show. And to those who say it's an awful set to go with an awful show, well, you'd say that even if it was the best set ever produced. You'd hate me if I commented about how Star Wars is so terrible and the sets are stupid EVERY SINGLE TIME there was a Star Wars article. (Just an example, I actually love Star Wars). Some of us happen to like TBBT and have been waiting a long time for the set release.

Now, my opinion of the set:
It looks good. I have a similar problem to some other people in that it is kind of speedy for what it's got. I kinda thought there would be more. Of course, I was hoping for the whole apartment, even though that would be almost impossible and not to mention not in the original project. Who knows, though, maybe they'll make it a series. Sorry to burst your bubble with that last sentence, TBBT Haters, but Brickset is not the place for you to complain so much about the show and relatively little about the set that was actually relevant.

I have very strong opinions about this set and this site.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the show and I think the set looks fine. I want to get a hold of those mini figs so bad.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

£49.99 seems a lot but you've got to remember this is a licensed set, it'll probably come in a cuusoo/ideas higher than usual quality box and have a higher than usual quality perfect bound instruction book.
I really hope all those pieces are printed pieces, I've a feeling they probably are. I quite like the show and will almost definitely be getting this set.
I actually think there is a lot of nice attention to detail if you look closely.

Gravatar
By in United States,

LordofLego, the comment immediately below yours is so fitting. You're going to have to stomach more criticism. It's a laugh track dependent show. There are scenes on YouTube with the laugh track removed. The show isn't funny. Sorry.

Now that this tripe has been revealed, maybe we can at long last have a look at the Creator Ferrari F40?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Blimey, you'd think that when people don't like this show they'd surely skip this article...

Anyway: I kind of like the show, but am not a big enough fan to want this set, certainly not at this price. Is it too expensive? I don't think so, ideas sets usually are on the more expensive side, being limited runs and having a luxury package, and this is a licensed set too.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I like the show, watched every episode so far. But as a set - I think I'll pass, the room seems too small compared to the real thing, especially for this price, but the minifigures are nice. I'll decide when the set is released in my country, if the price is reasonable, I might get it.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

This is fantastic! I'm a huge fan of the show and have been waiting ages for this! I can't wait to add more little details, like the rubix cube tissue box that was in the original submission and the Iron Man and Captain America nano figs. I'd love to have alternate whiteboards to include the 'friendship algorithm' and the 'rock paper scissors lizard spock' chart. I'm going to moc at least the rest of the living room to include the tv and their desks - and the GOT sword of course! It looks fantastic, and the minifigures are excellent. I was really expecting them to scale back the set and maybe only include the guys, so this is a very welcome surprise :) Day one purchase for me!

Now to see the Doctor Who set! :D

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Didn't like the show, this is even worse. What is fun about a sit-com living room. You can easily change this one for a scene from Friends or Married... with children even. But the result will be the same. Not much...

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I laugh out loud during every show. I love all the story lines and watch every episode I can. It was so great to find out yesterday that Sheldon is a fellow Pisces.

I am really looking forward to getting this set. I am pleased that the set as released very closely resembles the design as submitted although I thought the double helix DNA model should have been included using the flexible components.

Looking forward to the release date.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Love the set and love the minifigs. Would have liked a slightly bigger apartment and a lower price point, but beggars can't be choosers and it's pretty amazing that we're getting this at all. The ire it is inspiring in all the haters is a free bonus! :)

Speaking of whom, the comment above about a supposed "laugh track" is the third such that I have seen here this week. *What* laugh track?! It is common knowledge that the show is filmed in front of a live studio audience. There's a feature about it on the Season 4 blu-ray, and there is a dedicated 'Tickets' page on the official site:

---------------------------
The Big Bang Theory is recorded at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California. You must be at least eighteen years old to attend a taping of The Big Bang Theory. Tickets are limited and are in very high demand. Tickets are available for free from TVTickets.com. Season 8 of The Big Bang Theory has now wrapped. Season 9 will begin taping in August with tickets likely available in July.
---------------------------

But I guess I'm wasting my time imploring trolls to stick to the facts? :|

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Ah, very good. There's finally a new release this month that I'm not interested in :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Set looks as bad as that show is

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like this set. It's a nail in the coffin with regards to me trying to collect all the Ideas sets. I can pass on this and possibly many more Ideas sets and concentrate on Star Wars instead :-D

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I am personally so sick of 'ideas' sets just being used to push new franchise relationships to sell minifigures. Would be great to see 'ideas' that were more original than 'make minifigures of the franchise I like'. Ever since the minifigure craze has taken off (minifigures being listed on the sides of boxes), set design has suffered severely.

Maybe one day people will grow tired of all this franchising crap and LEGO can get back to quality set design being the hallmark of their brand.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dear god Big bang Theory made it to 9 seasons but they cancelled actual good TV shows like Firefly after 1?! What is this world coming to?

Gravatar
By in United States,

For those saying that this is an awful show and awful set, IMDB wouldn't agree with you, as they gave the show an 8.5/10 rating. And neither would TV.com who gave the show an 8.9/10. And finally, the over 14 million people who watched the FIFTH season premiere wouldn't agree with you either. My point: just because YOU don't like the show doesn't mean you have to comment about how bad it is and it's not funny and so on, because lots of OTHER people do.

And I actually really like the set, not just for the mini figs but for the actual set itself. So I will be getting this set sometime near when it comes out, and I think the price is fine as it IS only one set and LEGO had to get the rights to make it, so they would of course have to make it a little more expensive then if it wasn't licensed.

PS: Sorry if there are any spelling errors as I am typing really fast on my iPad right now :P

Gravatar
By in United States,

The show does have a laugh track, even though it is filmed in front of a live audience. The show is so funny that I didn't realize it had a laugh track until I learned about it somewhere. Mad TV maybe?

Still love the show and strongly dislike this set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome! Now bring on the Golden Girls!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It looks good - I particularly like the inclusion of the thermostat on the wall.
The Leonard and Penny figures could be better, though.
And the price is a bit YIKES.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I don' t care about all the negative comments, I don't watch the show but I'm going to buy it! It's Lego for gods sake, and we all love Lego!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh yeah! What does the Chinese writing say?

Gravatar
By in Greece,

Lame set for a lame series...

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Hello everyone,
I am a AFOL and a fan television series, I love the idea of ??having TGGT a LEGO set. I was looking forward to leave this set and as most have disappointed us a lot, and even desirable lego serious postpones departure and incorporate some details to give more quality product 8 year old is going to buy a toy 60 € + transport,
- We all expected a bit out of the kitchen, the refrigerator and the nearby furniture ...
- Is unforgivable existence of stickers, stickers NOT want, it is better not have those details.
- Is unforgivable absence of the DNA spiral, it was the most beautiful of the set! Also was a franchise two hoses?
- It is unforgivable that the two microfigs ARE undecorated!
- The handle of the Green Lantern was much better the original project, it is also that little piece is a franchise?
- The holders have to be white!

Lego has had two big hits, Ghostbusters and the Birds, I hope this set off delayed to incorporate these little details!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just think it is missing the flags from around the world :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

People who are freaking out because others don't like the show. Everyone is entitled to their own views and opinions on things. Whilst it's fair to say you enjoy it, and disagree with them, aiming personal style attacks isn't really the right thing to do.

__

Now, saying that, I do love this show. Yet, I feel this set is a bit... Lackluster. Yes, SEVEN minifigures is fantastic. And, yes, the living room is iconic, but I feel the set offers not much more then the ability to be displayed as it is. It also looks a tad smaller then I'd like it to be, especially for £50.

If the desks and laptops were added to give it a touch more detail, along with a slightly larger room would have made it a tad more appealing, in my eyes.

I'd more then likely still buy it, though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@SammyPanda Yes, people ARE entitled to their own opinion, but it's not fair for them to say how the set is awful and the show is awful every other comment. If someone already said how you feel, don't post the EXACT same thing as the comment above, it's just annoying for the people who like the show and set. If I didn't really like the Superheroes theme, I wouldn't go to every post about a superhero set and complain about how the comics suck, movies suck, and sets suck. (And that's just an example, I have no beef against Marvel or DC). I think it's fine if people post their opinion, but don't just say that it's an awful set and that's it, it's pretty rude.

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

I am so glad my ideas vote came to reality .. this is by far the best lego ideas set .. :) after Exo Suit another jewel for my collection .. love it love it :) can´t wait .. hopefully there will be enough for everyone .. so excited!

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

I must just laugh on the hater comments above .. you do realize that for almost the same amount of money you can now buy 3 almost creator like birds which are totally overprized and everyone is like OMG basic bricks what a wonderfull set .. honestly? I don´t even know if it sells tbh never actually seen anyone buing it .. unlike exo suit or reserach institute or even ghost busters .. The TBBT set is simply fantastic and yes 7 minifigs!!! AMAZING .. if you did not vote for it and hate it just don´t buy it but there are at least 10000+ people who do love it :P .. actually i am really glad that sets like "piano" etc .. never make it ...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I would like it if they could incorporate the lego set into the show - although I can't imagine how. Sure some dream sequence or bizarre physics could be used to allow it to happen. Considering lego has occasionally featured in the show it is only fair they get a lego set of the show for their endorsement. Still not tempted to buy it thought - cost is prohibitive.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Bricklunch That's what I was thinking, and I have a feeling they may stick a set on the bookshelf or desk or something in the show.

Gravatar
By in Serbia,

oh, and I see it has stickers... so sad :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

Blah, a room with seven nice figures, a bunch of nice printed parts, and it's $60. This would make no sense to anyone else, but if they included a Stephen Hawking minifig, I would buy it. I once guest-starred as Stephen Hawking in a TBBT skit...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the show.
Love the set.
Going to buy multiples.

/story.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Howard isnt even wearing a roll neck, could of coloured the head (neck) piece i thought

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

awesome!!!!
I'm going to buy this set if it's 60 euro or not.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Hello,
Black chair is ugly and poorly designed, is the worst of the set along the long, narrow telescope. The telescope also is very poorly designed with parts that are good for an amateur but for a LEGO designer had to be better provided and better made with other parts.
In a second version of luxury!
I think he could give up the chair and the telescope to change ...

White holders,
DNA spiral,
No stickers with printed painting,
Microfigs painted!
