By in United States,

Something tells me the orchid one isn't going to make it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So many choices, and yet so few that are likely to be chosen!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I know it won't happen but a Stargate set would be cool

Gravatar
By in Australia,

They probably wouldn’t make it: but I really want LEGO Asterix and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I like the Ghibli vignettes as well.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The only prediction I'm confident making is that some misguided soul is going to accuse Lego of stealing the orchid idea.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

"SolarSystem SolarSystem SolarSystem!!!"
as Benny would say

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

How on earth have some of these got to 10000 votes? Fair enough they are better than anything I could come up with, but be fair.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

they'll pick the one that appeals the most to adults who aren't into Lego

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

Huge pirate fan here. So Pirate tavern for me!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm liking;
The Garden and Greenhouse
Pirate's Tavern
NASA SR 71

The Lego Emergency Box would make quite a nice GWP but not a retail set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't wait for an unreasonably low amount of one set to be chosen from this vast pool. I'd say the orrery is one of the most likely, but I'm still holding out for Baba Yaga, as unlikely as it is.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Personally, I can't see dropping money on any of these.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This isn’t the first time an Avatar: The Last Airbender project has made it to review (nor, if it were chosen, would it be the first time LEGO has made sets from this property), but with the upcoming Avatar projects in the pipeline there might be a better business case for new Avatar sets than there was before (with the caveat they’re already doing sets based on an entirely different licensed franchise called Avatar, of course).

I don’t pretend to know what’s likely, but having passed on the original A:TLA sets (I hadn’t watched the series yet and didn’t know how great it was), I’d dearly love another chance at it. But lots of these are beautiful, and I’m sure I’ll appreciate whatever they do, though given the size of lots of these there’s no telling whether I’ll be able to afford it (or them). Perhaps the Rubik’s Cube…

Gravatar
By in United States,

A lot (all?) of these are incredibly cool, but I don't see more than a couple that even stand a chance of being approved. Whether it's due to size, subject matter (too narrow an audience, inappropriate content, etc.), licensing issues, or stepping on the toes of another existing theme... I don't think most of these have a shot. That's not to say there aren't some great things here, and there's at least 5 I'd probably buy, but I don't think Lego will put many, or any, of these through.

If I had to pick, I think the Magic Bookends has the best shot.

But would Miss Diane be interested....

Gravatar
By in South Korea,

I really hope that the rubiks cube manages to pass the review.

Gravatar
By in South Africa,

Does anybody else find it ironic that JWST's Ideas review, and first full-color images and data, both come out tomorrow?

Gravatar
By in Panama,

Am I the only one that likes the Great Coral Reef and adding DC Aquaman characters with Spongebob, Ninjago Seabound and Atlantis minifigures????

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the Meeting Point/train station. This feels like it can fit really well into a city/modular layout, and it doesn't actually require having a train, it can just imply it. It could easily be repurposed into something else, and the part selection looks pretty awesome. Hard to know given that the Bricklink round 3 train station also is getting made though.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

i am rooting for the steampunk explorers but i think the winner would be something like the first or the 6th one.

but to be honest, most of theese... I just don't understand, how did they get 10k votes?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wish Lego would actually consider the SR71 but I’m not holding my breath.

Would also happily take another train. The world could always use another one!

Otherwise, not much that I would pick up.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I like a lot of these ideas!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like several - eager to see the results

That orchid base is inspired. I like the official one, but this is a nice touch

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Some nice builds but nothing worth buying.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I have no idea which one(s) will make it, I cannot really see any of these as official sets (there are some nice MOCs among them though).

Gravatar
By in United States,

whichever one or two they choose will most likely be out of my price range, so *shrug*

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If Asterix doesn't get through these people are crazy!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

My quick take, (as someone who generally doesn't care for tv/videogame licenses and is unimpressed by the myriad of expensive detailed buildings):
-Coral reef looks excellent, similar to the other floral builds yet distinctive enough to be its own concept. The manta rays and fish add to it, that there is active life here, not just a static scene. (On the floral front, the terrariums look like succulents in a glass case. Easy to ignore.)
-(Johnny 5 looks like a fun build, but I'd think there's too much crude language associated with him for it to pass. Then again, "In a world where James Bond and the Simpsons are popular Lego themes...")
-James Webb telescope look good, and this is the time to announce it, now that JWST actually made it to orbit, opened up correctly, and has us excited for its first images. The only hitch would be if TLG was already working on a JWST internally that conflicts with this. (Edit: The fact that JSWT successfully deployed and began aligning its mirrors by the end of February, during the review process, probably helped make the case that this would be a set representing a successful spacecraft not a dud. Most people don't want a Lego set of a dud.)
-Soyuz looks great, and would be a lot of fun to stand up next to the Saturn V we already have. But I doubt Roscosmos will be eager to share their brand unless it comes with a massive influx of cash, and TLG may be hesitant to endorse anything related to Russia while the conflict in Ukraine continues.
-Union Pacific Big Boy would be a gift to train fans. I'm not a train fan, but it looks good to me.
-Blackbird looks cool, and would be a unique build, but is a "NASA" banner on the tail enough to get it released? As a space build it's bland, and it's only interesting as an airplane, and lots of planes that hit 10K votes have gotten ignored.
-Castle outpost just looks a lot like existing sets, so probably not enough to set it apart as a new set

I would guess that if we don't get another detailed building or tv/film set, we'll get the Coral Reef or JWST, with Big Boy in 3rd. I'd be pleased if any of those 3 got released, though Soyuz would probably be the only one to persuade me to shell out IDEAS-level cash.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Sherrif's Office would be the only interesting for me here.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm rooting for the coral reef: what an excellent parts pack that would be!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw, why does the first letter of most project links go to a set that got 10,000 votes in a previous review period?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Of all of these, I think the Great Barrier Reef has the greatest chance of being selected (although I imagine the final product would be somewhat scaled down).

I LOVE the Ghibli set proposal though, and I would love to see TLG do something with it. Out of all of the licensed ideas on this list, I feel like it has the broadest appeal (outside of maybe the Avatar: The Last Airbender idea).

The Gremlins or It's A Wonderful Life sets could be a fun holiday follow-up to last year's Home Alone set, but I still don't think either one is super likely.

Gravatar
By in United States,

We could make a whole graveyard of Zelda projects that have gotten denied at this point,

Gravatar
By in United States,

It’s unlikely, but I’d love to see Steampunk Explorers chosen (or better yet made into a theme for a year or two). Revive Time Cruisers and make it a variation on that.

I know I’m just dreaming…

Gravatar

@PixelTheDragon said:

Accurate, and sad. I would pay an irresponsible amount of money for official LoZ sets. Clearly, Nintendo and Lego are working together, and the number of Mario sets make me think that line is doing well. I don't get why we haven't gotten other sets for other Nintendo franchises yet. That being said, if Nintendo isn't green-lighting LoZ sets on their own, I don't see why it's even worth the effort of putting forth an Ideas LoZ set.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

I will prepare myself to be letdown again.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Quite a few sets I'm interested in this time around.
I'm rooting for Avatar, Stargate, Asterix. The dojo, steampunk explorers, riverside scholars and Gremlins sets are also quite cool.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The fact that this is yet another review round that had a Zelda set make it shows how strong the demand for a Zelda theme is. Granted, whether or not we get a Zelda theme isn't Lego's decision to make, but with how well the Super Mario sets are doing, Nintendo must be at least considering the idea.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

There are a lot of similar ideas and IP's already on the market, which rules out a few. I have my fingers crossed for Johnny 5, but I think the Magic Bookends has one of the better chances.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Clockwork Solar System (an orrery) - something I've been waiting for, for some time. It's an original idea and not reliant on licencing nor is it a highly-detailed building. It also allows Lego to show itself off as more than a purveyor of brick-built sculptures.......

Gravatar
By in United States,

Another Hyrule Castle... can Lego maybe just confirm/deconfirm whether or not they're doing one themselves? It's getting old seeing another awesome Hyrule Castle rendition in every Ideas review knowing that it's going to fail again.

EDIT: And this isn't even the best one so far lol

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hoping for Gremlins and/or Moominhouse :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm very rarely interested in licenced products so can't really comment on those. Of the non licenced ones, I think probably solar system has the best chance.

The coral reef is great but it doesn't look underwater. And I don't think they would want to make a set of an underwater scene without some attempt at depicting water. As one of the judges on Lego Masters said, doing underwater scenes in Lego is hard (possibly Brickman in the Australian version?).

I like the garden and greenhouse. But I think it's a very unlikely pick. Although that a frame cabin got picked and it didn't seem likely so you never know.

I think it's fairly safe to say that the botanical ones and the Russian rocket aren't getting selected.

We've seen better versions for sure.

But I think the Link to the Past style would fit the Lego brand even better. The set doesnt have to be huge, just Link, Zelda (maybe his uncle) and their little cottage from the start of the game (plus at least 3 cuccos!)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Sanderson Sister's cottage be (one of) the winner(s), with the Hocus Pocus sequel coming out in just a few months, so it'll be fresh in people's minds. Beyond that, really couldn't say for sure

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Once again, there are a bevy of outstanding creations in there. Personally, the one I would most likely buy is the orrery (Clockwork Solar System). I think my chances are 1%.

I like most of the buildings with the Steampunk being my favourite (apparently Asian architecture is all the rage lately). I guess it would be time now for Lego to do something steampunk - I think there was a little bit of it in Chima a while back. I would go for a whole theme of steampunk - and there is almost no limit at what they can do really. The Wonderful Life is also very good but (to me) the bridge would have to be improved a little bit.

Being a space lover I would obviously like to see the Soyuz Rocket and the NASA SR-71 Blackbird (of course it's better to call it 'NASA - as a research vehicle' than a cold war spy plane) but I know better and I keep my expectations near the ground.

I like the reef but I suppose it would be incredibly tedious to build and a nightmare to dust.

I would also definitely go for an Asterix set - just as a nostalgia thing as I read all the stories. Lego could also develop an entire theme around the Romans/Greeks and I would buy that.

Finally, since what I like hardly ever get picked up (and that's good for the wallet as this year is very expensive already), I will say best of luck to everyone involved!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

A LOT of good projects this time around. I love the Avatar: The Last Airbender one, the Clockwork Solar System, the Steampunk Explorers, Baba Yaga, and The Meeting Point.

I'm not sure how likely the Avatar project is. It's SORT of a remake of a previous set (though more a recreation of the same scene, this time including Appa the Sky Bison). But the previous version was severely disappointing, and this is a much better take on it. Avatar: The Last Airbender might be a good franchise for Lego to get back on board with with several animated movies and a live-action streaming series in the works. And there might be some confusion with... Lego Avatar, but then, that didn't stop Lego from producing sets based on the TV show Friends while having their own in-house theme with the same name!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Wait, wasnt Baby Yaga house already canceled?
The only one that I think will pass will be the Rubik cube.

Good question -- I cut and pasted the text from the Ideas blog post.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

My prediction:
The ones I like (and would certainly buy) won't get chosen. And the ones they choose won't interest me.
Going by past experience from recent review results, I would rate the probability of the above happening to be roundabout 99.99 percent.

The remaining 0.01 percent will be that they don't choose anything this time.

ah, Benny and his woolly hat...
that would be a very niche Ideas set

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am definitely rooting for Steampunk Explorers. That is a genre that seems to have been overlooked by Lego.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Rubik’s cube is really the only one I can see making it. The Johnny 5 looks cool, but it’s too old of a property to draw interest. Lots of cool ideas, just already similar sets available, or not big enough IP’s/

Gravatar
By in United States,

Could we finally get a zero passes round?

Gravatar
By in Japan,

Land ahoy, clockwork solar system and pirate tavern all look interesting and well designed, and I’d be happy with any one of them passing!

Gravatar
By in Austria,

JWST is 100% gonna make it, considering this coincides with the first images being released tomorrow (and one today). So that's pretty cool.

This review has so many awesome submissions. Shame that none of the ones I want the most are gonna make it- they never do :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

1. Land Ahoy - Would make an excellent display piece and it's a unique twist on the 18+ style sets. But LEGO will reject it because they think it's too complicated for a non-Lego fan to build.

2. Great Coral Reef - Impressive build, but at that size & price, it's not recognizable enough to sell. Might get made if they shrink it down 75%, but even that's a very slim chance.

3. Hyrule Castle 30th Anniversary - Does LEGO's prevent them from making just Mario characters, or all Nintendo characters? But even if they could make it, they won't.

4. Terrariums - Too similar to the Botanial sets. Not a chance.

5. Avatar: The Last Airbender - Not a chance.

6. Clockwork Solar System - Great build, would make a unique & educational set that AFOLs have been wanting for a long time. Not a chance.

7. The Dojo - Nice model. On the 1% chance it passes, LEGO will redesign it so it no longer connects to Ninjago City.

8. Hocus Pocus - This is probably too much of a niche/cult movie for the set to sell that well. Pretty much no chance.

9. Naruto: Ichiraku Ramen Shop - Again, too much of a niche to sell in America and Europe, or at least LEGO will think that. No chance.

10. Motorized Johnny 5 - Wow, and I thought those last two were niche intrests. This might have sold in the 1960s or whenever that show was airing, but today? Not a chance.

11. James Webb Space Telesceop (JWST) - LEGO seem unwilling to make any space sets not based on the NASA Apollo or space shuttle programs. Not a chance.

12. The LEGO Emergency Box - Um, what is this? Not a chance.

13. LEGO Rubik's Cube (Working) - Cool novelty item that might appeal to that 18+ crowd LEGO is chasing. This might actually get made. Small chance though.

14 Brooklyn Nine Nine - I'd give this a moderate chance based on past sitcom sets, but I doubt LEGO wants to touch anything police related outside of City. No chance.

15. Steampunk Explorers - Not a chance. Sorry steampunk fans, the Ninjago Skybound wave was the closest thing you were ever going to get.

16. Moominhouse ?????? - Is this from a 1970s preschooler show? Not a chance.

17. Castle Outpost - Too similar to the 90th anniversary castle; not a chance.

18. Downtown Records - Modular MOCs have never passed before. Not a chance.

19. Orchid - Not a chance, obviously.

20. Soyuz Rocket - Again, it's not Apollo or space shuttle. I don't even think this is the first time a Soyuz rocket has gotten 10,000 votes and been rejected. Not a chance. Also, the fact that it has to do with Russia isn't helping it either.

21. LEGO Ghibli - Probably the one anime thing that has a decent chance of selling well outside of Japan. But it will almost certainly get rejected.

22. Baba Yaga - Even less likely than the one above.

23. The Meeting Point - Not a chance.

24. Pirate Tavern - Would make a cool set, but LEGO will reject it because they already gave us the shipwreck island set.

25. The Riverside Scholars - Not a chance.

26. Union Pacific "Big Boy" - Not a chance. There may be a reason LEGO didn't make any more train display sets after the Crocodile locomotive.

27. Magic Bookends - Not a chance.

28. Asterix the Gaul - Not a chance.

29. Stargate - Not a chance.

30. McDonald's Franchise 1955-1969 - Not a chance.

31. The Three Investigators - Is this even based on anything? Not a chance.

32. NASA SR 71 Blackbird - It's associated with the US Air Force; not a chance. Yes, I know it's partially used by NASA, and it's not built for combat. But LEGO won't care about that nuance.

33. Gremlins - Not a chance.

34. Sheriff's Office Wild West - Not a chance.

35. It's a Wonderful LEGO Life - Much as I hate to say it, this movie is just too niche for the set to sell. Not a chance.

36. The Garden and Greenhouse - What would that cost as a set, $399? Not a chance.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not sure they will pick any of these. There's definitely a few I like, but I don't think "Wow!" when I seen any.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Unlikely, even though we’ve had one before, but I’d love that McDonald’s.

First of all it is from wonderful books by Tove Jansson. Her writing is definitely not for preschoolers, the later books are rather for adults.
If redesigned and with minifigs added it would be wonderful set.
But I guess that there is no chance for it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Baba Yaga (quite cool) and the Solar System (...) are the most likely candidates IMO. I'm a big Zelda fan. But obviously if they were going to do that, they wouldn't shove it in the Ideas theme. They'd do it themselves.

Hayabusa, Curiosity Rover, International Space Station, and The Women of NASA would like a word. They have the Ulysses Space Probe and an Exo Suit with them.

It makes sense that the two programs that were flagships of space travel for 40 of the last 60 years would have a lot of space history associated with them.

Gravatar
By in Montenegro,

Oh I want Land Ahoy. I really, REALLY want Land Ahoy. It’s absolutely stunning. It’s unlike anything I’ve seen before with Lego which is what part of the Ideas theme has always been about to me.

I’ve also got a soft spot for The Meeting Place but I don’t think it’ll make it sadly as it’s too similar to the Modulars and Lego don’t seem to appreciate Ideas sets encroaching on that theme. More than happy to be wrong on ghat though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Unlike previous reviews, I'm actually interested in a few this time:
JWST (I think most likely to win)
Soyuz
Ghibli
'Big Boy'
Asterix (could be improved and potential for great playset)
SR-71 (unlikely)

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

My predictions: Gremlins, Bookends and Hocus Pocus (since there’s a remake coming soon!)

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

They maybe could take the idea of the great coral reef and do something very beautiful with it in a different scale…

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm sure Hyrule Castle will pass this time. I've got a good feeling Lucy is for sure not going to pull the football out at the last moment.
There are some fantastic models here, but not a whole lot of them give me that "likely to pass" vibe. I could see Johnny 5 passing if it weren't motorized. I would hate to be the one in charge of doing the instructions for that choral reef it if passes!

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

It would likely be Asterix, Gremlins, Land Ahoy. :/

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I shall await my disappointment

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The ones I'd love to see:
- Soyuz
- Big Boy
- SR71
- Ghibli (even when there have been better ones before)
- Clockwork Solar System
- Rubik's Cube
- Johnny 5

But the ones that have a chance:
- Gremlins
- Brooklyn Nine Nine
- Terrariums (maybe)

And as usual so many great MOCs that won't translate well into an actual Lego set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As good as these sets are (and many are amazing) a lot can be instantly ruled out for various reasons.

Orchids - Look great but already a line of flowers etc
Castle - D’oh, great model, awful timing
Brooklyn 99 & greenhouses - Great sets but too big and spread out (and would a condensed set work as well?)
Etc, etc. A real shame as the kits I mentioned look great (I would snap up a smaller version of the greenhouses in a heartbeat)

Sets that could (or should I say hope) work, Stargate, bookends and Pirates.

Gravatar
By in France,

Many licensed theme. I cross my fingers for Studio Ghibli which I love, as a huge fan of Miyazaki's work and animes. A Lego Totoro would be a great crossover of two passions for me...
Edit : as a French, Asterix would be a great winner too of course! Bien sûr!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

It's always funny to read @goldenguy880 's predictions, wherein he displays how little he knows about any subject matter that wasn't popular or well known in the US.

Statements like
"31. The Three Investigators - Is this even based on anything?"
almost made me fall from my chair laughing. Especially since it originated in the US.

Though nowadays I guess it's most famous in Europe, Germany in particular. You will have a hard time finding someone in Germany, kid, teen or adult, who doesn't know or hasn't heard of this series (of books, audio plays, merchandise, etc.)
Over here it's called "Die Drei ???", literally "The three question marks", a trio of young detectives.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Rooting for the coral reef and Gremlins! Emergency box is hilarious and the Solar System is beautiful as well but I don't see either of them happening.

Also, people seem to expect the rubik's cube to win but I'm not so sure. I followed the designer's video and while his design is absolutely ingenius, it's also really fiddly and prone to get stuck easily. Likely falls apart much too quick too. So unless they completely redesign it, likely enlarging the model by a lot (and taking away a lot of the magic for me), it's very unlikely to get picked. To me, it belongs in the 'amazing MOC but a bad LEGO product' category.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

My top 3:

- Motorized Johnny 5
- Big Boy
- It's a Wonderful Life

However, I think the most likely of those three would be just the Big Boy, but I think it'll be something completely different in the end.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't want to get my hopes up, but I could see Stargate making the cut. The Venn Diagram between AFOLs and Stargate fans has to have a lot of overlap.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can't really see any of these being made into sets, but if that Blackbird were to be chosen... I would be so incredibly happy.

Johnny 5 was not from a TV show but from the Short Circuit movies in the 80's. One of my favourite robots aside from Wall-E.

Personally I would love either Hocus Pocus or Gremlins but doubt either will end up being selected. Always possible though as I never expected a Home Alone set to be brought out which I haven't got around to buying yet.

Gravatar

Coral reef would be an instant, wait for the time to tick over to nab immediately, buy for me

Gravatar

Can't quite say I'm hyped for any of these, after seeing existing IDEAS projects getting marked up so much. These will be the same, the markup will just be less explicit.

Feel a lot of these have been covered by the 90th anniversary sets and the brinklink program. Great builds but I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t pick any.

By the time anything from this wave gets released, the LEGO prices are going to be hilariously unreal, so I don't think any of this matters.

I absolutely loved those books as a kid! Alfred Hitchcock and the Three Investigators, although I don't think he had much to do with them.

Give Me Moominhouse ?????? Or Give Me Death

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm surprised how many people don't seem to know who Johnny 5 is. Short Circuit, an 80's classic--I guess it wasn't as popular as I thought? It's not Back to the Future or Ghostbusters, but it's right in the same arena.

I'd vote for Brooklyn 99, my favourite show.
After Crossroads, of course.

By in Canada,

I have a feeling "Gremlins" will be one of them. another 80s nostalgic cash grab, they have a mold for the Gremlins from Lego Dimensions and it's a very known IP.

By in United States,

Ghibli collection or none at all, for me. Though given that several other Ghibli projects have failed to pass, as well as the studio's well-known protectiveness of their properties, I suspect there may be an issue with acquiring the licenses for any such set.

Still, nothing else here that I'd buy, even though a lot of it looks cool.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This just in. Whichever set they choose will be undergoing a price increase.

Americans really be logging on to the interwebs and unashamedly flouting their ignorance like this

Pirate Tavern & Asterix The Gaul are my favorite of the bunch.

Best of luck!

By in United States,

I don't think anything here is standout. The Coral Reef seems plausible, but that would be a miserable build and turn into a dust net. Rubik's Cube seems most likely, given Lego's current efforts, plus it can remain a small scale. I've heard Asterik's is popular, so maybe that. Nothing else seems terribly likely though - standard castle, Nintendo item, modular representation, and niche properties which will never be produced.

What I want: Stargate, Gravity Falls, or Avatar

(Stargate and Gravity Falls are dead franchises, Stargate's modern military, they wouldn't have both Avatar franchises on shelves at once)

What it'll be: one if the NASA things again

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like several of these, particularly the coral reef and the train station, but I’m not optimistic about their odds of success.

Yes, unlike 1980s Voltron, Stargate's so niche it only ran for 19 seasons and 3 movies.

Whatever this "Studio Gibbley" thing is has nowhere close to the commercial power and merchandising possibilities of Knight Rider or The A-Team or The Goonies.

And how could something as obscure as Avatar: The Last Airbender compare to something as critically acclaimed and culturally relevant as Tron: Legacy?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want Studio Ghibli and Brooklyn Nine-Nine please and thank you, Lego.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Blackbird, please.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The only ones I would definitely buy would be :
13 — It’s a nice play/display piece, perfect for Lego.
35 — An Absolutely Amazing idea, I’d easily pay $250-$350 if they gave it the Home Alone treatment.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

I'd love the Hocus Pocus house or the Asterix one.

So, naturally, LEGO will pick up the most boring of them all (like the Rubik's cube) and still butcher it, as per tradition, while putting a ridiculously overpriced tag on in.

Gravatar
By in Mexico,

I don't want to be mean, but at first glance, I thought the Solar System was a pile of hot cakes :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would throw SO MUCH MONEY at Lego for the clockwork solar system (though this one needs a bit of tweaking, I think) and the Blackbird. SO. MUCH. MONEY.

I doubt either gets picked but let me have my dreams

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The only prediction I have is that I'll be disappointed by what gets chosen.

Or, it could be a great reason to release another locomotive. In the model railroading world, steam engines are significantly more popular than electric ones. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I'm not counting it out so quickly either.

By in Australia,

Rinse and repeat!
Some amazing builds here, some really ordinary and/or weird ones where it’s shocking that they got 10,000 votes!

Sadly, 95-99% of these won’t see the light of day, and some of them are blindingly obvious they won’t make it: eg Orchids, castles, most licensed themes.

Prepare all to be disappointed!

The Clockwork Solar System, Steampunk Explorers and The Rubik's Cube are my favorites.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Greenhouse, coral reef, Asterix, bookends in that order

Gravatar
By in United States,

I agree with Huw that the Great Coral Reef would make a great parts pack. I can imagine doing a set draft of it at Brickworld, like we did with the Succulents set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Fingers crossed for Johnny Five or the SR-71

Gravatar
By in United States,

Would be really good timing if the James Webb Space Telescope was chosen given the release of the first images today.

Gravatar
By in Peru,

As a professional sports bettor, I predict that Magic Bookends and Rubik's Cube will be selected.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If Great Coral Reef doesn't make it there's going to be a big plastic fire in my yard tomorrow. The only other set in it's current form that deserves to make it is Sheriff's Office, it's aesthetics and build quality remind me of 21310 Old Fishing Store.

Gravatar
By in United States,

None of these stand out as obvious candidates. Most of them I can easily write off because they're modulars which NEVER pass, too big (Garden & Greenhouse), too similar to existing stuff (plants and castles), unlicensable (Ghibli), or any number of other reasons that makes me question why people even submit other than to get attention for their MOCs.

I do like Downtown Records and Stargate, but don't think Stargate has a chance and don't look forward to having to fight for Downtown Records on Bricklink and getting it in the mail 15 years from now.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

JK Brickworks made an orrery but that didn't make it. He ended up working with another manufacturer to get his model produced. Maybe this one will have a shot. I'm still rooting for the Rubik's cube, but I'm cautiously optimistic.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Asterix as a theme would be a real enrichment. The Gallic village, the Roman camp, or the grand entrance of Cleopatra with her parade float and the always unsuccessful pirates. Very, very much potential.

But I could also imagine Asterix, Obelix and the other characters by Goscinny and Uderzo as a minifigure series.

Culturally relevant to who? I remember seeing the original at the cinema but I can't say it is really relevant to my life or culture."

Sarcasm. Look, as an animator I respect the limits Tron 1 pushed. But the sequel was just a movie that came and went. Meanwhile the Last Airbender has only grown in popularity in recent years and is critically near-perfect.
